Nixon Campaign Complains About 'Sexist' Low Office Temperatures in Request for Warm Debate With Cuomo

A top strategist for New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon (D.) called work offices that are overly air-conditioned "sexist" in a request for balmier room temperatures for Wednesday's primary debate between Nixon and incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D.).

After accusing the debate host, WCBS-TV, of being too acquiescent to Cuomo's demands ahead of the debate, Rebecca Katz called for the event hall at Hofstra University on Long Island to be 76 degrees, the New York Timesreported. Katz wrote an email to the station, obtained by the Times, saying that working conditions are "notoriously sexist when it comes to room temperature, so we just want to make sure we're all on the same page here."

Cuomo prefers cooler temperatures for speeches and events, the Times noted.

Ms. Katz said on Tuesday she had yet to hear back from WCBS-TV, and that 76 degrees was just an opening offer to ensure the temperatures were not uncomfortably cold. The Cuomo campaign said it was unaware of what temperature the room would be. The station declined to comment.

Back in May, Ms. Nixon challenged Mr. Cuomo to multiple debates but Mr. Cuomo has agreed to just this one encounter, with barely two weeks before the primary. "CBS was very frank with us that they really didn’t have a choice — that these were his demands and if they were not acceded to, he wouldn’t show up," Ms. Nixon said this month.

Civil Unrest Is Brewing, Trump Warns Violence Is Coming If Republicans Lose In November

Are we going to see violence in the streets of our major cities following the mid-term elections in November?

President Trump seems to believe that this is a very real possibility, and he shared his thoughts on this with a group of top evangelical leaders on Monday night.

Previously, those that have warned that a “civil war” is coming to America have been heavily criticized, but perhaps people will start taking this more seriously now that President Trump is saying it.

Of course we have already seen dozens of attacks on Trump supporters all over the nation, but the mainstream media largely ignores those because it does not fit the narratives that they are pushing. The mainstream media wants to make Trump and his supporters look as bad as possible, and so they do not like to report anything that may cause the public to view them in a positive light. But everyone can see that anger and hatred are rising to unprecedented levels in this country, and the mainstream media and key politicians on the left are adding more fuel to the fire with each passing day.

On Monday, somewhere around 100 top evangelical leaders gathered for an intimate dinner with Trump, and this dinner made headlines all over the nation

About 100 evangelical leaders were invited to dinner at the White House Monday night for what was a prayer-filled event that’s been compared to a church camp meeting and a campaign rally.

Dubbed a “state dinner” for evangelical leaders, the event was held specifically in the “honor of evangelical leadership.” The dinner was attended by dozens of evangelical pastors, evangelists and activists who’ve been involved in informally advising the administration including well-known figures like Franklin Graham, James Dobson, and Greg Laurie.

During his remarks at the dinner, Trump acknowledged that “the level of anger is unbelievable”, and he warned that there will be violence if Republicans lose in November

Pentagon criticizes EPA science proposal

The Pentagon has weighed in against a controversial Environmental Protection Agency proposal that would block the agency from using scientific studies that do not make public the raw data used in research.

"While we agree that public access to information is very important, we do not believe that failure of the agency to obtain a publication's underlying data from an author external to the agency should negate its use," Patricia Underwood, a senior Pentagon official in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment, wrote in recent formal public comments on the EPA proposal, which were first reported Tuesday by E&E News.

The deadline to receive input from the public on the proposed rule closed Aug. 16. The proposal garnered nearly a quarter of a million comments.

Ocean City Opts To Convert Street Lights To LED; Annual Savings Estimated At $296K

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City is going all in on a plan to replace street lighting with LED fixtures after resort officials reviewed some options this week.

During Tuesday’s work session, the Mayor and Council heard a presentation from City Engineer Terry McGean and Delmarva Power officials about options for replacing the street lighting in most areas of the town. The presentation included three basic options, from simply doing nothing, to allowing Delmarva Power to replace the street lights with LED fixtures piecemeal at a rate of about five percent a year, or, finally, having Delmarva Power replace all of the street lights in one major project to be accomplished over a period of a year or so.

After reviewing the costs estimates for each option, it was essentially a no-brainer to go for the third option and the council ultimately voted unanimously to upgrade all the existing lights. Currently, there are a little over 1,300 street lights in Ocean City owned and maintained by Delmarva Power that are paid for by the resort. The town pays for the power distribution and other assorted costs for operating the 1,300-plus lights to the tune of around $575,000 a year.

By way of background, the town owns, maintains and pays for many street antique-style street lights in areas such as the Boardwalk, along Baltimore and St. Louis avenues and some areas of Philadelphia Avenue in the downtown area. There are other street lights owned and paid for by the State Highway Administration (SHA), including those in the recently-replaced median section from Convention Center Drive to 62nd Street, or the section equipped with a median fence prior to the current summer season, along with the street lights on the Route 50 and Route 90 bridges.

Cardinal Blase Cupich Says Pope Francis Has a ‘Bigger Agenda’ Like Immigration and the Environment, and Should Avoid the Sexual Abuse ‘Rabbit Hole’ Sparked by Carlo ViganĂ²

Over the weekend, news broke that a former apostolic nuncio had alleged that Pope Francis knew about sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church in America and failed to act. Many are demanding Francis' resignation if the claims are true. One cardinal named in the allegations — Cardinal Blase J. Cupich — has minimized the importance of the accusation, saying Pope Francis has a "bigger agenda" and should not get distracted by this "rabbit hole."

