Acid attacks in Britain's capital are soaring to new heights, new data reveals.
A Freedom of Information request submitted by the Mirror shows that between 2011 and 2016, London had nearly 1,500 cases of the devastating crime, which burns the skin and leaves victims cowering from their injuries.
In the long term, the scale of the injuries are so scarring that victims can often suffer serious psychological damage as a result of the attacks.
Last year alone, there were 431 such acid attacks – a rise of 170 cases from the year prior.

These are the 138 JCPenney stores that will close this year (Easton store closing)
JC Penney on Friday released a list of the 138 stores it plans to shutter as part of a campaign to reduce corporate costs and increase sales at popular locations.
Macy's and Sears also announced major closures this year, as more Americans abandon brick-and-mortar chains and opt for shopping online at sites like Amazon.
"We believe closing stores will also allow us to adjust our business to effectively compete against the growing threat of online retailers," said Marvin R. Ellison, chairman and CEO of JCPenney in a statement last month. "Maintaining a large store base gives us a competitive advantage in the evolving retail landscape since our physical stores are a destination for personalized beauty offerings, a broad array of special sizes, affordable private brands and quality home goods and services."

Schumer Voted for Wall in 2006 but Threatens Gov’t Shutdown over Funding Trump’s Wall
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and several other Democrats sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Monday threatening a government shutdown in April if Congress approves funding for President Donald Trump’s border wall.
However, in 2006, Schumer, along with 25 other Democrats, voted for President George W. Bush’s Secure Fence Act, which built 700 miles (1,000 km) of a protective barrier between the United States-Mexico border.
Part of the letter Schumer and other Democrats sent to McConnell read, “We believe it would be inappropriate to insist on the inclusion of (wall) funding in a must-pass appropriations bill that is needed for the Republican majority in control of the Congress to avert a government shutdown so early in President Trump’s administration.”
“If Republicans insist on inserting poison pill riders such as defunding Planned Parenthood, building a border wall, or starting a deportation force, they will be shutting down the government and delivering a severe blow to our economy,” the letter continued.

What happens when you don't use a toilet seat cover?
There's a certain comfort in the toilet seat cover, the tissue-thin layer of grace between your bare behind and a piece of cold, dirty plastic. But what happens if you forgo the cover, boldly plopping down on a surface crawling with who knows what?
Probably nothing, according to public health experts. Seat covers do not stop germs, they said, and you're not likely to catch an infection from a toilet, anyway.
Toilet seat covers are absorbent and bacteria and viruses are tiny, able to pass through the relatively large holes in the cover's paper, said Kelly Reynolds, a public health researcher at the University of Arizona. That means they don't stop the spread of germs, she said, but the risk of germ transmission from your skin touching a toilet seat is unlikely in the first place.

PELOSI Slams ‘stupid economy’, repeats words, bursts into laughter
We asked this a few weeks ago, but seriously, is something wrong with Nancy Pelosi?
During a press conference today in which she set out to attack President Trump’s budget outline, she slammed the “stupid economy” as she criticized proposed cuts to federal education programs..
“More than $9 billion cut from education,” Pelosi told reporters.
“Now remember this: Nothing brings more money to the treasury than investment in education. So when Republicans say ‘We need to reduce the deficit and therefore we must cut education,’ that is a stupid economy because, again, nothing,” she said, pausing briefly before the memorized talking point kicked in, and continuing, “brings more money to the treasury to reduce the deficit than the education of the American people.”
Later, she repeated words like a muttering bum..

Cambridge Man Permanently Banned from Oyster Harvesting
An oysterman lost his license, a deer poacher was sentenced under a new state law, and a man accused of stealing state park passes and waterfowl hunting stamps was arrested in recent cases handled by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
A Cambridge man with a history of natural resources violations has been permanently banned from harvesting oysters by an administrative law judge.
Todd Hamilton Ruark, 36, was cited by officers for power dredging in a hand tong-only area of the Tred Avon River Dec. 13, and again Dec. 19.
At a revocation hearing earlier this month, Ruark claimed he unintentionally violated the hand-tong boundary when strong tides pushed his workboat into the reserved area. He told Judge Thomas Welshko that he deserved leniency because he had not encroached very far into the hand-tong area.
After hearing from the officers and watching the video they, the judge disagreed. He called Ruark’s testimony not credible and noted that he was caught more than a football field-length inside the restricted area. The water, he noted, was calm.
“I conclude that on both dates, [Ruark] knew where the hand tong-only line was an intentionally crossed it to harvest oysters using a power dredge,” Welshko wrote in his ruling.
In December, Ruark was charged with nine additional violations stemming from illegal oyster harvesting. He was issued citations for: exceeding his daily catch limit by three bushels; harvesting oysters after hours; possessing untagged oysters; four counts of failing to store oysters in the proper containers; selling oysters on the internet without a dealer’s license; and selling oysters without a state health certificate.
He failed to appear Thursday in Talbot County District Court.
Judicial Watch Files Supreme Court Brief Supporting Ohio’s Right to Clean Voter Rolls
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch has announced that it filed an amicus curiae brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Ohio’s efforts to ensure that its voter rolls are up to date. The case is on appeal from the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which held Ohio’s process is in violation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) (Jon Husted, Ohio Secretary of State v. Philip Randolph Institute, et al. (No. 16-980)).
In filing its amicus brief in support of Ohio’s voter registration law, Judicial Watch argued that the Sixth Circuit’s 2-1 ruling would undermine the 2014 settlement agreement between Judicial Watch and its litigation partner, True the Vote, and the State of Ohio (Judicial Watch and True the Vote v. Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted (No. 2:12-cv-00792)).
The settlement agreement required Ohio to contact inactive voters every year to confirm they had not moved or died, as one of many steps to fulfill Ohio’s voter list maintenance obligations under the NVRA. In that lawsuit, Judicial Watch and True the Vote alleged violations of the NVRA by the State of Ohio.
In its amicus brief to the Supreme Court, Judicial Watch argues that in preventing Ohio from cleaning its voter rolls, the lower court “inverted the plain meaning” of the federal voter list integrity law. Judicial Watch contends that Ohio should be permitted to continue its process of “sending of a statutory confirmation notice to any registrant that has not had any voting-related activity for two years.”

