ReplyDeleteDemocrat Politians in MD wanted this type of system now that ECI got more lenient every year since they open they don't like it. So ECI "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW"
ReplyDeleteNot much the COs can do without severe punishment including termination. The union is suppose to be their voice.
ReplyDeleteThis is not political. This is about good people, less more than bad people who chose a career for themselves and their family. Being a correctional officers is a field mist ordinary either won't do, capable of doing or afraid to do. This profession is for folks who want to guide and shape others folks who have given up on life and think selfishly the only road they choice to take is breaking every GOD commandments they break for self satisfaction. We try to help liars, thieves, murderers, rapist, child molesters, drug addicts, alcoholics, child abusers and neglectors, animal abusers and neglectors, homeless, mental health and medical group or anyone who is considered indigent and not part of society who where thrown out amongst the wolves by even their own families. Correctional Officers are babysitters to a bunch of grown azz adults men and women in all reality just don't give a s#&t. Correctional Officers are the last hope for decency for mankind. When police officers drop these folk off at a detention center, Correctional Officers feel the blant of anger these folks experience outside our walls. Before anyone can place blame and feel a Correctional Officers should be ashame of their profession, you try to become us. This job remains me of a fully and functional land fill of people. This the most dangerous job I've ever had and it put food on my families table for neay twenty five years. When a person needs a job, they will do the work honorably. Every job have employees that work and act on the dark side. They will get caught eventually such as the disgraceful employees at E.C.I. They only group in corrections that should be ashame are the upper echelons who don't stand up, fight for their loyal Correctional Officers and the politicians eho created such a hostile environment and corruptible that would aloud something like this to happen. I truly miss being a Correctional Officers and will continue to pray for those who are in this field hoping the changes needed will come. Majority of Correctional Officers are honorable hard working people.

ReplyDeleteIsn't really a political thing. It was all fine, whoever the governor was, until Hogan put his people in place. They used to hire more people in 1 year than they have the last 3 years combined. And even so, Hogan could have fired his people when he realized they were too dumb to stop doing the polygraph. How are you going to have a polygraph for a job nobody wants to do? All CO's, including myself, wanted to do something else, but were forced into this job by the economy. I have a bachelor's degree for crying out loud, but it's not worth a damn thing.

I feel bad for those men and women who work there now.
Problem is the Administration and ignorant Supervisors they promoted. This BS with a polygraph has just begun in the last few years. The Administration from HGTs down to the Wardens was instituted to cover their asses so they thought. Now you have more corruption than when I was a Correctional Officer. Just another excuse they can use to deny someone or for them to manipulate to cover their incompetent asses. A main problem has grown worst at ECI since they only promoted their buddies, affirmative action, females or ass kissers. They know nothing and they pacify the convicts so they will not have to show their ignorance in writing reports or solving problems. That is facts. That is why I retired 12 years ago. I seen it becoming out of control and thank my lucky stars I left when I did. I was having higher ranks asking me a SGT how to handle situations. I told them to kiss off.

Too bad for us, County Commissioners are still throwing Somerset residents under the bus by granting outsiders exemption from fees and taxes that longtime residents have to pay. County documents show Randy Laird has granted outsiders reprieves from fees on the backs of locals; the very people who entrusted him to look out for their interest. Documents are available upon request at the county office complex. County Times-June 13-page 6.

I say we let all the inmates out and send them to 2:22s and 5:51s address! 5:51 you will be sucking more than sewage from a septic tank when Maryland's worst show up on your doorstep!!!

DeleteIts amazing how people use an actual crisis involving human beings, and turn it into a chance to bring up failed careers and bitter memories (Anonymous at 7:47 PM), and political grudges decades old (Anonymous at 8:26 p.m.) There are in-fact great supervisors at ECI, who after surviving that meat grinder could supervise anywhere on earth; standing on their heads...

ReplyDeleteWhat do you do for a living? These brave men and women risk their lives every day to protect the rest of us. I have the privilege of knowing alot of police officers and correctional officers and I'm a very strong supporter of both. So unless you have the courage that they do please don't devalue what they have chosen as a career. Our safety and the people that provide that for us can never be overrated