"The pope has a bigger agenda. He’s got to get on with other things, of talking about the environment and protecting migrants and carrying on the work of the church," Cupich told NBC Chicago. "We’re not going to go down a rabbit hole on this."

The cardinal defended the pontiff, saying, "The record shows that whenever there's actionable information, Pope Francis acts."

He even went so far as to suggest that some people are calling for the pope's resignation ... because they are racist. "Quite frankly, the also don't like him because he's a Latino."

Electoral College Foes Continue Push to Make Popular Vote Winner President

Efforts to elect the president by popular vote has had mixed popularity this year, as Arizona and Maine failed to gather the required number of signatures to appear on the November ballot.

Still, after the Connecticut Legislature voted in May to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, the plan is just 98 Electoral College votes shy of becoming a reality.

Under the compact, states that join agree to award their electors to the presidential candidate who wins the nationwide popular vote, even if the candidate loses that state.

Advocates say this plan would keep the Electoral College in place, reflect the national popular vote, and not require amending the Constitution.

The compact, which has 11 blue states and the District of Columbia on board, would become effective only after gaining enough states to equal 270 votes—or a majority of the Electoral College, the same number required to elect a president.

Witness: Fusion GPS, Trump Tower Participants Met with Clinton Associate

Attorney Edward Lieberman, whose late wife Evelyn previously served as Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff when she was First Lady, was present at one and possibly two dinner meetings between the controversial Fusion GPS firm and key participants in the infamous June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, according to witness testimony reviewed by Breitbart News.

One of those meetings with Fusion GPS took place just days after the Trump Tower meeting, the testimony reveals. Also, Edward Lieberman met with one Russian participant the same day of the Trump Tower meeting, according to separate testimony.

Besides working for Hillary Clinton, Lieberman’s late wife, Evelyn, also served as Bill Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, and famously transferred Monica Lewinsky out of the White House to the Defense Department.

Jim Brown: Black community 'has a responsibility' to look inward, not blame Trump

NFL legend Jim Brown declared Tuesday that the black community “has a responsibility” to fix its own problems rather than placing the blame on President Trump.

In an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” the former Browns running back called Mr. Trump an “exceptional” president who genuinely cares about the country, but that he isn’t responsible for the black community’s troubles.

“We should look at ourselves first before we look at the president,” Mr. Brown, 82, said. “The black community … has a responsibility regardless of what the president does. And if you have a homicide rate within your black community, then it’s not the president that’s created a homicide rate, it’s the black community itself that needs to address it.

“So I don’t want to just put everything on him,” he continued. “And I’m sorry to say that the black community is not doing what we should do, and that includes myself. We have to be able to, as citizens, bring something that the president can join forces with and triple the effectiveness of it.”

Mr. Brown also gave credit to “white people” who have fought for and supported black Americans throughout history.

Soros Buys Millions in Facebook, Twitter Stocks

Liberal billionaire George Soros drastically increased his shares in a handful of tech companies after previously bashing such companies as a "menace" and while a coalition of progressive groups he financially backs pushes a campaign that includes a goal of breaking up Facebook.

States Must Stop the War on Faith-Based Adoption Agencies

Yet another adoption agency is closing its doors, at a time when thousands of young victims of the opioid crisis flood America’s foster care system.

This time, it’s Catholic Charities of Buffalo, New York. The agency can no longer cooperate with the government there because the state will not allow Catholic Charities to operate consistently with its religious mission.

Catholic Charities of Buffalo represents another example in a disturbing trend toward driving out faith-based agencies from America’s child welfare system entirely—a trend that could cause children immeasurable harm.

Catholic Charities places children in homes with both a father and a mother in accordance with Catholic teaching on marriage and the family.

Unfortunately, the state now considers that belief to be discriminatory against LGBT individuals. New York issued an ultimatum: Abandon your beliefs, or quit your ministry. Catholic Charities is unable to comply with these rules and now must shut down, leaving the state with even fewer agencies to meet the needs of kids.

The state of New York is wrong to treat Catholic Charities’ religious mission in this manner.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges that those who uphold a traditional view of marriage do so “based on decent and honorable religious or philosophical premises.”

Colorado Cake Baker Turns Tables in Anti-Religious Bias Lawsuit

Jack Phillips owns Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, and is himself a master baker. He’s in trouble with the state of Colorado for declining to create a custom cake for an event because doing so would violate his religious beliefs.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because Phillips has already taken a similar case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in his favor on June 4.

Here’s the background.

In 2012, Phillips declined the request by a same-sex couple marrying in Massachusetts that he create a custom cake for their reception in Colorado.

Open Borders Bring a Higher Risk of Disease

The Immigration and Nationality Act mandates that all immigrants and refugees undergo a medical screening examination to determine whether they have an inadmissible health condition.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has technical instructions for medical examination of prospective immigrants in their home countries before they are permitted to enter the U.S. They are screened for communicable and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, polio, measles, mumps, and HIV. They are also tested for syphilis, gonorrhea, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The CDC also has medical screening guidelines for refugees. These screenings are usually performed 30 to 90 days after refugees arrive in the United States.