Very Fake News: CNN Claims Sean Hannity ‘Pulled Gun’ on Juan Williams After ‘Argument’
The fake news establishment media at CNN is at it again. Now they are attacking Fox News host Sean Hannity, smearing his reputation with a phony story about him allegedly pointing a gun at liberal Fox News contributor Juan Williams.
Dylan Byers, one of the media writers at CNN who works for media industry defender Brian Stelter, printed a story on Thursday alleging: “Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams.” Byers cited “three sources with knowledge of the incident” to make the claim.
“He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams’ body,” Byers wrote, adding in parentheses: “Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.”
Byers added in the next paragraph that the alleged incident was investigated, and it was determined nothing bad happened.

DOJ To Appeal Latest Setback For Trump Travel Ban
(WASHINGTON) -- The Justice Department announced today it will appeal a federal judge’s ruling that blocked federal agencies from enforcing certain parts of President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban.
"The Department of Justice strongly disagrees with the Maryland federal district court’s ruling, and looks forward to defending the President’s Executive Order seeking to protect our Nation’s security,” a DOJ spokesperson told ABC News.
The move comes just one day after the federal judge in Maryland issued a nationwide preliminary injunction on one part of Trump's revised ban -- the section that imposes the 90-day pause on the issuance of visas to citizens of six Muslim-majority countries included in the executive order. U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang ruled that the plaintiffs had standing and a likelihood of success on the merits of their claims, including claims that the executive order discriminated on the basis of religion.
The nationwide preliminary injunction will remain in place indefinitely until it is either lifted by the Maryland judge or overturned by a higher court. The Trump administration is appealing the Maryland decision to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

New York State Kills Literacy Test for Teachers: Minority Kids Hardest Hit
Teachers’ unions are cheering the news that New York state education officials have killed off a literacy test which successfully revealed that almost a third of candidate teachers cannot meet eight-grade standards.
Members of the New York state Board of Regents voted on Monday to eliminate the literacy exam which revealed the prospective teachers’ poor reading and writing skills, saying the controversial test is “flawed” and that it puts Latino and African-American teacher applicants at an unfair disadvantage.
Advocates of testing said the decision to kill the literacy test will lower teaching standards, especially for minority students in the city.
“Eliminating the [test just] to increase the number of unqualified, unprepared Black and Latino prospective teachers is the most racist and destructive action taken under the guise of diversifying NY’s teachers,” said Mona Davids, President of the New York City Parents Union, adding:
We, Black and Latino parents, do not want teachers who cannot pass a basic literacy test. We don’t care about the color or race of the teacher, we want highly effective teachers teaching our children.

55 ‘Ghost’ Pots Removed From Bays
OCEAN CITY – The Maryland Coastal Bays Program (MCBP), along with a team of local watermen and volunteers successfully removed dozens of hidden “ghost” crab pots from the waters, in and around the resort area that were either abandoned or lost, causing a danger to several species along with navigation.
The MCBP recently partnered with local watermen and volunteers to remove marine debris with a focus on abandoned crab pots from the local bays. Crabber Skip Maisel, along with first mate Charlie Travers and Assateague Conservation Corps volunteers, spent two days on the water seeking and retrieving abandoned “ghost” crab pots. Fifty-five derelict pots in various stages of deterioration were removed from the water and transported locally for recycling.
Occasionally, a crab pot can become detached from its buoy or forgotten. These lost pots, known as “ghost pots,” are still able to continue catching crabs, fish, and terrapins. Even after the original bait is gone, the pots “re-bait” themselves. As new animals get trapped in the pots and die, they attract others that then become trapped as well. One study estimated that there are 85,000 ghost pots in the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay alone.
Crab pots are lost due to a variety of causes, such as gear conflicts, storm events, or debris catching the pots. However, the majority of crab pots lost in Maryland are due to boat propellers cutting the line. The easiest way to prevent this from occurring is to avoid crab pot marker floats. Not only does hitting a buoy lose the crab pot, but the boat’s props can also be damaged from getting tangled in the line.

Maintenance man acquitted in sex-for-repairs case
BALTIMORE (AP) — After a key witness failed to show up in court, a judge has acquitted an ex-maintenance worker of charges that he demanded sex from a woman in exchange for repairs at a public housing unit in Baltimore.
News outlets report the state’s attorney’s office abandoned the case against 62-year-old Doug Hussy after a woman who had accused Hussy did not appear in court Thursday to testify.
The accusations against Hussy were among several raised by female public housing tenants in 2015 that led to a class-action lawsuit. The city housing authority settled the lawsuit last year for up to $8 million.

