Cop Shoots Fire Chief In Ark. Court Over Tickets

Residents fed up with speed traps in tiny town that has seven officers

JERICHO, Ark. -
It was just too much, having to return to court twice on the same day to contest yet another traffic ticket, and Fire Chief Don Payne didn't hesitate to tell the judge what he thought of the police and their speed traps.

The response from cops? They shot him. Right there in court.

Payne ended up in the hospital, but his shooting last week brought to a boil simmering tensions between residents of this tiny former cotton city and their police force. Drivers quickly learn to slow to a crawl along the gravel roads and the two-lane highway that run through Jericho, but they say sometimes that isn't enough to fend off the city ticketing machine.

Don't Have $5,300 For Season Tickets? The Washington Redskins Will Sue You Into Bankruptcy

Good news for fans of the Iggles and Football Giants and um, that other team with the crazy owner, it's apparently "Washington Redskins Are Evil" day on Consumerist. Moving right along, this time we find our villain suing season ticket holders who find themselves too broke to continue buying season tickets.

The Washington Post introduces us to a 72-year-old grandmother who, while crying next to the Redskins hook rug she made, explains that she's had season tickets since 1960 — but is now being forced into bankruptcy by the team she so dearly loves.

You see, she's a real estate agent, and has been hit hard by the market crash. She asked the Redskins to put her contract on hold for a couple years while she gets back on her feet — but they said no. And then she sued her for breach of contract and got a default judgment of $66,364.

Hill couldn't afford a lawyer. She did not fight the lawsuit or even respond to it because, she said, she believes that the Bible says that it is morally wrong not to pay your debts. The team won a default judgment of $66,364.

"It really breaks my heart," Hill said, her voice cracking as the tears well and spill. "I don't even believe in bankruptcy.

The Redskins say they were unaware of this lady's situation and that "For every one [the Redskins] sue, I would guess we work out a deal with half a dozen."

They also told the paper that all NFL teams sue their fans, but the Post checked it out and found that the following teams do not sue their fans: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans. The Chicago Bears admitted to suing "in rare instances," and the New England Patriots sue "multiyear premium ticket holders." Everyone else declined to comment or didn't respond.

In all the Post found that the Skins sued 125 Redskin ticket holders for a total of $3.2 million.
The team won judgments totaling $2 million from 34 season ticket holders, most of whom did not hire an attorney and defaulted by not making an appearance in court.

TAPEGATE – Salisbury’s Own Little Morality Play

The Knave, played by Salisbury’s chief of police betrays his master by allying himself with the Red Witch.  Local versions of Desdemona are defiled.  A weak and insipid ruler refuses to stand up and defend the citizenry he is sworn to protect while being ridiculed by a jester and an evil version of the chorus, played by our very own Tilghman Times.

These are the main characters in what will be known as TAPEGATE.  Who are the heroes?  Who are the villains?

FORMER TROOPER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

(Rockville, MD) – A former Maryland state trooper was arrested and charged last night in connection with the sexual assault of a woman he arrested during a traffic stop in Montgomery County last year.

Marlon E. Iglesias, 42, of Montgomery County, Md., was arrested last night at his home by Maryland State Police criminal investigators. He was charged on a warrant with three counts of third degree sexual offense, two counts of fourth degree sexual offense, and one count of second degree assault. Iglesias was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Center where he was held until he posted a $30,000 bond.

The victim is not being identified. The Maryland State Police does not publicly identify victims of sexual offenses.

In late May 2009, the victim disclosed to Maryland State Police investigators that in July 2008, while driving on I-270, she was arrested by a state trooper, later identified as then Trooper First Class Marlon Iglesias. She said she was handcuffed, and put in the front seat of the patrol car.

The victim said while driving to the Rockville Barracks, Iglesias squeezed her thigh. While at the barracks, the victim said Iglesias fondled and kissed her and committed other sexual assaults.

Maryland State Police investigators pursued the investigation and learned the victim had been stopped by an officer from the Montgomery County Police for following too close and suspicion of driving under the influence on southbound I-270 near I-370. Iglesias stopped to back up the county officer. The officer turned the traffic stop over to Iglesias for further investigation. Iglesias arrested the woman for driving under the influence.

