Scrap Yards Get Busy Crushing Clunkers
Auto recyclers hope to make profit; effects on market uncertain
Jim Biggs, yard supervisor at B&F Towing Co. in New Castle, Del., is getting ready to destroy a 1997 green Nissan Pathfinder SUV that looks in pretty good shape except for some wear and tear.
“They’re nicer than what we’re used to crushing,” said Biggs. He climbed into a front-end loader and drove over to the Pathfinder to take it on its final journey to a giant compactor known as a “car crusher.”
The government’s hugely popular “Cash for Clunkers” program is keeping B&F and other scrap yards across the country busy crushing roadworthy vehicles and sending them on for shredding.

Williams' father said he was "flabbergasted" by the sentence, the maximum issued for a contempt charge without a jury trial. "It seems to me like a yawn is an involuntary action," Clifton Williams Sr. told the newspaper.

"I always firmly believe that if you are elected to a local office (Mayor or City Council) that your allegiance remains to the citizens and to the town. Not to a higher political party. I don't live in Salisbury, but I am ashamed of the way that town has been run. Ireton ran on the concept of fixing the problems in town. And though it will take a few years to make these changes for the better a reality. He has shown the citizens nothing to make them believe it is going to happen. He should not be doing anything but serving the citizens (the ones that elected him, and the ones that didn't). Stay out of other Politics, it is corrupt enough, and what you say won't make a difference. Be the Mayor the City of Salisbury needs."

Rush Limbaugh Is Wrong About Congressman Hanged In Effigy
Dear Rush,
http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2009/07/kratovil-protest-couple-of-over-zealous.html
A friend of mine just called me and told me you did a segment stating you had never seen a Congressman hanged in effigy. While I'm a Republican, I was the Blogger who attended the event and took the photo. In fact, the DNC STOLE my photo without permission and or credit and have used it in on line fundraiser's for Frank Kratovil AND created a commercial aired on Fox News and across the Internet AFTER we made contact with them demanding they stop using it.
Here's the article on that story. http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2009/08/dnc-steals-to-raise-money-for-frank.html

Delaware Beaches Some of the Cleanest in the Nation, Inland Bays Not So Much
So what beaches should you flock to for enjoying what is left of summer? The report gave four stars to Delaware’s Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany and Fenwick Island beaches and five starts to Maryland’s Ocean City beaches. Higher ratings would have gone to Delaware’s beaches if the water had been sampled with greater frequency.
What exactly does this testing mean and what does it tell you about the safety of your beach outings? In order to get the samples, testers wade out into water, collect a sample and send it back to the lab for testing. While there they also test the water for salinity, temperature and oxygen levels. The samples are analyzed at the lab to determine if there are any bacteria present that could indicate that human waste products or other harmful substances are in the water. In Delaware, these tests are performed once a week during the warmer months of the year to ensure water quality stays high and public safety in ensured.
Unfortunately, while Oceanside beaches may be some of the cleanest in the nation inland beaches and bays don’t fare so well. This year Delaware has seen the closing of Seashore State Park bayside at Tower Road and Holts Landing Beach due to high levels of bacteria in the water. These areas are not alone, as a permanent caution remains in place for Indian River Bay, Rehoboth Bay and Little Assawoman Bay. While these levels are not alarmingly high, they do a mark a need to protect beaches of all kinds from harmful pollutants to ensure they can stay open and conducive to the economic interests of the area.

Veterinarians Using Stem Cells To Treat Animals
MIAMI - Five-year-old Lucy the Labradoodle's back limbs have been rendered unusable by rheumatoid arthritis, and she must scoot along the ground with her front paws to grab a bone. Her owners believe that a costly stem-cell treatment is the reason she's even lived as long as she has.
In fact, they say, she seems to be improving. She no longer yelps or whimpers in pain, and she needs far less medicine than before. Lucy's owners credit the stem cell treatment, despite what experts say is a lack of evidence such treatments work.