Are Collapsing Pensions "About To Bring Hell To America"?
The toxic dollar is bringing hell in a handbasket.
Along with the student loan debt bubble and other major financial factors, the looming pensions crisis is bound to be the death of us all.
Because it’s based on a future promise to pay, it has long been a benefit dangled to solve strikes and union disputes – because, in the end, it is just more debt, whether private or public.
With tens of trillions in unfunded liabilities, the weight of an avalanche remains dangling over our heads. An aging population is cashing in on needed retirement benefits while the younger generations must support multiples that are unsustainable financially.
Somewhere between the retiree that needs clothing, food and lodging, and the bankruptcy of cities and state governments is the makings of the next economic crisis.
via AgainstCronyCapitalism.org:
This is one of those things that few will pay attention to until it’s a 5 alarm fire. Then the policymakers will run around with their hands in the air saying they didn’t see it coming.
Of course they did. But addressing the problem is hard and will make people unhappy in the short term.
This blog pointed out the sad, and quiet fact that entities like the government of South Carolina are deep in debt over pensions. Everywhere there are failing social systems.
And somewhere, the rubber is going to met the road, and people are going to get hurt.

Maryland: Multiple Gun-Bills on the Move in the Legislature
On Monday, March 20, the Maryland Senate is scheduled to consider Senate Bill 946. It is important that NRA members and Second Amendment supporters contact their state Senator and politely urge them to support committee amendments to SB 946.
Senate Bill 946, an anti-gun bill sponsored by Senator Smith, creates a federally prohibitive criminal penalty for the possession of a firearm on a college campus in Maryland. Those with wear and carry permits do not present a threat to public safety, as they are one of the most law-abiding segments of the population. Current law already allows each university to set its own policy regarding the carrying or possession of firearms. This legislation is a blanket prohibition that disallows schools from using discretion on their campus.
Municipalities Seek Greater Share Of Casino Revenue
SNOW HILL- Snow Hill Mayor Charlie Dorman made a plea for video lottery funding as he approached county officials with his town’s annual budget request last week.
Dorman told the Worcester County Commissioners Snow Hill was seeking its usual $450,000 grant from the county for fiscal year 2018, but again advocated for Snow Hill and Pocomoke to receive some of the slots revenue associated with the Casino at Ocean Downs.
“Just give Snow Hill and Pocomoke 1 percent,” Dorman said. “One percent would help.”
He told the commissioners the town’s activity was beginning to increase, as seven new businesses had opened since 2015 and four more were underway.
“Some of you might think we’re a lost cause but we’re not,” he said.

Meals on Wheels' donations, volunteer sign-ups soar after Trump eyes cuts
Meals on Wheels received 50 times the typical amount of daily donations on Thursday after the White House proposed cuts to some of the program's sources of funding, a spokesperson for the group said.
Volunteer sign-ups also jumped, increasing by 500 percent, according to Jenny Bertolette, a spokeswoman for Meals on Wheels America.
Bertolette said the support to the national Meals on Wheels office has been "amazing" and "very overwhelming."
She said local programs raise funds individually, but she theorized that "there was likely a groundswell of local support, as well."

Teen finds 7.44 carat diamond in an Arkansas state park
A teenager has found a 7.44 carat diamond at a state park in southwest Arkansas.
Kalel Langford was visiting Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro when he found the rock by a stream on Saturday.
The 14-year-old was in town with his parents for a baseball tournament when he found the diamond, which has been registered as the seventh largest found in the park since it was established in 1972.
An 8.52-carat diamond that was found in the same park in 2015 was estimated to be sold for $1 million last month, but the park hasn't given an estimate for Kalel's diamond, which is only one carat smaller.

These Banks Will Now Charge You A 4.00% Prime Rate
One of Janet Yellen's stated reasons behind the Fed's rate hike has been to reward savers with a slightly higher rate of interest on their deposits: after all, for nearly a decade the interest collected by depositors across US banks, with a few exceptions, has been 0.0% or thereabout. Unfortunately, as noted yesterday, even with the Fed Funds rate now the highest it has been in a decade at 0.75%-1.00%, that does not mean that any bank will be hard pressed to compete for America's savings - with some $2.1 trillion in excess reserves still out there, and with many banks shutting down "unprofitable" accounts, quite the contrary - and as such, the unspoken message in yesterday's rate hike is that savers are, once again, screwed.
However, while most banks are in no rush to pay savers and depositors more, or anything for that matter, they wasted no time in piggybacking on the Fed's rate hike by boosting their own Prime Rate, the interest that banks charge their most credit-worthy customers. To be sure, the vast majority of borrowers pay vastly higher interest rates, but Prime - like Libor - serves as the floating benchmark for many, if not most now that Libor is defunct, outstanding secured and unsecured loans, including credit cards and mortgages.
It is those borrowers who may be interested to know that as overnight, virtually every bank has now increased its Prime rate from 3.75% (where it was after the December rate hike) to 4.00%, oh and they have no obligations to notify debtors of the increase
Among the banks who have announced an increase in their Prime rate are the following:
Bank of America
BBVA Compass
BB&T
BMO Harris Bank
BNY Mellon
Citibank
Citizens Financial
Fifth-Third Bancorp
JPMorgan Chase
KeyCorp
M&T Bank
PNC Bank
Regions Bank
SunTrust
US Bank
Webster Bank
Wells Fargo

