And the backlash continues. Allan Jones is the CEO of Hardwick Clothes and payday lending chain Check Into Cash. He’s had just about all he can take of this “unpatriotic” crap over the National Anthem in the NFL. He says he is done with advertising during NFL football games and sponsoring wardrobe options for NBC’s on-air talent during NFL broadcasts. He issued a statement that proclaimed his companies “will not condone unpatriotic behavior,” according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. I do like a man who has principles. That was the right thing to do even if it costs him financially.
Jones has directed his media buyer, the Tombras Group, to pull all of his companies’ commercials from NFL games “for the entire season.” “For the 29 states we operate in, this isn’t much to them, but it’s a lot to us,” Jones said. I’m sure it is. “The Tombras Group is our ad agency in Knoxville and our national media buyer for both TV and radio (for Check Into Cash) and don’t look for Hardwick on the NFL either.” I hope that many more follow Jones after all of this outrageous behavior in the NFL.

Democrats Say Immigration Could Hurt Republicans In 2018 Or Something
If Donald Trump and the GOP do not defend people who are unlawfully present in the United States, it could mean doom, because people who tend to not vote GOP will not vote GOP again
Immigration controversy could hurt GOP, Democratic poll finds
President Donald Trump’s immigration policies could take Texas and other states with big Latino populations down the same path as reliably Democratic California – if Republicans in Congress don’t support the Dream Act, a new Democratic poll suggests.
Leaders of the Latino Victory Project, which paid for the nationwide poll, found Hispanic voters overwhelmingly disapprove of Trump after his first eight months in office. Trump won 28 percent of the Latino vote in the 2016 election, according to exit polls. The new survey, conducted earlier this month, showed 24 percent approve of the job he’s doing now.

Epidemic of Anal Cancer Among Gays
It is not all rainbow flags, feathered boas, show tunes, and self-righteous political bullying. Homosexuality entails wallowing in disease not only in the moral, spiritual, and psychiatric, but also the medical sense. AIDS is one obvious example. Anal cancer is another:
Almost 620,000 gay and bisexual men in the United States were living with HIV in 2014, and 100,000 of these men were not even aware of their infection. These men are 100 times more likely to have anal cancer than HIV-negative men who exclusively have sex with women. …
Anal cancer is predominantly caused by chronic or persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV infection can lead to the development of anal precancer which, if remains undetected or not adequately treated, may lead to anal cancer.
Maybe we just need more awareness, right? Or maybe prevention would be better:
The objective of screening is to identify and treat these precancers to prevent occurrence of anal cancer. However, one of the reasons for the lack of screening guidelines is that anal precancer treatment has not yet been shown to prevent invasive cancer.

FBI Director Warns: Terrorists Are Looking To Use Drones To Attack U.S.
An FBI Director is now warning that terrorists are looking to use drones to instigate attacks on American soil.
Christopher Wray spoke to Congress, testifying that “I think we do know that terrorist organizations have an interest in using drones.” He was speaking to the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee at the time he made these remarks.
“We’ve seen [drone use by terrorists] overseas already with growing frequency.”
He went on to say that they now expecting that the same kind of drone attacks will be launched in the US “imminently.” He pointed to the fact that drones are “relatively easy” to purchase, own and operate, and they are difficult to “disrupt and monitor.”
You can watch the two minute answer her Director Wray here, when he is asked by a member to describe the threat of unmanned drones:

JUST IN: First Grader Punished For Kneeling During Pledge of Allegiance
We’ve been discussing players in the National Football League kneeling before and during the national anthem, but they all have one thing in common: They’re adults. Punishing them by taking away their funding and yelling at them about patriotism doesn’t make us feel bad because they’re all over the age of 18.
However, what do you do when a first grader kneels for the pledge of allegiance? It’s not like you can really do anything to them, at least not on the same scale as you would a professional football player.
One teacher in Florida faced this exact situation in her classroom, and she dealt with it in a way that many are going to view as more than appropriate.

National Sanctuary City Sting Ends With Nearly 500 Illegal Aliens Arrested
President Donald Trump hasn’t appeared to be all that focused on his campaign promise of cracking down on illegal immigration, complete with a new border wall, but the facts don’t lie. While the media was busy clutching their proverbial pearls over the President’s comments regarding the National Football League, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were hard at work rustling up illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities.
ICE officials confirmed that 498 criminal aliens were detained by law enforcement in the course of a four-day long sting that targeted 10 cities around the nation.
And before liberals jump on their high horses about “breaking up families” and “innocent brown people just trying to achieve the American dream,” these people are not the kind of people we want living in the United States.
317 of them had criminal convictions, 68 of them are immigration fugitives, 104 of them came back into the country illegally after previous deportations, and 18 of them are known gang members, or have gang affiliations.
107 of them were detained in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

NFL Investors Reconsider Their Support After Nat’l Anthem Protests- This Is Going To Hurt!
It is now known that the NFL is facing some issues with this whole kneeing debacle, and they aren’t going to like that outcome of the consequences if they keep it up. Not only are they having to deal with the records ratings plummeting, but they now know that their investors are not happy with the way things are going, and they are hemorrhaging.
The culprits that are pitted against the NFL: JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Shawn Quigg. Both of them are making moves to exhort investors to stay away from CBS stock right before the big NFL Week 4 starts on the network.
Bloomberg the magazine actually had an article:
“The bank recommends buying an option that gives you the right to sell the shares at $57.50 on the likelihood that the stock will fall below that price after the company discloses ratings for the games. CBS closed at $58 on Tuesday.”

FAA Restricts Drones Over Major U.S. Landmarks
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new regulation restricting unauthorized drone operations over 10 Department of Interior sites, including the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore.
The announcement Thursday says the two federal agencies "have agreed to restrict drone flights up to 400 feet within the lateral boundaries" of the following sites:
Statue of Liberty National Monument, New York
Boston National Historical Park (U.S.S. Constitution), Boston
Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia
Folsom Dam, Folsom, Calif.
Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, Ariz.
Grand Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee, Wash.
Hoover Dam, Boulder City, Nev.
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis
Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, S.D.
Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, Calif.
The announcement says the action comes at "the request of U.S. national security and law enforcement agencies." It says it marks the first time the FAA has restricted drone flights over Interior Department landmarks, although many of the sites were covered by a National Park Service ban on drones issued in 2014.