Key Dem Feels Heat After Voting For House Plan
Rep. Hill finds himself a target after helping put off a vote on health reform
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - "The war's on," says Rep. Baron P. Hill, and he's not talking about a conflict overseas, but a battle over health care in his own back yard, where thousands of people are trying to tell him what to do, some not so nicely.
Hill is a leader of the Blue Dogs, the caucus of 51 conservative Democrats whose hard-bargaining support is critical to President Obama's bid to overhaul the health system. He came home on recess to find himself a target of groups that want to steer the August conversation and the autumn vote.
These weeks are considered crucial, with Obama traveling the country and interest groups, as varied as the AARP and the insurance industry, spending millions on advertising. Hill, a blunt and pragmatic politician known for moving cautiously, helped postpone a final House vote to give lawmakers time to assess attitudes at home.

Why Was Jim Ireton Elected Mayor?
If you ask the vast majority of those that voted for him, you would be told that Salisbury voters elected Jim Ireton mayor because they were concerned about crime, taxes, city services and wasteful government spending. Yet, if you listened to Ireton this morning on WICO you would walk away thinking that Ireton believes that he was elected to promote ObamaCare and shill for “his friend” Frank Kratovil.
While comparing voters to an orchestrated mob, Ireton accused the very people who elected him mayor of being mindless tools of the right. If he honestly believes that, it’s his right. I’m also disappointed.
Regardless of his personal opinions, Ireton needs to focus on the issues that got him elected. He needs to handle obvious problems in his own house, such as who is leaking personnel documents to the press and the Barrie Comegys house blog.
School starts in less than a month Jim. Salisbury voters expect you be working for them, not campaigning for Frank Kratovil.
Thirty Days Until Delaware Welcome Center Travel Plaza Closes For Renovations
Thirty Days until Delaware Welcome Center Travel Plaza Closes for Renovations
Ten month closure begins Sept. 8
Newark -- Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and contractor HMSHost Corporation remind travelers that the Delaware Welcome Center Travel Plaza will close in 30 days.
At 1 a.m. Sept. 8, 2009, the existing travel plaza on I-95 near Newark will close so that construction can begin on the new Welcome Center. As soon as next summer, travelers can expect to see a 42,000-square-foot main building and 5,700 square-foot gas facility, including a convenience store, and 21 fuel pumps that will also include high-speed diesel fuel dispensers. The main facility will incorporate many elements of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards in design and construction. Energy and water conservation equipment and fixtures will be used throughout the facility in conjunction with local stone and recycled materials.
DelDOT and HMSHost will work closely with the Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO), the Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau and other state and local tourism agencies to create a new Delaware State Visitor Center, within the Welcome Center. The Visitor Center will provide information on local and statewide attractions, events and activities. An upgrade to the entire parking lot will include a new truck parking area, a new Sunoco gas service station and an A Plus Convenience Store. This site will be environmentally friendly with the addition of 50 spaces of Cabaire truck parking with anti-idle truck electrification hookups. One of the retail stores will be "Postcards from Delaware" - home to regional Delaware products that highlight the state's distinctive history, heritage and culture.
Construction will last for about ten months. Approximately 250 jobs will be created throughout the renovation timeframe. When complete, the new Welcome Center will employ 225 HMSHost associates.
Beginning in June 2010, HMSHost will stagger the openings, delivering the Sunoco gas station and the A Plus convenience store first, followed by new food and retail offerings. Brand name food outlets and retailers will include: Baja Fresh, Z Market, Starbucks Coffee, Burger King, Brioche Doree Bakery Cafe, Cinnabon/Carvel and Famous Famiglia Pizza. Annually more than 3 million people made the existing plaza a stop on their travel itinerary - a number sure to grow once the expanded offerings are available in 2010.

