Judicial Watch Uncovers New Documents Detailing Pelosi's Use of Air Force Aircraft for Her Family in 2010

Washington, DC — July 21, 2011

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained new documents from the United States Air Force (USAF) detailing then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s use of USAF aircraft in 2010. The records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which include flight manifests, expense summaries, copies of receipts and Congressional correspondence, detail a number of trips made by Speaker Pelosi in 2010, including:

A May 6-10, 2010, Congressional Delegation to Afghanistan and Germany “to discuss issues of mutual interest in Qatar and Afghanistan, as well as conduct oversight on women’s issues (troops) in Afghanistan and to visit with US troops and meet with government officials in Germany.” The total cost of military travel was $204,135.00. The records indicate then-Speaker Pelosi made a personal request that the “maximum per diem allowance be made available at the enhanced rate of an additional $50.”

Numerous trips were made by Speaker Pelosi between San Francisco and Andrews Air Force Base. Several of these trips included members of Speaker Pelosi’s family, including her husband, daughter, granddaughters and son-in law. For example, one “Staff Summary Sheet” detailing a January 4, 2010, flight from San Francisco to Andrews Air Force Base notes that Pelosi’s daughter Christina “owes for $99.00 (flight) and $7.82 (meal).” The documents suggest that the Speaker’s office was billed for the fees but do not indicate whether the bills were paid.

A January 7-11, 2010, Congressional Delegation to Detroit, Michigan, for the expressed purpose of reviewing “the impact of congressional appropriations and policy in promoting innovation, technological development and job creation in US auto industry.” The Detroit trip required $24,336.60 in commercial air travel and an additional $10,046.87 in expenses. The Pentagon also paid for military escorts for the trip.

One document notes that the mode of transportation for the trip would be “Comair and Milair,” (commercial air travel and military air travel). However, the only cost related to the military portion of the transportation detailed in the records is a $15,000 advance secured for ground transportation, meals and lodging. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) drove himself to Detroit and sought $228 in mileage reimbursement. A total of 24 House Members (16 Democrats, 8 Republicans), led by then-Speaker Pelosi and then-Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), were on the list of trip participants.

Trump rips BuzzFeed after Mueller team disputes Cohen report

President Trump blasted BuzzFeed News late Friday night on Twitter — saying it was a “very sad day for journalism” — after the special counsel disputed the media outlet’s report on his alleged real estate deal with the Russians.

“Remember it was Buzzfeed that released the totally discredited ‘Dossier,’ paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats (as opposition research), on which the entire Russian probe is based!” Trump tweeted. “A very sad day for journalism, but a great day for our Country!”

The president went on to say that “fake news is truly the ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!” — and he also re-tweeted a pair of posts made by Geraldo Rivera, which ridiculed BuzzFeed as well.

Animal shelters are becoming inundated with ‘mini pigs’

METHUEN, Ma. –– Georgenia Murray’s daughter begged her for a mini pig after seeing one online.

The Massachusetts mother finally caved.

Several months and $2,500 later, the Murrays found out firsthand that the “mini pig” wasn’t going to stay so miniature after all.

“He ended up being close to 200 pounds,” Murray said. “He just kept growing and growing and growing.”

It turns out to be – quite literally – a growing problem. After celebrities like Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus got pet pigs within the past few years, animal shelters across the country are now facing an influx of fully grown pigs from owners who claimed they were duped.

Bruce Ohr: FBI, DOJ Knew Dossier was Dirty from the Beginning

Virtually everyone at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department involved in the FBI's counterintelligence probe of candidate Donald Trump knew from the beginning that the investigation, dubbed "Crossfire Hurricane," was based on shaky opposition research compiled by a Trump-hating former British spy and funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Bruce Ohr, the demoted associate attorney general, testified to Congress last August that he repeatedly warned top officials at the FBI and DOJ about Steele’s bias and Fusion GPS’s conflicts of interest, yet this information was kept hidden from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

And to add insult to injury, instead of investigating the officials who actively participated in the dossier hoax, Special Counsel Robert Mueller hired several of them to be on his team to investigate President Trump.

Steele, a former MI6 operative, was hired by Fusion GPS to find dirt on Trump after he clinched the Republican nomination.

