Nike pulls shoe with Betsy Ross American flag thanks to Colin Kaepernick

Sports apparel company Nike pulled a new shoe design ahead of its planned sales date because former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick complained about its featured Betsy Ross American flag design.

Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive because the flag marked an era when slavery existed in the United States, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Betsy Ross American flag is the nickname for the design of 13 stars that represents the 13 colonies arranged in a circle.

After the company shipped the shoes to retailers, Nike asked for them to be returned without explaining why.

  3. Just another reason why we haven't bought anything Nike in years. They are idiots! I wonder how much this cost them? They had already manufactured the shoes, shipped the shoes to the stores and now will pay again to have them shipped back to Nike. The more it cost them the better!

    1. When you speak of shipped back to Nike you do mean Nike in China right! Don't buy brand names that are made in other countries especially if their goal is to destroy America๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

  5. I agree the whole country should ban Nike Brands if they want to play this slavery thing that is worse than ever and has torn this country down then let Nike go down too. I know I am not the only American that is more fed up every day, the white citizens of this country have caved in and let them make this country a joke,. First the Confederate Flag, then all the Civil War Statues, The war was in the 1800's this is 2019 if you don't like this country and its history leave and join the refugees. You can't rewrite our whole history all this crap has lasted now longer than the whole Civil War. Take your racists attitudes and leave, we have all admitted for decades now slavery was wrong but you can't stop the hate. You won't be happy till there's another Civil War. There is no one left who was alive in the 1800's your ancestors would be ashamed of this behavior black and white.

  6. Has anyone else heard enough of this punk destroying America. Hope he gets drop-kicked to Iran. Nike ought to fold because I am offended. No more business from me. Any nike stuff is going to the trash, no to be recycled. Worthless cowards.

  12. I thought colin said it wasnt about the flag or the national anthem. It was to protest police brutality. Not buying Nike and expect to see them donate those shoes to charities who will be happy to have them to give to people who wont care what the shoe looks like.

  13. Sure glad we have Kaepernick to protect us from an image of a 13 star flag.

Maybe he should find someplace where he won't have to be offended.

Don't let the door hit you in the a$$, Colin.

  14. Nike SUCKS just like Kaepernick. Both should leave the US and promote their hate and refuse all US money.

  15. Kind of frustrated; already quit buying any of their stuff or other brands they own so I can't quit them twice.

But the symbolism of them pulling a shoe with any flag during Independence Day week is twice as aggravating. It will be a day to celebrate when their sales have sunk so low their stock is delisted by Wall Street.

  19. The ignorant supporters of that decision..(the 13 stars being representative of our colonial/slavery period) are unaware that the 13 stripes are representative of the original colonies as well.

  20. Haven't supported them in years. Will never buy their products. All Americans should do the same.

  22. Unfortunately this is the way business is done these days - make or take a political stand via Dems hostilities - THEN watch the Republicans once again put perfect perspective on the situation and Nike agrees. Nike makes money, Republicans continue to be sound minded and Nancy and Maxine continue to control the donkey's (Dems) being idiots.

This time, a major business makes the Dems look foolish in the big scheme of things. Besty Ross/American flag Nikes will be on the market shortly. Why? they made too many not to be sold!

Right business types know exactly how to keep customers happy and idiots looking like idiots!

When people get all fired up over this shit it causes their stock to temporarily dip but then sky rocket... look back when nike signed kaperdi k to nike... 1 week is all it took for their advertisement to work. It got people talking about their product. Do the right thing amd just ignore it. By you all acknowledging this bs youre advertising for nike for free
