Some Call It Lipstick On A Pig

This year's Community Development Block Grant awardees, MoJo's, Riverview Commons LLC, Deadstock SBY, and 212 E. Main St. LLC! These businesses have been awarded CDBG funds for the beautification and improvement of their storefronts and building facades.

  1. Had to reimburse them for the road closure.

  2. I mean, why can't the businesses, you know...pay for their own storefront improvements? If business is booming downtown, 5K a piece would be no big deal for those businesses to come up with through their operations.

  3. What a waste of money, must be nice to be part of the good ole boys to be able to get tax payer money to fix up your private business, even though Market street makes good money to be able to pay for it on their own, YES I KNOW IT SAYS GRANT, but you clowns clearly don't know how grants work and what things the city has to do or will have to do to get that grant...

Just like with those cops they hired with grant money, well that ran out in two years and who was left footing the pay check of those officers hired under the grant, tax payers!!!!

  6. Jakey owes them a hell of a lot more money than that for his bungling of downtown work! Caribbean Flavor should get $250,000!

Such a failure, he can't even convince his daddy to stay in Salisbury

    1. Bobby Newport is a likeable character. Salisbury is now 18 yr old Mayor, Ben Wyatt's Ice Town.

  16. Drew Davis at Deadstock works incredibly hard for the Salisbury community. I am delighted to hear that his business and the others have received the grant money.

  17. Beautification project? First step is to airbrush the knuckle head standing on the right out of the picture. Second step is to choose another mayor.

  18. 9:35 are you serious you must be Drew himself. A complete fraud... better think before you comment too Drew, unbelievable.

  19. more reason to never go downtown and patronize any business stupid enough to open there. let alone be supported by this clown with taxpayer money!

  20. 935-Andrew went from selling drugs, to having a front for his drug sales. Funny how the demographics between his two "businesses" are so aligned. Nothing to see here, don't check his MD court case search. His intent to distribute happened once, twice, three, four times? I know he's distributing more than shoes at Deadstock.

  22. Not sure I would want to eat there if she is an example of what I will look like after eating there.

  23. Maybe fruitland can give every business 5000 to redo their storefront.

  24. 50K down the drain.......Im sure the tax payers would have liked to keep that money to improve their own homes.

  25. People are bashing "tax money" and have no clue what tax money they are talking about. This is federal grant money. Blame the federal government on this one if you don't like it.

    Do you mean paid firemen?

  27. I ate a Mojo's last night and the food was nasty. The back of pizza was burnt and what I thought was a piece of burnt crust in the sauce was actually a dead fly cooked on top of it. Not only that there wasn't any soap in the bathroom so I know the employees weren't washing their hands.

    Nasty, do not eat there.

  28. Jake is a dead ringer for Obama in that pic. A tad less eyebrow and a sprinkle of gray and it's him. The one on the far right kinda resembles Michelle

    1. Do you want to have some civil conversation or do you want to stoop? I'm more aware of the source of this funding than your closed mind would ever give credit. You are eating right out of their hands while the government subsidies go to every business you love and patronize. If you really cared where the majority of your federal tax money was spent you would know these types of programs amount to pennies in comparison to corporate subsidies. Just be mad. At least you are good at it. Let the emotion of anger flow over you. Change the system. Being mad at people who play the game solves absolutely nothing. It further divides the ones who agree the system needs to change.
