Former President Jimmy Carter hospitalized to relieve pressure in brain
Former President Jimmy Carter was hospitalized Monday night for a procedure to relieve pressure on his brain caused by bleeding, The Carter Center said in a statement. The bleeding was caused by Mr. Carter's recent falls, the statement explained.
"President Carter is resting comfortably and his wife, Rosalynn, is with him," according to the statement. The procedure will take place Tuesday morning at the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
CBS News medical contributor Dr. David Agus said that the procedure is normally quick. "Basically, they're just drilling a small hole in the brain and draining the fluid that is causing the pressure," Agus told CBSN. "So the procedure itself — you could be in the operating room, say, an hour."

Impeachment witness Fiona Hill blows Steele dossier out of the water
Fiona Hill, President Trump's left-leaning former Russia adviser at the National Security Council, has pretty well blown the Steele dossier out of the water. According to the Daily Caller:
"A former White House official who [sic] Democrats consider a key witness in their impeachment inquiry told lawmakers in October that she believed Russians likely planted disinformation about President Donald Trump with dossier author Christopher Steele.
"Fiona Hill, who served as the White House's top adviser on Russia affairs until July, told lawmakers she was "shocked" to find out that Steele, a former MI6 officer, was the author of the dossier. That's in large part because when she had met with Steele in the years leading up to his dossier work, he was "constantly try to drum up business."
"Hill, who was deposed in the impeachment inquiry on Oct. 14, said Steele's eagerness to obtain work made him vulnerable to Russian disinformation."
It was always garbage, and a good Russia expert such as herself could see it immediately.
It was a "rabbit hole." It was the sort of thing that the Russians liked to cook up. It was done to discredit President Trump because she knew they wanted to do that. And its purveyor, former British spy Christopher Steele, was just the right sort of dupe to get the ball rolling, Hill testified. She said as much back in September, too.
That's the takeaway from her deposition last October in her testimony to House impeachment inquiry chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, under questioning from Rep. Jim Jordan.

Newt Gingrich Endorses Job Creators Network’s Healthcare Proposal
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich endorsed the Job Creators Network Foundation’s healthcare framework Friday, charging that the plan is a “smart, comprehensive effort” to fix what’s wrong with America’s current healthcare system.
Gingrich backed the Job Creators Network Foundation’s “Healthcare For You” framework, contending that the plan would both fix America’s healthcare woes and stop the Democrats’ single-payer Medicare for All proposals.
Former Speaker Gingrich said:
‘Healthcare for You’ is a smart, comprehensive effort to fix what’s wrong with the current system, stop ‘Medicare for All’ in its tracks, and begin building the kind of modern, personalized healthcare system the American people want and deserve. Their framework will protect your choice of doctor, lower health care prices, and provide more affordable options for insurance. And importantly, it will give people with pre-existing conditions access to the highest quality of care that most Obamacare plans remove from their narrow networks.
The Job Creators Network Foundation’s Healthcare For You proposal would lower healthcare costs and give Americans more individual control over their healthcare choices.
The plan would create Personal Health Management Accounts, which would allow patients to purchase insurance plans that will enable individuals to buy plans that fulfill their needs. The Personal Health Management Accounts would make employees’ health insurance plans portable so that workers do not have to worry about losing their health insurance when they switch jobs.

Fired CBS Staffer Not Involved, Real Epstein Leaker Says
A CBS News employee who lost her job for allegedly being the whistleblower on ABC News withholding a story on Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking told former NBC host Megyn Kelly she did not leak the video as alleged.
And Project Veritas printed an open letter from an ABC News staffer identifying as "Ignotus," claiming "Why I, alone, released the Amy Robach Epstein tape."
Ashley Bianco was fired four days into her job at CBS because ABC News had determined she clipped and saved the hot-mic video in the ABC News computer system.
"Did you leak the tape?" Kelly asked her, for a video published on YouTube. "I did not," Bianco responded. "Not to anyone? At any time?" Kelly replied. "No, never," Bianco said.
Bianco did admit to Kelly she "essentially marked it into the system."
"I was watching the comments while I was at my desk, and I had seen what she was saying, and I went to my manager and said, 'Do you see what she's saying? Does she know that she's on a hot mic?'" Bianco said.