Snow, Ice, Freezing Rain, Frigid Temperatures to Affect Maryland this Weekend

REISTERSTOWN, Md. — Winter weather is expected to affect the Mid-Atlantic and New England region beginning tomorrow, Saturday January 19, 2019.  According to the National Weather Service, here is what Maryland residents can expect:
  • The system will bring a mix of snow, ice, and freezing rain to most of our state.
  • Expect snow, sleet, and freezing rain accumulation which will make traveling conditions dangerous, with a couple of inches of snow and ice accumulation for the western and central portion of the state.
  • Winds will affect the state this weekend with gusts up to 30-40 mph.
  • Plan for potential power outages and flying debris.
  • On Sunday night, temperatures will dip into the dangerously low single digits.
“The forecast and track of the storm can change at any time, and that could potentially mean worsening weather and hazards for residents in parts of our state,” said Russ Strickland, MEMA’s Executive Director. “Plan for power outages and prepare your family accordingly. Make sure you monitor the weather forecast, heed all official warnings, and pay attention to state and local emergency management and transportation officials.”
As the storm moves out of the region, a mass of frigid air will be moving in and bringing dangerously cold temperatures. With peak gusts around 40 mph, the expected wind chill will also make conditions hazardous making it feel well below zero degrees Fahrenheit throughout Maryland.
Extreme cold weather can lead to serious health issues. The Maryland Department of Health’s Office of Preparedness and Response has an array of helpful information about extreme cold weather and how to protect yourself and your family here: https://preparedness.health.maryland.gov/Pages/resources_cold.aspx
MEMA advises Maryland residents to take the following actions:
  • Closely monitor updated weather forecasts and keep electronic communications devices charged.
  • Plan for power outages and prepare accordingly.
  • Know who to contact in the case of a power outage. Emergency phone numbers for utility companies can be found here.
  • Never run generators indoors, in closed areas, or near vents.
  • Check on your elderly neighbors during and after the storm.
  • If you must travel, make sure to have car chargers, kitty litter or sand for traction, blankets, extra winter clothes including hats and gloves, snacks, and water in case you become stranded.
  • Let friends or family know of your travel route and expected arrival time.
  • Be cautious shoveling snow or ice to avoid overexertion. Take frequent breaks and keep hydrated.
  • Dress in several layers when venturing outside in the extreme cold.  Frostbite and Hypothermia can set in in minutes.
MEMA is closely monitoring the storm and will continue coordinating efforts with local emergency management officials and state agencies.

Notre Dame Prof. Offers 21 Reasons Why Higher Ed Is ‘Bullsh*t’

A professor at the University of Notre Dame is argued that higher education is drowning in “bullsh!t” in a recent column for the Chronicle.

Writing for the Chronicle of Higher Education, Notre Dame Professor Christian Smith argued in a column last week that higher education has some serious issues. BS is universities hijacked by the relentless pursuit of money and prestige, including chasing rankings that they know are deeply flawed, at the expense of genuine educational excellence (to be distinguished from the vacuous “excellence” peddled by recruitment and “advancement” offices in every run-of-the-mill university),” one complaint read.

Smith bemoaned the lacked of intellectual diversity in many academic fields, specifically the humanities and social sciences. He argues that the academics in these fields are hypocrites because they fail to live up to the values of diversity and tolerance that they often preach.

“BS is the grossly lopsided political ideology of the faculty of many disciplines, especially in the humanities and social sciences, creating a homogeneity of worldview to which those faculties are themselves oblivious, despite claiming to champion difference, diversity, and tolerance,” Smith wrote.

One of Smith’s complaints has been discussed multiple times in Breitbart News’ higher education coverage. Professors, especially in the “social justice” fields,” have a habit of forcing unnecessary made-up terms to make outsiders feel confused and unwelcome.

“BS is the ideologically infused jargon deployed by various fields to stake out in-group self-importance and insulate them from accountability to those not fluent in such solipsistic language games,” Smith wrote.

Schumer-Linked Group Targets Senate Republicans Over Shutdown

A group with ties to Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) announced on Friday it would launch a $600,000 media buy targeting Republicans over the government shutdown, seeming to confirm the notion that Democrats are "playing politics" with the impasse.