State Police investigators presented evidence to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. After a review of the evidence, prosecutors determined charges should be filed against Iglesias.

Iglesias joined the Maryland State Police in 1994 and was assigned to road patrol duties at the Rockville Barracks. In January 2009, his police powers were suspended due to a personnel issue. He resigned from the Maryland State Police in April of this year.

Wanted Subject Leaves her Injured Child Behind At Crash Scene To Avoid Capture

Location: Scotland Drive and Route 40 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Delaware

Date and Time: Thursday, September 03, 2009, at approximately 8:41 a.m.

Suspect(s): Tiffany Hrycek, 27, of Samantha Circle in Bear, Delaware

Resume: At approximately 8:41 a.m. this morning, Troopers and emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Route 40 and Scotland Drive for an injury crash.

A 2006 Mazda Tribute (operated by Constance Williams, 34, of Bear, Delaware) was traveling northbound on Scotland Drive and was crossing Route 40 to go toward the Apple Chase Apartment Complex. This vehicle had a green light. As the Mazda was crossing the Pulaski Highway westbound lanes, it was stuck by a 2000 Ford Explorer (operated by Tiffany Hrycek, 27, of Bear, Delaware). This investigation revealed the Ford was traveling in the right hand lane and ran a red light.

After the crash, Tiffany Hrycek got out of her vehicle and also took her 10-year-old daughter out of the car. She escorted her daughter to the adjacent sidewalk and left her behind as she fled the scene by herself. Come to find out, Ms. Hrycek had two outstanding capiases for her arrest and she elected to abandon her daughter at the scene to elude capture.

After emergency personnel arrived, they contacted the little girl and determined that she in fact sustained non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention. She was then transported to Christiana Hospital for treatment.

Ms. Williams was not injured.

Troopers responded to Hrycek’s home and took her into custody without incident. She was transported back to Troop 2 for processing. She was charged with the following offenses: Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor), Leaving the Scene of an Injury Crash (traffic offense), Driving While Suspended (traffic offense), Failure to Have Insurance (traffic offense), Failure to have a Registration Card (traffic offense) and Disregarding a Red Light (traffic offense).

Bail information was not available at the time of this release.

The Division of Family Services was contacted and notified as to the facts of this case. The child was turned over to another family member.

White House Green Jobs Adviser Apologizes For Calling Republicans 'Assholes'

Van Jones, the Obama administration's "green jobs" adviser, apologized Wednesday for calling Republicans "assholes," saying the comments were made before he joined the administration and "were clearly inappropriate."

Jones had told a group of listeners earlier in the year that the reason Republicans are stonewalling the president is because they're "assholes," remarks that were recorded in a video and posted to YouTube.

White House Withdraws Call For Students To 'Help' Obama

President Obama's plan to speak to the nation's schoolchildren in a video address next week erupted into controversy as critics claimed he was trying to indoctrinate America's kids.

The Obama administration is rethinking its course recommendations for students ahead of President Obama's address to the the nation's schoolchildren next week, rewriting its suggestions to teachers for student assignments on how to "help the president."

White House aides said the language was supposed to be an inspirational, pro-education message to America's youths, but its unintended consequences were evident.

Among the activities initially suggested for pre-K to 6th grade students was to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president."

Another assignment for students after hearing the speech was to discuss what "the president wants us to do."

The suggestion about writing letters has since been changed to: "Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said the changes to the language are intended to make the lesson plans clearer. He added that the speech is not a policy speech, but is intended to encourage kids to work hard and commit to school.

The speech is "about the value of education and the importance of staying in school as part of his effort to dramatically cut the dropout rate," Vietor said.

(ANNAPOLIS, Md.
– August 27, 2009) In response to a plan issued by the Governor this week relating to furloughs, salary reductions and closings of Executive Branch agencies, executive offices will be closed Friday, September 4. However, due to the late notice of this announcement, the Maryland Judiciary is not in a position to support closing on that date. As such, all Maryland courts will remain open on Friday, September 4.