Health Reform Idea: Put Down The Doughnut
Critics say consequences of individual choice missing from reform debate
If you ask Dr. Steven Spady, there are two important words missing from the nation’s conversation about health reform: “personal responsibility.”
But Spady, a 54-year-old emergency physician in rural Kentucky, can’t talk about the topic right now. He’s too busy caring for people who he says don’t take care of themselves.
“I just had to go take care of man that left our hospital this morning and now has gone and got drunk and will suck up more health care dollars,” Spady wrote in a hurried e-mail late on a recent weeknight.

Do Fannie And Freddie Need A 'Bad Bank?'
As the Obama Administration mulls ways to reorganize the mortgage giants, the idea of creating a "bad bank" to hold toxic assets is back, but drawbacks remain
As the Administration weighs options for reorganizing Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE) in the wake of their dismal financial performance, a strategy that spawned a lot of chatter but little action earlier in the financial crisis may be back on the table. Months ago, policymakers and outside experts weighed the benefits of creating a "bad bank" to hold commercial banks' toxic assets, but the idea never gained traction. Now, some suggest, the concept could help to restructure the mortgage giants—but the hurdles that caused commercial banks to adopt a different solution remain.
Fannie Mae said on Aug. 6 that it lost $14.8 billion in the second quarter and plans to draw down another $10.7 billion from the federal government to balance its books. That brings to $85 billion the amount of funds that it and Freddie Mac have received from Uncle Sam since the government took over the companies last September, driving home just how shaky the government-sponsored entities remain. Small wonder, then, that speculation has resumed over what the government will ultimately do with the companies, which long functioned as publicly traded firms with a government-defined mission to bolster the housing markets.

Dead Body Found On Northwood Drive This Morning
545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget.. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations.
The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme
Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a
Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House?
Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not Replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
GO AHEAD - - - BE AN AMERICAN!!!
DNC Steals to Raise Money for Frank Kratovil
I guess “it’s for the children”. Why else would the Democrat National Committee steal the property of an American citizen in order to raise money and sell an idea that the majority of Americans clearly don’t want?
First, the DNC puts together a commercial (see below) that portrays average citizens who oppose ObamaCare as an angry mob. Included in that one minute spot is a photo of Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) being hung in effigy. This photo was stolen, without compensation or credit, from SbyNEWS.
That would be bad enough, but now the party of Obama is attempting to raise money from that same photo. The DNC followed up their commercial with an email, again claiming that all those who voice opposition to ObamaCare are somehow being orchestrated by the GOP, insurance companies, the KKK, the Masons, or pick your preferred boogeyman.
Poll after poll shows that a majority of Americans simply don’t want ObamaCare. Why does the DNC think it necessary to attack ordinary citizens who simply don’t want their health care to undergo the radical change proposed by Obama and congressional Democrats.
Stealing from citizens. Attacking citizens for expressing their opinions. Do Democrats really think that this is the way to win a debate?

Web Ad Features Kratovil
Washington - A photograph of Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil Jr. being hanged in effigy is prominently featured in a new national Democratic Party Web video that claims that public outbursts over President Barack Obama's health care overhaul plan are being manufactured by opponents.
The anti-Kratovil episode, during a small protest outside his Salisbury district office last week, gained notice at the time on the Internet and in the local news media. But the Democratic Party ad, and related comments by White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, figure to generate wider, and unwanted, attention on the freshman lawmaker, already one of the most vulnerable House Democrats in the country.
Kratovil spokesman Kevin Lawlor, who spoke with the protesters on July 27 in the shadow of the effigy of his boss, said the congressman had not yet seen the Web video, produced by the Democratic National Committee.
The aide said that the Eastern Shore representative values the opportunity to talk with his constituents and "he can put up with people who do what many would say crosses the line."
Like other House Democrats in Maryland and elsewhere, Kratovil has encountered shouting critics of the Obama plan at public meetings over the past week. Kratovil is opposed to the health care proposal as currently drafted but hasn't ruled out supporting a revised version.