Porsche launches into New Jersey building's second floor leaving 2 dead, police say
Two people were killed in New Jersey early Sunday when a Porsche launched into the air and smashed into the second story of a commercial building, investigators said.
The sports car, a 2010 Porsche Boxster convertible, was traveling at “a high rate of speed” when the driver lost control, hit a center median and struck an embankment that sent it smashing through the building, Toms River Police spokeswoman Jillian Messina told Fox News.
The victims were later identified as 22-year-old Braden DeMartin of Toms River and his passenger, 23-year-old Daniel Foley, also of Toms River, the department said in a news release. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Florida county declares it's a ‘Second Amendment sanctuary’ to protect gun rights
Lake County, Florida, commissioners voted to make their region a “sanctuary county” for the Second Amendment.
In a unanimous resolution, the commission voted to declare the county a “Second Amendment sanctuary,” meaning that local law enforcement would not participate in any federally mandated gun restrictions. The resolution came in response to former presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s plan to confiscate all AR-15s and other “weapons of war.”
“This draws a line in the sand,” Commissioner Josh Blake told the Orlando Sentinel. “It doesn’t mince words. And I hope it sends a message to what can be described as the authoritarian control freaks.”
He claimed that Democrats such as O’Rourke “see it as their job to forcibly disarm their fellow citizens, and with all due respect that simply won’t be happening in Lake County.”

Girl, 14, is charged with the murder of a well-known Philadelphia animal rescuer
A 14-year-old girl has been charged with the murder of a well-known animal rescuer who was found tied to his bed naked and beaten to death at his Philadelphia home.
Ajahnae Smaugh is accused of killing Albert Chernoff, 59, with a blunt weapon around 10.30pm Monday night at his home in Rhawnhurst.
The teenager, who surrendered to police on Thursday, is also charged with tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and possession of an instrument of crime, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Officers had gone to the victim's home after receiving a report from a neighbor Tuesday shortly before 3am, supposedly because Chernoff's car was rolled up against the garage door and items inside had been moved around.

Is Lisa Page singing to Durham’s prosecutors?
There is a fascinating tidbit that suggests a cooperating witness may be helping build the case against the coup plotters. I have for a long time suspected that Lisa Page could turn state’s evidence when it comes to plea deal time in the investigation of the investigators on the Russia Hoax. The former FBI attorney serving Deputy Director Andrew McCabe saw her adulterous affair with Peter Strzok exposed, and the lovebirds broke up. Page lost her job, compounding the humiliation and sore feelings.
More to the point during the summer of 2018, when questioned behind closed doors by Congress (this was when the GOP ran the House), Page contradicted testimony offered by Strzok.
Page gave us new information that Strzok either wouldn't or couldn't, confirming some of the concerns we had about these investigations and the people involved in running them.
Today we'll continue our deposition with Page to uncover more.
— John Ratcliffe (@RepRatcliffe) July 16, 2018
Some saw her as throwing Strzok “under the bus.”
Lisa Page confirmed to GOP lawmakers that the text messages sent between her and her lover Strzok “meant exactly what they said,” contrary to Strzok’s testimony.

Judicial Watch: White House Visitor Logs Detail Meetings of Eric Ciaramella
Judicial Watch has performed an analysis of Obama-era White House visitor logs which detail meetings of controversial CIA employee Eric Ciaramella, who had been assigned to the White House. Ciaramella reportedly was detailed to the Obama White House in 2015 and returned to the CIA during the Trump administration in 2017. The logs also reveal Alexandra Chalupa, a contractor hired by the DNC during the 2016 election who coordinated with Ukrainians to investigate President Trump and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort, visited the White House 27 times.
The White House visitor logs revealed the following individuals met with Eric Ciaramella while he was detailed to the Obama White House:
Daria Kaleniuk: Co-founder and executive director of the Soros-funded Anticorruption Action Center (AntAC) in Ukraine. She visited on December 9, 2015
The Hill reported that in April 2016, during the U.S. presidential race, the U.S. Embassy under Obama in Kiev, “took the rare step of trying to press the Ukrainian government to back off its investigation of both the U.S. aid and (AntAC).”