A comprehensive Judiciary plan to address the budget problem is under development and will be issued shortly. Information on the Judiciary’s plan will be made available on www.mdcourts.gov.

Let's Get Something Clear Referencing The WBOE

For starters, many key statements were made at Tuesday's County Council Meeting that have been conveniently ignored by the Daily Times. I wish I could have delivered this sooner but things have been quite busy around here.

OK, first of all, the WBOE takes up just about 50% of the County's entire Budget. That being said, when the Governor delivers his final Budget for the State, the Board of Education Budget is set in stone, period. NOTHING, and I do mean NOTHING can change throughout the rest of the entire year.

The Teacher's Union supported O'Malley 100% and one thing is for sure, as stated in previous BOE articles we have provided, they got everything they ever dreamed of, (and more) simply because they supported this man O'Malley. That being said, I don't care how much they cut DURING the fiscal year, the balance of the 50%, City/County Employees and other projects get dumped, period and that's ALL they have to work with.

So for those of you wondering and or commenting as to why the BOE isn't being cut, there's NOTHING you or anyone else can do about that. So while there's even recent mention about another SCAM going on within the WBOE right now, (which has been confirmed and Salisbury News will provide an exclusive story on it in the very near future) these people laugh all the way to the Bank while other employees and departments, (ultimately you) take to punches.

Joe Holloway was right when he mentioned that the County must stop all talks on a new Library and Civic Center. Pollitt even mentioned that services like the County Library may even be closed on certain days to make up for the losses in revenue down the road.

Things are more than just tight Folks. I have been telling you for years, this is more serious than anyone ever dreamed and we're living on CREDIT, not what we actually own. Back in the big depression there was no such thing as a Credit Card. Did you ever wonder how entire Towns became what they called back in the day, "Ghost Towns." Well, put on that seat belt Folks because you're going to see that happening once again throughout America and places like the Eastern Shore will get hit hard. There's no real Industry here and there's very little chance anyone is going to invest in this area.

We overbuilt far too fast and we had leaders like Barrie Tilghman, Gary Comegys, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, who took advantage of government funds through TIF's, Developer Reimbursements, Grants, you name it, they begged and borrowed and used comparisons like Rockville on a regular basis hoping people would believe we could be just as nice.

Well, we don't have the tax base of metropolitan areas like Rockville. We don't have the businesses like Rockville. We don't have the schools like Rockville. We are the Eastern Shore with beautiful landscapes, perhaps like the Patomac USED to be. People like Tilghman, Comegys, Dunn, Pollitt aren't preserving our landscapes. Instead, they have been FOOLING everyone to believe we can borrow all this money and perhaps become something like Rockville and they sold everyone on believing we deserve things like a $14,000,000.00 Fire Palace and multi million dollar Fire Trucks.

Now we deserve new Schools, yet we don't have the money to pay for them. I travel down Rt. 13 to Virginia all the time. I make it a point many times to pull off Rt. 13 and travel the back roads to see what life is like in these little Towns. My God Folks, have you ever done that. Have you ever seen the Schools located in these small Towns. Bennett Middle School is a palace, compared to what I have seen elsewhere.

Mind you, the money has to come from somewhere but when you're blowing 50% of your entire Budget on one thing like education and your taxes keep going through the roof and our own Government allows property values that were $50,000.00 10 years ago to go up as high and $350,000.00 today for that same piece of property, it's no wonder we're in deep trouble, especially on the Eastern Shore!

We're taxed out and many are losing their homes because of this false economy. We raised our property values like we are Rockville, we started building new schools and now we're in deep sh!t financially. It's time we get a Governor in Office who will stand up to the WBOE and say, you know what, the money just isn't there, we're cutting you 25% right off the top. Instead, we allow our Country to be run off of politicians who cut deals with Teachers Unions so they can get elected, (how about ACORN) all so we get get one person into Office.

We need to look at things on a state level and national level and go back to basics. Let every state have a Rockville and leave it like that. If someone can afford to live there, MOVE! However, we ALL chose to come to the Eastern Shore because of the landscape and charm and we must STOP our representatives into brainwashing so many into believing we deserve more and better.

