What Julian Assange Says About Our Journalists

By Thornton Crowe

He looks like a grown-up Doogie but behind this controversial figure lies a telling tale that exposes not only the government figures in his explosive leaks but also the shambles America media has become over the last three decades.

In many discussions since the Vault 7 release, one common thread found among all of them is this: Julian Assange makes America's Press seem to be an impotent joke, so bad that we are forced to depend on someone else to do their work and report the truth.

Think about it, people wait for these leaks to come forth through his Wikileaks because we all know the lamestream media fails to do serious investigative reporting anymore. We hang on every trove with anticipation because we know the information is reliable given their impeccable 100% accuracy rate to date. The only fault found is the people in our government are being exposed en mass and they don't like this exposure one bit. Hence the reason why they get in front of the cameras and make proclamations about how Assange should go to prison.

The real deal is the press no longer is here for America; just a newsletter for the Democratic National Committee, which contains fake news, lies and smear campaigns - nothing of any substance whatsoever. We can't even depend on them to deliver reasonably accurate weather reporting as we saw many times with our WBOC buddy Dan.

In an article early this week, it was exposed that even our local media is negligent in reporting area crime, opting to prop up the City Hall "version" of the statistics rather than the real deal. This leaves our community vulnerable and unnecessary violence to continue against an unsuspecting citizenry. This is a dereliction of duty beyond reproach.

Getting back to Julian...

Now we wait for some dude in London's Ecuadorian embassy to deliver our news and tell us where the problems are -- when those problems are located less than 100 miles away. Yes, only a mere 90 miles away there lies a world that contains the incubus of most Americans' woes right now. And isn't it a travesty that we must depend on foreigners who are thousands of miles away to get accurate reporting on what's happening in our own backyard?

It reflects very badly on what American's media outlets have become over the last thirty years. It used to be, back in the day, reporters cared about getting good stories. They held dear things like journalistic integrity. Walter Cronkite was the most credible and trusted man in America when he anchored CBS Nightly News and we all believed everything he said. It was without question.

Now days, all we get is press releases retooled into some idiot meme which makes no sense given the reality we see right before our eyes. More opinions than news. More cheerleading than holding DC accountable - which is what we were always led to believe they were supposed to fulfill in our society.

Today, Deep Throat wouldn't even bother with today's Washington Post or New York Times...

The leakers are now going to Assange's organization because they can't trust anyone in our media to actually report what they've been told about our government or protect their identity. How many leakers have been exposed by the very person they entrusted with the truth? This is a horrible situation with a Catch-22 feel because if they don't leak, America moves forward blind and if they do leak, they might get Sethed or Fostered.

Another telling feature of Assange is the people who want him dead or prosecuted as it reveals who has much to lose by his leaking faucets. People like McCain, Graham, Pelosi, Schumer, Clinton, Obama and Chaffetz all have things to hide from the people. They are desperate to silence him or at least, his organization. Best to look to these people and wonder just what it is they're afraid he'll reveal.

For many, Assange is a hero, whom should be revered but the majority miss the point that it also illustrates we have no heroes in our own media. Therefore, our government on all levels has no checks and balances to keep them honest.

All we have is waiting for the next tell-all release.

I guess, for now, we'll have to stay turned for more Vault 7 coming out in the next few weeks. Revealed through several outlets and sources, the findings are shocking and will potentially rewrite our history as we've known it forever.

How say you?

  2. I agree with 7:43;Assange is indeed a hero, but Snowden is not,and their paths are about to cross. My hope is that Assange has no part of it,because the nature of their disclosures are vastly different. One defends our national security (in a way)and the other threatens it.Assange is also Snowdens' hero, but all of us (I hope) would like for them to remain as far apart as possible.Assange works best alone.

  3. Is it any wonder our country is so divided. With a press that is used as a mouth piece for any politician. Any political figure can get on camera and blurt out any garbage they want. Then the talking heads will debate what that politician meant. I am always skeptical of any news story containing the words would, could, should, might, maybe, or my favorite "in my opinion". These are not words of fact. They are words of speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 905 the talking heads debate fodder and that's about it. When it comes to real dialogue about issues, they stem mostly from the Leaks that come through Wikileaks. For all intensive purposes, Wikileaks has replaced the media so they're pretty upset with this new outlet that usurps their former glory. If they were wise, they would investigate the info revealed and expand on it rather than trying to discredit credibility.

    1. Where does Mr Albero get his news? What I see of his National and World news is copied and pasted from other National and World news sources, which according to Mr Crowe, are unreliable. I have known for years the difference between Liberal news reporting and conservative news reporting, is who is doing the news. IMO each report twist and turns the wording to favor "their side" with very little actual facts.

