AP Photo: Checkpoint Cops Point Guns At Americans’ Heads

After a gang member shot and injured several law enforcement officials before going into hiding in a Sacramento suburb on Friday, police responded by setting up a checkpoint and aiming guns at innocent people’s heads, an AP photo shows.

The photo, (credited to AP Photo/The Sacramento Bee, Randall Benton) is captioned, “A California Highway Patrol officer and another emergency responder stop a vehicle at a checkpoint near the neighborhood where a federal immigration officer was shot and three local police officers were wounded during a violent confrontation with a suspect in the Sacramento suburb of Roseville on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.”

After an hours-long standoff, the suspect, 32-year-old gang member Samuel Nathan Duran, eventually surrendered after leaving a nearby house in which he had been holed up.

  2. Samuel Nathan Duran= dark skinned, shaved head, tattood neck and arms.
Clearly the fair skinned tattooless man pictured does not match the description.
WHY IS HIS LIFE BEING THREATENED BY POLICE HOLDING A GUN TOO HIS HEAD?

    1. 8:42. It's the same as when victims are filing out of a building in which a suspected gunman is in. You don't know if there are accomplices whether voluntary or not.

  3. 8:42 It's commiefornia... where they shoot up 2 asian women while looking for a 6'+ 240+ lb african american. Let's not offend anybody by looking for matching descriptions! "Murica

  4. This photo graphically shows what's wrong with the imbalance between militarized police forces in their interaction with unarmed and innocent citizens/civilians.

We want and need properly trained and equipped police to pursue criminals. But a rifle to the head of an innocent driver is so far over the threshold!

The officer has a sidearm which would likely be more effective at close range, and which could be unholstered, or even in his hand, in a fashion that protected the motorist from an accidental discharge while still permitting the officer a fast reaction to an actual threat.

The officer is paid to accept some danger inherent in the job. The civilian/citizen/motorist isn't.

    This officer should be disciplined.

    1. And 9:51 wins the award for for knowing nothing of which they speak. There are many reasons why the choice of weapon was used and the manner in which it was used. Check into police tactics or take the time to speak to people who do this for a living.

  7. People probably understand that guns are necessary and the police ARE looking for someone who shot someone else. But POINTING that weapon at someone's head? Too over the top. That's how people get "accidently" shot. Point that gun at MY head and I'm probably going to jail for what I say to that dumb ass cop.

    3. So, what 11:05 suggests is to create more of a problem by hiring a gang to commit a crime or two? Thank God he or she is not on the problem solving committee.

  9. The rules of engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq don't allow for guns pointed at people's head like this, unless they are actively firing at the soldier. That's why this is so messed up....we the US citizen are considered a bigger threat to the government than the citizens of openly occupied countries.

    FIGURE IT OUT PEOPLE.

  10. Someone said it is police tactics that we should read on how they operate. Guess what we have is called Gestapo tactics used by the Nazis in World War 2. If they are looking for a Hispanic male with tattoos all over his neck no way shape or form they have a gun pointed to a white male who was alone in his vehicle. That is where a talking or an investigation of words should come into play before a threat of violence. Its like ok all police officers be aware we're looking for an orange next thing you know your point guns and apples

  12. But you're new yorican 1:12 (yes, I can hear your accent in your post). I don't think the Mexicans would do your bidding for you much less care that you are trying to implicate them in this matter. Now don't be late with the mail.

  13. yeah a 14 yo with a bb gun! real threat. someday all you fool cops that want to be Rambo are gonna run up against your worst nightmare. I always taught my children to be nice to everyone. guess that would be to much to ask of you jack booted thugs!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well 8:48, if as you say, you taught them well and if in fact they listened and comprehended, there should be no problem. Good job!

    ReplyDelete
  15. 9:25....if everyone would just "comply", huh? Listen and comprehend. It was a child. They ALWAYS listen and comprehend, right? 13 year old kid. I doubt he "pointed the weapon" (a weapon?!) at them. He probably just turned around to see what the commotion was....after all, in his mind, he was just walking down the street, like he has probably done many times in his neighboorhood. What happened was a tragedy. But for you to say "good job!" about the killing of a child carrying a BB gun says VOLUMES about the current mindset of our SS troops. Good job!? Are you that callous, that stupid, and that full of your power and authority? GOOD JOB???? You're sickening.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Good job 8:57. Without dissenters like you there would be no need for the police. Jobs are pretty scarce these days. Thank you. And again GOOD JOB.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So, the police need to control "dissenters"? Really?? Not gang bangers, thugs, and criminals? Dissenters are so numerous that they give all the cops jobs? If there are that many dissenters, then maybe you should ask WHY? LOL. Not only did you make my point about you being stupid and callous, you reinforced it by repeating your mindless mantra "good job" and making the statement you made.... They killed someone's child. I suppose you think that the cop who opened up on the thug holding a college student (and shot her in the head) did a "good job", too? Your logic and reasoning is so poor. So very poor. Finally, like every cop has already probably done, you should know that I have NO criminal record. No points on my license. NO civil record. Cops don't need, or have to, watch or control me or my dissent. You, as a cop, should be trained to handle "dissent". Without killing, beating, and assaulting those who think your power trip with a badge is a little too Nazi-like. But I don't think you get that training anymore. Maybe if you got some shoe inserts to make you taller you wouldn't feel so...uh....um.....short and inadequate.

    ReplyDelete
  18. yeah 9:25 I taught them real well. I taught them about the constitution with special emphasis on the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th amendments. They are all college educated hard working adults and they all own assault weapons with thousands of rounds and know their rights. so next time you pull one of them over you might want to be a little more polite! ahole!

fact is they don't want intelligent people to be cops, heavens forbid you would stop and think, they want morons who follow orders! It's a well known fact and was even proven in a court case involving the Mass state police!
How the hell else do you convince any able minded person to walk out in front of a ton of cars on rt 50 doing 65mph? only an idiot would do that. My mom taught me better!

  20. No 5:03, they might want to be careful! If they don't have a legitimate reason for the weapons in their vehicle under the parameters of the LAW, all of your wonderful training from the potty on up will have been for nil.

  22. I have seen 905's other posts. I can't take him seriously. He contradicts himself quite often. He is somewhat of a hypocrite. If it wasn't for the fact that he or she supposedly sign their name I wouldn't pick up on it.

  24. 1042 the person you speak of knows exactly what they are doing. Been following post for a while now. They could care less of the issues. They just like the attention and reactions from others. There are many psychological reasons for that type of behavior but too much to go into on this post. Just keep observing this person and you will see. I pray for them that they someday will find peace with themselves.

You probably cannot comprehend what he says and you merely THINK he contradicts himself.

He is quite consistent and actually can THINK before he speaks, and not just repeat some garbage like a lot of people do on here, yourself included.

I have yet to see anyone prove him wrong with any facts contrary to what he says. FACTS, not opinions. Which is what you have only provided, much like everyone else who can't think for themselves.

I don't always agree with him, and I even dogged him once when he used a word I didn't like, but, I would much rather read what he has to say than any of the drivel you and others let drip off your lips.

Big brother is watching ALL of us, genius.

And just the fact that you say such a thing about someone, identifies yourself as a government sympathizer and an ENEMY of freedom, and those of us who love freedom, defend freedom, and destroy enemies of freedom.

I thank you for identifying yourself. It makes the job of avoiding and destroying creeps like you all the easier.
