Florida car dealerships parked cars in public garages during Hurricane Irma. People weren’t happy.
Two Florida car dealerships angered residents and college students when they used free shelter parking as their own protected car lots right as Hurricane Irma closed in on the Sunshine State.
In the state capital of Tallahassee, angry Florida State students and locals complained Sunday that they couldn't park in a covered campus garage because the spots were filled with brand new cars from Napleton Infiniti, a local dealership.
The upset motorists filled the company's Yelp page with negative reviews.

That bad press is going to cost the dealer more than what they saved by moving the cars.
ReplyDeleteSo, if the dealer drives it off the lot is it a used car now?? 1/2 price. Lol
ReplyDeleteDid they pay the hourly rate?
ReplyDeleteIf I saw vacant high level spaces, I might have done the same. That's just planning ahead. Most people are evacuated anyway, right?
ReplyDeleteIf they did pay for storage it'll just be tacked onto the sale price.
ReplyDeleteYou snooze you loose. Snowflakes should have gone home.
ReplyDeleteNapleton is a billionaire mega dealer. Won't suffer ANY consequence like you or I would.
ReplyDeleteB.T.W. these mega dealers are pushing out the small dealers and monopolizing the market.
Someone used their head and had a business plan. Cannot fault smarts, unless you are a snowflake and then you b*tch!
ReplyDeleteA good solution to the problem!!!

ReplyDeleteOf course they are pushing out the competition.
That is what "free enterprise" is all about.
It is a dog eat dog world in business and completely immoral.
The parking was free. And while they were ticketed $500 per car, if the lot flooded it was probably well worth it to the dealership. As for losing business, I don't think they will really lose much. People have remarkably short memories.
ReplyDeleteThe dealership knew that all the people who lost their vehicles in the flooding would need the new cars. They were just looking out for their customers (SAR.).
