  6. Going to Annapolis for grocery shopping. Selection in Salisbury and the Shore sucks!!!! Grateful to have Acme, but with just Acme and Food Lion, it is just not much of a choice. Will only shop at Walmart as a last resort!!!
Annapolis has whole foods and Trader Joes. Prices are even more reasonable. I bring some empty coolers and I am set to go!

  7. 9:57. I do the exact same thing coming from west ocean city. The Food Lion and Walmart here are awful. Another tip....when you are heading home the Safeway in Stevensville (you can see it from Route 50 right next to Chik fil A) is really nice. It is a little pricey but I shop the weekly ad and stock up on the sale items.

  9. Steamed crabs and ice cold beer.....getting Harley ready for bike week!!! SHARE THE ROAD MY FRIENDS!! IT'S ONLY 4 DAYS....

  10. 9:57 I have often wondered about that. When you factor in the cost of gas and the bridge toll, a trip like that is probably not more economical but I agree it would give you a much better choice. How much would you estimate the travel expenses are?

  11. 9:57 do you go to the Amish market too?

  12. It must be nice to be able to travel that far just to grocery shop. Some folks don't have reliable transportation or the money to do that.

  13. 11:20 I do this once a month. It's worth it!!! Better choice and selection and prices are cheaper because they don't have to truck things over the bridge. People go to Baltimore and Annapolis for this very reason to buy a new car or truck because you are not paying for the freight charge to bring it over to the shore. I can fill up two shopping carts of food from Trader Joes for less than 250. With a family of four and two sons, it is a savings! Real easy to get to. Cross the bay bridge, and Severn River, then look for Jennifer Road and you are there!! Whole foods is also near by on Richie Highway. Definitely worth the trip!!!

  15. Wow I'm worried the "just trying to survive" commenter didn't this week...

I like the Walmart in Berlin. It is much better than the one in Salisbury or Fruitland. Also since you are in OC the Food lion in Millsboro is changing to a Weis. You also have Giant and Harris Teeter in Long Neck that is only a few miles from Millsboro.

The nearest Trader Joe's is in either Annapolis, or Wilmington. The one in Wilmington is also very nice!

  19. I miss the days when in Salisbury when you had Acme, Giant, Safeway, Pantry Pride, and A&P which became Superfresh back in the Seventies and eighties. Now we have lost Giant that has been here since the Sixties, and the only choices are Acme and Food Lion! Glad to see Acme back again. Always seemed to have the best meats. I was going to Easton to shop there. Salisbury needs more options and choices. I guess when the jobs and manufacturing left, so did the good grocery stores. I will have to check out Harris Teeter. Here they also opened one in Easton.

  22. Wow. Some people are just lucky to be able buy some groceries and you prima donnas got to drive hours to shop a a special store. Rich white people problems!

  23. JUST trying to survive..... Still working..

  24. 4:54 no, that's not the reason. We don't get food stamps like you do or vouchers for free crap all over town. We want the best quality for what we pay for and not second class groceries saved for people like you.

  25. Ah!, Thanks, JUST! Hang in there!

  26. 7:01 wanna compare tax returns? I pay more in taxes than you probably make in a year. You sound pretty ignorant with your you people on food stamps rhetoric.

  27. Getting drunk and not working. My one weekend off a month spent recovering from night shift.

  28. I totally agree with 7:01. I work hard for what I earn, and I want good quality and non gmo foods.
That's why I make my trips at least once a month to Annapolis to either Trader Joe's or Whole Foods to get better quality and better choice. And I do see others like me who feel the same.
It's not racial. I see all races shop at these stores. Only difference is they are also hard working just like me and want better for their families.
It's not at white problem you ignorant Moran!!! Annapolis is a refreshing change from the shore. There appears to be no recession there. There is choice in abundance, and really great places to shop.
Leave the shore sometime and look around you. This area may be dead, but the rest of Maryland isn't! You can go ahead and settle of less choice, but I for one will not!
I love my home. Born and raised here 4th generation. Years ago we were forward thinking. I'm afraid the leadership and our chamber of commerce are not!