After Scuffle, Census To Add Sexual Orientation Question To Marketing Survey
After an outcry from advisers to the U.S. Census Bureau, the federal agency is no longer considering a proposal to remove a question about sexual orientation from a marketing survey for the 2020 Census.
Members of a working group of the bureau's National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic and Other Populations on a conference call on Tuesday with bureau staffers raised concerns after learning about the proposal to change the draft questionnaire for the Census Barriers, Attitudes and Motivators Survey, or CBAMS, according to meeting minutes obtained by NPR.
Responses to this survey help the bureau craft its marketing campaign to encourage different segments of the U.S. population to participate in the 2020 Census. The survey's questions try to gauge why certain people — especially among what the bureau considers "hard-to-count" populations, such as racial and ethnic minorities, unauthorized immigrants, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community — do not participate.
The bureau first commissioned this marketing survey in 2008 for the roll-out of the 2010 Census. In preparation for the 2020 Census, the bureau published a Federal Register notice in August to collect public comments on a new draft questionnaire, which included for the first time a question about the respondent's sexual orientation.

World War I Still Haunts America
This year is the 100th anniversary of Woodrow Wilson’s pulling America into World War I. Many people celebrate this centenary of America’s emergence as a world power. But at a time when the Trump administration is bombing or rattling sabers at half a dozen nations and many Democrats are clamoring to bloody Russia, it is worth reviewing how World War I turned out so much worse than the experts and politicians promised.
Wilson was narrowly reelected in 1916 on the basis of a campaign slogan, “He kept us out of war.” But Wilson had massively violated neutrality by providing armaments and money to the Allied powers that had been fighting Germany since 1914. At the same time, he had no quarrel with the British blockade that was slowly starving the German people. In his April 1917 speech to Congress seeking a declaration of war against Germany, he hailed the U.S. government as “one of the champions of the rights of mankind” and proclaimed that “the world must be made safe for democracy.”
American soldiers helped turn the tide on the Western Front in late 1918. But the cost was far higher than Americans anticipated. More than 100,000 American soldiers died in the third-bloodiest war in U.S. history. Another half- million Americans perished from the Spanish Flu epidemic spurred and spread by the war. But the political damage lasted far longer.

Gorka on Alabama Senate Primary: Draining the Swamp Is About Defeating GOP Establishment
Dr. Sebastian Gorka, former Deputy Assistant to President Trump and National Security editor for Breitbart News, and now chief strategist for the MAGA Coalition, joined Steve Bannon and Raheem Kassam on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily to talk about the Alabama Senate race.
Gorka said that voters in Alabama understand that voting for Judge Roy Moore in the GOP Senate primary does not compromise their support for President Trump, even though he has endorsed Moore’s opponent, Luther Strange.
“I’ve got a lot of guys on Twitter that are scratching their heads and saying, ‘What’s going on with the president?’ Everybody in Alabama I spoke to totally got it. They know the president’s intuition is to go with Judge Moore. That’s why we had that fascinating line in his speech – I think he went off-script, and he said, ‘Oh, by the way, if Luther Strange loses, I’m going to be right behind Judge Moore all the way,’” said Gorka.

The Illusion Of Prosperity
For the last 50 years, the consumer, that means you and me, have been the most powerful force driving the U.S. economy.Household spending now accounts for almost 70% of economic growth, about 10% more than it did in 1971. Household spending in the U.S. is also approximately 10-15% higher than most other developed nations.
Currently, U.S. economic growth is anemic and still suffering from the after-shocks of the financial crisis. Importantly, much of that weakness is the result of growing stress on consumers.
Using the compelling graph below and the data behind it, we can illustrate why the U.S. economy and consumers are struggling.

Rand Paul: Repeal Obamacare In Full
Sen. Rand Paul called out Congress for going back on its promise to repeal Obamacare, and said he cannot support a bill that keeps Affordable Care Act spending in place during a Wednesday interview on “Fox and Friends.”
“I wish we would just repeal it,” Paul said. “There’s probably no bigger opponent of Obamacare than myself. As a physician I’ve seen Obamacare up close and personal. It’s a terrible system. But we promised to repeal it. We didn’t go to Tea Party rallies and shout, I didn’t hear anybody chanting ‘hey guys let’s keep Obamacare and let’s divvy it up to the states and mess with the formula so we take some money from the Democrats and give to Republicans.’ We said we’d repeal it. We didn’t say we’d keep it and block grant it.”
Paul said he spoke with President Donald Trump, and was convinced that the White House would legalize the sale of health insurance across state lines.
“He [Trump] assures me that he is going to legalize the sale of across state insurance through associations. Which means any individual, millions of individuals in our country will be able to buy insurance through a group. Get cheaper prices, and get a better product,” he said. “Obamacare is going to get worse. We will get other chance but we should also do some things that are good for the country, and good for health care immediately.”

IBM Now Has More Employees in India Than in the U.S.
IBM has shifted its center of gravity halfway around the world to India, making it a high-tech example of the globalization trends that the Trump administration has railed against.

Puerto Rican devastation could mean more Florida voters
SAN JUAN — As Puerto Rico slips deeper into what many call a humanitarian crisis following Hurricane Maria, the island is primed for a mass exodus of what could be 1 million people — a sizable number of whom are expected to settle in Florida, the nation's biggest swing state.
That could well prove to be a boon to Democrats in a state which the past four top-of-the-ticket races have been decided by about a percentage point.
"It’s going to mean a lot more people voting Democrat in Florida," Marco Rigau, president of the San Juan municipal assembly, told POLITICO Wednesday, a week ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to the commonwealth. “Puerto Ricans don’t like President Trump. When he shows on Tuesday, he’ll say ‘The Puerto Ricans love me’ because people won’t be picketing. But he has no idea.”

