Ocean City Beach Patrol Coverage Reduced As Seasonal Employees Head Home

Ocean City, Maryland – (August 27, 2019): As seasonal staff beings to dwindle, the Ocean City Beach Patrol is reminding residents and beachgoers that the number of surf rescue technicians (lifeguards) working will also decrease. While there will be no unguarded areas of the beach, the number of available lifeguard towers will change, as will the location and distance between stands.

Despite reduced weekday coverage, the OCBP will have returning surf rescue technicians to allow increased stands on weekends. During this time, the OCBP will also increase the number of mobile rescue units patrolling the beach to assist with coverage. This annual reduced coverage structure begins the third week in August and is largely due to the start of college classes and the return of the Ocean City Beach Patrol’s (OCBP) education professionals whom start school throughout the mid-Atlantic.

The Ocean City Beach Patrol will be on duty daily between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. through Sunday, September 22. As weekly coverage reduces, the Beach Patrol suggests taking extra precaution and making sure to walk the short distance to swim near a lifeguard. Finally, OCBP strongly encourages all beach patrons to restrict any beach or water-related activities to times and locations when and where beach patrol personnel are on duty.

Remember, “Keep Your Feet in the Sand, Until a Lifeguard is in the Stand!”

Review: ‘Thank You For My Service’

Mat Best is an American man's man, someone who loves "man s—t like beards and whiskey and guns and hot chicks in American flag bikinis." Beneath layers of playful, irreverent humor, Best’s memoir Thank You For My Service is a serious book about a former Army Ranger navigating his way back into civilian life, overcoming an addiction to war, and trying to support his fellow veterans.

Best's book covers everything—his decision to join the military out of high school, his deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, and more than a modest portion of his sex life. After serving multiple deployments in Iraq, he wrestled with the question of whether to stay in the military.

"Was I going to age too rapidly and burn myself out over here and miss all of my twenties if I stayed? Probably. Would it be more rewarding to stay? Maybe. Would I regret not giving the carefree twenties a shot? I didn’t know," Best writes.

Schlichter: Get Ready For Apocalypse Ruth

Progressives’ ghoulish glee over the death of an old man turned into barely constrained panic when, later that day, it was revealed that their heroine Ruth Bader Ginsberg was just treated for pancreatic cancer yet again. Their disgraceful joy at David Koch’s passing was yet another reminder of the harsh truth that leftists want you dead or enslaved. Koch’s sin was that he disagreed with liberals (though, in important ways, also with conservatives). For that, these cretins danced around like idiots celebrating his succumbing. And they’ll celebrate when you die too. Always believe people who tell you they hate you and want you dead.

Oh, and never disarm.

Of course, RBG is eager to disarm you, and she would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for those meddling Supreme Court kids who actually read Second Amendment. Her constitutional jurisprudence consists of disregarding what she dislikes that’s in the Bill of Rights and making up stuff that’s not in it but that she feels – not thinks, feels – should be in it. She’s a terrible justice and conservatives would love to see her step down. But our side expressed no delight in her latest suffering comparable to the giddy revelry that greeted Koch’s kicking the bucket. We’re not monsters, though how long that remains true is up in the air. When you establish New Rulesthey tend to come back and bite you on the Schumer.

Moderator Shocked by Lack of Native American Enthusiasm for Warren

The moderator at a Native American forum was shocked on Monday after Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) received very little enthusiasm about her potential election.

Warren participated in the presidential forum on Native American issues in Sioux, City, IA, where she apologized for the "harm" she caused for her past claims of Native American ancestry.

"It's a wonderful day and Native Americans across this country should celebrate. Today we're sharing the stage with a future president perhaps," the moderator said.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash-Seaford

Seaford- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier today.