Female Gun Owners: We Prefer the AR-15
In the aftermath of a recent Florida self-defense shooting, female gun owners argued that the AR-15 provides specific advantages to women for home defense, vehemently rejecting the views of gun-control activists who insist the firearm is unnecessary.
Speaking with the Washington Free Beacon on Friday, five female firearm owners and advocates said the AR-15 platform offers several features that are ideal for women specifically. Robyn M. Sandoval, executive director of A Girl & A Gun Women's Shooting League, said the rifle is both more effective and safer for female shooters.
"ARs are an excellent choice for women for home defense," Sandoval told the Free Beacon. "The platform is relatively lightweight and easy to hold and customize so that the firearm fits her body correctly. Having a rifle that is the right size for the shooter makes it more comfortable to shoot and therefore more accurate and safer."
Many Democrat politicians, including 2020 frontrunner Joe Biden, have long decried the AR-15 as both dangerous and an impractical or unnecessary firearm for civilians, especially women. But the female firearm owners the Free Beacon spoke to rejected the logic of these pro-gun-control men.
"AR-15s are perfect for women," Mary Chastain, a writer and gun owner, said. "Despite the size, they are lightweight and have hardly any kickback. This allows us to aim well and shoot the target where we want to."

Fauxcahontas Confirms Taxpayers Cover Illegal Immigrants in Health Insurance Plan
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) confirmed Friday that her $52 trillion Medicare-for-All plan will cover illegal immigrants.
Warren attended a “Latinx town hall” in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday and confirmed during a Q&A session that her Medicare-for-All plan will, in fact, cover the 11-22 million illegal immigrants residing in the United States.
An attendee asked:
"We know that you have included undocumented people in your plans to provide Medicare-for-All, so my question is why did you decide to include people regardless of immigration status, and would this include obtaining subsidies like the ACA’s – Affordable Care Act’s – affordability subsidies?
“Would you also support access to the children’s health insurance program without regard to immigration stuff?” he added.
“I’m really glad you asked this. Medicare-for-All, as I put this together, covers everyone, regardless of immigration status, and that’s it,” Warren said to applause.

Nunes demands closed-door testimony from Schiff on whistleblower conversations
Rep. Devin Nunes sent a letter to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff demanding he provide a closed-door testimony on his conversations with the whistleblower whose complaint launched impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
Nunes, the highest-ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said Schiff, who has held all hearings in the early process of impeachment, must disclose his own involvement with the whistleblower behind closed doors.
"On November 6th, you announced the beginning of public hearings associated with the Democratic Party's partisan impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump," Nunes said in a Friday letter. "Based on the precedent and lack of jurisdiction, the House Intelligence Committee should not take the lead in conducting such hearings; however, by now the American people know your desire to see the duly-elected president removed from office outweighs your sense of responsibility to running a functioning intelligence oversight committee."
He added, "Prior to the start of your public show trial next week, at least one additional closed-door deposition must take place. Specifically, I request that you sit for a closed-door deposition before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight Committees."

Ocasio-Cortez Dismisses Fears Democrat Party Moving Too Far Left: ‘We Are Bringing the Party Home’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) dismissed the mounting concerns from establishment Democrats, who fear that she and presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) are moving the Democrat Party “too far left,” asserting that the ultra-leftist movement is “bringing the party home.”
Ocasio-Cortez stumped with Sanders in Iowa over the weekend and addressed critics who say that candidates like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Sanders are moving the Democrat Party “too far left” with their proposals for “free” college, Medicare for All, and multitrillion-dollar climate change proposals.
“When people try to accuse us of going too far left — we’re not pushing the party left,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd in Coralville, Iowa. “We are bringing the party home.”
“Are you all ready for a revolution?” she continued, using the same rhetoric Sanders has been touting for years. “I sure am.”