New drug beats heart disease by reducing inflammation
About every 40 seconds, an American has a heart attack, and almost 15 percent of those heart attacks are fatal. As the leading cause of death in the U.S., heart disease has been the subject of thousands of studies in the last several decades, and breakthroughs in the last 50 years have been significant.
First, diet, exercise, and smoking cessation were all proven to play an enormous role in heart health, helping physicians guide patients to less risky lifestyle choices.
Then, in the 1980s, the first commercial statin was approved by the FDA, ushering in an era in which medication could be used alongside lifestyle changes to lower cholesterol levels, potentially reducing heart attack risk by over a third for some high risk patients.

Drinking beer can lift your spirits, researchers claim
It's the perfect excuse to take part in Oktoberfest.
For researchers have found that drinking beer can lift your spirits and make you feel good about yourself.
Hordenine, abundant in malted barley - a key ingredient in the alcoholic beverage, activates dopamine receptors in the brain.
This then triggers a surge of the feel-good chemical to the decision-making area of the brain, German scientists claim.
The findings also go someway to explain why some people are never able to stop at just one drink - and end up staying for multiple.

Thank Equifax for that fake new mortgage on your house, stolen tax refund
WASHINGTON - For up to 143 million U.S. citizens who lost personal data in the breach of the Equifax credit bureau, here’s how criminals might take advantage:
They might try to buy a gun in your name. Or get a second mortgage on your house. They could lease a car by impersonating you, and crash it. They might steal your tax refund or Social Security check. Maybe they’ll get your health records.
That’s just for starters. For victims of the breach, headaches may recur for years. U.S. consumers are stricken by a new reality: Companies that gather personal data on them often are unable to protect that data.

Extra security placed near Ray Lewis statue after petition urges its removal
Extra security has been added near the statue of retired Ravens star Ray Lewis at M&T Bank Stadium after he joined current players Sunday in kneeling during the national anthem, provoking calls to remove the likeness.
As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, more than 36,000 people had signed an online petition on change.org that advocates for the removal of the Lewis statue “because of his refusal to stand during the National Anthem.
“That song honors our country and our veterans who fought for it,” the petition reads. “To kneel during it is disrespectful, regardless of what you are protesting.”
Given recent statue-related protests and vandalism, the Maryland Stadium Authority didn't wait until this Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers to take precautions.
“There is additional security at the statue plaza at this time," said Rachelina Bonacci, a spokesperson for the authority, which is the team’s stadium landlord.

Commie West Point Grad’s Dad: This Is Bad
Social media is a great way to connect with old friends, learn about all sorts of people across the globe, and completely ruin your career in an instant. That’s what a young West Point graduate named Spenser Rapone is learning right now.
Earlier this week Rapone, a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, posted the following images in support of Colin Kaepernick:
If this seems like a bad idea to you, the Army agrees. Young Spenser is in hot water. Just imagine, getting through West Point and then throwing it all away… for Colin Kaepernick.
Rapone’s dad isn’t happy about it either. WFMJ in Youngstown, OH:
Army officials are looking into controversial social media posts by a Second Lieutenant from New Castle. At issue are photos of West Point graduate Spenser Rapone in uniform displaying pro-communist messages…
Meanwhile Rapone’s father, Lawrence County Treasurer Richard Rapone, disavowed his son’s political views on his public Facebook page.

Supreme Court, New Term Near, to Hear Challenge to Unions
Its conservative majority restored, the Supreme Court said Thursday it will return to an issue with the potential to financially cripple Democratic-leaning labor unions that represent government workers.
After the justices deadlocked 4-4 in a similar case last year, the high court will consider a free-speech challenge from workers who object to paying money to unions they don't support.
The court, with conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch on board, could decide to overturn a 40-year-old Supreme Court ruling that allows public sector unions to collect fees from non-members to cover the costs of negotiating contracts for all employees.
The union fees case is among nine new cases the justices added to their docket for the term that begins on Monday. Others deal with a defendant's right to direct his own defense, police searches of vehicles and overtime pay for service advisers at car dealerships.

Resort firefighters to begin controversial shift schedule
The resort’s firefighter union is gearing up to start its new shift-schedule next week, finally moving off the longstanding shifts of 24 hours on-duty, followed by 72 hours off-duty.
Starting on Oct. 2, firefighters and paramedics will be assigned to 10-hour day and 14-hour night shifts, on a two-day rotation. That means employees will work two dayshifts, followed by two nightshifts, with four days off. Dayshift workers will report at 7 a.m. and nightshifts will start at 5 p.m.
The schedule is designed for a 45-hour work week, and the city will pay premium overtime for hours worked over the allotted time, according to the Fire Department shift implementation report.
“Anytime there’s change, you have to measure it, for better or worse, and that’s what we’ll do moving forward,” Fire Union President Ryan Whittington said.
The shift schedule was the focus of a yearlong impasse between the Town of Ocean City and Chapter 4269 of the International Association of Fire Fighters during labor negotiations, last year.
The mayor and City Council originally wanted to change the schedule to 12-hour shifts, but a compromise was reached on the 10/14 shift-schedule in March. A three-year contract was signed shortly after.

ATHENA laser weapon 'kills' 5 'outlaws'
Silent, invisible, deadly. The powerful ATHENA laser weapon can destroy enemy threats within seconds. It just destroyed five Outlaw drones.
For the United States, thanks to pioneering efforts of American companies like Lockheed Martin and the military, laser weapons are no longer the stuff of Star Wars and Star Trek.
In near-term future battles, the U.S. military can choose to bring laser weapons mounted on vehicles, vessels, and more, to war. By comparison, the weapons of any enemy will look like bows and arrows.
ATHENA, (Advanced Test High Energy Asset), is one of the most exciting of these new American laser weapons. During recent testing with the U.S. Army's Space and Missile Defense Command at the Army's White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, the 30-kilowatt weapon slayed five Outlaw drones. Not toy, hobby-sized drones, but drones with nearly 11 foot wingspans.