The incident occurred on August 27, 2019 at approximately 9:51 a.m., when a 2017 Honda CRV and a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse were stopped on Atlanta Road west of Bucks Branch Road at the direction of a flagger, who was working in conjunction with a roadside tree maintenance company. A 2009 Dodge Ram Pick-up truck was traveling westbound on Atlanta Road approaching the stopped vehicles at full speed. For unknown reasons the operator of the Pick-up truck failed to perceive the stopped vehicles and struck the rear of the Traverse. The impact caused the Traverse to strike the rear of the CRV. The Pick-up truck continued in a northwesterly direction and struck the right front of the CRV before driving off the north edge of the roadway into the roadside foliage.

The operator of the CRV, a 29-year-old female from Seaford, DE was properly restrained. She was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A one-year-old child was also in the vehicle, properly retrained and uninjured.

The operator of the Traverse, a 66-year-old female from Seaford, DE was properly restrained. She was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Dodge Ram, a 24-year-old male from Seaford, DE was not properly restrained. He was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Atlanta Road in the area of Bucks Branch Road was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Harris Announces More Than $69,000 in Awards to Eastern Shore Small Businesses and Farms

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced $69,102 in awards through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development. The following businesses and farmers received awards on the Eastern Shore of Maryland: Choptank Corner LLC, in Cambridge, James B. Quinn, in Kennedyville, Rice’s Inc. in Salisbury, Smartech Electrical Inc, in Chestertown, Williamson Farms LLC, in Mardela Springs, and Wilson Farm, in East New Market.

The USDA allotted these awards under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). It also can be used to make energy efficiency improvements to heating, ventilation and cooling systems; insulation; and lighting and refrigeration.”

Congressman Harris made the following statement:

“I understand the importance of economic growth in rural America and I support our local communities. As a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Subcommittee of the Committee on Appropriations, I welcome this investment in the Eastern Shore to support our hardworking small business owners, employees, and farmers. These awards will save energy, reduce electricity bills, and help make the Eastern Shore more economically competitive.”

PA President Abbas: ‘Millions Of Fighters’ Will Take Over Jerusalem

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas threatened this week that "million of fighters" would swarm Jerusalem and topple the Jewish state's capital city, warning that "no matter how many houses and how many settlements they declare that they [plan to build] here and there—they shall all be destroyed."

Abbas, in an Arabic language speech at Jalazone Refugee Camp near Ramallah that was heavy with threats of destruction, doubled down on the Palestinian government's policy of using public money to pay convicted terrorists and their families, telling his audience, "We will not accept their designation of our martyrs as terrorists. Our martyrs are the martyrs of the homeland."

Abbas went on to rally those in attendance to swarm the city of Jerusalem and destroy all Jewish people living there. His remarks are the clearest sign to date that the leader has no interest in playing a role in a revamped peace process spearheaded by President Donald Trump's White House.

Students for Trump Launches ‘Get Out The Vote’ Campaign

Students for Trump hosted its official launch party on Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada for its new “Get Out The Vote” campaign. The organization says that students from over 1,500 college and high school campuses across the country were present at the event.

Turning Point USA told Breitbart News that since its sister 501(c)(4) organization Turning Point Action (TPAction) announced its acquisition of the Students for Trump (SFT) name and social media assets — along with co-chair Ryan Fournier — the organization has received over 2,500 chapter inquiries at Division I universities alone.

“TPAction and SFT look to take ground in places the Democrats aren’t expecting to defend, places they need to win frankly,” said Charlie Kirk in a statement to Breitbart News. “President Trump has an undeniable connection with young people that very few on the right have ever harnessed.”

“They love his authenticity, his fearlessness when dealing with the press, and they love that he understands conservative meme culture and social media,” added Kirk. “If age is just a number, then this president is the living embodiment of that idea. He has more energy than most college kids, and they see that and respect it.”

The organization says that its Get Out the Vote campaign will focus on battleground states like Michigan and North Carolina, and will deploy a field team to assist students with maintaining a physical presence on their campuses.

