The New York Times reports President Trump is looking at proposals for reducing U.S. funding for the United Nations and scaling back U.N. influence over American foreign policy.
The first of the two draft orders, titled “Auditing and Reducing U.S. Funding of International Organizations” and obtained by The New York Times, calls for terminating funding for any United Nations agency or other international body that meets any one of several criteria.
Those criteria include organizations that give full membership to the Palestinian Authority or Palestine Liberation Organization, or support programs that fund abortion or any activity that circumvents sanctions against Iran or North Korea. The draft order also calls for terminating funding for any organization that “is controlled or substantially influenced by any state that sponsors terrorism” or is blamed for the persecution of marginalized groups or any other systematic violation of human rights.
The order calls for then enacting “at least a 40 percent overall decrease” in remaining United States funding toward international organizations.

20 Trillion in debt!
ReplyDeleteThe question must be asked Does the USA have the funding to continue to support the UN? NO.
However, we (USA) are still nice and will politically play well this fiscal year so we will decrease our yearly allotment by 40%. On the bright side, something is better than NOTHING, politically speaking!
We'll address next years funding - next year. But I'll clue you in on something, our 20 Trillion dollar debt will still be around so expect your allotment next year to be even LESS than you received this year!!!!!!!
Cut the funding and get them out of the US. DEMO the UN building and make it a new office for Boarder Patrol
ReplyDeleteLike a breath of fresh air. Finally something being done about blood sucking and debt maker UN. THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP.
ReplyDeleteThe UN doesn't have any influence over American foreign policy. We have full veto power, we do exactly whatever the hell we want. The UN is one of the ways *we* influence the foreign policies of *other nations*.
ReplyDeleteIts the same with "foreign aid". The amount of control and influence that that foreign aid gives us is a bargain at twice the price. We give it away to make them dependent on us, then we have the threat of taking it away.
Giving either of those things up is foolish, and chips away at our position as the most powerful country in the world.
Shut it down!
ReplyDeleteWe need to get out of the UN altogether. The Organization isn't doing anything close to what was promised after the Second World War. They have let so much human tragedy and wars continue. They are as far from a Peacekeeping outfit as we could ever get. Dissolve the charter, evict from NYC and move on. Problem Solved.