NFL players' protests risk stadium funding
Taxpayer costs are always controversial, but issue has been elevated by demonstrations
American taxpayers shelled out billions of dollars to build the stadiums that National Football League players are now using to stage their kneel-down protests of the national anthem.
The players say they have a right to express their displeasure with racism in the U.S. with their protests, but lawmakers say the NFL could be risking its access to the public trough if the team owners don’t get a grip on the situation.
“These protests are spitting in the face of the people who paid for that stadium,” said state Rep. Steve Drazkowski, a Republican in Minnesota, where the NFL’s Vikings team just opened a stadium built with more than $500 million in local and state financial assistance. “It will create buyer’s remorse among the taxpayers.”
With figures adjusted for inflation, Minnesotans will pay out nearly $1.3 billion over the next 30 years for the stadium.
It’s one part of the more than $6.7 billion in public funds taxpayers have shelled out to build 19 NFL stadiums and renovate three others since 1997.

The Evil Alexander Hamilton
Steve Bannon’s September 10, 2017 60 Minutes sparked considerable discussion among both the left and the right. Bannon is always good for that.
After Charlie Rose insisted that immigration built America, Bannon retorted that he was wrong and then seemingly reinforced the idea that “nationalism” has defined American history:
“You couldn’t be more dead wrong. America was built on her citizens. … Look at the 19th century. What built America’s called the American system, from Hamilton to Polk to Henry Clay to Lincoln to the Roosevelts. [It was] a system of protection of our manufacturing, financial system that lends to manufacturers, OK, and the control of our borders. Economic nationalism is what this country was built on. The American system.”
The left took this as an insult to unlimited immigration and fired off several shrill pieces attacking Bannon’s perceived jingoism and nativism. After all, they argued, Alexander Hamilton was an immigrant.
That isn’t the problem. Bannon was correct about immigration. The United States is not a “nation of immigrants.” Hamilton arrived in the British North American colonies from a British Caribbean colony, which meant he technically moved from one British possession to another. That isn’t “immigration” as the left defines it.

Cardin: U.S. Won’t Recognize Palestinian Warrants Through Interpol
The U.S. will not honor Palestinian arrest warrants issued through Interpol, a senior official in Washington said following the international police organization’s vote to include ‘Palestine’ as a full member state.
The decision drew heavy criticism from Israel, which is concerned that the Palestinian Authority will leverage its membership to issue “red notices,” or warrants for the arrest and extradition of Israeli officials. Omar Awadallah, the head of the UN organizations department in the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, said following the vote that the Palestinians “now have the right to sue anyone,” including Israelis who have committed alleged crimes in Palestinian territory.
Indeed, another reason for Israel’s staunch opposition to the vote was that it disregards any need for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians regarding a final status solution to the conflict, instead recognizing a de facto Palestinian state in all of the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem.
However, U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland, the top ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said any “red notices” issued by the Palestinians “will not be recognized in many countries, including the United States.”
Cardin added that Palestinian membership would prove detrimental to future negotiations.

Paedophile school aide sentenced to 100 years prison
A former Maryland school aide who confessed to sexually abusing children aged between nine and 13 has been sentenced to 100 years in prison.
Deonte Carraway, 24, took advantage of his role as a volunteer and director of a youth choir to abuse the boys, filming at least a dozen engaging in sexual activity.
Carraway, who carried out his sick assaults inside Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School, pressured the young children into sending him inappropriate photos through social media, or the secured messenger app KIK.
An investigation into the depraved acts began when an uncle of one of the students involved in the case discovered explicit messages and reported it to authorities.

Debris from 2011 tsunami carried invasive species to North America
The 2011 Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami washed massive amounts of debris into the sea. Boats, docks and parts of houses circulated in the Pacific and landed on the shores of North America, carrying animals native to Japan with them. In a paper published Thursday in the journal Science, researchers documented the scope of this unprecedented event for the first time.
The authors are concerned this might be a glimpse of the future. More people live along the seashore than ever before, and as major storms and associated surges become more common, massive rafting events like this may also increase, speeding the distribution of invasive species across the oceans.
"If you look at the Caribbean and the Florida Keys right now, there are entire neighborhoods gone. We know that this debris went into the ocean," study author James Carlton, a marine biologist at Williams College, tells Axios.

Governor Larry Hogan Directs National Guard to Assist Puerto Rico Following Hurricane Maria
Maryland National Guard’s 29th Combat Aviation Brigade to Assist with Water Purification Efforts
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Larry Hogan today announced that he has directed the Maryland National Guard to send resources requested by Puerto Rico to assist in response and relief efforts following Hurricane Maria. The governor's directive follows conversations with the Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, and other communications between staff-level officials. The governor has authorized the deployment of a 26-member detachment of the Maryland National Guard’s 29th Combat Aviation Brigade, which will deploy for potentially 60 days to conduct water purification with two tactical systems that can each purify 1,200 gallons of water per hour. Fresh water has been in critically short supply in Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria made landfall on September 20th. Putting their equipment to use, the National Guard members will be assigned with converting hazardous water into water that is safe for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
“During my conversation with Governor Rossello, I offered the full support of the State of Maryland to Puerto Rico and all areas devastated by these recent storms,” said Governor Hogan. “Maryland is fortunate to have been spared the worst effects of this hurricane season so far, and we stand ready to respond to those in desperate need of resources.”
The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) leads the state’s coordination of resource support through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which allows for states and territories to share resources during and after disasters.
“The emergency management system in Maryland is filled with local, state, private, and non-governmental partners dedicated to ensuring the safety and resiliency of Maryland citizens. They also stand ready to support our sister states and territories in times of need," said Executive Director Russell Strickland. "MEMA will continue to coordinate requests for assistance in response to and recovery from disasters."
Maryland currently has a mission deployed to Florida supporting response and recovery operations. Twenty-two members of the Maryland Incident Management Team (IMT) have been managing four separate base camps in Florida that house and feed responding personnel. The assisting IMT members are from Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Washington Counties, the City of Baltimore, and the Town of Ocean City.
Maryland has recently completed five support missions in Texas and Florida following Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, respectively. These include:
- The Maryland Department of Human Services sent staff to support disaster sheltering in the Houston, Texas area. The human service workers provided shelter set up, logistical support, and additional disaster services.
- Howard County Recreation and Parks sent a debris clearing and removal team to Southern Florida in order to assist the opening of roadways.
- The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems and MEMA coordinated the deployment of a critical incident stress management (CISM) team. The CISM team, who are from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service and Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, supported shelter workers and first responders in southwest Florida and the Florida Keys.
- The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) supported the Florida Department of Emergency Management's energy infrastructure fuels support team. MEA organized fuel delivery to gas stations, fueling depots, emergency generators, and critical infrastructure.
- The Howard County Office of Emergency Management conducted volunteer and donations management assistance in the Florida State Emergency Operations Center.
On the Collective Football Plantation
Quasi-socialism is one of the reasons that American football has not spread to the entire planet, as soccer did.
Most professional sports leagues in the U.S. are quasi-socialist enterprises within capitalist corporate America. Outwardly, the NFL looks like a successful corporation, but from within, this corporation has implemented principles of doing business that are alien to America.
Sooner or later, the conflict between the quasi-socialist paradise inside the NFL and its capitalist encirclement was bound to happen. For too long, this smoldering conflict between serf gladiators and free citizens was in the shadows. Sports organizations have managed to introduce as many socialist ideas into the sport as they could, but now this genie has jumped out of the bottle: on Sunday, Sept. 24, players staged an anti-American demarche and did not stand with their hands over their heart for the national anthem.
All NFL teams are formally independent and have their own owners, as it should under capitalism. However, the profits of these supposedly independent organizations depend not so much on the quality of the game as on the collective agreement with advertisers. If there is a superstar on one of the teams who scores a lot, then all the teams become winners. The profit from advertising is distributed evenly between the teams regardless of the quality of the game and the place in the championship. The league champion earns only slightly more than the worst team.
Leveling is practiced in most professional sports leagues. That is, the worst team gets the best league’s players at the end of the season. The worse the team plays, the better its composition becomes. I hope that the cornerstone of Marxism, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is well-known to everyone. Let me remind you that in the Soviet Union state investments were received only by the lagging collective plantations (collective farms). As an argument, it was said that “weak farms should be helped.” Thus, everything happened in the USSR in accordance with Churchill's words that socialism’s “inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” Socialist Obama, like the NFL, also adheres to the principle of the uniform “spreading of wealth.”

