  3. Dear Jared ,
We spend money on what we need , education not one of them , the teachers have gone political and they hate Trump . By the way , what did this vehicle cost us ? My guess is nothing . Sounds to me like you are very left winged , having said that , I expect nothing less from people like you . Education , my goodness sake , think of something better.

    2. Ditto 9:54....very good response. As for as education, money has been the remedy since the sixties but not the solution. I have read negative comments on here reference the military unit(s) that Wicomico County was fortunate to acquire. If it has been mentioned I missed it. In my humble opinion, I’d rather this particular piece be here than left behind in a location the enemy could and would use against our military at some point. The USA has left “surplus “ behind before because it could be easier for different reasons.

  5. Mike is probably using vehicles donated by our military. If this is what stops bad protesters/etc leave him alone and let him do his job!

  6. Hey "sloblin" Obama was responsible for enabling local law enforcement to obtain military style vehicles for the very reason punks like you that don't know how to protest orderly. Second I believe they were surplus and allocated to law enforcement that chose to obtain them. And thirdly, and this is the kicker wicomico county already has in excess of 200 million dollar budget and nothing has changed but your county schools have gotten worse. Why don't you get some facts together before continually jumping on the national trending bandwagon. Your Jared are nothing but a little scared ass Jake day groupie PUNK!!

  7. Excluding maintenance, the MRAP was free. Now I don't think they should have an MRAP because the cost of maintenance is ridiculous, especially on something that just sits around doing nothing 99% of the time.

    1. Yeah same with the fire boat. It wasn't free. You paid for it with federal taxes instead of local.

    2. Ridiculous maintenance cost, no not really

  8. The rioting scum are getting an education - nobody is gonna stop them no matter how much fire power the cops have.

We see what is going on around us and understand that there will never be enough officers to protect every person 24/7. So please start speaking up with your fellow officers to ease the requirements of Md. C.C.L.. I am pretty sure you will see this. Please tell us where you stand.

    1. 10:07 spot on. Deputies have a large area to cover and are 15 to 25 minutes away depending on how the patrol or calls come in. MSP is the same in the county.

      Delete
    2. Not so. Deputies respond much faster and average responses are 5 mins. MSP....order a pizza. See what gets there first.

  10. If anyone watched the riots, particularly the ones where rioters attacked a humvee, then you see the need for this. I would think just the sight of the thing would be a deterrent, which would be worth the price, not to mention the safety element it provides to officers. I believe he took this to Baltimore during the riots, but I could be wrong.

  11. The county owning an MRAP is as useful as the fire boat the fire dept has, they are both holes into which taxpayer dollars are poured!!

  12. What everyone is forgetting about the California bank robbers that had military rifles and body armor that shot it out with police in the streets of a major city ... many innocent people and police officers were shot and killed. The police were under armed and could not stop the men until the police went into a gun store and the owner armed them with high powered rifles and they eventually were able to kill the bank robbers .... the real absurdity came after when the bank robbers family tried to sue police for excessive force.

  13. Dear Joe. We need some kind of armored vehicle on the shore. This was free armor that was refurbished and repurposed at a fraction of what it would cost for an armored vehicle. (It absolutely had a cost but way below new armor of that type and quality /magnitude of protection. Why do we need it? The response time when we needed armor was hours. Dover AFB. or MSP State team were some of the only options. When did we need it? When someone was shooting a high powered rifle indiscriminately we waited hours for armor and I watched police hide behind the engine blocks of trucks for their only protection. When will we need it in the future? God forbid if SU, UMES, Wor Wic, or shore Hospital or business ever have an active shooter, it would be necessary to shield and protect officers and civilians alike. If this is retired, who is going to pay for the armor the shore will need? It would be governmental malpractice to retire this vehicle without purchasing some new armor to replace it. I wish we lived in a world without school shootings and workplace violence but we don’t live there now. Mr. S, please go ask some people why we really have the MRAP and what purpose it will serve if it really hits the fan. Also ask how long we waited for armor before the MRAP. The police should not have to go back to hiding themselves and civilians behind engine blocks to do their jobs.

