Dear Friends and Supporters,

It truly has been a whirlwind since last year’s Fundraiser anticipating the 2018 Election, and the dramatic changes that occurred in the Maryland General Assembly. We certainly have had significant change, more than expected. The Governor won a second term in a big way, the House Republicans lost members and the Senate had a net gain of new Republican Senators who are strong leaders. The Senate leadership changed as three Committee Chairmen did not return. The first year of the new term was opened with President Miller announcing his Cancer Diagnosis and then closed following the unexpected death of Speaker Busch who is now followed by Speaker Adrienne Jones. Despite the changes, our team continued to fight for less taxes, decreased regulation, continued government efficiency, and building a strong rural economy. I continued my focus on infrastructure for our small communities; affordable accessible health care, tools for communities to increase affordable workforce housing, and access to internet in our rural areas. I was successful with many legislative initiatives to address these issues without adding cost to the budget, and combined with the Governors priorities, much was accomplished in spite of the distress around us. We will still face significant challenges as the costs still outweigh the revenues.

Thank you so much for your support. The annual Crab Feast and Sausages event is scheduled for September 8th and is an opportunity both to celebrate our accomplishments and plan for the 2020 Session. I look forward to seeing you on the September 8th at Claytons.

10 States With the Worst Medical Care

You want the best possible medical care but if you live in Alaska, Mississippi, or North Carolina, you probably aren't going to get top-notch care. These three states were ranked as providing the worst medical care by a new study that recently set out to determine the best and worst healthcare systems in the U.S., Ladders reported.

The final calculations, reported by WalletHub, were based on several factors that included the number of hospital beds and physicians per state as well as the prevalence of chronic illness and disease.

After taking all this into account, Alaska was ranked as the state with the worst medical care in the U.S. This is due to its low percentage of children insured as well as the fact that there were very few at-risk adults receiving routine doctor visits over the past two years.

There were similar findings for North Carolina, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Arkansas, which rounded off the five states with the worst medical care in the U.S.

Worse Than Ever: Government Schools After 35 Years

As a semi-retired business writer who taught in Detroit 35 years ago, I returned to the classroom because a local high school was unable to replace a Latin teacher who had resigned. I hold an advanced degree in medieval studies and renewed my certification to teach Latin, history, and social studies. Once in class, I witnessed firsthand the politicized atmosphere of today’s factory-style government-monopoly schools.

My first exposure to school politics came when I renewed my certification. The 1982 certificate only listed the courses I could teach. In contrast, the 2018 version had a 300-word “Code of Ethics” that amounted to a profession of faith in collectivism, egalitarianism, state schools, and diversity (typically limited to superficial things like skin color and gender, not ideas). Nonetheless, I proceeded, thinking that I couldn’t possibly make matters worse. That much was correct.

Grosse Pointe South High School is architecturally interesting, sits in a higher-income community, and is considered a good school by locals.

SHOCKING FOIA DOCUMENT Shows FBI Agreed to Cover Up and Ignore All Hillary Crimes in Its 2016 Investigation!

A recent FOIA request by attorney Ty Clevenger resulted in a plethora of new and unredacted information concerning the actions the corrupt FBI and DOJ took to cover-up and exonerate Hillary Clinton’s email crimes.

What was released is truly shocking!

Paul Sperry from the New York Post wrote in October of 2016, shortly before the election:
Last August, FBI officials paid a visit to Hillary Clinton’s lawyers’ office in Washington and begged to see six laptop computers containing the former secretary of state’s classified e-mails. They were told to take a hike, and they did.

Clinton’s lawyers “declined to provide consent” for the bureau to even search the laptops, let alone seize them, claiming they may contain “privileged communications.”

Instead of seeking to subpoena the evidence, the FBI meekly “wished to arrange for secure storage of them in a manner agreeable to both the FBI and the attorneys” — even though the attorneys lacked authorization to handle the material, which included Top Secret information.