But what about people who enter our country illegally? The CDC specifically cites the possibility of the cross-border movement of HIV, measles, pertussis, rubella, rabies, hepatitis A, influenza, tuberculosis, shigellosis, and syphilis.

The Daily Times Is On A Total Bullsh!t Roll This Week

The Daily Times is not a Blog. They are an alleged mainstream media source who's responsibility if to FACT CHECK information they publish. This is just another piece of evidence proving they are a Liberal Hack Fake News organization who's only goal is to bash ANYTHING/ONE Conservative, like County Executive Bob Culver. Typical Liberal hacks will claim it is the words of someone else, so they, (the Daily Times) didn't lie.

Yeah, go ahead and elect Jack Heath people. I'll have a blast for the next 4 years proving all the lies and corruption and the rest of America will continue laughing at this Good Ol' Boy Hillbilly Eastern Shore.

County Executive Replied:

In response to Zachary Wallace's letter to the editor, he apparently knows things about me that I don't know. I had never met John Hamilton until the Coastal Board of Realtors forum on June 6, 2018. I have not and will not resort to the kind of political trickery that Mr. Wallace alleges. I will run for reelection based on my record or performance and nothing else.

Mr. Wallace is an example of one of the worst things in today's politics. Making absurd accusations without a shred of factual evidence to support them.

Iran spies stationed across U.S. a result of Obama-era cash payouts

The recent arrest of two Iranian agents alleged to have been running spy operations on U.S. soil is just "the tip of the iceberg" in terms of the Islamic Republic's efforts to conduct intelligence operations in America that could result in a terrorist attack, according to a leading lawmaker and U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon about the matter.

Following the arrest of two Iranian individuals charged with spying on Jewish and Israeli facilities in the California area, Rep. Peter Roskam (R., Ill.) told the Free Beacon it is likely Iran has stationed multiple regime-tied agents in the United States to conduct intelligence operations.

While the arrest of the two Iranians was met with shock in the press, Roskam said he was not surprised by the arrests, which have unearthed concrete evidence of the Islamic Republic's efforts to foment discord across the globe, including on American soil.

"This is the tip of the iceberg," Roskam said in an interview. "This is not a surprise and this is a result of the Iran regime getting financial support from the Obama administration in the Iran deal."

Trump calls on DOJ to probe Chinese 'hacking' of Hillary's email

In a late-night tweet, President Donald Trump has called on the Department of Justice and FBI to investigate claims that the Chinese government hacked Hillary Clinton's infamous private email server.

'Hillary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China,' Trump tweeted shortly after midnight, referring to the claim made earlier Tuesday in a Daily Caller report.

'Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!' the President continued, referring to a list of his familiar grievances with DOJ.

The report claimed that a Chinese company known to conduct government espionage was able to insert code into Clinton's homebrew server, and managed to forward her emails to a third party in real time.

Scam Alert

Joe,

My wife just received an envelope in Priority 2 Day mail from Carl Caldeira in Hayward, CA, containing a check for $2,294.00, to be used as a Walmart 2 Walmart Mystry Shopper. There was a slip of paper with all kinds of instructions, first of which was to deposit the check in to her bank account, then email or call a Rick Walter so he could activate the check. There were several other instructions to be followed. I called the Delaware State Police Barracks in Georgetown, DE to report this and the Trooper that answered asked if she had lost any money. When I told him no he told to don't worry about and just teat it up and throw it in the trash. Taking this advice I ran the check and the istruction letter through my shredder, which now I wish I hadn't done. I'm sending this so other people will be aware and on the look out.

Martha McSally pulls away to take home Arizona GOP Senate nod

Rep. Martha McSally won a resounding victory in Tuesday's Arizona Senate Republican primary, defeating former state Sen. Kelli Ward and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

McSally took home the win after pulling away from Ward over the final weeks of the primary campaign. In the closing stretch, McSally bashed Ward in a TV ad for past statements on President Trump and immigration before subsequently taking aim at likely Democratic nominee Kyrsten Sinema less than a week before election day.

Ahead of Tuesday, McSally also projected her confidence by laying low on Sunday and Monday, deciding against holding campaign events as Ward barnstormed the state for the final days on a bus tour headlined by conservative commentator Tomi Lahren and Mike Cernovich, a well-known propagator of conspiracy theories. She also received a boost in the form of the final public poll by ABC 15/OH Predictive Insights that showed her leading by 20 points — up from the 8-point lead she held in July.

Logged off: meet the teens who refuse to use social media

For 17-year-old Mary Amanuel, from London, it happened in Tesco. “We were in year 7,” she remembers, “and my friend had made an Instagram account. As we were buying stuff, she was counting the amounts of likes she’d got on a post. ‘Oooh, 40 likes. 42 likes.’

I just thought: ‘This is ridiculous.’”