Majority Forward, a 501(c)(4) "social welfare nonprofit" that isn't required to disclose its donors, will run 30-second ads on broadcast and cable television in an effort to pressure six Republican senators up for reelection in 2020 to cave and end the shutdown. The ads, which will air in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, and North Carolina, are designed to appeal to voters by incorporating specific effects of the shutdown unique to each state, as first reported by the Washington Post.

J.B. Poersch, the president of Majority Forward, claimed on Friday that his group was motivated to run the ads with no other desire but to see the shutdown end.

Cuomo: ‘Mueller Didn’t Do the Media Any Favors Tonight’

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said Special Counsel Robert Mueller "didn't do the media any favors tonight" and handed President Donald Trump a gift when his office refuted a BuzzFeed News report implicating Trump in a felony.

BuzzFeed reported Thursday that Trump had directed longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress, citing two anonymous sources in law enforcement, leading Democrats to say it would be grounds for impeachment if true. However, a spokesman for Mueller's office said in a statement the report was "not accurate."

Discussing the developments with former Obama solicitor general Neal Katyal, Cuomo sounded annoyed.

"Mueller didn’t do the media any favors tonight, and he did do the president one, because as you saw with Rudy Giuliani and as I’m sure you’ll see with the president himself, this allows them to say, ‘You can’t believe it. You can’t believe what you read, you can’t believe what you hear, you can only believe us,'" he said. "‘Even the special counsel says that the media doesn’t get it right.'"

Saints Ran Fake Punt Right At Fletcher Cox After Seeing His History Of Taking Punt Plays Off On Film

The Saints looked shook and unprepared trailing 14-0 to the Eagles in the first quarter of Sunday’s divisional round game. They might have been shook, but unprepared they were not.

New Orleans ran a risky fake punt which finally got their offense moving, leading to 20 unanswered points. Turns out, it was film study which was integral to the play’s success.

New Orleans recognized on tape that Eagles’ star defensive tackle Fletcher Cox had a tendency to take punt plays off by standing up out of his stance and not pressuring the line. The Saints recognized this, and crafted a play to bullrush Cox with lineman, who would be unlikely to be able to hold his ground standing up straight.

Border rancher ready to give up land for wall

ROMA, Texas (FOX 26) — Ruperto Escobar's land has been in his family for more than 250 years.

"This river was not always a border," said Escobar, looking over at the Rio Grande River. "It became the border between the United States and Mexico at around 1848."

The 600-acre ranch is around 55 miles northwest of McAllen and backs into the river.

Escobar said he has seen it used to smuggle everything from people to drugs to fryers.

"I'll be 75 next month, I've seen so many things, both ways," Escobar told FOX 26 News.

Once, Escobar said, his land was taken by criminals.

"There [were] two men that were heavily armed and they told my workers, 'You men need to leave. Go back to where you came from. We are confiscating this place tonight. We need it,'" recalled Escobar.

To survive, he let them go.

'They Are Starving Us to Death': Cubans Protest Food Shortages

Cubans from the eastern city of Holguín defied state security forces to protest the widespread food shortages still plaguing the communist-controlled island in a video published Wednesday.

The video showed street vendors defying police who tried to confiscate their food, mainly by throwing their products on the ground so that locals could pick it up and eat it. Their protest was consequently backed up by a number of passers-by, who went out to help street vendors and demanded authorities not confiscate what they had for sale.

“Do not take anything, they’re killing us with hunger, this is the government of Díaz-Canel,” one could be heard saying, referring to the island’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel. Díaz-Canel answers to the head of the Communist Party, Raúl Castro.

Next Gillette Should Target 'Toxic Femininity'

Recently, Gillette, the company whose razors have shaved the faces of many a male, as well as the legs of many of a male identifying as a female, officially crossed over to the lassies' side by launching a marketing ploy that portrays men as salivating troglodytes who alternate between patting women's heads and behinds.

After rendering most men as louts, the Gillette ad asks America the question: "Is this the best a man can get?"

Granted, on the surface, encouraging anyone to be a better person is a worthy endeavor. However, a problem arises concerning who it is that gets to determine what a man's "best" actually is. Furthermore, Gillette must have forgotten that setting benchmarks for how others should act undermines the foundational argument of the women they defend. After all, doesn't the right-to-choose crowd quell its guilt-ridden consciences by espousing that there is no absolute moral truth and that what's right for a person hinges solely on personal reality and conviction?