What the WaPo’s mass shooting numbers won’t tell you about murders in America

The Washington Post’s Sunday edition printed the name of every mass shooting victim since 1966 in the special section. While the number of victims is meant to be staggering, just a little context changes the big picture.

In a section titled “The Lives Lost,” the newspaper listed 1,196 names of shooting victims along with some descriptions of the shootings and photos of the over 400 people killed between the Sandy Hook massacre and the recent mass killing in Dayton Ohio.

“Eleven hundred ninety-six. That’s the number of names on this page,” a tweet from the paper’s Twitter account reads. “People who were doing ordinary things until they were shot to death by killers bent on mass fatalities.”

Elizabeth Warren Defends False Claim Michael Brown Was ‘Murdered’

FRANCONIA, Grafton County, New Hampshire — Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Wednesday defended her false claim last week that 18-year-old Michael Brown had been “murdered” by police in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014.

Speaking to reporters after a town hall event in Franconia, New Hampshire, Warren said that Brown had been unarmed when he was shot “in the middle of the street, by police officers, and left to die.”

The 18-year-old Brown, who was unarmed at the time, was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson on August 9, 2014. That much is true.

However, left-wing activists falsely claimed at the time that Brown was innocent of any crime; had been shot in the back; and had put his hands over his head and said, “Don’t shoot!” (hence the slogan, “Hands up, don’t shoot!”).

Austria: Islamic Extremism Is Still Number One Terror Threat

An Austrian intelligence report states that radical Islamic terrorism is still the number one security issue in the country, with returning Islamic State fighters a chief concern.

The report, which comes from the Austrian Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BVT), states that returnees from the Middle East are difficult to predict in their actions and pose a danger due to possibly having combat experience acquired overseas, Kronen Zeitung reports.

By the end of last year, the BVT estimates that at least 320 individuals from Austria travelled to fight for radical Islamic terror groups in Syria or Iraq, with 107 likely to have been killed and 93 having returned.

Dr. Mark Siegel on Epstein’s Autopsy: Hyoid Bone Breaks in Only 6-10% of Suicides – 50% of Time in Homicides

The Washington Post reported late Wednesday night that the autopsy of Jeffrey Epstein revealed he had several broken bones in his neck consistent with but, not conclusively proving strangulation.

The finding explains the delayed report by the medical examiner on the cause of death for Epstein.

The autopsy found Epstein suffered several broken bones in his neck including the Hyoid bone that is regularly broken during strangulation or homicide.

On Thursday Dr. Mark Siegel explained what this autopsy means in the investigation on Epstein’s death.

Mustaches Are More Than Just Manly, They Guard Against Sun's Rays

For all of those men who view a mustache as a largely ornamental addition to their masculine appearance, a new study reveals it can also guard against lip cancer.

"Mustaches seem to protect the lip the same way that hair protects the scalp," explained study author Dr. Daniel Aires. He is director of dermatology with the University of Kansas Health System. "While this makes intuitive sense, it had not been tested before."

To do just that, Aires and his team examined 200 male patients who had already been diagnosed with a precancerous condition known as actinic keratosis on the head or face.

"Actinic keratosis is a scaly spot on the skin that can develop into a dangerous cancer called squamous cell carcinoma," Aires explained. "Since lip skin is so thin, lip actinic keratoses can invade and become deadly faster than actinic keratoses elsewhere on the skin."

Chicago Defends Title Of 'Highest Sales Tax Rate In The Nation'

Chicago is tied with two other cities for the highest sales tax rates for a major U.S. city, adding another superlative for taxation of residents and visitors.

Chicago is home to the highest combined state and local sales tax rates in the nation, according to a new report from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation. Chicagoans pay a combined state and local sales tax rate of 10.25%. The city has held this dishonor since the Cook County Board passed a sales tax hike in 2016.

Long Beach and Glendale, Calif., share the top spot with Chicago. The report examined cities with over 200,000 people.