Homeless more visible this season
Indigent population stable, but more frequently sighted on Boardwalk by tourists
Ocean City officials have made the homeless population a priority, now that residents and visitors have spotted them more frequently on the Boardwalk this summer.
“We have a plan that’s ongoing, from an operations standpoint, on how we’re addressing this issue,” Police Chief Ross Buzzuro told the council during the Sept. 18 session. “We’ve been very proactive throughout the summer and that is something we’ll continue.”
Earlier this month, Mayor Rick Meehan and Councilman Wayne Hartman asked Ocean City Police to keep an eye on the people who camp out on the boards. The City Council received several complaints on the matter, raising questions whether the homeless population is rising or harassing behavior is becoming more apparent.
But Bruce Young, who runs Shepherd’s Crook food pantry, said the homeless population has always been here — it’s just that more people see them.
“Right now, I can walk down to the Boardwalk and see a few of them by the Caroline Street Comfort Station,” he said. “They like to go there to get out of the sun and it’s a bathroom. I’d say there’s about eight homeless people that live here year-round that we serve. Traditionally, we see 50 of them between May and October.”

Study: DACA Amnesty Would Bring 1.4M to U.S., Trigger Never-Ending Chain Migration
An amnesty for nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation by an Obama-created temporary amnesty program may trigger a never-ending flood of chain migration starting with at least 1.4 million foreign nationals coming to the United States.
In new research, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Policy Jessica Vaughan found that, should the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens shielded by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program be given amnesty – as a few GOP-led bills would do, it would usher in at least 1.4 million legal immigrants coming to the U.S. through chain migration.
The current U.S. legal immigration system is primarily run off of chain migration, where legal immigrants and newly-naturalized citizens sponsor foreign family members to bring them to the U.S.

Median Fence, Lighting Project To Begin In October
OCEAN CITY — The long-awaited dune-style median fence and enhanced street lighting project for Coastal Highway is expected to begin in mid-October with an anticipated completion date prior to the next summer season.
For over a year, Ocean City officials have been coordinating with the State Highway Administration (SHA) on a project that will install a dune-style median fence down the center of Coastal Highway from Route 90 to the Convention Center as part of a larger continued effort to improve pedestrian safety along the corridor. The median fence is expected to improve public safety in the known troubles spot section of Coastal Highway which historically has seen the most pedestrian-vehicle collisions by forcing pedestrians to cross the highway at marked crosswalks at street ends and not dash across in between blocks.