‘Why go back to the U.S.?’ This divorced retiree left L.A. for Mexico — where he found love and halved his cost of living
Fred Uriarte found love twice in Mexico.
First with the country itself, then with a Mexican woman he met at a party.
It’s a far cry from his life in Los Angeles right before he left for Mexico in 2015. The 66-year-old former aerospace management professional had recently gotten a divorce and sold his home and was temporarily living at his sister’s house while he figured things out. “It was kind of depressing. Here I am 60 years old, living in my sister’s spare bedroom with my belongings in an 8-by-10 storage unit.”
Then a friend invited him to visit her in Akumal, Mexico — a little town about 25 miles from Playa del Carmen, a popular tourist spot on the Caribbean. “She was living in this condo on the beach. You walk in and there are sliding glass doors that look at the water. Her backyard was the Caribbean,” recalls Uriarte, who’d always dreamed of a house on the beach. It was on that day he decided the next chapter of his life would be in Mexico, where he’d spent two years of his childhood

Return to Makin Island
This is a very moving story about Makin Island and the Marines defense against the Japanese. The words below and the video tells it all.
Makin Island
A true story about 19 marines killed on an island (defending against the Japanese). They had to retreat, so asked the islanders to please bury them for us. Years later, they checked and found a man who had been a teenager then and remembered where they were buried. They sent a C130 and an honor guard over there and found all 19 had been buried with their helmets on, their rifles in their hands, in perfect condition. The is landers had really done a wonderful job. As they were loading the bodies, a voice from out of nowhere started singing The Marine Hymn"..........gave everyone goose bumps. Turns out, the voice was from a man who spoke no English but remembered a song the Marines taught him when they landed. Very touching. They got all 19 and their photos are at the end. This of course was WW2! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS - BE SURE YOU'RE SITTING DOWN. THIS ONE OF THOSE GESTURES FOR WHICH THERE ARE NO WORDS..
Sheriff Defends ‘In God We Trust’ Patrol Car Decal After Atheists Complain
A sheriff of Brevard County, Florida, has refused to back down from the decision to place new decals on patrol cars that depict the phrase “In God We Trust” after an atheist group lodged a complaint.
“They have a better chance of me waking up thin tomorrow morning than they do of me taking that motto off our cars!” Sheriff Wayne Ivey told Fox News. “I personally believe that our country is at a tipping point, and if we, as strong patriotic Americans, don’t stand for the principals of our great nation, we are going to lose the America we all know and love!”
Ivey was responding to the complaint by the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), which expressed its view in a letter that the new decal is “frightening and politically dubious.”

Donald Trump Launches ‘Black Voices for Trump’ Coalition for 2020
President Donald Trump traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday to launch the “Black Voices for Trump” coalition for his 2020 re-election campaign.
“We’re going to campaign for every last African American vote in 2020,” he said in a speech as the crowd cheered.
The president celebrated his successful first term presidency, bringing unemployment for the black community to historic lows, restoring the strength of the economy, passing criminal justice reform, and creating tax-exempt opportunity zones.
Trump recalled his controversial statement during the 2016 campaign to the black community, asking them “What the hell do you have to lose?” by supporting a Republican for president.
“I do my best work off-script,” Trump said, and added with a grin, “I hate to say this, I also do my worst work … it makes things very exciting.”
Many prominent African-American Trump supporters joined the event audience, including Pastor Darrell Scott and “Diamond and Silk,” as well as Harrison Floyd.
Trump was introduced by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson, who delivered a passionate speech in defense of the president.

CNN Truth Warrior Brian Stelter Courageously Spell-Checks Trump’s Twitter Feed
CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter has demonstrated yet again why he is perhaps the most indispensable name in cable news. The host of Reliable Sources recently went above and beyond the call of duty in his quest to speak truth to power by performing a thorough spellcheck of President Donald Trump's tweets.
"Everybody makes spelling mistakes," Stelter said in opening the five-minute segment devoted entirely to Trump's typos. "I do, everybody does. But on Twitter, Donald Trump makes a lot more of them than most people."
Stelter explained that the president's spelling mistakes were especially relevant because "he's been ridiculed for it by late-night comics."
The presidential typos, however, are no laughing matter. "It's actually not that funny," Stelter analyzed. "I know English teachers are horrified by the president's poor form. Lots of other people are embarrassed by it too."

Dance Legend Sean Spicer Causes Bitter Libs to Lose Faith in Democracy
Trump haters denounce 'popular vote' as public support propels beloved former press secretary to victory
Sean Spicer must be getting tired of winning. The beloved former White House press secretary advanced to the next round on ABC's Dancing With The Stars on Monday thanks to the overwhelming support of the voting public.
Spicer's nautically themed jazz routine was panned by the so-called judges, but the will of the people carried the day after President Donald Trump urged Americans to cast votes for his former aide.