Chicagoans pay the city 1.25%, the county 1.75%, the transit authority 1% and the state 6.25% – for a total sales tax rate of 10.25%. The Tax Foundation specifically noted that many Chicago-area residents will shop online or in the suburbs to avoid paying the city’s high taxes. Even that work-around is being disrupted as online market places will be required to collect the state’s sales tax beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Red Flag Laws Violate Presumption of Innocence, Due Process

When tragedy strikes, as it did in two mass killings earlier this month, there is always the urge to pressure the government do something.

Governments are animated by the belief that doing something — any demonstrable overt behavior — will show that they are in control.

I understand the natural fears that good folks have that an El Paso or a Dayton episode might happen again, but doing something for the sake of appearance can be dangerous to personal liberty.

When the Constitution was written, the idea of owning arms and keeping them in the home was widespread. The colonists had just defeated the armies of King George III.

US Attorney slams Philadelphia DA, says he'll give 'adult supervision' after police shootout

The U.S. attorney in Philadelphia, William McSwain, slammed city District Attorney Larry Krasner Thursday, imploring him to "stop making excuses for criminals" and to give strong consideration to attempted murder charges for the suspect who wounded six police officers during a nearly eight-hour-long shootout that began on Wednesday afternoon.

Although the incident remains under investigation, McSwain, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, said at a news conference that his office is "going to be providing some adult supervision" to Krasner's to determine what charges the suspect should face.

McSwain blamed Krasner for fostering what he called an environment of "disrespect for law enforcement" that emboldened the gunman to open fire at officers from the Philadelphia Police Department's Narcotics Strike Force who were attempting to serve a warrant in the Nicetown neighborhood.

Why is the presidential field so old?

Here are the ages the top presidential candidates will be on Inauguration Day, 2021: Bernie Sanders, 79; Joe Biden, 78; Donald Trump, 74; and Elizabeth Warren, 71.

If Sanders were elected and served two terms, he would be in office until age 87. If Biden did the same, he would serve until 86. If President Trump were reelected, he would serve until 78. If Warren served two terms, she would be 79.

There has never been a moment in American history in which so many of the top contenders for the presidency have been so old. There has never even been a time when two candidates over 70 ran against each other in a general election.

Fatal Pedestrian Civil Suit Could Be Headed Back To Worcester

Lawlor was struck by an MSP Ford Explorer

operated by Trooper James Price as he crossed the northbound lanes of Coastal Highway at 67th Street and ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

Artist says it was 'complete surprise' her Clinton dress painting ended up in Epstein home

The artist who painted the portrait of former President Bill Clinton wearing a blue dress told the Washington Examiner that it was a “complete surprise” to learn that Jeffrey Epstein, the alleged child sex trafficker, had her work hanging in his Manhattan home.

Petrina Ryan-Kleid, an Australian artist living in New York City, said, “When the [New York Academy of Art] put on a fundraiser at the Tribeca Ball that year, they sold my painting to one of the attendees. I had no idea who the buyer was at the time.”

The existence of the oil-on-canvas painting, dubbed “Parsing Bill”, depicts the former president sitting seductively in an Oval Office chair, wearing red heels and a blue dress reminiscent of the one he soiled during his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Eight Things to Know About the Biden Family’s Culture of Corruption

The family of former Vice President Joe Biden has earned millions of dollars since the start of his political career, often from dealings with heavy political overtones.

Biden, the frontrunner among 2020 Democrats, often touts his middle-class bonafides on the campaign trail. Although Biden did not become a multi-millionaire until he left the White House in 2017, the same cannot be said of his family. In fact, several members of the Biden clan became immensely wealthy over the span of the former vice president’s 40-year political career.

Breitbart News is providing an in-depth breakdown of a few instances in which Joe Biden’s political career and his family’s financial interests seemed to intersect.

