Obama’s Lifeline to the Boston Bomber

The Obama administration is reportedly negotiating a plea bargain that would spare the life of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and that could allow the FBI to continue interrogating the suspect about other terrorist plots.

NBC News reports that federal prosecutors and Tsarnaev’s lawyers “have begun very early discussions about a possible deal in which he could avoid the death penalty in return for a full accounting to the FBI of what happened and why as investigators continue working to find those answers for themselves.”

Talk of a legal settlement that would allow Tsarnaev to escape execution comes after high-powered attorney Judy Clarke, a death-penalty specialist from San Diego, was added to Tsarnaev’s legal defense team earlier this week. U.S. Magistrate Judge Marianne Bowler approved Clarke’s appointment Monday.

  8. 7:26, how valuable can his info be after the first several years behind bars. he probably doesn't know that much beyond his own plan anyways.

  9. 7:48, the value comes now. After that dude is left to rot. If I were him I think I would take the death penalty instead of spending a life of 23 hour lock down.

  10. Obama, in my opinion, and his administration have no place in this. This is a matter for Boston and the state of Mass. to take care of with their local FBI. As mentioned earlier if obammy gets involved in this the terrorist will be released to do damage in another US city. I personally believe a pressure cooker should be filled with the same items that were used in Boston and place this idiot in its path; the good old eye for an eye theory.

  11. Doubt if the little pri-k knows anything. Just another idiot trying to get his 15 minutes. Should have been executed a week ago and sent to his 100 (or whatever) virgins.

  13. 7:26 Valuable intelligence? From him? Really? Don't we pay, oh millions of agents to investigate? This kids doesn't know crap about other cells, he will give them enough to get off with life, then live on $40,000 tax payer monies per year. He will be isolated, so no other inmate can touch him. Not a bad gig.

If it were a bad gig, criminals might be deterred from doing dumb $hit.

  14. What a great comfort to the families of those killed and to the ones who lost legs and feet. His choice should actually be how he wishes to die -- quickly or slowly, as in the electric chair or piece by piece amputation of body parts over a period of a few days. Then laughingly revoke the electric chair choice. With drones, satellite surveillance, pervasive cell phone and computer monitoring, facial recognition public photo surveillance and storage, random stopping and searching of INNOCENT citizens, roaming unmarked trucks doing backscatter X-rays of American homes, and house to house assaults by armies of storm troopers, do we REALLY need HIM to tell us anything? If so, we might want to reconsider the Gestapo state we have so willingly created....you, know, for our "protection". And "safety". The only thing we are missing now is nightime rallies attended by millions of cheering throngs holding torches and rampaging against the latest "boogeyman" and enemies of "freedom". Orwell would be proud and Jefferson would be consumed by fatal vomiting. Cheer on...

  15. At last this article shows a current picture of the "suspect" instead of digging up an innocent- looking picture of a 10 year old...
