Breaking News: Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl won't serve time in prison for deserting his base in Afghanistan in 2009. He will be dishonorably discharged.

Sergeant Bergdahl was 23 and a private first class when he walked off his base in eastern Afghanistan in June 2009. Army investigators would later characterize his departure as a delusional effort to hike to a larger base and cause enough of a stir that he would get an audience with a senior officer to report what he felt were problems in his unit.
But the soldier, who is now 31, was captured by the Taliban within hours, and would spend five years as a prisoner, his treatment worsening after every attempt he made to escape.

  1. I hope the Military hierarchy forces this ignorant judge, who let his personal political views determine his ruling, to go to every family that lost a soldier while searching for this POS and explain why Trump had anything to do with this.

  6. So he gets a Military Trial and gets a DISHORRIBLE DISCHARGE why if he didn't get a sentence ? Because he got a pass from the Obama judge.

  7. One of the soldiers who got hurt searching for this traitor should "honorably" discharge his weapon into this punks face.

  8. Obamas legacy. You see, it started with the dsl links (1999). It allowed upgrades to be remote. Once decoupled from Them, it was clear that the TelePrompter-in-chief had to be given Input!

  11. When these judges, whether they are liberal or other, make rulings based on their own personal agenda they should be removed from the bench and disbarred.

  14. Now the family of the marine who lost his life trying to rescue this traitor needs to sue him in civil court.

  15. I have a strange feeling that his days are numbered. Justice will come to him outside of the court marshal.

  19. Military justice system appears to be broken. Crazy major who killed at Ft. Hood and was eventually sentenced to die is still alive. Now a deserter who confessed gets only a dishonorable, bust to private and some reimbursal, plus it's automatic appeal of the dishonorable.

JAG is lawyers who get commissions and accelerated rank. Not much of a reality check.

  20. I think the torture and imprisonment he endured for five years at the hand of the Taliban have certainly punished him enough