This Blog offers a format that has never been provided before. First of all, articles like this one would never come up in the Daily Times and never even considered for television news. You get the chance to come together and network on ideas and if you don't agree you get to voice your opinion. If you agree, well, for once you get to place pressure on your elected officials to make changes like never before.

Hopefully many of you have read this article all the way through and understand that the majority of the people on the Eastern Shore can't afford any more of this crap. Right now, (IMHO) the main focus needs to be on Crime. Give the Police the resources they need to fight crime because things are NOT going to get any better over the next 5 years. We need safe communities and while we're educating our youth, we need a new Governor who will NOT set the BOE Budget in stone as they need to be more affected than the Police any day of the week. I will personally no longer stand to hear our Mayor state they need to cut ANY MORE funding from the SPD in any way, shape or form.

I could go on forever but I'll stop here and look with great interest to your comments.

Public School Speech

"Joe,

As a concerned parent I am at wits end this morning. We have been hearing about the President making an address to all public school children. In my opinion the Administration has no business addressing my children. It is my job to raise my children.

The white house is telling us that this speech is solely a pep rally to keep kids in school and to do their best. Which is fine, but I want to see what my kids are going to be exposed to. Why is the President bringing children into the political realm? Indoctrination? I have visited the whitehouse.gov/live link but have not been able to find this video. I am assuming it will not be available until it is broadcast live. I am curious if your readers have found any links to this speech or is it floating around on the web already. Perhaps I am overreacting? Maybe it is non-political, what is my assurance? Where do we as parents draw the line?

What is the pulse of Delmarva on this topic?

MARYLAND GOP CHAIR: 200 DAYS OF PRESIDENT OBAMA’S FAILED ECONOMIC EXPERIMENT

Annapolis, MD –
Republican Party Chairman James Pelura issued the following statement today about the Republican National Committee report detailing the impact of President Obama’s failed economic stimulus experiment and the detrimental impact that this experiment is having on our state.

“When President Obama and Congressional Democrats pushed to pass the stimulus bill, they promised it would be a targeted, timely and transparent effort to create jobs immediately. But as we approach the 200th day since the stimulus passed, here in Maryland, jobs continue to be lost, stimulus spending is slow, and, as even Vice President Biden has acknowledged, ‘some of this money is going to be wasted.’

“Instead of providing jobs for the people of Maryland, thousands are being left unemployed and billions of dollars have been added to our deficit. In the end, the stimulus is yet another one of Obama’s failed experiments that Americans cannot afford.”

To view the full report, visit: 200 Days, 200 Claims

The following claims made by Maryland Democrats are debunked below:

JOB CREATION

CLAIM #104: Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) Said Stimulus Would Immediately Create Jobs In Maryland. ―The bill passed by the Senate is timely. It will create jobs immediately in Maryland and across the country, helping our states and local communities by providing funding for ready-to-go projects, such as fixing crumbling roads and bridges. This bill is targeted. It puts money back in the pockets of Americans who are most likely to spend it, injecting needed capital into our economy. It helps people stay in their homes, keep their jobs, and take care of their families. It also invests in modernizing our rail and mass transit systems and allocates new funds for education, alternative energy, and health care technology, all of which will help create and save quality jobs in the short-term, but also will save us billions of dollars in the future through lower energy usage, lower health care costs and a better trained workforce.

(Sen. Ben Cardin, ―Cardin Praises Senate Passage Of The American Recovery And Reinvestment Act Press Release, 2/10/09)

REALITY: Since Stimulus Was Signed In February, Maryland Has Lost Over 26,000 Jobs. (U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics Website, www.bls.gov, Accessed 8/24/09)

CLAIM #105: Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) Said Stimulus About “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs.” ―We have inherited a terrible mess. But the Senate has taken a major step forward to turn the country around by passing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. By standing with President Obama, we stand up for America to create jobs for people who have lost them and to help those who have jobs, keep them. This is about jobs, jobs, jobs

(Sen. Barbara Mikulski, ―Senator Mikulski Statement on Senate Passage of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Press Release, 2/10/09)

REALITY: Much Of Stimulus Spending Has Nothing To Do With Creating Jobs. ―For a start, too much of the money went to transfer payments such as Medicaid, jobless benefits and the like that do nothing for jobs and growth. The spending that creates new jobs is new spending, particularly on infrastructure. It amounts to less than 10% of the stimulus package today

Checkpoint Strikeforce

Ocean City Police are announcing their participation in the “2009 Checkpoint Strikeforce” campaign. As Maryland drivers prepare to hit the roads for the upcoming Labor Day weekend, the statewide anti-drunk driving initiative is back in
action with stepped up enforcement and sobriety checkpoints.

