Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan rejects pressure to welcome Syrian refugees

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is standing firm in his opposition to resettling Syrian refugees in the state, despite assurances from top U.S. officials and growing criticism from advocates who say his stance does not reflect American values.

Abo Omar, 27, and Yahya Sharaeebi, 47, Syrian refugees who live in Baltimore, joined dozens of demonstrators Monday in Annapolis to urge Hogan (R) to change his position.

Omar, who resettled just four days ago, invited the governor to meet with his family to see a “true picture of the Syrian people as peaceful.”

Hours later, Christian and Jewish faith leaders delivered a petition to the governor’s State House office calling on him to welcome refugees. They said they had gathered signatures from about 100 other faith leaders in the state.

  3. Several nations need to get together and seize a large portion of Syria and secure with ground and air cover it for the refugees.
House and feed them in Syria and train the military age Syrian men to fight as an army for their own country.

  7. Not allowing Syrian refugees should not be contentious because its about safety.
This proves the current administration and the Democratic Party does not care about American citizens.

There is no such thing as a liberal/democrat faith leaders. They are fakes and that is why God is reigning fire and brimstone down in the inner cities, democrat/liberal strongholds. Each bullet sent by Him and each murder sanctioned by Him to punish all the fake Christians. They are using the pulpit as a political platform and God is very angry with them and those who follow these fake faith leaders.

  11. They can open their churches for the refugees then. The church is a tax free business, fill them to the walls with these people.

  15. Way to go Governor Hogan, stand strong. We, the voters support you and will back you up! The president doesn't care about our lives and our protection, so I am very grateful and thankful to you that you care about our safety and protection and will keep all refugees out of Maryland. As we all know, this particular administration and government in general can not be trusted with regard to any thing regarding our safety. Obama is out to establish and be in control of a new world order and he is willing to let Americans die so he can be in control. He wants the refugees flooding America so they will over run the citizens and this nation will fall to muslims. We cannot let that ever happen.
