A sheriff of Brevard County, Florida, has refused to back down from the decision to place new decals on patrol cars that depict the phrase “In God We Trust” after an atheist group lodged a complaint.
“They have a better chance of me waking up thin tomorrow morning than they do of me taking that motto off our cars!” Sheriff Wayne Ivey told Fox News. “I personally believe that our country is at a tipping point, and if we, as strong patriotic Americans, don’t stand for the principals of our great nation, we are going to lose the America we all know and love!”
Ivey was responding to the complaint by the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), which expressed its view in a letter that the new decal is “frightening and politically dubious.”

ReplyDeleteGood man! Well done.
Good, about time someone stood up and fought back, but don't count on anyone from SBY to stand up against nothing... They are some of the best slaves I have ever met!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish people would be honest about this. This isn't about patriotism, or any sort of "founding American anything." This is about smuggling their brand of religiosity into the public sector and forcing it on everyone that is not like them.
ReplyDeleteAt least have the decency to be honest about it.
Our Secular Republic was founded on religious liberty, explicitly making government neutral on all things religious, to protect each persons religious liberty. To pretend otherwise is a perversion of it's meaning and intent.
What is double disgusting is that these same "Christians" will lecture you about where morals come from, and how much more "moral" they are... at the same time being dishonest about their intent with these messages. It's a lie, and lying is a sin. This is about flexing the muscles of a tyrannical majority, and saying to those not Christian that "you are not welcome."
It immediately sends the message that if you aren't Christian you will not be treated equally. It is a message of supremacy, and power.
You should burn all your money or give it away then.

You are completely full of crap. A troll.
This is about the First Amendment. Period.
I must ask you 3:14, How do police know if you are a Christian or not ?

ReplyDeleteThe very Amendment that has the establishment clause in it? That is what this is about. The wall of separation between church and state, as penned by Thomas Jefferson to the Dabury Baptists... you know the guy who wrote those Amendments and the Constitution. The same guy that said we are not, nor are in any way founded on the Christian religion?
Might wanna brush up on your history. Presenting truth and facts is the exact opposite of trolling.

ReplyDeleteIf you are a Sikh and wearing a turban. If you are a Muslim and and wearing your hijab. You are a Jew wearing a Yamaka.
Furthermore, it's not about recognizing. It's about sending a message that "those not the same not welcome".
Remember, Nazis had the slogan "God with Us" emblazoned on their belt buckles. I'm not calling these folks Nazis... but I pointing out the problem with Government making religious proclamations or statements.

ReplyDeleteOh, you are referring to the "In God We Trust" that was added to the money during the Communist "red scare" of the 1950's? It was added by a majority of Christians in the legislature as a way to differentiate between America and the "godless" communists?
Yea, there were the same problems with that then, but since the government was made up of almost exclusively Christians, the legislation was passed to add it. Before then the money had "mind your business" on it. Another clear example of a tyrannical majority asserting it's will... which is PRECISELY why the establishment clause was established. Unfortunately, this has never been problem has never been rectified. Thy HYSTERICAL part of this, is when it is argued in the courts... it's represented as a "secular message" and "and all inclusive" message of no specific religion... but in ANY OTHER CONVERSATION it is represented for what it actually is. This is dishonest, and insulting.
Before it's penning there was much infighting between different sects of Christians... some of it quite violent, many communities making laws about which kind of Christians could hold office. Hence the not religious tests, and the establishment clause, AND setting up our Constitution as a Secular document, establishing a Secular Republic.
Hey Mike Lewis when are you going to put this on our County Sheriff's cars?
ReplyDeleteOh wait! Anyone who supports and endorsed the Socialist Democrat Jake Day IS NOT and Conservative or a Christian.
Mike Lewis is a Socialist!

ReplyDeleteBeing a Conservative and being a Christian are not the same thing. I am Conservative, and an atheist, and this is not the kind of business the government should be getting into.
We should respect the wisdom of the founding fathers, and respect why they penned the establishment clause, and why they chose to set up a Secular Republic.