With local news Mr Albero reports what he hears from unknown sources. There may be some truth in his reporting local news but by the time the anonymous people write their "I heards" and vilify people. places and things, there is no truth to be found. He lacks comments disagreeing with him and also does not post information from those who question news items. Mr Albero's chastising of Dan, DT, WBOC, etc, daily is not news. He writes such trash to get the masses in an uproar to write more trashing comments. which gives him opportunity to point out SBYNews is the better place for News.
I read the DT, I watch WBOC, I listen to Dan's weather, I read SBYNews and other blogs. I also Google a lot to see what others have to say, or to find out the other side of the story, or to obtain more information on an item that has piqued my curiosity. One does not get all the facts reading just one source.

  6. Many outlets like Breitbart are looking into this and you have Right Side which has morphed into another media conglomerate.

Hopefully Ailes will not be restrained for much longer through non-competes in order to start what he did with Fox News'soroginal premise. Murdoch's sons are venturing away from the original focus to join MSM ranks everyday. Sad.

  8. Many misunderstand that Julian's job is collecting information and vetting it. True journalism does this without any personal statements involved. The MSM would be best to make that distinction and live by it because that's what true journalism is all about- not political punditry.

    ReplyDelete
  9. A distinct difference between Assange and the press is that he obtains his information ILLEGALLY. not that some at major news sources don't, but maybe there's a smiggin of integrity left in journalism, aside from political punditry.
If we promote the illegal possession of top secret material and herald its dissemination, what good are state secrets for protecting the republic?
I see both sides, but there are times that secrets should remain close to the vest. IMHO

  10. Our own Daily Times, has for years, printed "stories" best suited for the opinion page on the front page as news. They have perpetrated many a lie.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Actually 942, this is incorrect. He does not obtain his information illegally. The Leakers are the illegal entity but then again, so was Deep Throat during the Watergate investigation. Once again, you review the absolute brainwashing that perpetuates from the MSM disciples and lacks common sense. The government is not going to ever willingly hand over this information that they've been spying on law abiding citizens and letting criminals go because the evidence they collect is done unconstitutionally and therefore, inadmissible in a court of law. Unfortunately, you are on the wrong side of the issue and luckily, most Americans do not agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 942 so you're suggesting that it's okay for the government to deprive you of all privacy? Seriously? You really should look into countries more like your own thoughts. Cuba is open for travel with US now, would suggest if you want to live in a fascist regime you relocate to that area.

People like 942 would rather live with head firmly planted in the sand dunes and then bitch that they are spied on and treated like a puppet. Its demonstrative of the Liberals who don't get it. They just spew garbage and then walk away without any expectation of repercussions. Just saw on F&F the liberals are now talking about walking away from their Russian nonsense because they're afraid it will be made partisan. Such BS is brimming over and people like nutcase 942 buy it hook, line and sinker.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 9:42, The first question is it really "illegal"? Or the information is being withheld from the citizens under the excuse of 'national security'
and covering up criminal, unconstitutional and immoral acts and behavior?
The only real threat to our Country is our own government and the Deep State!

    ReplyDelete
  15. 1005 is spot on. The fact is the Deep State has been covering this activity and doing it at taxpayers' expense. Now, they've lost control of that technology and its in the hands of God knows who, but you can bet whoever has it is not going to use it for humanitarian reasons or without some malice.

  16. There are no real heroes in America today with the exception of a very few. Most people look towards Hollywood for their icons which are seriously flawed at best. They buy the PR hype without realizing it's all generated by a publicist and not based on actual actions. It's a shame that so many gullible people in our society still believe celebrities are set a part from everyone else when the truth is they are just doing a job.

    As for msm, why would you expect any integrity from these corporations {nearly all msn} that are owned in part and full...by members of congress {did you forget this vital fact?} Members of congress have shares and stocks in many things...msn, ACA, many health care venue's {thats why their taking so long to override obumacare {so they can re-invest their money in new stocks and companies}
Our government and the shadow/deep state...has become so very corrupt, our only hope/chance is the worst are exposed and destroyed.

  19. Question: if someone like Jake Tapper or Bob Woodward had done exactly what Assange is doing, would people be so quick to label it illegal?

Don't recalled Woodward and Bernstein being accused of illegal activity during their Watergate exposes in the Washington Post. What makes Assange so different? He just has thousands of Deep Throats not just one. And we don't see any schmultzy Hollywood glitz coming out and producing a feature film when All The President's Men was both a book and a movie.