Isabelle, an 18-year-old student from Bedfordshire who doesn’t want to disclose her surname, turned against social media when her classmates became zombified. “Everyone switched off from conversation. It became: ‘Can I have your number to text you?’ Something got lost in terms of speaking face to face. And I thought: ‘I don’t really want to be swept up in that.’” For 15-year-old Emily Sharp, from Staines in Surrey, watching bullying online was the final straw. “It wasn’t nice. That deterred me from using it.”

It is widely believed that young people are hopelessly devoted to social media. Teenagers, according to this stereotype, tweet, gram, Snap and scroll. But for every young person hunched over a screen, there are others for whom social media no longer holds such an allure. These teens are turning their backs on the technology – and there are more of them than you might think.

Jim Jordan speaker bid excites conservatives: 'The grassroots is starving for principled leadership'

Passing legislation hasn’t been Rep. Jim Jordan’s strong suit, but that isn’t dampening the spirit of conservatives who are rallying behind his bid to become the 55th speaker of the House.

Instead, it is his ability to gum up the works, along with his near-unwavering support for President Trump, that is enchanting tea party and right-wing groups. They say they have been ill-served by a string of deal-making Republican leaders.

More than 100 conservative groups and top-level activists have announced their backing for Mr. Jordan in his bid to win the House’s top post if Republicans keep control of the House.

“He is firing the base up,” said Adam Brandon, president of FreedomWorks, which has vowed to invest a half-million dollars into Mr. Jordan’s speaker bid. “He has always voted like he campaigns, whether it has been on spending, Obamacare, his rhetoric matches up to his voting record, and few can say that.”

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries after, according to police, the vehicle likely hydroplaned in bad weather.

36 Percent of Black Americans Support Whom?

When the great Stanford economist Thomas Sowell was still writing his syndicated column, he would occasionally submit “Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene.” In one such offering on the prevalence of racism, as a black American he observed, “Racism is not dead, but it is on life support — kept alive by politicians, race hustlers and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as ‘racist.’”

That quote came to mind this week as I was surveying the passing scene and realized that this week marks the 55th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s remarkable “I Have a Dream” speech on the Washington Mall.

King declared: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ … I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. … And if America is to be a great nation this must become true.”

Surveying the rest of the passing scene, I came across a stunning presidential approval report: While an NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey found that Donald Trump’s approval numbers are holding steady after last week’s pile on, what really caught my attention was one standout in Rasmussen’s highly regarded Presidential Approval Tracking Poll. Trump’s approval rating among black Americans is now 36%, almost twice what it was a year ago.

CNN Falsely Blames Antifa Violence on Black Americans

“Antifa is widely perceived as an African-American organization, and this is just part of the same story of LeBron James and Don Lemon and Maxine Waters and the NFL players and the UCLA basketball players,” he continued.

Michael Cohen Didn’t Actually Violate Federal Campaign Laws. Here’s Why.

Hey, Michael Cohen: You actually didn’t violate that election law.

Cohen, the president’s former attorney, agreed to two counts of campaign finance law violations last week. First is that he violated the law against making corporate contributions, and second, that he knowingly violated the law against making excessive personal contributions.

He did not need to agree to either of these.

The corporate contribution charge goes like this: The National Enquirer was approached by a woman selling a story about Donald Trump. Cohen and the Enquirer discussed it, and Cohen agreed to reimburse the paper if it bought it. The paper did buy it, but Cohen didn’t.

The Justice Department, in what must be a brand new theory, says Cohen violated the law because he caused a corporation (i.e. the National Enquirer) to make an in-kind contribution to benefit the Trump campaign.

Putting aside that no campaign money actually changed hands here (and it is hard to put that aside), it is not a violation of campaign finance law to cause someone else’s corporation to spend money.

"It Was All A Set-Up" - Pentagon Whistleblower Exposes Russia Probe Reality

Adam Lovinger, a former Defense Department analyst, never expected that what he stumbled on during his final months at the Pentagon would expose an integral player in the FBI’s handling of President Donald Trump’s campaign and alleged Russia collusion.

Lovinger, a whistleblower, is now battling to save his career. The Pentagon suspended his top-secret security clearance May 1, 2017, when he exposed through an internal review that Stefan Halper, who was then an emeritus Cambridge professor, had received roughly $1 million in tax-payer funded money to write Defense Department foreign policy reports, his attorney Sean Bigley said. Before Lovinger’s clearance was suspended he had taken a detail to the National Security Council as senior director for strategy. He was only there for five months before he was recalled to the Pentagon, stripped of his prestigious White House detail, and ordered to perform bureaucratic make-work in a Pentagon annex Bigley calls “the land of misfit toys.” His security clearance was eventually revoked in March 2018, despite the Pentagon “refusing to turn over a single page of its purported evidence of Lovinger’s wrongdoing,”Bigley stated. Conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, recently filed a federal lawsuit against the Defense Department to obtain the withheld records.

Lovinger also raised concerns about Halper’s role in conducting what appeared to be diplomatic meetings with foreigners on behalf of the U.S. government because his role as contractor forbids him from doing so, according to U.S. federal law.

An investigation by SaraACarter.com reveals that the documents and information Lovinger stumbled on and other documents obtained by this news site, raise troubling questions about Halper, who was believed to have worked with the CIA and part of the matrix of players in the bureau’s ‘CrossFire Hurricane’ investigation into Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Halper, who assisted the FBI in the Russia investigation, appears to also have significant ties to the Russian government, as well as sources connected directly to President Vladimir Putin.