US authorities target hotels and motels in fight against sex trafficking
To the thousands of motorists driving along Route 1 in Philadelphia, the Roosevelt Inn looks like any other roadside city motel.
But there, inside a guest room, a 14-year-old girl was "sold into sexual slavery," barred from leaving for months and forced to engage in sex acts with 1,000 men as motel staff looked the other way, according to a new lawsuit.
The suit -- the first of its kind in Pennsylvania -- targets the motel and its owners in seeking civil compensation for the victim, now 17. It also serves as a nationwide warning to hotels and motels knowingly profiting from child sex trafficking, according to lawyers for the girl.
"This lawsuit sends a clear message that you need to police your hallways and you cannot profit from sex trafficking," said Nadeem Bezar, who along with two other lawyers announced the filing of the lawsuit Friday on behalf of the girl, identified as "M.B."

Muslims Demand Boss Allow Hijabs At Work & Courts Have PRICELESS Response
The number of refugees pouring into Europe from the Middle East has increased so rapidly in recent years that Europe is still trying to catch up. While the situation is certainly dire, unprecedented problems and dangers are arising for Europeans who aretrying their best to make sure their families are safe in the midst of so much change.
Recently, the concern has arisen regarding whether or not Muslims should be guaranteed the right to wear a hijab in the workplace. The most recent ruling from the EU court says that employers are ensured the right to prevent their workers from wearing headscarves or hijabs. Many have responded with relief that they can help protect their businesses from potential dangers by being able to control the dress code of their employees without being punished.
This is the first decision made by the courts regarding Islamic clothing, specifically regarding Islamic headscarves.
The court’s official stance included the following, “An internal rule of an undertaking which prohibits the visible wearing of any political, philosophical or religious sign does not constitute direct discrimination.”

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day and read about this fascinating Irish-American
On St. Patrick's Day, we remember Irish contributions to American history. There were presidents (Kennedy and Reagan), authors and movie stars (F. Scott Fitzgerald and James Cagney) and many more.
One figure especially stands out. He was militantly proud of his Celtic heritage. Part hero, part scamp and a whole lot in between, his death could have been an "Unsolved Mysteries" episode.
This is the story of Thomas Francis Meagher, the Irishman's Irishman.
He was born in 1823 in Waterford, Ireland (home of the famous crystal) where his father was mayor. Young Meagher had the gift of Blarney. His silver tongue moved and inspired listeners.

Rand Paul Fires Back at John McCain: 'Past His Prime,' 'A Little Bit Unhinged'
Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reacted to comments from his colleague Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) a day earlier on the Senate floor accusing him of being an agent for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Paul had objected to a unanimous consent motion for legislation to advance Montenegro’s bid to join NATO, to which McCain had attacked Paul.
In his “Morning Joe” appearance, Paul ripped McCain as being “past his prime” and “unhinged,” and then went on to argue questions about NATO deserved more consideration.
You know, I think he makes a really, really strong case for term limits. I think maybe he’s past his prime; I think maybe he’s gotten a little bit unhinged. I do think that when we talk about NATO, there can be a rational discussion about the pros and cons of expanding it. We currently have troops, combat troops, in about six nations. We have troops actively just stationed in probably a couple dozen others. We have a $20 trillion debt. And one of my favorite articles of the last couple years is one that talked about the angry McCains, and if they — if we put active troops and got involved in combat where McCain wants us to be, they put a little angry McCain on the globe, on the map. And it’s virtually everywhere. So his foreign policy is something that would greatly endanger the United States, greatly overextend us. And there has to be the thought whether or not it’s in our national interest to pledge to get involved with a war if Montenegro has an altercation with anyone.

Has The Deep State Begun Its Revenge On Trump?
The Deep State is set to prick the largest bubble in human history today…
The Deep State is the permanently entrenched “national security” bureaucracy - the top tier of the military, the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. It also includes the Federal Reserve, the quintessential Establishment institution.
They all hate President Trump. They did everything possible to stop him from taking office. None of it worked. They fired all of their bullets, but he still wouldn’t go down.
Of course, the Deep State could still try to assassinate Trump. It’s obvious the possibility has crossed his mind. He’s taken the unusual step of supplementing his Secret Service protection with loyal private security.
But for now, anyway, the Deep State’s next move is to pin the coming stock market collapse on Trump. He’s the perfect fall guy.
When people think “Greater Depression,” they’ll think “Donald Trump.”
Right now, the Federal Reserve is the Deep State’s weapon of choice.
The economy has been on life support since the 2008 financial crisis. The Fed has pumped it up with unprecedented amounts of “stimulus.” This has created enormous distortions and misallocations of capital that need to be flushed.
Think of the trillions of dollars in money printing programs, euphemistically called quantitative easing (QE) 1, 2, and 3. Meanwhile, with zero and even negative interest rates in many countries, rates are the lowest they’ve been in 5,000 years of recorded human history.
On top of that, the too-big-to-fail banks are even bigger than they were in 2008. They have more derivatives, and they’re much more dangerous.
If the Deep State wants to trigger a stock market collapse on par with 1929, it just has to pull the plug on the extraordinary life support measures it’s used since the last crisis.
This outcome is already baked in the cake. It’s just a matter of when… and there’s a good chance “when” is today.

