West OC Raids Come After Federal Indictment; Ramadan Held On Fugitive From Justice Warrant
WEST OCEAN CITY — The investigation involving the execution of a search and seizure warrant at residences in West Ocean City early Thursday morning is still active, but a few more details have trickled out Thursday.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesperson on Thursday afternoon confirmed federal ICE and Homeland Security (HSI) officials, assisted by other federal and local law enforcement partners on Thursday morning, executed a search and seizure warrant in the Ocean City area as a result of a federal indictment being issued. The residences at which the search and seizure warrant was served is located in the Oyster Harbor community in West Ocean City.
A similar raid was conducted at the same residences in 2013 and resulted in the indictment and eventual conviction of two local men — Basel Ramadan and Samer Ramadan — in a vast cigarette smuggling and money laundering operation. In 2015, Basel Ramadan, who was deemed the ringleader of the operation, was found guilty on all 198 counts against him including enterprise corruption, money laundering and numerous tax crimes.

Basel Ramadan was facing 4 to 12 years when he was sentenced in 2015. WTH is he doing out of jail already? I looked on case search and he has another dozen cases listed. He should still be behind bars!

ReplyDeleteAgreed, and wasn't Rod Rosenstein the MD district attorney then?
Is it just me or are most criminal activities somehow involving a minority. Yup, diversity is a strength alright.
ReplyDeleteHe made a sweetheart deal and the money laundering is continuing. Financing multiple properties in Wicomico and Somerset Counties. More than $69million was missing before the previous raid from smuggling cigarettes. This is our money folks.
ReplyDeleteWe need to know #1-How much time he gets, and #2-When he is released.Activities such as those described pose a threat to society,so we need to be apprised.
ReplyDeleteAre these the same people who got caught dealing counterfeit sports gear on the boardwalk and garbage bags full of cash stashed in their house? They also had a Subway sandwich shop on Coastal Hwy.
ReplyDeleteWho says crime doesn't pay?
Dave T: I've had some run ins with the Ramadan clan. Looks like they're trying to push the limits with the endeavors to help support international terrorism. The rest of my comments about the "Ramadans" are not fit for public display.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this related to running cigarettes? It is a criminal Enterprise born from a criminally high tax on cigarettes. Prohibition and extreme taxation create black markets and with them crime. Pretty sure I went to school with a member of the family who was a good person. The worst criminals in the country will be on the ballot this November.
ReplyDeleteMuslims sending $$$$$$$ to terrorism ?
ReplyDeleteWait a minute. Wasn't a Mini Storage in Delaware involved in the cigarette caper? There was a Delmar based Mini Storage owner arrested when they raided the Harrison farm recently. Same Mini Storage?
ReplyDeleteDeport them, but first seize their assets.
ReplyDeleteOpen borders baby.....this is what it gets ya!! TRUMP 2020! BUILD THAT DAMN WALL!!
ReplyDeleteI met their Dad once. Talked to him for an hour or so. In 66 years, I've met some very bad people. He was, by far, the scariest person I've ever met.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet u talked to him for an HOUR ?
Deleteif crime didn't pay our government would be out of business!
ReplyDeleteWait till we find out he was on the government payroll hence the sweetheart deals!
They should be deported to whatever shi***le country they came from.
ReplyDeleteThey were all born in America
Delete🤣🤣🤣
DeleteThey are all over our country thanks to the liberal socialists who think we should have no borders or walls. Obama allowed it and now we are stuck with them.
ReplyDeleteBuild the wall. #MAGA
ReplyDeleteThey're Palestinians. What really gets me is all the regular local folks going in and out of their many businesses, spending local money of which a portion goes back to Palestine. They don't build schools or hospitals or infrastructure there; they spend almost every dollar they get on weapons of war.
ReplyDeleteWhat are their businesses?
DeleteHe got out EARLY he is a INFORMANT.
ReplyDelete311: I'm intrigued. What was it about him that was so unnerving?
ReplyDeleteBasel "Sal" Ramadan came to the conclusion that homeland Security would give him a sweet deal to serve less than 2 years if he would give them info regarding persons in Pakistan. Let's just say it went like this "Well they all meet at "put a terrorist name here" every other week! Black Ops gets drone footage and positive ID followed by a precision strike and said group of terrorist are turned into mist!
ReplyDeleteIn addition Sal owes considerable monies to a select group of $$$ lenders on the Shore and I don't mean banks! Know much more, but not going into details

ReplyDeleteIt was the New York Supreme Court that sentenced him.

And who was the States Attorney back then, was it Oglesby?
His last case was federal, just like his new case. Doesn't matter who the states attorney was.
DeleteThe money can be traced to the Mosque in Princess Anne - Islamic society of Princess Anne. Stolen tax dollars being used to take over Somerset County.
ReplyDeleteevidence of the missing $68 million could trace at least $80,000 to land deals in Princess Anne. The Ramadan's had links to the one-eyed sheik who bombed the NY World Trade Center prior to 911. Despite this being reported to the FBI during the Obama administration, it was ignored. Thank you President Trump for taking action against these terrorists working in plain site.
ReplyDeletesee this all the time with these guys and the government's hands are all over it. probably was trying to play each other, him the government and the government him, guess who wins and who loses in that scenario?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the other businesses the family owned were a front to cover the income from the cigarette running. That said, nearly every business in OC is a money laundering front. Do you think a Sunsations on every block, paying OC rent rates and selling nothing over $5 can be profitable?! They are hasidic Jews. The impression that this is the wild west and we have no laws extends to a select few in EVERY group. The laws don't get enforced though because the OC politicians are the landowners who are collecting sky high rents from the money launderers. This family just doesn't have the connections to go untouched like all the others.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows the sunsations family and empire is the exact same thing. And who is their agent in the real estate world, none other than tricky Ricky Meahan, can't make this up.