1. Joe Biden’s younger brother, James Biden, secured generous bank loans.

In the wake of Joe Biden’s upset election to the U.S. Senate in 1972, his younger brother James was able to secure a series of generous bank loans to start a Delaware night club.

President Trump has asked aides if it's possible to buy Greenland, sources say

President Donald Trump has on multiple occasions brought up buying Greenland from the Danish government and the White House counsel's office has looked into the possibility, two sources told CNN on Thursday.

Trump's interest in buying Greenland was first reported Thursday by The Wall Street Journal. The Journal reported that people familiar with the deliberations said the president has raised the issue during meetings and dinners, asking aides about the possibility and advantages of owning Greenland. He also asked his White House counsel to research the matter, according to two of the people.

Two of the people also told the Journal that Trump's aides were divided on the issue, with some praising it as solid economic strategy and others dismissing it as a passing fancy.

'Their intent is to hurt Israel': Netanyahu addresses Tlaib and Omar ban

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib will be barred from entering the country because "their intent is to hurt Israel."

The Israeli government announced Thursday morning that the two Muslim congresswomen would not be allowed into the country only days before their expected arrival. Omar and Tlaib's public support for the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to penalize Israel for their treatment of the Palestinian people, was a major reason in Israel's decision to bar them.

"There is no country in the world that respects the US and the US Congress more than the State of Israel," Netanyahu's statement began. "As a vibrant and free democracy, Israel is open to any critic and criticism, with one exception: Israel's law prohibits the entry of people who call and operate to boycott Israel, as is the case with other democracies that prevent the entry of people whose perception harms the country. The same is true of the US towards an Israeli Knesset and other public figures in the world."

AOC: Racists were key part of Trump's coalition of voters

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offered her opinion on whether President Trump's supporters are racist during an interview with Crooked Media's Pod Save America podcast.

"First of all, the biggest mistake that we have — and it's a trap that gets set by the Right, whether intentionally or unintentionally — is just the frame of asking, 'Is blank racist?'" the New York Democrat explained, arguing the conversation needs to be about racism itself, not the people who ascribe to it.

"Like all winning political phenomena ... they rely on coalition building," she continued. "So, Trump relied on a coalition, and a core part of that coalition were racists — building a coalition with all sorts of other people that could be susceptible to racist views if they were blanketed and layered and made people made feel good about it not being a racist thing."

Despite #MeToo era, most top colleges share little about sexual assaults

WASHINGTON – Despite the rise of the #MeToo movement, most of the nation’s largest public universities are less than transparent about how they handle sexual assault cases on campus.

A six-month-long investigation by Capital News Service found that among the 25 largest public universities, very few were willing to make public data about sexual assault reports, how many investigations they conducted annually and how many cases resulted in disciplinary actions or convictions.

In fact, among the 25 schools, 13 provided no information. Of those 13, eight did not answer repeated calls, five more failed to respond through their communications departments, two declined to answer any questions, and one failed to answer a public records request it said it required.

CNS made more than 70 telephone calls and sent numerous emails to all 25 schools.

After decriminalization, pot smell and joint didn’t justify search, court says; hemp laws also raise issues

Changing marijuana laws may be destroying probable cause that police officers use to justify some kinds of searches.

The latest evidence is an Aug. 12 decision by Maryland’s top court that found that officers did not have probable cause to arrest and search a man after smelling burning marijuana and discovering a joint in his car. The Legal Profession Blogand Courthouse News Service noted the decision.

The officers knew that the joint contained less than 10 grams of marijuana, a civil offense in the state, yet they arrested Michael Pacheco and searched him, discovering cocaine in his pocket, the Maryland Court of Appeals said. Officers also searched Pacheco’s car and found a marijuana stem and rolling papers.

The car search was permissible, but the full search of Pacheco was not, the court said.

Pacheco was sitting alone in his car outside a laundromat in Wheaton, Maryland, in May 2016 when the officers detected the smell.