Limbaugh: ‘We Are on the Verge of a Genuine Constitutional Crisis’
Friday on his nationally syndicated radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh warned of a coming constitutional crisis should the certain federal judges continue to deny President Donald Trump the ability to institute his policies.
Limbaugh pointed to the precedent set by the federal judiciary’s effort to deny Trump’s travel ban and argued it could lead to other limits on the president’s powers down the road.
"It’s not a legal dispute. This is, as I said yesterday, is a silent coup that is taking place that I’m sure has been strategized since before Trump was inaugurated. "

Resort Officials Consider Repealing City’s Towing Ordinance
OCEAN CITY- A discussion on Tuesday about potentially increasing the towing rates in Ocean City quickly spun around to a larger debate about whether the resort should remain in the towing business at all.
Back in October, a unified group of towing industry representatives approached the Ocean City Police Commission about a proposed across-the-board rate increase in the fee schedule that has been in place for nearly a decade. The town’s code currently sets the maximum rate for a standard tow at $150, a figure that has remained unchanged since 2008, but the local tow companies that work with the town are seeking a graduated, across-the-board hike by as much as 100 percent in some cases.
When the issue was brought before the Police Commission last fall, it was decided to take a closer look at what neighboring jurisdictions in Worcester were doing with their tow rates. What was determined is all of the other jurisdictions in the county follow the state law in terms of setting their towing fees. Ocean City is the only jurisdiction in the county with a towing ordinance on the books, Ocean City Police Department Chief Ross Buzzuro told the Mayor and Council on Tuesday.

Appeals Court Judges Explain Why Donald Trump’s Immigration Order is Legal
The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday voted against rehearing the three-judge panel decision that had affirmed a lower court’s blocking President Donald Trump’s first executive order on immigration from terror-prone nations.
Five conservative judges on the San Francisco-based court dissented from that denial of an en banc rehearing, writing an opinion explaining why their court should reconsider the case.
The dissent by written by Judge Jay Bybee, who began his 26-page dissent by stating, “Whatever we, as individuals, may feel about the President or the Executive Order, the President’s decision was well within the powers of the presidency, and the wisdom of the policy choices made by the President is not a matter for our consideration.”
Bybee quoted a 1950 Supreme Court case which declared, “The exclusion of aliens is a fundamental act of sovereignty.”

Federal judge, this time in Maryland, blocks part of Trump’s revised travel ban order
A federal judge in Maryland on Thursday temporarily blocked part of President Trump’s revised executive order on immigration and refugees, a day after a federal judge in Hawaii issued a temporary restraining order halting enforcement of the entire order.
U.S. District Judge Theodore D. Chuang ruled that the proposed 90-day ban on travel to the United States by nationals of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen was a likely violation of the Constitution and ordered a temporarily halt of enforcement of that portion of the order. He declined to block other parts of the order, including a 120-day pause of all refugee resettlement and a reduction in the number of refugees allowed in the United States this year.
Despite some changes from the original order, “the history of public statements continues to provide a convincing case that the purpose of the Second Executive Order remains the realization of the long-envisioned Muslim ban,” Judge Chuang wrote in his 43-page order issued Thursday morning.
“When President Trump discussed his planned Muslim ban, he described not the preference religious minorities, but the plan to ban the entry of nationals from certain dangerous countries as a means to carry out the Muslim ban,” Judge Chuang wrote. “These statements thus continue to explain the religious purpose behind the travel ban in the Second Executive Order.”
The order came hours after a federal judge in Hawaii on Wednesday issued a temporary restraining order blocking the entire revised order from taking effect.

Maryland Judge Considers Ordering President Donald Trump to Double 50,000 Refugee Inflow
A Federal District Court judge in Maryland is considering whether he should order President Donald Trump to double the annual inflow of refugees up to 100,000 per year.
Any demand by the judge that the federal government airbus an extra 50,000 migrants — including many adherents of Islam’s sharia legal system — into American neighborhoods would be an unusual intervention into government roles normally left to the elected President and Congress.
If actually implemented, Judge Theodore Chuang's plan also would be extremely expensive for Americans, because state and local communities subsidize each new immigrant with roughly $1,600 each per year for decades.
The judge revealed his proposal in a footnote in his March 15 decision where he denounced Trump’s reformist Executive Orders, which sharply curbs the inflow of refugees from war-torn Islamic countries.