ICYMI: Ocasio-Cortez Tried To Lecture Us On The Electoral College Again…It Was A Total Disaster

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has found a new enemy: The Electoral College. The freshman Democrat appears to be taking a break from defending her anti-Semitic colleagues, pushing the Green New Scam, and other socialist policies to bash an institution that’s become the latest subject of rage for Democrats who simply cannot let the 2016 election go. In our history, there have only been five times where the winner has won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. And yet, we’re still here. And let’s use the word “lost” loosely for 2016; Clinton didn’t break 50 percent in that category either. Well, let’s to the reasons why AOC hates this institution (via The Hill):
Ocasio-Cortez made her argument on … an Instagram story that includes her driving along a deserted highway and quipping, "many votes here, as you can see."

Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean I can’t think of any other way, can you?" Ocasio-Cortez says, before going on to cite a report from New York Magazine that argues the defenses of the system that determines the winner of presidential elections are flawed.

Maryland Attorney General News Releases Attorney General Frosh Joins Lawsuit Opposing Trump Administration’s Rule Allowing Prolonged Detention of Children

BALTIMORE, MD (August 26, 2019) – Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today announced he is joining a coalition of 20 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit opposing the Trump administration’s new rule to allow prolonged detention of immigrant children in U.S. custody.

In the complaint before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the coalition argues that the rule eliminates several critical protections guaranteed by the Flores Settlement Agreement, which has governed the treatment of children in immigration custody since 1997.  In particular, the prolonged detention risked by the rule would cause irreparable harm to children, their families, and the communities that accept them upon their release from federal custody.

“The Trump administration’s abuse of children is illegal and intolerable,” said Attorney General Frosh.  “The United States should not be taking children from their families, and it should not be holding children in prison-like conditions.  Our law and our policy have, for decades, required humane treatment of children.  This new, terrible idea will not stand.”

In the complaint, the coalition argues that the Trump administration’s final rule interferes with the states’ ability to help ensure the health, safety, and welfare of children by undermining state licensing requirements for facilities where children are held.  The rule would result in the vast expansion of family detention centers, which are not state-licensed facilities and historically have caused significant trauma and long-term negative health consequences in children.  The attorneys general argue the rule violates both the Administrative Procedure Act and the due process clause of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The Flores Settlement Agreement stems from a class action lawsuit filed before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 1985 in response to substandard conditions of confinement for unaccompanied immigrant children.  The lawsuit sought to establish standards for how the federal government should handle the detention of minors, including plaintiff Jenny Lisette Flores.  In particular, the plaintiffs expressed significant concerns about the use of strip searches, forcing children to share living quarters and bathrooms with adults of the opposite sex, and a prohibition on minors being released to non-guardian relatives, leading to prolonged and cruel detention of children.  Following litigation that moved through the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court, the federal government eventually reached a settlement with class counsel in 1997 resulting, among other things, in:
  • Release of children “without unnecessary delay” to their parents, legal guardians, other adult relatives, another individual designated by the parents/guardians, or a licensed program willing to accept legal custody;
  • Placing children in the “least restrictive setting” appropriate to the minor’s age and special needs; and
  • Establishment of standards for safe and sanitary conditions of confinement for children in immigration detention.

In filing today’s lawsuit, Attorney General Frosh joins the attorneys general of California, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.

How Jefferson Lost Some Luster in His Own Hometown

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia—The Camp Ten Four restaurant, on the ninth and top floor of the Graduate Charlottesville hotel, offers a good view of much of this city associated with Thomas Jefferson.

Sitting at a table in the rustic venue, Charlottesville resident Pat Napoleon expresses concern about what she sees as city leaders’ dishonoring the founder of Monticello and the University of Virginia—both staples of this area’s identity.

“We are all just horrified by how this town is attacking Thomas Jefferson,” she tells The Daily Signal, suggesting that her view is widely shared by those who put the third president’s ownership of hundreds of slaves in historical context.