Statistics reveal progress made by the enforcement crackdown and public education in conjunction with the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign. Maryland data shows a 15
percent decrease in alcohol-related fatalities from 2007 to 2008. However, according to additional Maryland data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 152 alcohol-related fatalities still accounted for more than one fourth (26 percent) of Maryland’s traffic fatalities in 2008. This is lower than the national average of 32 percent, indicating a positive trend in behavior for the state, the need for the campaign’s stringent and tireless efforts will remain until every
drunk driver has been removed from the road.

“Catching drunk drivers is a major priority of every man and woman who wears a Maryland police agency uniform,” warned Bernadette DiPino, President of Maryland Chiefs of Police Association and chief of police for the Ocean City Police Department. “The fact that alcohol remains a significant contributor to traffic fatalities reminds us that we must continue to be vigilant.” Chief DiPino will be a key note speaker at the kick-off of Checkpoint Strikeforce, Thursday
afternoon at the Bay Café in Baltimore.

MWR Strategies, a respected research firm that has conducted Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign surveys since 2002, took the pulse of 800 adults in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia in July 2009. Among the campaign’s target audience of males aged 21-35, key findings include:

The biggest fear amongst this group of local male drivers as a result of driving while intoxicated is killing or injuring someone else (75-percent), more than arrest (two-percent) or their own death (ten-percent). Nearly three-quarters (72-
percent) of these local drivers perceive drunk driving as one of the most serious dangers faced on area roadways. More than nine-out-of-ten (93-percent) of this group of local male drivers support the use sobriety checkpoints. Nearly two-outof-
five (19-percent) of these local drivers said that they would (or have) changed their behavior knowing that sobriety checkpoints were being held in their area.

The statewide Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign combines proactive public education and stepped up enforcement efforts to effectively erase borders between jurisdictions in fighting drunk driving. A significant effort has been put toward
an ad campaign and educational outreach in Maryland. The creative ads were written and produced to connect with the target audience of 21-35 year old males. The ads utilize the findings of the campaign’s opinion poll to create messages that hit home with the target audience. More than 5500 ads will run on a total 16 broadcast stations, cable systems and radio stations in Maryland between August and December.

The campaign is supported in Maryland by a grant from the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway

An Important Message Of Reality

Joe

In the past I believe our county executive gave the employees of the county extra paid holidays (12/8/08)(12/24/07).

I’m not sure but I think they were paid for these days.

If so , in 2008 , the state was taking unpaid days to help our sick economy.

The cost of a day to the county , with over 500 employees must be tremendous.

He is now talking about taking away from the employees , I don’t understand this move.

Wayne

Dear Wayne, there's more to it than just that, allow me to explain. Mr. Pollitt stated this morning that "you're not going to be able to enjoy those things we had in the past." Well Folks, that was the WHOLE POINT of the Revenue Cap in the first place, to eliminate such LUXURIES and over spending!!!!!!!!

Now the County Executive, (who has been dying to repeal the Tax Cap) want to repeal the Tax Cap and raise your taxes. Let me explain a little something to Mr. Pollitt, with all due respect.

If the Governor has reduced County Roads funding by 90%, reduce those in that department by 90%! This is LIFE Folks, with all due respect. I keep trying to explain to everyone, we're in a false economy and our Government keeps making it worse on us.

If you get such a reduction, you must also reduce. You don't steal from another department to keep some of the people on board simply because you have a heart. If a Cheetah gets a meal and a very hungry Lion comes along and wants it, he takes the damn thing and that's a part of LIFE! You don't step in, (like Governments try to do) and cut the kill in half and say, you get this half and you get the other half, now play nice. That's Ireton style and that doesn't work. You stay the hell out of it and the strong will survive.