Besides, what right does the crowd that tortures unborn males have to criticize men for harassing women? In any event, if setting an example is the goal of the Gillette ad, the logical place to start might be for the razor magnate to inspire female accusers to refuse to participate in behavior far more toxic than the activities they condemn.

Yet despite the presence of those glaring inconsistencies, Gillette chose instead to glean its inspiration from the #MeToo movement, whose women pride themselves on aborting the offspring of men who have zero say as to whether or not their children get to live or die.

STUNNING LIST: 35 Times the FBI "Deviated from Standard Practice" or Committed Crimes in Effort to Exonerate Hilary and Indict Trump!

The FBI leadership under the Obama Administration took many actions that deviated from standard practice [i.e. were corrupt and criminal] in their efforts to exonerate Hillary from her crimes and then spy and frame candidate and then President Trump. Today current members of the FBI are embarrassed to even turn on their TV’s as a result.

Time magazine of all places reported recently about the many efforts the FBI took related to Hillary exoneration and then the Trump framing. These corrupt and criminal actions have taken a desperate toll on the current members of the FBI –

In normal times, the televisions are humming at the FBI’s 56 field offices nationwide, piping in the latest news as agents work their investigations. But these days, some agents say, the TVs are often off to avoid the crush of bad stories about the FBI itself. The bureau, which is used to making headlines for nabbing crooks, has been grabbing the spotlight for unwanted reasons: fired leaders, texts between lovers and, most of all, attacks by President Trump. “I don’t care what channel it’s on,” says Tom O’Connor, a veteran investigator in Washington who leads the FBI Agents Association. “All you hear is negative stuff about the FBI … It gets depressing.”

Of course the employees of the FBI are in a funk, their fearless and corrupt leaders, as well as leaders in Obama’s corrupt DOJ, went to extravagant links to exonerate the obvious criminal actions of Hillary Clinton, and then to do all they could to prevent candidate Trump from winning an election. Then once the election was won by President Trump, they went to unheard of depths of deceit and corruption to attempt to remove him from office.

Abortion Clinic Closures – Not Contraceptive Programs – Responsible for Delaware’s Abortion Decline

Last month, The New York Times published an article about Delaware’s efforts to make contraception more available to its residents. Starting in 2014, Delaware partnered with the company Upstream to offer a range of free contraceptive services to women who visit health care providers.

According to the article, long-acting reversible contraceptives, like IUDs and implants, have been popular among both patients and doctors. Indeed, data presented in the article indicates that the percentage of Delaware family planning patients who are using a long-acting reversible contraceptive has increased since 2014. The Times article is supportive of the program and even states that conservative critics should appreciate the fact that Delaware’s abortion rate dropped a year after Upstream arrived, and that the health department expects it to fall again.

However, a closer look at Delaware abortion trends raises questions about the role of this program in reducing the incidence of abortion in Delaware. Delaware’s resident abortion rate has been falling since 2009. Furthermore, recent declines in Delaware’s abortion rate have been caused by the closing of abortion facilities.

Gingrich: FBI, media give Feinstein a pass for her spy scandal, but attack Trump with no justification

Let’s look at a case study in Justice Department and news media bias: the treatment of President Trump compared with the treatment of Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California.

The media was gleeful over news – first reported in The New York Times – that a group of anti-Trump bureaucrats took it upon themselves to investigate President Trump as a traitor. The action, which came when the president fired their friend James Comey as FBI director in May 2017, has only served to clarify the establishment and media hostility toward President Trump.

With no evidence – save some absurd and unsubstantiated opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign and the Democrats – Obama-era FBI officials are reported to have decided to covertly investigate the newly elected president for what amounts to treason.

This inquisition was apparently in addition to the counterintelligence investigation over alleged (and undefined) collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia to supposedly help elect Donald Trump as president.

Consider the FBI’s multi-layered attack on Trump compared to its dramatically different treatment of Feinstein after the bureau concluded that her driver and San Francisco office staffer of 20 years had been spying for the Chinese government.

Charter Schools, Not Pay or Class Size, Are Target of L.A. Teachers’ Strike

The United Teachers Lost Angeles (UTLA) and the school board of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will resume negotiations on Thursday at noon as the ongoing teachers’ strike enters its fourth day.