JOINT COMMITTEE REPORT SHOWS NO WRONGDOING IN RECORDKEEPING AT THE INTERIOR DEPARTMENT

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Congressman Rob Bishop (R-UT), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, released a staff report detailing how the evidence before the Committees to date shows that the Department of Interior’s recordkeeping practices are in full compliance with federal law.
Background:
Approximately six months ago, Chairman Elijah Cummings and Chairman Raul Grijalva initiated partisan investigations into allegations that the DOI was hiding meetings taken by then-Acting Secretary David Bernhardt. Traditionally, the Oversight and Reform Committee has overseen compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and records management laws on a bipartisan basis. Chairman Cummings opened his investigation without consulting Republican Committee Members. Likewise, in an unprecedented and overbroad initial document request, Chairman Grijalva requested the entirety of Bernhardt’s calendars and schedules from the time of his confirmation as the Deputy Secretary of the Interior without consulting a single Republican Natural Resources Committee Member.
Bernhardt and DOI have cooperated extensively with the Chairmen’s investigations. DOI has produced tens of thousands of pages of documents, including Bernhardt’s calendars, daily cards, and scheduling emails. DOI has also made four employees available for day-long interviews with the Committees. The Committees have a comprehensive record from which to judge DOI’s compliance with federal law.
Read the full staff report here.
Key points from the staff report:
  • Contrary to allegations, Secretary Bernhardt takes his ethics obligations very seriously. Bernhardt places an emphasis on ethics. As Secretary and Deputy Secretary, Bernhardt implemented several new procedures to ensure he complied with his ethics requirements. These procedures exceed any requirements ever implemented for previous secretaries or deputy secretaries.
  • Contrary to allegations, Secretary Bernhardt is not hiding his meetings from the public. The Department publishes Bernhardt’s meetings on its official website and makes scheduling documents available on its official website. Although discrepancies may exist between varying types of Bernhardt’s scheduling documents, the different purposes of the documents explain such discrepancies. The discrepancies do not evidence that Bernhardt is nefariously hiding his meetings.
  •  Contrary to allegations, Secretary Bernhardt is not using vague meeting labels to hide his meeting participants. The Department publishes Bernhardt’s meetings, including attendees, each week on its official website. Bernhardt’s calendars are created for internal use-not for a public audience. The use of vague meeting labels does not suggest an effort to hide his meetings, and witnesses denied any effort to hide the Secretary’s meetings.
  • Contrary to allegations, Secretary Bernhardt’s calendar records are appropriately preserved. Bernhardt’s calendar records are preserved, have been produced to the Committees, and are available on the Department’s official website. Following an independent review, the National Archives determined that the Department has appropriately preserved the Secretary’s calendar records.
  • The Trump Administration has cooperated extensively with Chairman Cummings’s and Chairman Grijalva’s investigation. Contrary to Chairman Cummings’s assertions of a “cover-up” on all congressional investigations and Chairman Grijalva’s allegation that Bernhardt treats “congressional requests for information as a nuisance he can ignore,” the Department has cooperated with this investigation. The Department has voluntarily produced documents and made several witnesses available for day-long transcribed interviews. The Department has been transparent and forthcoming in responding to all of the chairmen’s partisan demands.

The fantasy of being disconnected

It takes a boat ride, in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, to get me to finally feel offline. Which makes me feel pretty sad. But it reminds me of the impossible goal I keep failing to attain: staying away from screens. Or, more accurately, the internet.

It feels impossible to disconnect because I work in tech. I review phones. I wear headsets (sometimes on vacation). I have watches on my wrists. What absurdity am I discussing, me being disconnected from tech? It's more that I've realized my attention being sapped away. Or my kid saying to me, hey, spend less time on the screen. Which only proves that I've become known as the Person With a Phone on Their Face.

I've tried screen-time limitations, cutting off notifications and being in the present moment like Sherry Turkle, who's studied online behavioral psychology for years, wrote about back in 2015 in her excellent book Reclaiming Conversation. I've never found screen timers to work. Not for me. They feel like fitness trackers without the coaching.