Pollitt and Ireton need to face REALITY, make the same cuts O'Malley has forced down every one's throat and guess what, when the next election comes along we'll throw the bums out of Office who put us in this position and maybe, just maybe America will get back on its feet. In the mean time, don't keep these people working just because you want to cut the meal in half and tell everyone top play nice. That just means the TAXPAYERS will once again pay for that meal and eventually ONE of them will die anyway.

Quit bellyaching Pollitt & Ireton, this is the real mans world where real men make harsh decisions. Get on the freakin ball, cut jobs immediately and the sooner we stop cutting meals in half and interfering, the quicker this economy will rebound. Now grow up and act like men.

Dear Lord

'Dear Lord:
Thank you so much for bringing me to Timmy's house, and not to Michael Vick's -- AMEN!'

P.S. Save us from Obama too.

NOT THE FIRST TIME

Obama's removal of the G. M. CEO was not the first time a Democrat President removed an executive to support a labor union. On April 26, 1944 FDR had troops carry Montgomery Wards chairman, Avery Sewell, out and seized the companies assets. This was done to support the Retail Clerks unionization of the company. This was upheld in a court of appeals ruling, but was terminated in 1945 by Harry Truman.

While it is not surprising that a Democrat President would support a labor union, the fact that Truman, JFK, Johnson, Carter and Clinton were not as extreme, but Obama is, I find telling. FDR did this during a time when the country was united in a war effort. Obama chose to do this when the country is divided and that is change, indeed.

State Legislators In Now-Infamous Solitaire Photo Identified

House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, far right, speaks while colleagues play solitaire on their computers as the House convenes to vote on a new budget for the fiscal year in the Capitol on Monday [AP Photo/Jessica Hill]

A photo of two Democratic legislators playing solitaire has ignited controversy at the state Capitol and in the blogosphere.

The Associated Press picture has appeared in any number of venues, and it shows two lawmakers sitting in the back row of the historic Hall of the House in Hartford during the lengthy debate over the two-year, $37 billion state budget.

On the left is Rep. Barbara Lambert, a freshman Democrat from Milford who won her first legislative election in November 2008. She replaced longtime Milford Democrat James Amann, who ended his legislative career as the House Speaker and is now running for governor against Republican M. Jodi Rell.

Lambert is playing spider solitaire in the photo, while Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, a Bridgeport Democrat who has served in Hartford since 2005, is playing regular solitaire. They both voted in favor of the Democratic-written budget, while Cafero voted against it. A Boston College graduate, Hennessy is a delivery specialist for FedEx.

KRATOVIL UNDER ATTACK

Dear Friend,

The National Republican Congressional Committee just launched a new television
attack ad here in Maryland's First District, distorting my record in an attempt
to score cheap political points. This latest attack is just a reminder that our
opponents will say or do anything to win... no matter the truth. Just a few
weeks ago, one of them even went as far as hanging me in effigy outside of my
office in Salisbury. We expect these attacks to continue in the weeks and months
ahead, and so it's critical that we have the resources to fight back. With this
in mind, I'm writing to personally ask you to give today to make sure we have
the urgent campaign resources to spread my positive message and set the record
straight. Will you give $50 or $100 or more today to help me? Contribute today
to help fight back.

I know this is a lot to ask in these tough times, and it's not a request that I
make lightly. But I also know that this latest attack ad means the Republican
Party has singled me out for their smears. We fought hard together to win last
November, and we can't stand idly by now in the face of these attacks. Help me
fight back.

Contribute today to support my efforts.

Thank you for all you have done so far to stand with me. Your support means the
world to me, and I hope I can count on you again today.

Sincerely,
Frank Kratovil.

PS: Pundits are already predicting this is going to be one of the closest races
in the country next year, so it's important that we don't let any attack go
unanswered. With your help, we can send a clear message that we're prepared to
fight back. Thanks for your support!

