To the (curse word ..curse word ..curse word) that stole my little free library-may you (curse word .. curse word..) I hope you really wanted it because the children from the school down the street and the family that used the books to learn English.. will surely miss it...
Today I hate people....
If anyone sees it please let me know!!!
If ya can please repost!!!!
UPDATE...The police investigated and they found out that the Fruitland city manager decided that it wasn’t used enough so he went onto my private property and stole my little private library. The police officer found out that a city of fruitland truck took it away then was able to track down one of the drivers who told him directly that the city manager told him to do this and dispose of the library. So they threw away the library and the books inside. The police officer has reported it stolen and tomorrow I will go press charges.
So be careful of your bikes, scooters or anything else on your lawn that appears that no one is using at the moment because according to the city manager at fruitland, he can just pick it up and throw it away
Another update... received an email from the city manager and he admitted that he had city employees commit the theft but meant no malicious intent -WHAT WAS HIS INTENT THEN???and he was going to TRY and get it back ... even if he goes and gets it from the dump, I can’t imagine what it looks like after being slammed in a front loader, driven around and dumped in the land fill... I am stunned he even admitted to it ! I also asked where were the books that were inside and he had no answer...
Really, you think your going to come on here using mostly curse words, NOT going to happen.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. I was angry. I do apologize. I was totally inappropriate and disrespectful. I let my anger get the best of me.
DeleteI see the town attorney put out a comment saying that the box was on the sidewalk and that yes maybe they should’ve contacted the owner but then in the next sentence stating that they were going to take it and then find the owner because they didn’t know who it belonged to????? I have lived down the street from this family for years and I have walked my daughter to school every day pass their house and used this library! and this library box has never been in the way on the sidewalk ..it been there since they moved in more than a few years ago and it was even painted the same color as their window treatments! So how did they not know who it belong to and if on someones private property how did they think they had a right to take it regardless... what an obscene abuse of power .. this woman has more on her FB page so check it out
ReplyDeleteSolution:
ReplyDelete1. Town returns (in good condition) or replaces the Little Library and fills it with new books
2. Town issues a written apology to the owner
3. Town exercises a little more thought and discretion when approaching a "problem" like this.
The town council needs to chime in on this.
I'm surprised they didn't burn the books.
ReplyDeleteYou keep cheering people who believe they are public masters, not public servants.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sample of what you get.
Keep cheering.
Or load up for the civil war.
You still can pick. For a little while longer.
Who, exactly is cheering?
DeleteNo, solution is chargethe cuty manager with theft and trespassing. City has no rights on your private property.
ReplyDeleteSorry, *charge the city...
ReplyDeleteI got excited.
A city minion (manager?)should have simply knocked on the door and advised that the town request it to be moved. The owner would make a choice to move it approximately a inch or so because the photo clearly shows it's not blocking the sidewalk or even on it. Or, they could place it away from the sidewalk or relocate it. Why can't we just get along neighborly, compromise.
ReplyDeleteSo...you tried to do a good thing, got shafted, mouthed off to the blog, apologized (good for you), and have a legitimate gripe. Press criminal charges, then civil charges, stand up for yourself, and go for the throat. Best of luck to you and please keep us informed. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis is the owner of the box... I didn’t mouth off that is what I actualy said on my FB post - instead of cursing I actually used the word “curse” because I did not want to use curse words... look at my FB post and you will see... joe please make this correction
DeleteEverything wrong with that town and they are worried about a little free library thats an inch on the sidewalk. SMH
ReplyDeleteI guess an inch means a lot to some people........
Who complained? Was it blocking the public way?
ReplyDeleteNot hurting anyone, not being loud and/or obnoxious, just providing a nice neighborhood service and Town Manager really appreciates what this citizen of Fruitland is doing, NOT!! What a shame. Maybe if you had made your free library huge, painted it ugly, charged patrons for books, advertised everywhere all would have been good with it. More of what is wrong with the United States these days. You want more of this crap, vote Bernie Sanders or Cory Booker or Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren, etc., etc., etc. You getting the picture now? MAGA, Go President Trump!!
ReplyDeleteI walk by that corner every weekday morning and that little library was never on the sidewalk, it was on the ladies grass on a little patio stone. That town attorney is high for saying it was. Sounds like some backpedaling for a manager’s screwup! How dare we surfs have something nice!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Town Manager still that retired trooper Psota? Maybe he thought it was a median strip. Can't have signs on MD right of way. Just saying, maybe he forgot where he was.
ReplyDeleteIn my above statement it had to do with the very first comment that came in with a bunch of curse words in it. I rejected that comment but knew the person who sent it in would read it.
ReplyDeleteI am the person who made the first comment with all the cursing that Joe banned. I am responsible for that, not the owner of the little library.
ReplyDeleteFruitland has changed it code enforcement over the years and have cleaned up the city
ReplyDeleteSo instead of actually cleaning something up that is trash or a distraction to the city instead they take away a little free library for the community… Yeah makes sense
DeleteFruitland is an absolute joke of a town. Same town that wanted to tax businesses for having signs on their own private property. This is not a surprise.
ReplyDelete3:36 Umm bull*#!+!
ReplyDeleteCleaned up the city we talk about kids library free books not trash on the street. Think before u talk 🤦🏽♂️
ReplyDeleteIf you think Fruitland is a dirty city you have never been no where!! Also since Lee O has been on council he has changed things up! Just like Culver done for the County
ReplyDeleteSo who is going to pay to have this fixed or replaced? The city manager or the city tax payers?
ReplyDeleteAnd just who was using it to learn English? Illegals? You know it is against the law to give them comfort, of any kind, what so ever? The City Manager can stop you just on that? It was straight out of your mouth.
ReplyDeleteLOL I doubt the owners asked the users of the library their legal status plus RACIST MUCH? because they don’t speak english they are illegal... you are pure ignorance
DeleteI belive the owner said something about someone learning english with the books not that they were illegals.... and no the manger could not stop them for giving books to illegals if they were... where did you go to law school ???
DeleteOwner should sue for violation of their first amendment rights... the city manger and council should be on their knees begging to make this right because if owner sued.. they would win and the city would be paying out some cash
DeleteThat's a bad picture to use to claim it was not on the sidewalk, when it clearly is on a portion of the sidewalk. The city is factually and technically correct! Put it in YOUR YARD, and there would have been no issue with the city. It you look at their ordinances concerning keeping the sidewalks clear of obstructions, that box was clearly in violation. Put the damn box in your yard (or on your porch) and quit blaming the city for your negligence. Someone has to say it, and it might as well be me.
ReplyDeleteSo if they moved it 1/8 of an inch the person would have be ok? Gimme a break.. how about after 3 years they could of asked them to move it 1/8 of an inch and I am sure they would have
DeleteMoved it.. doesn’t account for their
Lack of asking the owner to move it the 1/8 of an inch and the taking it and not letting them know that they took it... it was not a pwrso al item for the family it was a public service... give me a damn break..someone has to say it it might as well be me.
Moral of the story, don’t vote for liberal morons. They hire other liberal morons.
ReplyDeleteSo they remove a little library box by the sidewalk but keep telephone poles in the middle of their sidewalks so we have to walk in the street or on someone's lawn to get around them. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteHe found some raunchy mags in it and did the right thing. You sound silly when you judge. No one can allow X rated magazines to be in a container meant for childrens books. Now do you goobers understand?
ReplyDeleteReally? According to who????I am the lady with the box and there were no “raunchy” magazines in it only childrens books.. not even adult books were placed in this library