"Unfortunately, you are on the wrong side of the issue and luckily, most Americans do not agree with you."

I am on the same side of this issue as you, but I challenge the statement that most Americans agree.

The majority of Americans are not talking about the substance of the leaks and haven't a clue. That is the real problem. And then they are exposed to a relentless barrage of Deep State Official Narrative BS emanating from the boob tube. The sheer magnitude even on a casual basis is bound to shape the opinions of the mostly brain-dead masses. I'll give you a perfect example. I usually have WBOC on when I'm getting ready for work in the morning in the hope that I can at least get some idea of what the temperature is going to be that day. When CBS this morning comes on at 7:00 AM, they start by doing "Your World in 90 Seconds", which always has several items slamming the Trump administration and usually finishes on a "light note" with a clip or two from the late night shows. Since it's CBS they always have a clip from Colbert, who night after night does a Trump a Russian puppet joke. Think about the impact of this repetition drilled into the minds of the sheeple.

For the people that get it, we need to relentlessly get the word out.

    Thornton, great column!

You speak of getting "Sethed". Don't you find it highly unusual the the gun grabbing left didn't seize on his violent death during the campaign and use it for their agenda. Do you think since he was one of their own they had the decency to be respectable and not use his to further their narrative?

HA, HA! Rather, that's just another episode that Hillary and the DNC want quietly swept under the rug, and it's not hard to figure out why.

  22. For those who say Snowden compromised security of our nation, I want to hear specifically how. Many whistle-blowers came before him for years and they tried to work within the law and were all crushed. The information Snowden released was done in such as way deliberately to not reveal sources and detailed methods, but still provide enough evidence to show the extensive Gummint criminality.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Edward Snowden only confirmed what others have been saying since the Patriot Act was enacted. Even the head of DHS who spent time in jail for exposing the gross overreach has verified his information. If we didn't have whistleblowers, the corporation would be allowed to run without worry of repercussions. People like Snowden and Assange are put here for a reason. If you believe in Divine intervention then you must see their purpose within the threats of everything going on right now. Time to drain the swamp, but first, we must figure out which persons are rodents in order to flush them out.

  24. Where local news outlets are concerned, mine is a no-confidence vote even extending to the weather reports.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 10:23AM, true. Had it been Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, Barbara Walters or Katie Couric that uncovered this information and reported it to the public, it probably wouldn't receive near the sneers and jeers because most people are programmed to believe our media regardless of their gross dereliction in duty to the public. The unfortunate downside is when they have something viable that will need to be believed, will we believe them? Probably not.

The fact that Julian is a 'foreigner' makes him more susceptible to scrutiny but it doesn't diminish his information and its importance to our society.

    ReplyDelete
  26. America's newsrooms today measure news in optics. It has nothing to do with giving information out to the people and letting them decide for themselves what's right vs. wrong. Optics and opinion polls rule over real information and facts.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cherry-picked news has been going on since the days of FDR. All the White House Press Core knew he was unable to walk but no one said a peep about it. They kept his handicap a great secret because the WH told them to do so. The same holds true for JFK and his opiate addiction and womanizing. The press has corrupted information and lied by omission throughout history but it's been particularly bad during this last three campaigns when their any sense of unbiasedness was stripped away.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 10:59, LMAO!

Where do I get my news. Well, all one has to do is click on MORE and it will take you directly to our sources.

"their side", One of the really cool part about SBYNews is the fact that YOU are allowed to comment anonymously as to how YOU feel about each article we have chosen to publish without the fear of any kind of retaliation. Ultimately you get comments that are truthful, how people really feel. Do we agree to everything we publish, NO! Example, every press release put out by former Governor O'Malley.

"Unknown Sources" You are absolutely NUTS! You must be in the news business because you are absolutely clueless. I personally have every single one of our sources. I do NOT publish their names because everyone coming here knows for a fact that either the EBT Blogger or YOU local news sources will race to our source and steal the news WE obtained. We also refuse to publish names because of the massive retaliation so many have experienced over the year.

"no truth to be found", REALLY? How convenient for you to say, yet you never once offered a single example and you're very lucky I not only published your comment but I have also responded to your total BS.

As for Dan, WBOC, WMDT or the DT's, Dan constantly gets the weather wrong, that's a fact. As for the other media sources, do you really believe you are getting the TRUTH from them? If you do, please, continue to enjoy the brainwashing. Have you EVER heard ANY of them mention Section 8 or Affordable Housing Downtown? Do you not realize they are covering for the Mayor who is going to completely destroy whatever is left of Downtown Salisbury. Don't you think it's unfair that they do not tell you the truth ad that is just one example. Crime is yet another major issue. But again, you believe what you want, yet you still come to SBYNews, go figure.

