Victim Flagged Down By Suspect – Robbed At Gunpoint


Location: Evan’s Drive, Coverdale Crossroads, Bridgeville

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, November 1st, 2009 at 3:20 pm

Suspect(s): Mr. Maurice D. Cannon, 27, 21000 Block of Coverdale Road, Bridgeville, DE

Resume:

On Sunday, November 1st, 2009, Delaware State Police were summoned to Middleford Deli in Seaford, by a 21-year old victim of Seaford, reference to a robbery.

The victim was traveling to the Middleford Speedway when he became lost. When attempting to turn around on Evan’s Drive the victim was flagged down by a black male on the shoulder of the roadway, later identified as Mr. Maurice Cannon, 27, of the 21000 Block of Coverdale Road.

Mr. Cannon initially asked the victim for a ride to the speedway and then displayed a handgun pointing it at the victim demanding he exit the vehicle. The victim complied at which time Mr. Cannon stole the individual wallet which contained an undisclosed amount of money and cell phone.

The victim was able to recall physical attributes of the suspect which lead to the Troopers identifying Mr. Cannon. The Troopers obtained warrants for Mr. Cannon.

The Delaware State Police are requesting the assistance of the public in locating Mr. Cannon. If anyone has information concerning his whereabouts they are urged to contact (302) 337-1090 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips may remain anonymous.

  1. Some guy tried to flag me down on Fri. near the Wendy's across the street from SU. I'll be damned if I was going to stop. My bad @$$ side wanted to jump out and kick him in the head just for trying me.

  2. The Cannon"s are a murderous, crimnal legacy that goes way back.

    They should crack the next one born in the head with a hammer and do Delaware a great service.

    One shot and killed a pregnant store clerk back in the 80's just before Christmas. No remorse.

  6. Lost....yeah right. Stop looking for pot in the Coverdale area and you won't get robbed by a dealer. They are highly protective in that area and know an outsider when they see one. If you dont live in that area you need to just stay away or at least drive thru really fast.