What has worked? Spending a week and a half, roughly, where I go as offline as I ever can. It's become a tradition each summer: I've joined my in-laws to go across the Atlantic. I've done this, now, six times.

I didn't expect to be this person who cannot unplug. And you don't need to be this person, either.

Judge orders Johnson & Johnson to pay Oklahoma $572 million for fueling state's opioid crisi

An Oklahoma judge found Johnson & Johnson guilty in fueling the state's opioid crises and ordered the corporation to pay $572 million in a landmark ruling with vast implications. The ruling by Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman in Norman in favor of the state against Johnson & Johnson is one of the biggest monetary awards in U.S. history.

In making his ruling, Judge Balkman said Johnson & Johnson bears responsibility for helping to fuel the state's opioid epidemic by aggressively marketing painkillers. Judge Balkman took about a month to make this judgement after a seven-week trial.

"We showed how the company repeatedly ignored warnings by the federal governments and its own scientific advisers about the dangers of its drugs and the risks of marketing its products the way it did," said Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter during a press conference on Monday. "We have proven that Johnson & Johnson have built its billion dollar brand out of greed and on the backs of pain and suffering of innocent people."

A brief statement by Johnson & Johnson said, "Johnson & Johnson plans to appeal the opioid judgment in Oklahoma."

Embattled Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam under fire over appointee with history of anti-Catholic tweets

Months after racism allegations dogged Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s administration, the state’s top Democrat is now facing scrutiny over a political appointee with a history of anti-Catholic comments.

Gail Gordon Donegan, appointed earlier this month to the Virginia Council on Women, a state body focused on women's issues, mocked the Catholic Church's struggle with sexual abuse among its clergy in a series of tweets going back to 2010.

Northam's appointee also targeted a sacred Catholic ritual and directed vulgar tweets at other targets, including Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, in tweets uncovered by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Silicon Valley is building a Chinese-style social credit system

Have you heard about China’s social credit system? It’s a technology-enabled, surveillance-based nationwide program designed to nudge citizens toward better behavior. The ultimate goal is to “allow the trustworthy to roam everywhere under heaven while making it hard for the discredited to take a single step,” according to the Chinese government.

In place since 2014, the social credit system is a work in progress that could evolve by next year into a single, nationwide point system for all Chinese citizens, akin to a financial credit score. It aims to punish for transgressions that can include membership in or support for the Falun Gong or Tibetan Buddhism, failure to pay debts, excessive video gaming, criticizing the government, late payments, failing to sweep the sidewalk in front of your store or house, smoking or playing loud music on trains, jaywalking, and other actions deemed illegal or unacceptable by the Chinese government.

It can also award points for charitable donations or even taking one’s own parents to the doctor.

Punishments can be harsh, including bans on leaving the country, using public transportation, checking into hotels, hiring for high-visibility jobs, or acceptance of children to private schools. It can also result in slower internet connections and social stigmatization in the form of registration on a public blacklist.

G-7 Summit: Trump Strikes 'Billion-Dollar' Trade Deal with Japan

“A deal is all but sealed with Japan,” Fox Business reports. “It’s a very big transaction and we’ve agreed in principle,” President Donald J. Trump confirmed alongside Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after a meeting at the G-7 summit in Biarritz, France.

President Trump said the Prime Minister agreed to purchase large sums of American farmers’ corn and “expects the billion-dollar deal to be sealed by the time the U.N. General Assembly meets in mid-September.”