  14. I thought this was free. Thought they got it instead of a $350,000 bill for a bearcat. No?

  15. Going to need that for the hood.

  16. The current climate shows exactly why we need equipment like this available to law enforcement in our area. Remember 99.9% of law enforcement are still the good guys.

  17. What the cops fail to realize is, you have to come out of that tank eventually!!!!! They think they are safe but it is really their tomb!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. maybe he ought to ask for a lot more of them, from what we've been seeing with all the demomicRat scum running around!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Enough already. It is not ever a so called "militarization" of the police that kills anyone. It is the rare action of a rogue cop.
With that as the backdrop after the way *they* acted the past few weeks worse then any animal ever can the police need these types of vehicles. Not only for the riots that always occur after the imagined racial reason for a cop killing someone but for other situations such as hostage, barricade and mass shootings.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 9:54 you are a special kind of stupid aren't you???? This tank cost upwards of 300k+ or more to even make... my guess is, it is in the millions... They being cops, get this half price or at least cheaper than new cost but it still cost us... Then on top of buying this thing, you have gas, tires and maintenance on this thing... But then again you forget and can't see the bigger picture... OBAMA bin laden said it to your retard face on live tv... My guess is you forgot right??? Obama bin laden said and I quote, he want's a civilian national police force equal to or greater than the standing military... NOW WHY DO YOU THINK THEY WANT THAT??? Have you hear of that pesky thing called rights???? Damn pests, always in the way of things right??? I mean no there is no thing called Posse Comitatus that forbids military to be deployed on the streets, let alone to police the streets, and so you bypass that with cops who have the same training and equipment as the military, which is why you all get beat up, and abused... That is how the military acts and trains... Shoot everything, until it stops, then shoot it more...

  21. Salisbury doesn't need anything like an armored truck. Paint kit red and give it to the SFD and at least it could take part in the parade during Firemen's week in OC. Salisbury has an attack by pirates covered with their fireboat. That should be enough.

  24. Jared....PLEASE, spend more on education? For what? Ever since the board of education was founded in the 70's our literacy levels, knowledge and competence in history, civics, and current events has plummeted! The past 7 years, less than 25% of our 8th grade kids were found to be at the average competency level of other countries! And in the upper (9th-12th) grade levels, school has turned into nothing more than INDOCTRINATION centers for the socilists! Just look at TV and THAT'S why we need armored vehicles. These Animals are burning cop cars, buildings, throwing molatove cocktails for Gods sake. WAKE UP MAN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. 11:42 not only indoctrination centers but in many communities Sby included some of the high schools need to be renamed pre detention center/pre prison centers because that is all they are. A place to try and warehouse the thugs for the day.

  34. This vehicle has been deployed once, more or less, to the previous Baltimore riots where Mike took the photo op with the Governor. The vehicle was free and is not armed with weapons as part of the vehicle. It's just an armored vehicle. As a law enforcement agency, I wouldn't have turned this down because why not. It's just a bulletproof vehicle although it may look menacing. I don't see anything wrong with this other than the fact that it inflates Mike's already overheated ego. Mike's ego is like an overfilled air balloon that just kinda drifts around until it hits powerlines. He's not the smartest tool in the shed. He's more like a spoon, dull and predictable, but will pick stuff up that drips. His haircut and 'years of police work' cutting people's mufflers off on the bypass always gives me the faint whiff of feces when i'm around him. Unfortunately, that's all the time. If you look at the photo, his head is almost as big as the rear of the vehicle. That's not perspective, that's really how big his head is.

Putting aside the fact that much of that money is funneled right back out of the education system even if all did go there it wouldn't help a thing. The problem is the parents or who the hell it is "raising" the students. That is the uncomfortable conversation morons like this schablein won't have.
The major problem with the people around here like him is they live in podunk Salisbury and have no clue what goes on in the real world. When they do get off the Eastern Shore their main concern is what bars they are going to instead of getting out and getting real life experience. They get their "facts" from politicians the MSM and social media.