Vote for Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars. He is a great and very loyal guy who is working very hard! #MAGA https://t.co/JGvKANCRqZSpicer's success on the dance floor has, predictably, caused the nation's libs to lose their degenerate minds and abandon their faith in direct democracy. Aggrieved Trump haters have become increasingly agitated as popular support continues to propel Spicer towards an inevitable victory in spite of his low scores.

Biden Lobbied Congress as VP on Behalf of Brother’s Close Associate
Former vice president Joe Biden's younger brother Frank said the 2020 frontrunner intervened on behalf of an oil heiress and lobbyist to advance animal cruelty legislation, according to recently unearthed videotaped remarks.
In taped remarks to the 2013 American Equine Summit obtained by Politico, Democratic Florida state legislator Joe Abruzzo and the younger Biden spoke frankly about how the vice president played a key role in the passage of a horse slaughter ban after being lobbied by his brother.
When oil heiress and horse enthusiast Victoria McCullough took up the pet cause of banning horse slaughter operations in the United States in 2008, she hired Abruzzo to lobby Congress on her behalf. Abruzzo enlisted the support of Frank Biden, who was lobbying the Florida legislature on behalf of a charter school project.
"I turned also to Frank and said, ‘We may need a little help from the vice president and the administration talking to some senators,'" Abruzzo said. "And when Frank and the vice president and [Florida Democratic representative Debbie] Wasserman Schultz jumped in, by the morning sunrise, after Victoria's advocacy as well, we had no opposition and a voice vote and a passage of appropriations."
"My brother's long-term relationships in the Senate proved to be the final nail in the coffin to be able to pull this thing forward," Frank Biden added.

Complaint: McConnell Challenger Illegally Funding Campaign
A radio host's recently launched campaign to unseat Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has violated campaign finance laws, according to a complaint filed by the Kentucky Republican Party.
Kentucky Democrat and sports radio host Matt Jones, who launched his bid to unseat Kentucky's senior senator in September, is accused of violating Federal Election Commission regulations prohibiting campaigns from taking corporate donations. The party's complaint argues that Jones is accepting corporate contributions from iHeartMedia, which syndicates his radio show, and Simon & Schuster, publisher of his upcoming book Mitch, Please!
State GOP chairman J. McCauley Brown accused Jones of ignoring campaign finance laws and attempting to "conceal these violations from both the FEC and the public."
"Matt Jones must be held accountable immediately for misusing multiple platforms paid for by his corporate sponsors to unlawfully promote his U.S. Senate candidacy," Brown said in a statement.

VETERANS 'UNCOMFORTABLE' WITH 'THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE,' ASK FOR MORE CIVILIAN SUPPORT THIS VETERANS DAY
Almost half of U.S. veterans and active service members feel uncomfortable with being thanked for their service, a new survey has revealed.
According to a poll commissioned by the Cohen Veterans Network (CVN), a national not-for-profit network of mental health clinics for post-9/11 veterans and military families, 49 percent of active and former members of the armed services feel uneasy with the expression "Thank you for your service."
It comes as 91 percent Americans used the expression, according to the survey, and as the country prepares to commemorate its former military service members on Monday for Veterans Day.
"I feel very uncomfortable when civilians say thank you for your service, because I don't know what to say back," said a veteran employed at a Cohen Clinic in Washington.

College kids’ hard left turn means trouble ahead for America
If college kids’ political views are a clue to the nation’s future, America is headed over a left-wing cliff.
Consider: A recent Chegg/College Pulse poll found 69% of students say they’d vote for a Democrat in 2020, while just 23% back President Trump. Yet for voters of all ages, recent RealClearPolitics poll averages put the president within 7 points of the top Dems (Joe Biden, Liz Warren and Bernie Sanders).
Among kids who lean Democrat, Chegg found, more than half back Sanders (28%) or Warren (30%) — the two left-most wannabes.
Sanders is also the top choice among Democrat and independent undergrads, with 22%, in a McLaughlin poll for Yale’s William F. Buckley Jr. Program. That survey highlighted other eye-opening trends: College kids back the Green New Deal 2-1, and two-thirds want Medicare for All.
And get this: The Yale study says 32% of college kids believe it’s sometimes OK to “shout down” campus speakers, and 31% are actually OK using “physical violence” to stamp out “hate speech” or “racially charged language.”
The dangers there are obvious: Who decides what speech deserves to be silenced, even perhaps with violence? And what kind of society are we headed for when that kind of thinking becomes so prevalent?