Salisbury Festival To Return June 2 Thru 4th
In the past there has been an incredible amount of Police presence, overtime pay and Gangs hanging out throughout the Downtown area. So what's going to be different this go around, nothing.
It never ceases to amaze me how Mayor Jake Day continues to do these "feel good" things but in reality you can't even go to PRMC without multiple people getting assaulted and even raped. Yes, the Mayor is supposed to bring new and exciting things to their communities, I get that. However, with the track record of this particular event it proves Mayor Day does not have the ability to think out of the box and instead chose to simply change the name/title of the same old, same old.
So it begs the question, will you be attending with your children, especially at night?
Idaho boy injured, family dog killed by government 'cyanide bomb'
SALMON, Idaho (Reuters) - A "cyanide bomb" planted by U.S. predator-control agents targeting coyotes near homes and hiking trails in Idaho exploded when a boy handled the device, injuring him and killing his dog, authorities and relatives said on Friday.
Canyon Mansfield, 14, was playing with his yellow Labrador retriever, Casey, on Thursday afternoon near his home east of Pocatello when he saw what he thought was a sprinkler head on the ground and touched the device, causing it to detonate.
The explosion sprayed the boy and his 3-year-old, 90-pound (40 kg) pet with toxic cyanide gas, according to the boy's mother, Theresa Mansfield.
“Canyon said there was a bang like a bomb, then an explosion of an orange substance that covered him and Casey, who was writhing in pain on the ground before he died right in front of Canyon,” she said.

‘After School Satan Club’ Received Fast-Tracked Tax-Exempt Status from IRS
Documents obtained by Judicial Watch show the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) fast-tracked tax-exempt status for an “After School Satan Club” in Tacoma, Washington, while the federal agency was discovered to be either denying conservative and Christian groups the same status or making them wait for years.
According to the watchdog group that uncovered the IRS scandal during the Obama administration, the After School Satan Club at Point Defiance Elementary in Tacoma applied for its tax-exempt status designation on October 21, 2014 and received it only 10 days later on October 31, 2014.
Breitbart News reported in October of 2016 the announcement by the Satanic Temple of Seattle for its proposal of the After School Satan Club in the Point Defiance Elementary school.

Robert Barnes: Trump Could Ignore Interference from Activist Judges
Attorney Robert Barnes joined SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Thursday’s Breitbart News Daily to discuss his latest Breitbart News column, “Hawaii Obama Judge Rules Muslim Imam Has Special Constitutional Rights to Bring Anyone from Terror Countries into America.”
Marlow asked Barnes to begin by explaining why Trump’s temporary ban on various terror countries was blocked.
“The district court judge in Hawaii, who was a fellow law graduate of Harvard law school with former President Obama – and, in fact, Obama was in Hawaii yesterday before the decision was issued, so some people have speculated on the coincidence of that. But he issued a decision that blocks the ability of anybody to enforce the order anywhere,” Barnes said. “So he went beyond just the district of Hawaii. He said no state can enforce it. Nobody in any part of the country can enforce it. Nobody anywhere in the administration can enforce it. He issued what’s called a nationwide injunction, and it precludes any application of the order, pretty much, on any aspect of the order, pretty much, until there’s further review.”
“His basis for doing so was an extraordinary interpretation of the right to travel and the freedom of association, which before, has only been associated with U.S. citizens,” Barnes continued. “Every court decision in the 200 years prior to this has said that people who are not citizens of the United States, who are not present within the United States, have no First Amendment constitutional rights.."

School wants parents to take responsibility
It's a timeless question: where do a school's responsibilities begin, and where do they end?
This is especially relevant when considering where to draw the line between what constitutes parents' responsibilities and a school's.
A Portuguese school decided to clarify the matter once and for all, by sticking a poster in its halls- and the message they're sending is now spreading like wildfire.

About a dozen arrested at Maryland State House in anti-fracking demonstration
About a dozen activists were arrested Thursday morning for blocking an entrance to the State House during a demonstration against fracking.
Dozens of people stood in front of the State House steps, holding anti-fracking signs and singing, "We shall not be moved." Then, a smaller group moved in front of an entranceway into the ground floor of the State House and didn't move.
Lt. Rebecca Labs of the Maryland Capitol Police warned the smaller group that they needed to move or would be arrested. About a minute later, police officers who were standing by watching placed demonstrators into flex-cuffs and loaded them into a police van and an SUV.
Labs said police arrested 11 people. Food and Water Watch, an advocacy group that helped organize the protest, said 13 were arrested.

Sign the Petition - Tell Senator Mathias To Support Our Small Businesses!
Last week Senator Jim Mathias voted in favor of Senate Bill 230.
Fellow Democratic members have said the bill will "hurt small businesses" and that "businesses may be forced to layoff employees or close." He also voted against compromise amendments offered by Democratic Senators Brochin and Zirkin that would have improved the bill. The bill was so bad that four Democratic State Senators joined all Republicans in voting against it.

WUT: College Student Explains Why Milk Is Racist
Nothing is sacred anymore. While it does not surprise anyone that the Left says white girls cannot wear hoop earrings and that fraternities must admit women in defiance to the exceptions to Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, nothing can logically explain an opinion piece claiming that milk is racist.
Samantha Diaz, a staff writer for California State University-Long Beach's student newspaper The Daily 49er, wrote an article claiming that white supremacists and neo-Nazis are appropriating milk as a symbol of hate. Here is the hook to her article:
When you think of milk, what first comes to your mind? If you’re a millennial, you probably think of strong bones, Got Milk? commercials, or maybe eating your favorite cereal while watching cartoons on a Saturday morning.
What about racism? White nationalism? If you’re having trouble finding the connection between these institutions and milk, you’re not alone. You, along with the rest of the nation, have been so accustomed to hearing the benefits of milk that you probably didn’t even realize the subtle racism hidden in our health facts.