Federal Judge Smacks Down DOJ Lawyers Protecting Hillary - Will Review Redacted Clinton Emails
Why is Tillerson’s State Department and Sessions’ DOJ protecting Hillary Clinton?
Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch announced Thursday that a federal judge will personally review, on camera, redacted material from Hillary Clinton’s emails during her time as Secretary of State.
Via Judicial Watch:
Judicial Watch announced today that a federal judge will personally review, in camera, redacted material from emails discussing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of iPads and iPhones during her tenure at the State Department. Judge Kollar-Kotelly also ordered the State Department to file an affidavit addressing why it should not have to search new Clinton emails recovered. In taking these steps, the court rejected arguments by the Tillerson State Department and its lawyers at the Sessions Justice Department.
The court will review the blacked-out information so as to better ascertain whether the government misconduct exception would require the release of the full emails. Generally speaking, the government misconduct exception prevents government agencies from withholding information that would shed light on government wrongdoing under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Below is a biography of Dr. Dennis that was written in 1879. He died in 1900 in Salisbury and is buried in Parsons Cemetery. The biography listed his partner in Salisbury as Dr. F. Marion Siemens, but a listing in the 1878 Maryland directory confirmed to me that his partner was, in fact, Dr. F. M. Slemons. Apparently he got married, as a reference to him is made in a 1954 history of the hospital and its nurses. In 1908, a Mrs. Fannie Dennis “commemorated the memory of her husband, Doctor Stephen Dennis, by providing a legacy of $1,000 to be applied toward a maternity ward planned for the hospital’s fourth floor”. Dr. Dennis was just another Eastern Shoreman who returned to his roots and made a difference for all of us.
The Biography
Stephen Purnell Dennis was born on October 13, 1827, near Pittsville, MD, in Wicomico County. His parents were John and Margaret (Fooks) Dennis. He was brought up on his father’s farm, in the labor and management of which his early life was spent. Not until he was of age did he spend an entire year in study. Then for three years he was engaged in teaching and studying preparatory to entering upon the regular study of medicine, his chosen and cherished profession. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1856, from the Pennsylvania Medical College. He at once commenced the practice of medicine in his native place among his early friends and companions. In 1861 he removed to the town of Salisbury. Dr. Dennis spent the winter of 1865-6 in the city of New York, in attendance upon a course of lectures at the Bellevue Hospital Medical College. Soon after his return from New York his health began to give way, and he became associated in the practice of medicine with Dr. F. Marion Slemons, of Salisbury. For four years this partnership continued with entire harmony, and in 1870, owing to the impaired health of Dr. Dennis, it was with mutual reluctance dissolved. After a protracted illness, when all hope of restoration to health had been given up, he so far recovered as to be able to spend the winter attending lectures at the University of Pennsylvania. On his return to Salisbury he was able to resume the practice of his profession. Again, with the true spirit of a seeker of knowledge, Dr, Dennis spent the time from October, 1872, until May, 1873, in New York, giving special attention to operative surgery, gynecology, physical diagnosis, and diseases of the eye and ear.
Again returning to his home in Salisbury, he has continued until the present time (1879), entirely devoted to his work. He has successfully performed several critical and delicate operations in lithotomy, in ligation of the common carotid artery, many difficult amputations, etc. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Salisbury. The only time when Dr, Dennis turned from the pursuit of his profession was in 1859, when he accepted a nomination for the Legislature of his native State from the Democratic party, of which he has always been a firm but independent adherent. He also served in the memorable session which met in Frederick City in the spring of 1861. He holds the honorary post of Surgeon to the Maryland Editorial Association, and is a Royal Arch Mason.

Family Attacked By Teens Who Cut In Line At Six Flags “Fright Fest”
CHICAGO (CBS) — A family outing at Six Flags Great America’s “Fright Fest” took a horrific turn Saturday night when a group of teenagers brutally beat a 12-year-old boy and his parents as they waited in line at the amusement park in north suburban Gurnee, authorities said.
The annual Halloween-themed attraction typically draws “an increased number of knuckleheads who come to stir things up” at the park, but nothing like Saturday’s attack that left a family of three hospitalized, Gurnee Deputy Police Chief of Operations Brian Smith said.
“This is rare. This is on a different spectrum,” Smith said. “This family is lucky they got out with just the injuries that they did.”
Nine people have been arrested and charged with the attack, but Smith said it was possible more suspects could have gotten away.
“We don’t have any direct indication that there were additional people involved, but we won’t know that for sure unless we see more footage,” Smith said, urging witnesses to come forward to police with cellphone videos.

Teen stabbed to death in NYC high school
A Bronx student stabbed a classmate to death with a switchblade and seriously injured another in front of more than a dozen classmates inside their high school Wednesday morning — and cops are investigating if bullying was a motive, sources said.
Investigators believe Abel Cedeno, 18, plunged the tool into a Matthew McCree, 15, and Ariane LaBoy, 16, around 10:50 a.m. on the fifth floor of the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation on Mohegan Avenue in East Tremont, sources said.
One of the victims was throwing pens across the room in the middle of a third-period U.S. history class when Cedeno was hit, according to witness Jomarlyn Colon, 16, who was in the classroom at the time.
Cedeno demanded to know who did it, and when the McCree stepped forward to tell him it was an accident, Cedeno pulled a knife out of his front pocket, she said. It was a three-inch switchblade, Police Chief Robert Boyce said during a press conference later in the day.

New Maryland Laws Take Effect October 1, 2017
The new laws taking effect this week impact everything from rearview mirrors to rape to recyclables.
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Have a bunch of fuzzy dice on hanging on your rearview mirror? You may want to take them down this weekend if they are getting in the way of your view through the windshield.
Starting Sunday, it's no longer permitted to have any "object, material or obstruction hanging from the rearview mirror." While police cannot pull drivers over for this offense alone, it is a secondary violation that can be added to the list if a driver is suspected of another offense.
That is just one of many new policies taking effect on Oct. 1. Changes in definitions of crimes such as rape and animal cruelty will also become law, and people with marijuana and assault charges may be eligible to have their records expunged.
Below are some highlights of laws taking effect Sunday, Oct. 1. See thefull list of new laws from the Maryland Department of Legislative Services.

Ogle’s news release said the autopsy revealed no trauma from any source other than a dog. The release said the infant was healthy and well cared for prior to his death.
The family’s two dogs, described as “pit bull, or a pit bull mix,” have been euthanized.

'Treason' Cited as Chelsea Manning Blocked at Canada Border
Canada dared call it treason.
American’s northern neighbor slammed the door on Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning when she tried to drive into Quebec last week. Canadian authorities blocked Manning “on grounds of serious criminality,” according to official records, “that would equate to an indictable offense, namely treason.”
Canada’s red light mocked the emoluments presented to Manning since she waltzed out of Fort Leavenworth on May 17. Manning was feted like a conquering hero in New York City’s gay-pride parade last June. This month’s Vogue magazine showcases Manning in a one-piece swimsuit, snapped by celebrity photographer Annie Liebovitz. Manning will be a headliner at October’s New Yorker Festival. And Harvard recently named Manning a Visiting Fellow.
“She speaks on the social, technological and economic ramifications of Artificial Intelligence,” Harvard breathlessly announced. “As a trans woman, she advocates for queer and transgender rights as @xychelsea on Twitter.” Tragicomically, Harvard described Manning as “a Washington D.C. based network security expert.”
These plaudits are outrageous, given why Manning landed behind bars: In July 2013, Manning was convicted of 20 of 22 charges including six violations of the Espionage Act of 1917.

Steelers’ Alejandro Villanueva Has Best-Selling Gear in NFL After Standing for National Anthem
Army veteran and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva became the most popular player on the NFL's online store over the past 24 hours.
Fanatics, the company that manages the NFL Shop site, confirmed Monday that Villanueva's gear, including jerseys and name and number t-shirts, had been ordered more than that of any other player in the league since Sunday's games, ESPNreports.
During Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, Villanueva was the only Steelers player to leave the locker room and stand on the sidelines of the field for the national anthem. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin criticized Villanueva, a former Army ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star, for his actions.