British Medical Journal
Research the authenticity of this article. I did. Then if you still support this health bill & these people in DC.....you need help.
The following article was posted on the larouchepac.com website as further evidence of the deadly role he plays in advising the Obama Presidency on the Orwellian named Healthcare bill the administration is trying to ram through Congress. July 30, 2009 (LPAC)--Obama health-care policy advisor Ezekiel Emanuel announced a new "Complete Lives System" for selecting which sections of the population should be killed, in his article "Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions."
Published Jan. 31, 2009 in the British medical journal Lancet, Emanuel's euthansia-selection article appeared 11 days after President Obama's inauguration. Then on March 19, Emanuel was appointed to the Federal Coordinating Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research, to begin the design of a Federal system for withdrawing care from those chosen for death.
Though written in bloodless academic language, Emanuel's discourse most closely resembles one of Adolf Hitler's rambling pronouncements as know-it-all Fuehrer.
Emanuel sums up who is to be treated, and who is to die:
"When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated." This may be justified by public opinion, since "broad consensus favours adolescents over very young infants, and young adults over very elderly people."
Emanuel decrees that we must not kill only the elderly, but also infants.
"Strict youngest-first allocation directs scarce resources predominantly to infants. This approach seems incorrect. The death of a 20-year-old woman is intuitively worse than that of a 2-month-old girl, even though the baby has had less life. The 20-year-old has a much more developed personality than the infant, and has drawn upon the investment of others to begin as-yet-unfulfilled projects.... Adolescents have received substantial substantial education and parental care, investments that will be wasted without a complete life. Infants, by contrast, have not yet received these investments.... It is terrible when an infant dies, but worse, most people think, when a three-year-old child dies, and worse still when an adolescent does."
He proclaims his new "Complete Lives System" to be an advance over previous death-selection systems such as Quality-Adjusted Life Years and Disability-Adjusted Life Years.
He criticizes the random ("lottery") selection of those to be saved, as based on the supposedly unscientific notion that "each person's desire to stay alive should be regarded as of the same importance and deserving the same respect as that of anyone else." He claims that this attitude shows "blindness to many seemingly relevant factors. Random decisions between someone who can gain 40 years and someone who can gain only 4 months, or someone who has lived only 20 years, are inappropriate."
ROMBLAD FILES FOR FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF MARYLAND
Born in Prince Georges County Maryland, Grady Romblad relocated to Parsonsburg in Wicomico County Maryland with his family at age 7. After graduating from Parkside High School, Grady enlisted in the Army and served at Fort Bragg, North Carolina providing voice and data communications to the 18th Airborne Corps and its subordinate units. He participated in Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1996 Grady worked for MCI and then Nextel providing nationwide network support for both companies. In 2004, with his oldest child ready to enter kindergarten, Grady and his wife decided they wanted the children to grow up on the Eastern Shore. He and his wife relocated to back to Wicomico County. Grady started his own business and learned firsthand how difficult government regulation and taxation is for small business owners. In 2008 Grady accepted a contract position with Verizon working on a communications project for the United States Senate. He is now a stay at home dad taking care of his two children.
Grady Romblad is committed to listening to the Eastern Shore community and taking their concerns to Washington.” This is about listening to the people and representing the people of the First Congressional District and not politics as usual.” said Romblad.
Nancy's Nazi Shock: Did She Forget The Bush Years?
By John Leo
Nancy Pelosi is shocked by the presence of some swastikas at protests against Obamacare. Who ever heard of such a thing? Well, any mildly alert American old enough to remember the anti-war protests of 2003-2007. Images of George Bush with a Hitler mustache and a Nazi uniform was everywhere at swastika-choked marches and rallies. "Stop the Fourth Reich-Visualize Nuremburg," said one sign at a Hollywood march. "The Fuhrer already in his bunker," said another. Lots of Nazi regalia appeared at protests in Pelosi's San Francisco as well.
On far-left Internet sites, where basic Bush-Is-Hitler commentary became too familiar to attract attention, Bush aides were quickly assigned Nazi roles; Tom Ridge was the new Himmler and Colin Powell became Nazi Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop; Ari Fleisher, Karen Hughes and Karl Rove were all Josef Goebbels figures. Some thought Vice President Cheney was the most important Hitler figure - he commands "storm-trooper legions," said famous crackpot Lyndon LaRouche.
One fevered lefty connected Bush to Nero as well as Hitler, saying "Nero burned Rome, Hitler burned the Reichstag and Bush burned the World Trade Center."
An even more inventive commenter managed to link Rove to Josef Mengele, the depraved Nazi doctor nicknamed the Angel of Death: "Bush made up stories about John McCain, just as Josef Mengele conducted medical experiments on children in Auschwitz." What?
Donald Rumsfeld was the new Rommel. The Action Coalition of Taos, New Mexico, however, thought Rumsfeld was the real Hitler, since, like Adolf, he had a mountain retreat. In an op-ed published in Florida, Air Force veteran Douglas Herman, disagreed, saying Rumsfeld was more like Goering, because both men had been fighter pilots.
Mainstream commentary featured Nazi references too. Both Senator Robert Byrd and billionaire Democrat George Soros said Bush reminded them of Herman Goering.
During the 2004 presidential campaign, Al Gore used the term "brownshirts" (Nazi street thugs) to refer to Republican computer teams assigned to respond to criticism of Bush and the Iraq war.
Vanity Fair magazine nominated Richard Perle for the Goebbels role, running photos of both men under the headline "Separated at Birth?"
New York Times columnist Frank Rich managed to work in a reference to a famous Nazi filmmaker. He said a Showtime program on 9/11 was so favorable to Bush that it is "best viewed as a fitting memorial to Leni Riefenstahl."
The Rev. Andrew Greeley, sociologist and novelist, depicted Bush as a Hitler figure who carried American over to "the dark side."
Federal appeals judge Guido Calabresi offered a comparatively mild Nazi reference, saying the Bush's rise to power was reminiscent of the rise of Hitler and Mussolini, with the Supreme Court pushing him into the presidency with the Bush v. Gore decision.
Bush reminded the left of non-Nazi villains as well. He was depicted as Attila the Hun, serial killer Ted Bundy, Mussolini, Ahab, Hannibal Lecter, the Anti-Christ and Frankenstein's monster (on the cover of the British edition of book by New York Times columnist Paul Krugman).
As far as we know, Nancy Pelosi never complained about any of this. Maybe she didn't notice.