Halper did not respond to requests for comment.

Kavanaugh Rules by the Law, Even in Tough Cases

Article 30 of the Massachusetts Constitution, authored by John Adams and adopted in 1780, calls for a “government of laws and not of men.” The principle referred to as “the rule of law” sounds nice in the abstract and fits comfortably in easy situations, but is truly tested in the tough cases.

In the tough cases, a judge’s heart might say something different than the law requires. These cases involve difficult, compelling, or even gut-wrenching facts and put to the test whether the law or the judge must decide the cases that come to court.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has addressed this issue in the context of a Supreme Court nomination. In 2009, he served on the Judiciary Committee during the confirmation hearing for Sonia Sotomayor, who was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals. Schumer noted that, even in “hot-button cases,” she “hewed carefully to the text of statutes, even when doing so results in rulings that go against so-called sympathetic litigants.”

Sotomayor herself embraced this principle, saying: “Whether I’ve agreed with a party or not, found them sympathetic or not, in every case I have decided I have done what the law requires.” Whether a party position is “sympathetic or not,” she explained, she must reach “the result [that] is commanded by law.”

In other words, a judge must approach the tough and the easy cases the same way.

We should all be worried about Google’s power

Tuesday brought endless commentary and reporting on how President Trump was being utterly ridiculous and conspiratorial to accuse Google of bias in its search algorithms. Funny: Just over a year ago, in June 2017, the European Union fined the company $2.7 billion for … bias in its search algorithms.

Yes, Trump’s off-the-cuff charge focused on political bias, whereas the EU verdict (after a seven-year investigation) was about the company “systematically favoring” its own Google Shopping feature. But all the Trump-bashers who were suggesting Google would never, ever put its thumb on the scale seem to have ignored at least one elephant in the room.

As we write, the top headlines on Google News include two CNN stories: “Trump slams Google search as ‘rigged’ — but it’s not” and “Debunking Donald Trump’s latest conspiracy theory on Google.” How is the average web surfer to trust that Google isn’t weighting those stories?

The layman has plenty of reasons to worry about political bias to which the company could be blind: Silicon Valley is a notorious progressive place (except on issues that touch its own interests, anyway), and the internal Google discussion over “dissident” engineer James Damore showed a shocking intolerance for the merest questioning of certain left-liberal pieties.

The MSM's Revisionist Love Affair With McCain Is a Bit Much to Stomach

It is perfectly good and natural to want to speak well of the recently departed, even if said departed was one who someone didn't always speak well of when he or she was alive.

Then there's just makin' stuff up.

As I have watched the mainstream media laud Sen. John McCain since his death over the weekend I have often found myself wondering, "Are we talking about the same John McCain here?"

My PJ Media colleague Matt Margolis posted a video yesterday about how "The View" has had a seismic shift on its thoughts about Maverick. The contrast was rather sharp and was no doubt influenced by the fact that McCain's daughter Meghan is a regular on the show. It's also "The View," and if I begin holding them to any standards I won't be able to avoid cirrhosis of the liver.

I did a fair amount of volunteer work on both of McCain's presidential campaigns and I know that the tendencies that earned him the nickname "Maverick" were enough to keep the MSM from savaging him all the time like they would other Republicans. But I don't remember them swooning the way they have been the past few days.

96 Percent of Google Search Results for 'Trump' News Are from Liberal Media Outlets

Is Google manipulating its algorithm to prioritize left-leaning news outlets in their coverage of President Trump? It sure looks that way based on recent search results for news on the president.

Conservatives and Trump supporters have for the last several years questioned whether Google was deprioritizing conservative news sites, hiding them from users who utilize their search engine. Google has maintained that all outlets are treated fairly, but nevertheless, conservative sites have reported reduced search traffic and, in the case of Google-owned YouTube, content creators have been banned and demonetized. Google's high-profile firing of conservative James Damore, purportedly over his conservative political views, only reinforces the idea that Google is picking winners and losers.

Larry Hogan Hits Ben Jealous for Taking Campaign Cash from Payday Lender

The reelection campaign for Maryland governor Larry Hogan (R.) is calling on his Democratic opponent Ben Jealous to return money he received from executives of LendUp, a payday loan company Jealous invests in that has been fined millions for predatory lending practices.

Jealous's investment in LendUp was revealed on Thursday morning by the Baltimore Sun, which reports that the company has been the recipient of fines totaling $3 million by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and California's Department of Business Oversight. Jealous, who was a critic of payday loan companies during his days as head of the NAACP, referred questions on the fines to the company.

The Hogan campaign responded to the report by pointing to contributions from LendUp executives—$2,500 from company founder and CEO Sasha Orloff and an additional $2,012 from vice president of policy Jotaka Eaddy—and demanding they be returned.

"We are calling on Jealous to return the thousands of dollars he's received from the executives of this seedy company," said Scott Sloofman, the campaign's communications director.

The company was caught charging illegal fees, calculating false interest rates, and failing to report required information to regulators, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported that the company's loan rates regularly exceeded 600 percent.