Officially, the strike is about teachers’ demands for smaller class sizes, additional support staff, and a 6.5% pay raise retroactive to last year (the district is offering 6%, phased in over the next two years).

But unofficially, the strike is about the unions’ effort to stop the growth of charter schools, most of which are not unionized and which are often favored by parents in minority neighborhoods who are frustrated with failing local traditional public schools.

EdSource reports:

Central to the concerns of teachers and union leaders at Los Angeles Unified is the argument that the growth of charter schools in the city has come at the expense of dollars for district schools and the teachers working in them.

Key to the bitter dispute: Charter schools, which enroll about a fifth of students in Los Angeles Unified, have contributed to a loss of $600 million annually that otherwise would benefit students in district schools, according to union officials, largely because of fixed costs that can’t be reduced even if there are fewer students. Charter backers have pushed back on those figures.

Report: 245 Million Christians Facing ‘Extreme’ Persecution Worldwide

North Korea remains at the top of a list of 50 countries where at least 245 million Christians are facing “extreme persecution” this year, up 14 percent from 215 million at the beginning of 2018, the World Wide Watch List (WWL) released on Wednesday by Open Doors, a group that monitors the mistreatment of Christ followers, revealed.

At the Heritage Foundation, David Curry, the president and CEO of Open Doors, unveiled the 2019 WWL that ranks the top 50 “most dangerous” countries to follow Jesus, noting that women are especially targeted.

“The Open Doors World Watch List which you will see today is the most comprehensive grassroots study of what is happening around the world to restrict religious freedom, particularly for Christians,” he explained, adding “The data proves conclusively that Christian women are the most exploited group on the face of the earth.”

Curry highlighted several trends that are currently fueling the mistreatment of Christians, including the rise of authoritarianism and spread of radical Islam, particularly into sub-Saharan Africa.

“Radical Islam is the driver behind eight of the top 10 on the World Watch List this year, four of which are from Africa,” the Open Doors chief proclaimed.

“Africa is now a major epicenter of violence against Christians,” he observed.

House Majority Leader Breaks With Pelosi: 'A Wall That Protects People Is Not Immoral'

Border security is an issue where the Democratic Party is suffering from schizophrenia. They were for it before they were against it. Donald Trump winning the 2016 election caused that, despite some very prominent Democrats, like Barack Obama, supporting border barriers in times past. Now, the war cry is that “a wall is an immorality.” That is coming from Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Walls are immoral. So, what about illegal aliens who murdered American citizens? Apparently, that’s not a concern; dreams of amnesty and expanded Democratic voter rolls have clouded the liberal mind.

Yet, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer appeared to have broken ranks with Pelosi, saying that it’s not a question of morality, but rather functionality and practicality. Also, a wall isn’t immoral if it protects people. Hoyer made these remarks in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier last night (via RCP):

Self Checkout lanes don’t cost an employer $15.00 an hour, so if you’re losing your job to a Self-Checkout, thank a Democrat!

With the support of 181 co-sponsors, congressional Democrats introduced legislation Wednesday to gradually increase the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2024.

Unveiled by Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., chairman of the Committee on Education and Labor, and colleagues, the Raise the Wage Act aims to increase the paychecks of some 40 million minimum-wage workers by giving them yearly raises until they reach $15 an hour, at which point they would continue to rise with the median wage.

DA calls Pittsburgh Gun-Control Plan Illegal, City Council Moves Forward Anyway

A Pittsburgh City Council member told a local radio show on Tuesday the city would move forward with passing new gun-control legislation despite a warning from a local district attorney that it would violate state law.

"We believe we're on the right side of history," Pittsburgh City Council member Corey O'Connor told KDKA. "We're doing what's right for not only our city but we think it’s what's right across the country and nobody's going to stop us from doing that."

The City Council is currently considering legislation that would ban certain kinds of firearms like the AR-15, bump stocks, and magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds, and so-called armor-piercing bullets within city limits, as well as implement Extreme Risk Protection Orders allowing law enforcement to seize firearms from individual residents in certain circumstances. Gun-rights groups have already vowed to fight the proposed legislation in court because they believe it violates a state law forbidding localities in Pennsylvania from creating their own gun-control ordinances.

Last week, Allegheny County district attorney Stephen Zappala wrote a letter to the City Council outlining his belief the proposed ordinances would be illegal.