One Man's Opinion
However, 40%, Middle America, voted for Obama because they were sick of Bush......and I can not really blame them either......Bush and his cronies were no bargain....they enriched themselves at our expense....He made many egregious errors in judgment, least of all taking us to war on the specious claim of WMD in Iraq. Bush's eight years were at best a lackluster performance, like his speeches . His Patriot Act, while necessary, was constructed in such a way as to severely ignore and impinge on the rights of American Citizens.
Obama promised change and after eight years of Bush, many of us were ready for change, any change. So about 40% of Americans voted for the "New Face" of a "Non-Beltway Insider" who sincerely and effectively promised "Change". To Middle America, this did not seem unreasonable.
Voters no longer trusted the Republican Party. This is the same attitude that ushered in the Reign of Jimmy Carter, the peanut farmer, after the people became disaffected with President Nixon and the Republican party back in "77".
When Obama campaigned for the office of President, he spoke like a "Middle of the Road Centrist". Upon being elected, much to the chagrin of the voters that supported him, Obama shifted hard to the left.
I believe that that 40% is now, in the light of the last hundred days, having second thoughts. This website is for that 40%.
Please pass this on to those of the 40% that voted for Obama and now are having second thoughts. The website is aptly named the " I'm sorry I voted for Obama" website.. Pass this link along to those who voted for him and may now feel different. This is the part of the electorate that is changeable and may decide to vote against him in 2012.