Harvard Releases Report on Inclusion and Belonging
The first draft of a report from Harvard University's Task Force on Inclusion and Belonging includes recommendations of 14 "shared standards for inclusive excellence" to be implemented university-wide.
The nine-page initial report released Monday advises, among other things, that the university create a "culture of mutual hospitality and engagement across difference" and "responsive curricula" that can "appropriately serve the diverse array of intellectual interests brought to the table by members of the campus community."
The task force asks for "intentionality" in efforts to diversify the staff, faculty, and the student body. In the pursuit of a value termed "inclusive excellence," the university is told to shift toward "avoiding over-reliance on indicators of excellence that systematically favor historically dominant groups."
The 46-person task force also recommends the creation of either or both a center of Inclusion and Belonging, or of Identity, Politics, and Culture.

Perdue Opens Soybean Processing Plant In Pennsylvania
BAINBRIDGE (Lancaster County, Pa.) — Perdue AgriBusiness today opened Pennsylvania’s first large-scale, commercial soybean processing plant. The opening creates both an in-state market for soybeans and source of soymeal for livestock and dairy farms while tapping into existing waste-to-energy to bring a net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over current operations.
One of the most highly efficient, technologically advanced, environmentally sound soybean processing plants in the country, it promises to change positively the economic equation for Pennsylvania farmers who have been paying more to send their beans out of state for processing and bring back meal for animal feed.
“This plant builds on Perdue’s investment in Pennsylvania and our commitment to Pennsylvania farmers,” said Perdue Farms Chairman Jim Perdue, who was joined by Gov. Tom Wolf and state Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, along with renewable energy partner Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) executives, local elected officials, community leaders, farmers and others, to cut the ribbon and open the plant just in time for the fall harvest.
“It also sets a new standard in terms of community investment, economic potential and environmental gains,” Perdue said. “We truly appreciate all of the support we received from the governor and his entire administration to get this project up and running. This plant demonstrates our shared commitment to ensure agriculture remains strong and farmers have every advantage they need to remain competitive.”

McConnell Pledges to Support Roy Moore and Donald Trump’s Agenda
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) congratulated Judge Roy Moore on his blowout victory in the Alabama Senate GOP primary over Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) — the candidate he backed.
“I would like to congratulate Roy Moore on his victory in Alabama tonight,” McConnell said in a statement.
McConnell added that Moore “ran a spirited campaign centered around dissatisfaction with the progress made in Washington” — not acknowledging his own role as senate majority leader or support for Strange.
“I share that frustration,” McConnell said, pledging to support Trump’s agenda, noting it was what “the American people voted for last November.”

DEA Head Chuck Rosenberg Resigns. Now Who Takes Over?
The Washington Post and New York Times have reported that Chuck Rosenberg, acting head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will resign at the end of this week. The Times attributed Rosenberg’s departure to his growing conviction that President Trump “had little respect for the law.”
Rosenberg, who will step down on October 1, was a holdover from the Obama Administration. He’s been running the agency in an acting capacity since 2015, when he took over for then-DEA Administrator Michelle Leonhart. Leonhart resigned over her mishandling of a scandal involving DEA agents and prostitutes. Leonhart had also disagreed strongly with how President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder handled state-legal marijuana.
Rosenberg moved over to guide the DEA after serving as chief of staff to then-FBI Director James Comey. Comey was fired by President Trump earlier this year, and the action did nothing to improve the relationship between the President and his acting DEA administrator. When Trump suggested that police “please don’t be too nice” when handling criminal suspects, Rosenberg rejected his comments in an email sent to DEA employees. “We have an obligation to speak out when something is wrong,” he wrote.

Will Trump allow release of JFK assassination papers?
Scholars are eagerly awaiting the anticipated release of thousands of never-before-seen government documents related to President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
Now, they're waiting to see whether President Donald Trump will block the release of files that could shed light on a tragedy that has stirred conspiracy theories for decades.
The National Archives has until October 26 to disclose the remaining files related to Kennedy's 1963 assassination, unless Trump intervenes.
The CIA and FBI, whose records make up the bulk of the batch, won't say whether they've appealed to the Republican president to keep them under wraps.

Pending Home Sales Plunge; NAR Admits "The Housing Market Has Essentially Stalled"
After dismal drops in existing and new home sales, this morning's pending home sales data for August was a disaster, tumbling 2.6% MoM (3.1% YoY) to its lowest SAAR since January 2016.
This is the second YoY decline in sales in a row, with SAAR tumbling to its lowest since Jan 2016..
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, says this summer’s terribly low supply levels have officially drained all of the housing market’s momentum over the past year.
“August was another month of declining contract activity because of the one-two punch of limited listings and home prices rising far above incomes,” he said.
“Demand continues to overwhelm supply in most of the country, and as a result, many would-be buyers from earlier in the year are still in the market for a home, while others have perhaps decided to temporarily postpone their search.”
With little relief expected from the housing shortages that continue to plague several areas, Yun believes the housing market has essentially stalled.

Crowd Boos As Entire Cowboys Team, Owner, & G.M. 'Take A Knee' In Arizona
In an apparent demonstration of unity, the entire Dallas Cowboys team, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, as well as executive vice presidents Stephen Jones, Charlotte Anderson and Jerry Jones Jr., all decided to 'take a knee', notably before the national anthem was sung.
Boos were heard from the crowd in Arizona which reportedly included a large number of Dallas fans...
"...as they take a knee collectively, boos can be heard from this sell-out crowd in Arizona..."
As ESPN reports, Jerry Jones and his daughter, Charlotte Jones Anderson, said their players wanted to take a knee as a statement for equality and unity, but also wanted to separate that message from the national anthem.