New Poll Shows Majority of Americans Don't Want Impeachment for Trump

Axios and Survey Monkey conducted the online poll, which surveyed 4,362 adults and demonstrates some interesting findings. A total of 64 percent of those surveyed believe that Cohen is telling the truth, but only 44 percent support impeachment proceedings against the president.

It's worth noting that President Richard Nixon didn't face this high of a percentage of Americans in favor of impeachment until the weeks before he resigned.

Breaking the findings down into subgroups reveals interesting partisan fault lines. An overwhelming majority of Democrats — 93 percent — put stock in Cohen's accusations, and nearly eight in ten are in favor of impeachment. It's a different story for Republicans, where only 8 percent support impeachment, while 38 percent believe Cohen. The percentages of independents nearly match the average.

Maryland Fishing Report

Labor Day weekend approaches and many of us are wondering, “How did we get here so soon?” The kids will be going back to school and we will slowly start to see cooler temperatures in September.

Chesapeake Bay anglers should continue to seek the best combination of clear, cool, oxygenated waters. This means fishing deeper during the day or early in the morning during moving water in the shallows when surface water temperatures can be about 3 degrees cooler.

Thank God Its Friday 8-31-18

What will you be doing this weekend?

NBC tried to halt Ronan Farrow's reporting on Harvey Weinstein last year, an ex-producer said. The network said his work was not broadcast-ready.

In October, when Ronan Farrow published his first article in The New Yorker on the alleged transgressions of Harvey Weinstein, people in the media and entertainment industries wondered how NBC had missed the story. After all, Mr. Farrow had spent months gathering material on the mogul when he was with NBC News.

Now a producer who worked closely with Mr. Farrow has accused the network of putting a stop to the reporting, saying the order came from “the very highest levels of NBC.”

7 Ways Life Is Better Now Than It Was 40 Years Ago

In my last article about how life was so much better 40 years ago, I promised I would even things out and talk about how things have actually improved in past few decades since I was a kid. (I don't want anyone thinking I'm a crotchety old guy.)

So here goes — seven things that make life better now than "back in the good old days:"

1. Healthier choices in food.

Health food has become mainstream. You don't have to go to some out of the way "health food shop" run by "hippies" to get what you need. All the main grocery chains now have entire sections dedicated just to non-GMO, organic food. "Free-range" is now part of our vocabulary. There are entire grocery chains that are dedicated only to offering food that is not loaded up with pesticides and hormones.

Even some restaurant chains (like Panera and Chipotle) make the effort to serve food that is entirely free of preservatives and other harmful additives. Businesses are doing this to respond to popular demand. More and more Americans desire natural foods that are a major part of the answer to the diseases they are constantly fighting.

'Section 8 Need Not Apply': States and Cities Outlaw Housing Discrimination Based on Income Source

Landlords often reject applicants who use public assistance to help pay their rent.

Washington state is the latest jurisdiction to pass a law to protect low-income renters from housing discrimination.

House Bill 2578, which will go into effect at the end of September, makes it illegal for landlords to reject applicants based on their use of public assistance, including Section 8, Social Security or veterans benefits.

"We have a housing crisis in Washington. In Seattle, the market is so tight that I would hear about tenants getting [evicted] just because they were using public assistance. There were some property owners that weren’t even accepting veterans," says Democratic state Rep. Marcus Riccelli, who introduced the legislation.

Another Election Law Struck Down in North Carolina

For the second time this month, a new state law targeting individual candidates running for office this November has been found unconstitutional.

The state's newly formed Constitution Party and three of its candidates won a victory in federal court Wednesday morning, when a judge ruled that they must be on the ballot this fall despite a law that the state legislature passed earlier this summer taking their names off the ballot.

That follows a victory in state court for Chris Anglin, a state Supreme Court candidate whose campaign had been targeted by a different law seeking to stop him from having his Republican Party affiliation listed on the ballot. Anglin switched parties before running, and Republican officials say he is a Democratic plant, although he insists he's a legitimate conservative.

Republican legislative leaders Sen. Phil Berger and Rep. Tim Moore are appealing their loss in that case, arguing the law they passed affecting Anglin -- and at least one other candidate, for a lower-level judicial seat -- was constitutional.

AN ORGANIZATION BEHIND MASSIVE ‘SUPER EID’ MUSLIM CELEBRATION AT MINNESOTA VIKINGS STADIUM LABELED A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

An organization linked to a designated terrorist group participated at the “Super Eid” event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Tuesday and Wednesday to celebrate the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha.

Members from the group called the Muslim American Society participated in the massive two-day event, which included an estimated 15,000 to 30,000 participants. Imam Asad Zamam, executive director of the Muslim American Society in Minnesota, was a featured speaker at the event, according to the event’s website.

Thousands of Muslim participants at the event in the Minnesota Vikings stadium chanted “Allahu akbar” while praying, WND reported. The phrase loosely translates into “God is the greatest,” however, it is also frequently used in acts of radical Islamic terrorism.

‘Compromised’ Author Details Comey-Mueller Relationship that Earned Comey $36 Million in One Year

During Thursday’s “Hannity” on Fox News Channel the author of the Government Accountability Institute’s “Compromised: How Money and Politics Drive FBI Corruption” discussed his new book that details how former FBI Director James Comey and special counsel Robert Mueller both “made millions” by selling out insider expertise to the highest bidder.

