Last week Senator Jim Mathias voted in favor of Senate Bill 230.
Fellow Democratic members have said the bill will "hurt small businesses" and that "businesses may be forced to layoff employees or close." He also voted against compromise amendments offered by Democratic Senators Brochin and Zirkin that would have improved the bill. The bill was so bad that four Democratic State Senators joined all Republicans in voting against it.
Sign our petition to tell Senator Mathias that voting for SB 230 was unacceptable!

OMG, lay off employees because you have to pay sick time? You people are pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI love coming to work sick and spreading it around, so that my coworkers also get sick and then it costs them money to go to the doctor or have to stay home and my employer is short staffed. I love sitting there sick and doing nothing all day.
You don't wear greedy well, its ugly on you.
I'll sign the petition telling him it's time to leave us alone!
ReplyDeleteAnnapolis has already taken away your property rights, try to build a commercial property on the shore and unless your donating big money to democrats you aint building.
ReplyDeleteVote him out.
ReplyDeleteHe is a useless piece of garbage!!!
ReplyDeleteHe would most likely be reelected due to republicans like him and the democratic precincts in the salisbury area in his gerrymandered district...
ReplyDeleteJust need one democrat to side with the other 4 and the bill fails in the Senate with the veto
ReplyDeleteChamber said Mathias was the reason why the 90 day exemption became 120 and meanwhile the house hadn't done shit.. Could have had the glory of another no vote, but I have to look out for my business and at least Mathis actually did something good to the veto proof bill.

Actually dear you are the pathetic one. Why would you go to work sick? Why would you admit to sitting their and doing nothing if you go in sick.
You must be a pathetic Democrat!
I guess Jimbeau Mathias didn't get a free pass on this one.
ReplyDeleteLook at how G.A.Y. he looks in that picture. I wonder if he and Josh Hastings are still dating?
well i have to agree with this one with Jimbo...not to often i agree with him...Its hard having to go to work when sick and not all sickness is contagious. Yet if i stay home, i cant pay my bills at the end of the month. So sorry i agree a business should give paid sick time off. Now if its a small business of 25 or less employees, this wont affect you. But most of these bigger business can afford to pay their employees and they should. Not only that but if you are sick and don't go to work you also risk your job by not going. Many of you do not realize Md is a "at will state" which means they can fire you or lay you off for no reason what so ever. You can go to work and they lay the boom on you. And yes some use your sickness as a reason to terminate you. So i hope this bill passes. to Protect us when we are sick. Try fighting a real sickness knowing you have to still try to work when going thru some sort of treatments. Its not easy but many are faced with doing exactly that. A very dear friend of mine went thru cancer a few years ago and fought every day to go to work while going thru those cancer treatments in fear of losing their job and being sick they needed that insurance for if you lose your job being sick there goes your healthcare to. So those of you that don't agree with this bill you just stop and think about that. Cancer does NOT discriminate and it could very well hit any of you. Wouldn't you feel better knowing that you can take the time you need to get well without the fear of losing your job or the income in events like this? Think hard about that.