Schiff rejects Hunter Biden, 'whistleblower' as impeachment witnesses
House Republicans want to call Hunter Biden and the “whistleblower” as witnesses in the Democratic impeachment inquiry, but House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is having none of it.
In a Saturday statement, the California Democrat said he would refuse to allow the public committee hearings, which begin Wednesday, to be used to pursue “sham investigations into the Bidens.”
“This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens,” said Mr. Schiff, “or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit or to facilitate the President’s effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm.”
In a separate letter to Mr. Nunes obtained by CNN, Mr. Schiff said that the anonymous person “has a right under laws championed by this committee to remain anonymous and to be protected from harm.”
New - Schiff makes clear to Nunes that whistleblower will NOT be testifying, saying the inquiry has gathered evidence “that not only confirms but far exceeds” the complaint. “The whistleblower’s testimony is therefore redundant and unnecessary,” per letter obtained by CNN. pic.twitter.com/MtjrrOwGhP

Nikki Haley claims Kelly and Tillerson asked her to help them ‘save the country’ from Trump
Nikki Haley condemned John Kelly and Rex Tillerson for going around the president when they had issues with his policy decisions.
Kelly and Tillerson, who served as President Trump’s chief of staff and secretary of state respectively, were both forced out of the administration following policy disagreements. In her new book, Haley described a situation in which Kelly and Tillerson came to her and asked her to “undermine” the president instead of confronting Trump directly about a foreign policy decision.
“Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” Haley wrote.
“Instead of saying that to me, they should have been saying that to the president, not asking me to join them on their sidebar plan. It should have been, go tell the president what your differences are and quit if you don’t like what he’s doing,” Haley said, adding, “But to undermine the president is really a very dangerous thing.”

NY Times: ‘Tidal Wave’ of Mass Immigration Hands Virginia to Democrats
A “tidal wave” of mass immigration has “tilt(ed) the field toward the Democrats” in the state of Virginia, the New York Times admits.
Last week, Democrats took control of Virginia’s House of Delegates and the State Senate. Now, the Democrats hold power over the state’s legislature, the governor’s seat and the lieutenant governor’s seat — the first time since 1993 that this has occurred.
The New York Times now admits that four to five decades of mass immigration — where about 1.2 million legal immigrants are admitted to the United States every year — has shifted Virginia into a blue state:
Not long ago, this rolling green stretch of Northern Virginia was farmland. Most people who could vote had grown up here. And when they did, they usually chose Republicans.
The fields of Loudoun County are disappearing. In their place is row upon row of cookie-cutter townhouses, clipped lawns and cul-de-sacs — a suburban landscape for as far as the eye can see. Unlike three decades ago, the residents are often from other places, like India and Korea. And when they vote, it is often for Democrats.
…
“It’s a totally different world,” said Charles Poland, 85, a retired history professor whose family has lived in Loudoun County for four generations. His family farm is now dotted with subdivisions filled with four and five-bedroom homes that sell for $750,000. The family legacy is a road named Poland. “If my parents came back today, they wouldn’t recognize the place. The changes came like a tidal wave.”

5 Facts to Know About Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a well-known American holiday, but there are also a few misconceptions about it — like how it’s spelled or whom exactly it celebrates. To clear some of that up, here are the important facts you should know.
Veterans Day does NOT have an apostrophe.
A lot of people think it’s “Veteran’s Day” or “Veterans’ Day,” but they’re wrong. The holiday is not a day that “belongs” to one veteran or multiple veterans, which is what an apostrophe implies. It’s a day for honoring all veterans — so no apostrophe needed.
Veterans Day is NOT the Same as Memorial Day.
A lot of Americans get this confused, and we’ll be honest — it can be a little annoying to all of the living veterans out there.