What about racism? White nationalism? If you’re having trouble finding the connection between these institutions and milk, you’re not alone. You, along with the rest of the nation, have been so accustomed to hearing the benefits of milk that you probably didn’t even realize the subtle racism hidden in our health facts.

Ibuprofen linked to increased risk of cardiac arrest
Common painkillers, including ibuprofen, increase a person’s risk of cardiac arrest by a third, experts have warned.
The drugs should not be sold in supermarkets or petrol stations, and should only be available on prescription, they said.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as a group were linked to a 31 percent increased risk of cardiac arrest.
But, ibuprofen – the most common NSAID – increased that risk by a staggering 50 percent.

LEGENDARY COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER
A Most Remarkable Woman
I have in my possession what I call “a poor woman’s cameo”. It is not made of finely carved stone but is made of celluloid. Depending on how you view it, it can be the silhouette of a woman or a flower. It does not hang from a fine gold or silver chain, but is adorned with only a simple ribbon. This was the best piece of jewelry my grandmother had at the turn of the 20th century. It clearly defines how she lived her entire life - very simple.
As all adolescents try various means of attracting attention, one attribute that God gave my grandmother was ample cleavage. Her mother always made her put a handkerchief under her dress to hide anything revealing when she went out. She confided to my sister one time that the handkerchief was quickly removed upon exiting the stern view of her mother.
She never learned to drive a car; she never was in an airplane. Her formal education ended after the third grade. But for all the shortages of adolescent advantages that children have today, she was born with a wisdom that is seldom encountered in this day and age.
As she got on in life and could afford it, she always bought two pairs of shoes at a time. One was for when she got dressed in the morning and the second was utilized after her noontime nap. The second pair was a half-size larger to allow for the normal swelling that would occur during the day. I have never heard of anyone else doing this.
When she weeded her garden, she always shook the weed before casting it in the driveway for later pick-up. I asked her about this one time, and she said she could grow more weeds but she could not grow more dirt; therefore she saved it.
The only thing I have from her house is one of those small “pinked edge” signs that were sold in souvenir shops of the day. It is still on my computer as the screen-saver. It is a motto to live by – “Happiness is liking what you’re doing – not doing what you like.” You would think that when she finally passed in 1986 at 98 years old, she would have a house full of antiques. She had none. All her life, she replaced anything old with something new when she could afford it. She had absolutely no sentimentality about anything. She told me one time that there are two things that you should never do – cry or worry – because neither one of them ever solved a damned thing. Think about it!
I asked her one time when she was in her early nineties what was her formula for life. She always seemed to have everything under control. Her reply was, “I sleep when I’m tired, I eat when I’m hungry and I do something when I damn well feel like it”.
She was deaf for the last 60 years of her life. When I inquired of her one time if that bothered her she said it didn’t because people don’t have much to say anyway and, if it was that important, they would put it in the newspaper. Watching television with her was quite an experience. She never had the sound on and, due to the fact that color TV would “give you cancer”, she only watched it in black and white. Yet, she could tell from the expressions of the actors or newscasters just what was going on.
This was my grandmother – one of the most remarkable women I have ever known.
Brazile admits she forwarded debate questions to Clinton camp
Former interim Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile admitted Friday that she forwarded Democratic primary debate questions to members of Hillary Clinton's campaign – something she had previously denied.
In an essay for Time published Friday, called “Russian DNC Narrative Played Out Exactly As They Hoped,” the Democratic strategist said she had in fact passed on topics, despite saying she had not when her communications with the campaign were leaked by WikiLeaks in October.
“[I]n October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C. Vice Chair prior to assuming the interim D.N.C. Chair position was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign,” she wrote.
In October, emails from Clinton campaign Chair John Podesta's account were released by WikiLeaks showing that Brazile – then a CNN contributor – had forwarded questions ahead of a March primary debate.

Dinosaur Warmonger John McCain Says Rand Paul is Working for Putin
Ever since Trump took the White House, the establishment has been dredging up old Russophobic fears to attack anyone who doesn’t toe the party line. It seems like anyone in power who offers a different opinion, is immediately labeled a Russian agent, and accused of having ties to Putin. These accusations are now being thrown around so flippantly that they are losing their power and meaning.
Take for instance what recently happened on the Senate floor between Rand Paul and John McCain. While McCain was arguing in favor of letting the nation of Montenegro join NATO, which obviously would stoke more tensions between the US and Russia, he criticized Senator Paul for not backing the bill by saying that “You are achieving the objectives of Vladimir Putin,” and that if anyone opposes the bill, “they are now carrying out the desires and ambitions of Vladimir Putin and I do not say that lightly.”
Rand Paul responded by raising an objection, and leaving the room without saying a word. McCain then doubled down on his hysterical rhetoric. “The only conclusion you can draw when he walks away is he has no argument to be made. He has no justification for his objection to having a small nation be part of NATO that is under assault from the Russians. So I repeat again, the senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin.”

Lawmakers warn judges ruling on travel bans against exceeding power
This week’s rulings against President Trump’s revised executive order on travel and refugees have sparked heated pushback from Republicans on Capitol Hill, who say judges have crossed the line to become adversaries of this White House — and suggested retribution could be coming.
Even some judges seemed worried about the tenor of recent rulings, saying their colleagues appeared to be letting personal beliefs taint their legal reasoning.
“As tempting as it is to use the judicial power to balance those competing interests as we see fit, we cannot let our personal inclinations get ahead of important, overarching principles about who gets to make decisions in our democracy,” Judge Jay Bybee, of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, wrote in a dissent Wednesday. He said his colleagues erred in not agreeing to rehear Mr. Trump’s defense of his original executive order.