The Female Shopper

(a female) was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:

A half-gallon of 2% milk
A carton of eggs
A quart of orange juice
A head of lettuce
A 2 lb. can of coffee
A 1 lb. package of bacon

As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier.

While the purchases were being rung-up, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single.'

I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I said...

'Yes, you are correct: But how on earth did you know that?'

The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.'

ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS: Worth Repeating

Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!!

Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & ; Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer. The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....??

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!!

Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood
moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately y on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop
on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best...?

I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, 'don't do it dipshit,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . .

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD . . WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . . WHAT THE HELL!!!

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs? The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room...

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a tazer, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative?

IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was... My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs.. I had no control over the drooling..

Apparently I shit myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my nuts and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe
return!

P.S... My wife, can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it!

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid !!!

QUESTION?

WHY IS IT......IF YOU CROSS THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET 12 YEARS HARD LABOR......BUT IF YOU CROSS THE US BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET A DRIVERS LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, AND FREE HEALTH CARE? WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS THIS?

Cash for Chicago Cronies: Federal Census Grant $ For Radical Woods Fund

By Michelle Malkin

Andrew Marcus at Founding Bloggers points out that federal slush fund money is going to Barack Obama’s old pals at the Woods Fund in Chicago:
Illinois is receiving copious amounts of federal tax payer dollars to “boost awareness” for the upcoming census.

How are they planning on boosting awareness? By handing out millions of dollars to Obama-Progressive friendly groups.

A push to reverse low census participation in Illinois will soon be coming via barber, baby-sitter, tax preparer, librarian and even iTunes download, part of a first-of-its-kind collaboration by local charities.

The “Count Me In” project on Wednesday will announce $1.2 million in grants to 26 groups for census outreach in 37 traditionally undercounted Chicago neighborhoods and cities around Illinois.

The name of one recipient in particular jumps off the page….The Woods Fund.
The Woods Fund was home to jihadi apologist Rashid Khalidi, Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, and Barack Obama — who served on the Board of Directors at a time when the foundation was making grants to ACORN and Jeremiah Wright’s church.

You can take Obama out of Chicago, but you can’t take the Chicago out of Obama.

Refund request for fees paid related to board up/clean and lien/grass cuts
(304 Delaware Avenue) – Pam Oland

Joe, check this out. Conducting a real property search on this property reveals something interesting. A slum lord is asking for a refund or a waiver on his violations for the listed rental property he owns. Guess who this slum lord is. It is none other than Bob and John Cannon. That's right the John Cannon from the Wicomico County Council. Why should the tax payers foot the bill to clean up his rental property. Why should the city tax payers foot any bill by incompetent slum lords. This is something the tax payers and voters in the city of Salisbury need to keep their eyes on.

WICOMICO COUNTY: “PAC 14” WANTS YOUR WALLET (AND SALISBURY’S TOO)!

Last year we learned that a local group, which has included certain elected officials of the County and City, was engaging in a largely clandestine effort to reorganize PAC 14 as a charitable (”501c3”) organization that would have an elaborate “community media center” funded mainly by local taxpayers and CATV users. That revelation was followed by a series of contentious meetings of the County Council and City Councils, during which it became apparent that this group had been complicit in withholding knowledge of their effort from PAC 14’s existing board of directors and preventing meaningful meetings of that board so that it could be falsely portrayed as being “nonfunctional.” These revelations and the related machinations of Salisbury University have resulted in an interim board to propose an organizational structure. In recent months there has been little public information in that regard.

But soon the “new PAC 14” will again be a matter of public concern and controversy.

This time the Councils will be presented with a proposed plan to divest the local governments of any meaningful oversight of PAC 14, while maintaining its public funding by the County and City, which can be expected to increase in order to satisfy PAC 14’s budget unless prudence prevails. Whether the plan for the proposed “state-of-the-art” community media center will be fully disclosed is questionable because of the cost to build and equip as well as operate that facility as contemplated by its proponents.