There's no "other side" of their stories. If that were the case they would have called me multiple times to get my side, when they CLAIM the local Blog, (not SBYNews) got it wrong. They simply run with whatever the Mayor, Sheriff, Police Chief say and that's final.

The local main stream media is covering up a ton of crime, assaults, rapes, section 8, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Fire Departments & Staff. Just because SBYNews has enough stones to challenge them with FACTS, if you want to believe what these elected officials are telling you, well, you go right ahead. Funny though, 10 years from now you'll be saying, OMG, Joe was right. Just as I have done for the past 10 years.

Are you swimming in the River? Is the Waste Water Treatment Plant working? Did the Firefighters RETIRE like they said they would? I could go on and on. I've been right and they've been wrong, period.

  29. "With local news Mr Albero reports what he hears from unknown sources."

1059, you really think sources are going to be sources if they are afraid their identity is revealed? The nature of a source is their identity is shielded for their protection because people will possibly want to hurt them or extort them. We didn't know who Deep Throat was for decades but you weren't on SBYNEWS yammering on and on about why that went down like it did.

    Can you say, "Common Sense?"

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey, 1059, are there rainbows and unicorns in your world? Just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 1059 why do you bother reading SbyNews if you don't feel the information you're getting is up to your standards? Wouldn't you say that's a waste of your time? I agree with 1135, and are those rainbows and unicorns part-timers or full-timers?

    ReplyDelete
  32. The majority of the news media is owned by people like Soros. They have an agenda to push. And they succeeded for many years while few complained about their one-sided stories and comments. It was obvious during this past election. But now the Internet provides many sources of the other side of the story. And people are taking notice. And now we have Trump as POTUS.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Folks, I belive ALL news sources need to be checked out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1142, while your post is nice, there's one deep flaw. In truthful reporting there's no 'other side' or 'story.' Facts aren't boxes, they don't have sides. They are as they are and no amount of wordsmithing can change them.

Basic fact: Our government including agencies that are not supposed to do so without a warrant, are spying on American citizens who are not liberal. They use all kinds of technology to do this spying without interest or care that the info they are extracting is illegally obtained. Baseline: They do not respect our Constitution.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Uh, 1059, Google said it was going to start censoring searches and down ranking sites they called fake news based on Media Matters (owned by Soros) so what does that mean to you, cupcake?

  37. You know something, I need to add this comment as well.

When you read the Daily Times and it says, "AP", that's a COPY & PASTE story, NOT original.

When you watch the local news and they're constantly showing you stories from D.C., New York, Chicago and wherever else in the country and even around the world, IT'S COPY AND PASTE, not original content.

So please, stop your BS about how and where we get our stories from. At LEAST we link back to the original source. ALL of the local media take stories right from SBYNews, (put out hours and sometimes days ahead of them) and NEVER credit us for it.

The funny part is, every one of you know they were tipped off by SBYNews and that in itself is hilarious! A couple people running a 24 hour BLOG up against hundreds of well paid employees and go figure, we always get it first and or original.

    ReplyDelete

  38. I would venture that the government is spying on all people
within our borders, be they Liberals, Moderates, Conservatives
or Commies. This is how they control and influence the masses.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 12:35, If it was so easy there'd be a lot more people doing what I do.

The one reason SBYNews does so well is because we PROTECT our sources.

Your local media doesn't give a damn about protecting anybody. Their excuse to NOT report the TRUTH is based on NO ONE is willing to step up and put their name and face on a story, hence the severe lack of local news and information.

The only people, (for example) WBOC can get to go on camera are toothless underprivileged people at a gas station on Rt. 13 north of Laurel DE. or people in a trailer park complex.

People know they will be retaliated against, therefore REPUTABLE people would NEVER give even WBOC the time of day. So who do they have left for sources, camera whores like Mike Lewis, Jake Day, Barbara Duncan, Jim Ireton and so forth. You know, crime is down and you can swim in the river in 10 years.

We are the #1 News Source because we protect our sources and that really pisses off elected officials because they can't touch them. Just imagine if ALL of the Firefighters were required to put their names on their comments recently. FUNNY how we're the best source to go for when both sides want to anonymously bitch and complain but God Forbid I do a story with an ambulance and fire truck at a local restaurant where a dozen firefighters are eating dinner, then I'm an a-hole.

So no matter what is said, I am #1 because EVERYONE comes here, no matter how much they LIE and say they don't.