“America has the upper hand in the ongoing trade negotiations with China, and the temporary reprieve that President Trump recently gave the Chinese regime is only further proof that our strong economy grants us a degree of flexibility that Beijing can’t hope to match,” former CKE Restaurants CEO Andy Puzder and former Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO) write for RealClearPolitics. “Our decision to finally get tough on trade with China is having far less of a negative impact on the U.S. economy than establishment American commentators and politicians predicted.”
If you're wondering why people don't trust the media, look no further than CNN’s recent hiring of embattled former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, the Washington Examiner editorial board writes. “CNN has sent a clear message to those in government: If you lose your position of public trust because you lie under oath, you can always land a job at CNN — at least as long as your lie was for a good cause, such as the resistance to Trump, or presumably to whatever Republican presidents are elected in the future.”
“Here’s some good and important news that got scant attention in much of the media: The Environmental Protection Agency recently released its annual Air Trends report, which found that air pollution across the U.S. continues to decline,” former EPA official Mandy Gunasekara writes for Fox News. “It turns out that his administration’s pragmatic approach to the environment has provided a clearly measurable boost to both the economy and the air. Americans are breathing the cleanest air on record.”

Frosh, DC Counterpart Ask Court To Rehear Emoluments Case

Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh said Monday he and his Washington, D.C., counterpart have re-filed to have their suit against President Donald Trump heard by a full panel of a circuit court's judges.

"We are asking the entire 4th Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear our case," Frosh tweeted. "We will keep fighting to stop President Trump from violating the Emoluments Clauses. No federal court of appeals has ever short-circuited litigation this way.”

In July, a three-judge panel ruled Maryland and the District of Columbia lacked standing in their case. The two jurisdictions claim Trump is accepting illegal profits from foreign and state government visitors at his Washington hotel.

Report: Baltimore Police 'Afraid To Arrest Anyone' Out Of Fear Of Political Backlash

In the wake of Freddie Gray's 2015 death while in Baltimore police custody, the city installed a series of reforms -- such as the consent decree -- aimed at giving more transparency for the department and how they treat suspects. But the intended consequence of the measures is that many police feel they cannot enforce the law, and that elected leaders simply look for any excuse they can to throw officers under the bus if it helps them politically. New evidence shows this is making the city more dangerous.

In 2017, Baltimore started the consent decree. Its goal was "to have a stronger police department that fights crime while it serves and protects the civil and constitutional rights of Baltimore City residents."

It required a series of internal reporting, documentation, and justification for all arrests and interactions with the public. But, a recent report shows that the city's goal is not being reached.

5 big takeaways from President Trump at the G-7 Summit

President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump return home after attending this year’s G-7 Summit in Biarritz, France. President Trump met with world leaders to strengthen our alliances, secure better trade deals, and—as always—keep the interests of the American people front and center on the global stage.

The summit began in 1975 as an opportunity for world leaders to meet face-to-face and find solutions to the most pressing modern-day global challenges.

This year was no exception, as President Trump worked with our allies to chart a course toward even more prosperity both here at home and around the world. Here are a few of the biggest takeaways from the trip:

  • A message of unity. President Trump and President Emmanuel Macron of host nation France held a joint press conference earlier today. Over the weekend, they worked together to achieve progress on a number of fronts, including global security, fair trade practices, and better economic opportunity for all. “I want to thank you very much, Mr. President, for the incredible job you did. This is a truly successful G-7,” President Trump said.

  • Securing a billion-dollar trade deal. One of the biggest wins from the summit was President Trump’s announcement of locking in a trade agreement with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. The deal secures market access for a number of American agricultural goods, and Japan has agreed to purchase large sums of our farmers’ corn.

  • Promoting USMCA. With Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by his side, President Trump talked about the importance of expanding America’s trading partnership with our neighbors by passing the U.S.–Mexico–Canada Agreement. With both Canada and Mexico having essentially finalized it, President Trump noted that it’s time for American lawmakers to do the same. “Our farmers love it, the unions love it, the workers love it, manufacturers love it . . . hopefully that’ll be put to a vote very soon.”

  • Developing stronger trade with Europe. While meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Trump discussed how best to meet global and regional security challenges and previewed even better trade relations to come with Germany and the European Union. Germany is “a great trading partner,” he said. “And we probably think we’re going to be upping the trade over a very short period of time.”

  • Helping to reduce India-Pakistan tensions. In his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, President Trump reaffirmed the need for dialogue between India and Pakistan and also worked to build on the great economic relations between our nations.