In the Fox News appearance, Seamus Bruner describes how Comey worked at Lockheed Martin by 2009 was given “at least 160,000 stocks and stock options,” which he said was worth “upwards of $30 million” on top of making $6 million in one year.

Bruner added that due to his relationship with Mueller and the high amount of value for the government contracts with Lockheed Martin, it “strains credulity” to think Mueller did not sign off on the contracts.

Alan Dershowitz: Cohen 'Pleading Guilty to a Crime that Doesn't Exist'

Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney, is “pleading guilty to a crime that doesn’t exist” to further Democrats’ plans to impeach the president. He offered his analysis during a Wednesday interview with Breitbart Senior Editors-at-Large Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight.

“I don’t think there’s an impeachable offense,” said Dershowitz. “I believe you need to have a specific crime — treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors — and none of the things that [Michael] Cohen pleaded guilty to would rise to that level or even come close to it. What Cohen pleaded guilty to may not even be a crime, the part about the election campaign laws.”

Seamus Bruner: Comey-Mueller ‘Cash in' with Swamp's 'Revolving Door'

Seamus Bruner, Government Accountability Institute (GAI) researcher and author of Compromised: How Money and Politics Drive FBI Corruption, explained how former FBI Directors James Comey and Robert Mueller leveraged their government positions to enrich themselves. He joined Peter Schweizer, GAI president and Breitbart News senior editor-at-large, for a Wednesday interview with Sean Hannity.

“This is a familiar story [about] the revolving door; turning public service into self service,” said Bruner. “We followed the money. We followed it to the top, and we found that these choir boys or boy scouts — as the media likes to depict them — James Comey and Robert Mueller, they’re really no better than anyone else in the swamp. They use their public service [and] their contacts and they cash in through the revolving door.”

Bruner described Lockheed Martin’s — the country’s largest national defense and security contractor — hiring of James Comey in 2005 to the dual position of general counsel and senior vice president as unusual. Comey was 44 at the time and without requisite corporate experience.

Montana is facing a suicide crisis - and budget cuts are making the mental health crisis even worse

Montana has the highest suicide rate in the U.S. - and extremely limited resources to take on the problem.

With nearly 26 suicides for every 100,000 residents, Montana's suicide rate has increased 38 percent since 1999 - and far surpasses the national average of 13.5, NBC News reported.

Residents of the rural state who struggle with mental health have the odds stacked against them. Montana has less than 25 percent of the mental health providers necessary to care for the more than 1 million people who call the state home, according to the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Many residents have guns - and outdated stigmas about mental health. Alcohol consumption is high and winter daytime hours are short.

"This Has To Stop": Czech PM Calls For No Illegal Immigrants In Europe

Echoing Italy's Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and Hungary's PM Viktor Orban - and to a large extent president Trump - billionaire Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said on Monday that a comprehensive action plan is necessary to stop illegal migration, which he will address on a visit to Italy and Malta this week.

"If Italy and Malta won't welcome (the migrants), then Spain will. And so we're sending the message to migrants that it's possible to come to Europe, from Morocco via Spain," Babis wrote in an opinion piece in the Czech broadsheet daily DNES.

"This has to stop. Otherwise we'll never stop the migrant influx," added the businessman and head of the populist ANO movement. "I plan to discuss this with EU leaders and take part in implementing a comprehensive action plan."

Child of the State, Man of War

And now, John Sidney McCain, III is a corpse in a morgue awaiting his state burial. It is as it should be, perhaps for the first time in his entire life.

McCain – the holy terror of teenager and Naval Academy cadet, mad pilot and poster child for the horrors of the towering enemy we faced for our very survival as a Republic in Vietnam, and political animal for much of his life – clearly was not at home in this world.

In a world filled with people who are all pretty much accountable on a daily basis for their decisions, choices, actions, and for the pain they have and are causing, John McCain was missing from his post.

Instead, as a son of a successful Naval commander, he path was not entirely his own, and yet he did, repeatedly, choose that path. His biggest tragedy may have been that he was the namesake of a distinguished military family. Certainly the life of his younger brother Joe Pinckney McCain is a testament to how being born into service of the state doesn’t have to result in the deaths of so many for so long.

Freedom in the 50 States 2017-2018: Maryland Overall Freedom

The overall freedom ranking is a combination of personal and economic freedoms.

Maryland is one of the least free states in the country, and it has had this status since the beginning of our time series in 2000. It performs especially poorly on regulatory policy and has also slipped considerably on fiscal policy since 2000. It does enjoy locational rents from its proximity to Washington, D.C. One bright spot for the state is that its personal freedom rank has gradually increased over time from its cellar-dwelling score in 2000.

Maryland’s overall tax burden is below average, contributing to the state’s fiscal policy slide. Local taxes are much higher than average at 4.7 percent of adjusted personal income, while state taxes are a bit above at 5.9 percent. This would make for a favorable degree of fiscal decentralization if state taxes weren’t also high. However, Marylanders do not have much choice in local government, with only one competing jurisdiction per 200 square miles. It is less indebted than other states and also features lower government employment at 11.1 percent of private employment.