Drug abusers have more tooth decay than general public
Being addicted to drugs causes tooth decay, new research confirms.
On average, those with cocaine and cannabis habits had about 3.5 less teeth, the study found.
Adults who regularly used the latter snacked more often and eroded their own teeth, scientists claim.
While some narcotics - including cocaine - caused chemical deterioration when applied to the teeth or gums.
Addicts of both would also clench and grind their teeth, another known risk factor of tooth decay.
A team of Australian researchers combined the results of 28 previous dental studies from around the world.
The study included data of 4,086 patients with known substance use disorders of various drugs.

· Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies
· Homeland Security

Big Government Republicans Rebuke Trump Budget
“In particular, the Appalachian Regional Commission has a long-standing history of bipartisan support in Congress because of its proven ability to help reduce poverty rates and extend basic necessities to communities across the Appalachian region,” he said. “Today, nearly everyone in the region has access to clean water and sewer, the workforce is diversifying, educational opportunities are improving, and rural technology is finally advancing to 21st Century standards.
“We will certainly review this budget proposal, but Congress ultimately has the power of the purse. As the full budget picture emerges in the coming weeks, I am optimistic that we can work with the Administration to responsibly fund the federal government, including those agencies which serve as vital economic lifelines in rural parts of the country that are still working to overcome substantial challenges.

The Real World of Obamacare Repeal
WASHINGTON — The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, but for governments it’s not that easy. Once something is given — say, health insurance coverage to 20 million Americans — you take it away at your peril. This is true for any government benefit, but especially for health care. There’s a reason not one Western democracy with some system of national health care has ever abolished it.
The genius of the left is to keep enlarging the entitlement state by creating new giveaways that are politically impossible to repeal. For 20 years, Republicans railed against the New Deal. Yet, when they came back into office in 1953, Eisenhower didn’t just keep Social Security, he expanded it.
People hated “Obamacare” for its highhandedness, incompetence and cost. At the same time, its crafters took great care to create new beneficiaries and new expectations. Which makes repeal very complicated.
The Congressional Budget Office projects that, under Paul Ryan’s “Obamacare” replacement bill, 24 million will lose insurance within 10 years, 14 million after the first year.

No Four Leaf Clover Is Going To Protect You
PIKESVILLE, MD)— As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, troopers suggest those whose celebrations will include alcohol take time to make the right decision and designate a sober driver.
Based on past experience, Maryland state troopers are anticipating an increase in impaired driving as celebrants will be traveling on St. Patrick’s Day to and from different locations to enjoy festivities throughout the state. With this in mind, Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel William M. Pallozzi, has directed each of the 23 barracks to conduct saturation patrols focusing on impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Additional troopers will be assigned.
“If alcohol is part of your celebration, then driving should not be,” Colonel Pallozzi said. “We will accept no excuses and will have zero tolerance for anyone who elects to jeopardize his or her own safety, as well as the safety of others, by choosing to drive while impaired.”
During March 16-21, 2016, troopers arrested 153 drunk drivers. Driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 is evidence of intoxication and is against the law. A driver under the age of 21, with any measurable alcohol in their system, is in violation of alcohol laws in Maryland.
Troopers at each of the 23 State Police barracks in Maryland will be involved in multiple initiatives from today through March 18th. Initiatives include saturation patrols in areas known to have a higher number of DUI crashes or arrests and sobriety checkpoints, which are also conducted in locations where experience indicates they are most appropriate. The State Police Impaired Driving Effort, or SPIDRE Team, a full-time DUI enforcement squad, will also be on patrol.

Half of college grads earn less now than in 2000
Hiring is up, the unemployment rate is down and wages are growing again. Everyone should be feeling pretty good about the economy, right?
Not so fast. Some groups are still earning lower wages than they were in 2000, when the economy was at the end of the previous economic expansion. During the current recovery, wages are finally growing, yet a new analysis from the Economic Policy Institute highlights how those benefits aren’t being equally shared among all demographic groups.
Among those left behind are lower-earning college-educated workers. The bottom half of college grads earned less in 2016 than they did in 2000, which raises questions about recent conventional wisdom that a bachelor’s degree will provide handsome dividends over time.
That doesn’t mean college-educated workers of all stripes aren’t earning more than their less-educated counterparts -- they are. But the data provides a more nuanced picture of the post-recession economy and the concept of a skills-based market, where more-educated workers are pulling ahead.
“I don’t think it’s a skills story,” said Elise Gould, senior economist at EPI and author of the report. “Even if we look at people with a college degree, the bottom half have lower wages than in 2000. There is a pulling apart at the very top.”

Cancer less likely to develop in people that exercise
It's long been known that exercising can reduce the risk of cancer.
And now scientists believe they have found another reason why - and even say it could pave way for new treatments.
Those who stay fit are better able to process a by-product of running, jogging and pumping iron, research shows.
Lactate – which makes muscles stiffen after exercise – is a key driver of cancer growth and spread, experts claim.