The PAC 14 takeover group has been guided by a consultant from California, who once again is coming here to preach the gospel to the public. It will be interesting to hear her explain how the County and City will be able not just to maintain but to increase the funding provided to PAC 14 when both governments are in the throes of reducing their expenditure because of greatly reduced tax and other revenues. CATV subscribers would do well to pay attention and state their position to our elected officials. So, too, would the others who are looking to the County and City for increased funding – the library, Urban Salisbury, etc. – for their proposed facilities and programs.

The current agendas are for the “new PAC 14” to be discussed at the Salisbury City Council meeting on September 14 and at the County Council’s meeting the next day.

For a comprehensive factual account of the scheme to seize control of PAC 14, see the series presented last year on Delmarva Dealings –

“I Pledge To Be Of Service To Barack Obama”

As if I needed any more evidence to bolster today’s column about the Obama junior lobbyist campaign in America’s schools, here’s another item fresh from the headlines in Utah:
A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world — and that’s where some say the problem lies…

… Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included, “I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating.

“It’s very inappropriate to show a radical, leftist propaganda piece that political to children,” Ruzicka said. “If parents want their children to learn about those things and do them in the home, wonderful, fine, but it’s not the place of the school to show a one-sided propaganda piece to children without parents knowing about it.”

Cieslewicz said such values should be decided in the home, not at school.

Excerpt from a Cat's Diary...

Day 983 of my captivity....

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

Obama Advisor Van Jones: Republicans are "A$$holes"

Van Jones, Special Advisor for Green Jobs, the White House Council on Environmental Quality. February 11, 2009, Berkeley, CA. From a lecture Jones gave at the 2nd Annual Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative (BERC) event.

Morning Coffee

A man and his wife were having an argument about who

should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, 'You should do it because you get up first,

and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.

The husband said, 'You are in charge of cooking around here and

you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.'

Wife replies, 'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man
should do the coffee.'

Husband replies, 'I can't believe that, show me.'

So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of
several pages, that it indeed says 'HEBREWS'

The Gorilla And The Redneck

A small zoo in West Virginia obtained a very rare species of gorilla. Within a few weeks the gorilla, a female, became very difficult to handle.

Upon examination, the veterinarian determined the problem. The gorilla was in heat. To make matters worse, there was no male gorilla available.

Thinking about their problem, the Zoo Keeper thought of Bobby Lee Walton, a redneck part-time worker responsible for cleaning the animal cages.

Bobby Lee, like most rednecks, had little sense but possessed ample ability to satisfy a female of any species..

The Zoo Keeper thought they might have a solution. Bobby Lee was approached with a proposition. Would he be willing to mate with the gorilla for $500.00?

Bobby Lee showed some interest, but said he would have to think the matter over carefully. The following day, he announced that he would accept their offer, but only under four conditions:

"First", Bobby Lee said, "I ain't gonna kiss her on the lips." The Keeper quickly agreed to this condition.

"Second", he said, "You can't never tell no one about this." The Keeper again readily agreed to this condition.

"Third", Bobby Lee said, "I want all the children raised Southern Baptist." Once again it was agreed.

And last, Bobby Lee said "I'll need another week to come up with the $500.00

Sentenced To Death On The NHS

Patients with terminal illnesses are being made to die prematurely under an NHS scheme to help end their lives, leading doctors warn today.

In a letter to The Daily Telegraph, a group of experts who care for the terminally ill claim that some patients are being wrongly judged as close to death.

Under NHS guidance introduced across England to help doctors and medical staff deal with dying patients, they can then have fluid and drugs withdrawn and many are put on continuous sedation until they pass away.

But this approach can also mask the signs that their condition is improving, the experts warn.

As a result the scheme is causing a “national crisis” in patient care, the letter states. It has been signed palliative care experts including Professor Peter Millard, Emeritus Professor of Geriatrics, University of London, Dr Peter Hargreaves, a consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Luke’s cancer centre in Guildford, and four others.

“Forecasting death is an inexact science,”they say. Patients are being diagnosed as being close to death “without regard to the fact that the diagnosis could be wrong.

“As a result a national wave of discontent is building up, as family and friends witness the denial of fluids and food to patients."

The warning comes just a week after a report by the Patients Association estimated that up to one million patients had received poor or cruel care on the NHS.