Maryland is the second worst state on the most important component of regulatory policy, land-use freedom. Zoning restrictions are extensive, eminent domain abuse is mostly unchecked, and there is some local rent control. Its renewable portfolio standard has become consistently worse. At least it doesn’t mandate free speech on private property. The state enacted a new minimum wage in 2013 and the figure has risen each year since then (it is $10.10 per hour as of the summer of 2018). Maryland has no right-to-work law. Occupational freedom is extremely low. By one measure (index of statutory mentions of regulatory keywords), Maryland has one of the highest figures for licensed occupations in the country and is one of the most cronyist states. However, nurse practitioners were freed for independent practice in 2015. Cable and telecommunications have not been deregulated. It has a hospital certificate-of-need law but no such law for movers. Maryland has both general and gasoline-focused laws against sales below cost. Its tort system is only about average.

Witness: Fusion GPS, Trump Tower Participants Met with Clinton Associate Ed Lieberman

America's Crisis: Starving Obese People

While Americans’ waistlines continue to expand, those who are gaining the most weight are also starving. They aren’t starving of calories, but of vital nutrients that help keep the body working in tip-top condition.

Everyone knows that vegetables are packed full of nutrients and vitamins that are good for the body, yet most Americans don’t meet their daily dose of vegetables in a week. Only 14% of adults even consume three servings of veggies per day, but the news is worse. Adolescents eat even fewer vegetables than their adult counterparts. So as Americans get bigger and consume more calories, they are wholly malnourished at the same time.

According to a well-worded article by Personal Liberty, all foods have calories, but only a very small amount of foods have nutrition. Unfortunately, this ignorance is capitalized upon by commercial “food” processors who produce millions of tons of empty foods that have calories without any actual nutrition.

Laura Ingraham Urges Catholics To Call For Pope’s Resignation

"Archbishop Vigano has done right by the Catholic flock"

The dam has officially broken for Pope Francis, with Catholics from varying corners now openly calling for his resignation after Archbishop Vigano's explosive letter accusing the Roman Pontiff of participating in the coverup of sexual abuse.

In an 11-page letter published this past Sunday, the former ambassador from the Vatican to the United States said that disgraced D.C. Cardinal McCarrick had sanctions imposed upon him by Pope Benedict in 2009 for sexually abusing seminarians only to have those sanctions lifted by Pope Francis himself upon his ascendancy in 2013. In no uncertain terms, the Archbishop concluded his letter with a call for Pope Francis' resignation, which has prompted many notable Catholics to follow his lead.

Joe Biden's got some dirty laundry stinking up his presidential ambitions

For Democrats, Joe Biden is the top seed in the race to unseat President Trump in 2020.

He's come a long way from his nutty-uncle gaffe-a-thon persona, and with a slew of medals and honors from President Obama, he presents the very picture of the respectable modern statesman. He showed up at a lot of foreign funerals for heads of state. He milked the sympathy factor over his son's death from cancer. He wore a suit. He projected gravitas. Yet he also manages to have a hard-hat appeal and a mainstream-Democratic-ideological image, which seems to be the right formula for Democrats winning in most of their races these days.

No surprise, he's the Democratic frontrunner in polls among Democrats with a seven-point lead, campaigning even now with fire to burn, because he's convinced he made a mistake in not running back in 2016.

Except there's some dirty laundry now that's getting some airing.

Biden, it turns out, is loaded with dirty deals spread out the "legal" way, among his family members, which has made his tribe immensely rich. What's more, he's doing it the swamp way, which keeps the long arm of the law out of the picture, based on deftly navigating the political loopholes, and a sharkily deft capacity to use advantages. According to the indefatigable investigative reporter Peter Schweizer, who's written a book about this:

MLK’s ‘Dream’ Speech Is Coming True, His Niece Says

Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece says her uncle’s vision in his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech is being brought to fruition today.

“Are we living in a perfect society today? No, but the dream is being realized 55 years later,” pro-life activist Alveda King told The Daily Signal in an interview Monday ahead of the 55th anniversary Tuesday of King’s famous speech.

King, who directs the Civil Rights for the Unborn program for the organization Priests for Life, said of her uncle’s oratory:

He said ‘Let freedom ring’ and he named all of the different places, including the hamlets, the townships, and he says ‘from the hilltops’ [and] I think of Stone Mountain … in Georgia.

This year, 55 years later, I was at Stone Mountain for a OneRace rally that was led by millennials, and so prophetically, many of the things that Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed 55 years ago are being revisited today.

MLK delivered the speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, about five years before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. It was prophetic, Alveda King said, because her uncle’s vision for a more unified and equal America has been coming true.

Buchanan Asks "Are The Interventionists Now Leaderless?"

“McCain’s Death Leaves Void” ran The Wall Street Journal headline over a front-page story that began:

“The death of John McCain will leave Congress without perhaps its loudest voice in support of the robust internationalism that has defined the country’s security relations since World War II.”

Certainly, the passing of the senator whose life story will dominate the news until he is buried at his alma mater, the Naval Academy, on Sunday, leaves America’s interventionists without their greatest champion.

No one around has the prestige or media following of McCain.