Sen. Bob Corker Announces Retirement One Day After Breitbart Reports on His $3 Million Swamp Deal
Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) announced late Tuesday afternoon he will not be seeking re-election to a third term in the Senate in 2018, just hours before polls were scheduled to close in the Alabama U.S. Senate Republican runoff election between conservative Judge Roy Moore and Corker’s establishment ally, Senator Luther Strange (R-AL).
Corker’s surprising announcement came one day after the publication of the third story in a series by Breitbart News that documented his sweetheart deal investment in a Mobile, Alabama retail center arranged by a law firm that donated $28,000 to Luther Strange’s Senate campaign. In that deal, Corker is expected to receive more than $3 million in sales tax payments made by Alabama consumers to the City of Mobile over the next twenty years as part of a sales tax rebate incentive to a development company in which Corker has a 13 percent ownership interest.
Corker has made a number of high profile political missteps over the past several years that have hurt his approval ratings among likely Tennessee Republican primary voters.

Bill O'Reilly Stuns On Hannity
Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly appeared on “Hannity” Tuesday, addressing the beliefs of the far-left in America.
“They’re after–they don’t want capitalism. They don’t want the electoral college. They don’t want white people…generally calling the shots. So they have to mobilize minority Americans to be angry,” O’Reilly told Sean Hannity.
O’Reilly also claimed that far-left agents, which he believes to be “evil,” want to “destroy the Constitution” by changing it.
“‘Who forged it? Slave owners — Thomas Jefferson, George Washington. We can’t have a Constitution that they made — we have to have a new one!’ That’s the end game,” O’Reilly said.

Mo Brooks on NFL Protest Controversy: Terminate Any Federal Support of Professional Football
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said on Tuesday that the federal government should not financially support the NFL because of players’ disrespectful “take a knee” protests during the national anthem.
“I believe we ought to terminate all federal government support of the NFL,” Brooks told Breitbart News following the Conversations with Conservatives event at the Capitol. “That would include the termination of any and all advertising that is done on behalf of the federal government — military and non-military — to the extent we do any.”
“The same thing with any other professional sport that insults our country and our flag and our anthem as the NFL has done,” said Brooks, who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
CNN Money reported in 2015 the NFL teams get “billions in subsidies from U.S. taxpayers.”

All that kneeling ignores the real cause of soaring black homicides
The FBI released its official crime tally for 2016 on Monday, and the data flies in the face of the rhetoric that professional athletes rehearsed in revived Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend.
Nearly 900 additional blacks were killed in 2016 compared with 2015, bringing the black homicide victim total to 7,881. Those 7,881 “black bodies,” in the parlance of Ta-Nehisi Coates, are 1,305 more than the number of white victims (which in this case includes most Hispanics) for the same period, though blacks are only 13 percent of the nation’s population.
The increase in black homicides last year comes on top of a previous 900-victim increase between 2014 and 2015.
Who is killing these black victims? Not whites, and not the police, but other blacks.

Record $135 billion a year for illegal immigration, average $8,075 each, $25,000 in NY
The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the the most authoritative report on the issue yet.
And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion.
State and local governments are getting ravaged by the costs, at over $88 billion. The federal government, by comparison, is getting off easy at $45 billion in costs for illegals.
President Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and conservatives in Congress are moving aggressively to deal with illegals, especially those with long criminal records. But their effort is being fought by courts and some 300 so-called "sanctuary communities" that refuse to work with federal law enforcement.

A county-level grand jury in Ohio indicted several foreign nationals for election fraud related to the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections.
Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced Thursday that the Franklin County Grand Jury returned indictments against seven foreign nationals who allegedly voted illegally in recent U.S. elections.
Originally, the Secretary of State and Ohio Attorney General referred 36 cases to O’Brien’s office of non-citizens who “had registered and/or voted in recent elections in Franklin County.”
After further investigation by the Board of Elections and Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, seven foreign nationals, who were not U.S. citizens, were criminally charged “for registering and voting in elections” in Franklin County.

Strange Endorsement Is Just the Latest Awful Advice Trump Received from Jared Kushner
To no one’s surprise, President Donald Trump is apparently “furious” over his woefully misguided decision to go all-in for Luther Strange in Alabama’s U.S. Senate primary.
It was a decision that blew spectacularly up in the president’s face last night with Strange’s massive 10-point loss to Roy Moore, an outsider much closer in spirit to Trumpism than establishment crony Strange.
In what is becoming a disturbing pattern, Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner was apparently one of those who advised the president to back Strange, to once again sail into big, jagged rocks — a humiliation for Trump that anyone with any real-world political sense should have (and did) seen coming from a mile away.
Appointed under shady circumstances, Strange is a walking-talking poster child for everything Trump ran against, a good ole’ boy, Republican establishment backslapper strongly backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has done nothing but post failure after failure since Trump’s inauguration.
What makes this Kushner catastrophe even more notable than the others (which I will get to), is that this time Trump led with his chin, was out there publicly championing a sure-loser, and most importantly, was doing so in defiance of his own base.
For the first time since he stepped into the political arena, Trump did not look like a leader, he looked led — he looked like a weak politician being handled and manipulated..

Breaking News: Tom Price, the health secretary, has resigned.
Already in trouble with Mr. Trump for months of unsuccessful efforts to repeal and replace President Barack Obama’s health care program, Mr. Price failed to defuse the president’s anger over his high-priced travel by agreeing to pay a portion of the cost and expressing “regret” for his actions. |

Some Wounded Warriors Can't Take a Knee, NFL
Whenever I hear about NFL players who take a knee during the national anthem, I am reminded of the double amputees that have returned from America’s wars and the fact that while, because of their sacrifice over centuries, we are entitled to speak freely, none of us are entitled to a particular forum.
NFL players are employees of a larger organization, just like Curt Shilling was when ESPN fired him for what he thought was protected speech. The speech is protected. Your access to a particular forum is not. They are teammates in a sport that pays these allegedly oppressed spoiled brats millions. Their teammates may share a different view, so does the locker room become a game prep area or a debating society? Does the field remain a sporting arena or a campaign rally? Those who take a knee were indeed given that right by many who no longer have knees and are privileged to take a knee in a sport paid for by millions of fans who may disagree with them and who paid to see a game, not a protest. Players who take a knee think they are being patriotic, when they are merely being elf-indulgent and selfish. Go rent out a stadium and invite people to pay just to see you take a knee and see if anybody shows up. The response by the NFL Players Association is disingenuous:
