Hundreds of demonstrators, chanting and holding signs, drove and marched through Baltimore streets from Saturday afternoon into the early hours of Sunday to call attention to the killing of a Minnesota man at the hands of police, as city leaders urged the protesters to remain peaceful while acknowledging their frustration and pain.
What started as peaceful protests evolved into numerous tense moments as the hours passed, with items thrown at police, a bank set ablaze and some store fronts and a city van broken into.
For the most part, police were cautious in interactions with protesters, though they held a firm line at City Hall. There, just before midnight, someone from the crowd flung a shopping cart across the barricade toward officers. Protesters initially scattered, seemingly fearing police response, but the officers remained in place. Shortly after, though, they came through the barricade, appearing to chase a woman in the crowd.
Anger and frustration over the death of George Floyd, who died after being pinned by the neck to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer, bubbled over in city after city around the country. Protests turned violent with demonstrators confronting police in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and elsewhere.
In Baltimore, protesters threw water bottles and vandalized a city van around 9:30 p.m., even as others urged them to stop. Crowd members chanted “Hands up! Don’t shoot!” and police in riot gear with shields moved the protesters back. Three hours later, both sides remained there.

LOL "protest" try rioting. These people don't know how to protest. I would say it's because of their inherent animalistic traits but that would be an insult to animals since animals are more civilized.
ReplyDeleteGood, maybe the cops will start to see the climate they created by abusing and harassing and murdering people!!!! I keep telling you POS cops Your time will come and you will always pay the piper... If you POS want tyranny you are going to have to fight for it, as we want freedom and we are fighting for it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with the burning and looting, but for god sake, if you are then at least do it to the people who are doing this to you... Target and auto parts stores didn't do this to you, they didn't help have this done to you, they didn't pass laws to allow this to go on happening to you!!!!!
Good, then if I were Baltimore Chief of Police, I’d instruct my police officers to depart the streets, return to their families, and give the protesters space to act. Ignore them all allow the opportunity to release their (or is it spelled thier) frustration by burnIng and lootIng anyone’s private property. Then leave the results as a permanent reminder of the rioter’s (no longer protestor) actions.
DeleteI hope they burn their own neighborhoods down to the ground.
So where is WBOC OR WMDT in all of this?
ReplyDeleteI have seen no reporting of this or the riots in Dover over the weekend!
The need to get off their collective asses and do their jobs and report the news. You cannot spin this!!!
Do they think ignoring this will make the problems go away?
Described as a tense moment “ bank set on fire” and numerous cars damaged. Lol. Media loves rioters.... social distancing and mask in Maryland bye bye 👋
ReplyDeleteIt’s a coup hidden in a riot
ReplyDeleteYou sound stupid 9:10 The only ones who suffer from this are the ghetto dwellers. More affluent areas will rebuild and get back on with life. The areas that were destroyed in the minorities areas won't be rebuild. They had few services and choices to begin with now it will be much less. Just like what happened in Baltimore a few years ago. Even areas after the 1968 riots look the same today as they did after the riots then. Also the black on black crime will break records. This is always the case after riots. The police stop being pro active in black areas and this gives them free reign to blow each others brains out even more then they normally do . Mark my words when it's all said and ones to suffer any major consequences will be poor blacks I just wish other blacks had the sense to know this.
ReplyDelete9:08 presents an interesting opportunity to explain that the actions of the few do not define the many. Isn't that the point people are trying to make about police officers after all? The point and pain behind the protests cannot be dismissed simply because some horrible people are using it as an excuse to destroy and loot.
ReplyDelete9:11 perhaps they are reluctant to enter the area since cops have been attacking journalists and identified members of the press as well.
ReplyDelete10:21 Maybe journalists (and I use that word loosely) shouldn’t put themselves in the middle of it. Play stupid games win stupid prizes
DeleteWhere is Adolph Hogan, aka Hitler? MD National Guard is not recorded as being on alert / standby? Is Hitler waiting for MD to burn? This will give Adolph Hogan and his Democrat politians the right to steal more money from MD State Employees Retirement Fund.
ReplyDeleteAdolph Hogan is a supporter of these ANARCHIST groups. Hogan can let Baltimore burn to the ground but don't steal my retirement or raise my taxes for his ignorance / stupidity.
Why has the Mayor and Adolph Hogan not authorized use of gas? I don't mean 2 - 3 grenades. I mean use gas foggers and gas grenades. This will cause them to disperse. Allowing these ANARCHIST into a one way out and then arrest all of them with charges.
ReplyDeleteLeaders need to do what they were elected to do. Protect the citizens not rioters.
They need to do their job instead of hiding and grow some gonads.
I don't see a problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that all the respected Black leaders, and all the Reverends (there's 1000's of "Reverends" in Charm City), that have worked so hard and tirelessly to beautify the city; create jobs; bring in business; upgrade the schools, etc., will soon appear and calm the crowds.
NOT.
This morning in Southern California:
ReplyDelete"Hey man, who gave you the new Nike's and the Gucci stuff and that fine Rolex?"
"George Floyd."
"Well God bless George Floyd".
"By the way, who is George Floyd?"
The looters need to go to Pelosi and Schumer’s houses. Lots of valuables there. And the police should ignore the thugs just like all other places where they looked the other way.
ReplyDeleteProtesters and looters need to really get this going and make a real statement with added gunfire. Just throwing junk isn't enough to get the point across. Time to start shooting the cops. At the very least set a few on fire with gas.
ReplyDeleteTerroristic rhetoric?
DeleteI'm waiting to see them hit the "gated communities" that Hollywood lives in. I mean just look at all the "stuff" they have and actually they are all liberals who don't believe in guns right, so they'll probably just hand over their stuff in support of the movement. WRONG!!! Once their stuff starts getting grabbed and their houses burned down you'll hear a different story.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure MLK would be ashamed.
ReplyDeleteDown south, most neighborhoods and apartment complexes are now gated communities. In Hilton Head SC there were some places and shopping areas that had an armed guard you had to go through and you had to pay a five dollar fee to enter to help pay his salary! I think that now that the animals are running the zoo, you will see more and more of this here on the shore and elsewhere. Everyone else is on their own!
ReplyDeleteAnimals climb over gates 1248, let alone afford HH SC.
