President Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump sparked headlines when they boarded Marine One and headed for an unknown destination on Wednesday.
Reporters demanded to know where the president was going, but many of them fell silent when they found out he was headed to Dover Air Force Base to join the family of Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens — who was killed during a nighttime raid on an al-Qaeda-held village in Yemen over the weekend — in receiving his remains.
Until Wednesday afternoon, the trip was unannounced.
Owens, who is from Peoria, Ill., was killed Saturday in an intelligence-gathering mission.
“Ryan gave his full measure for our nation, and in performing his duty, he upheld the noblest standard of military service,” Secretary of Defense James Mattis said in a statement.
“The United States would not long exist were it not for the selfless commitment of such warriors.”

That boys and girls is what a true leader does....no publicity involved....only compassion...
ReplyDeleteThe MSM clones are soulless. They'll find a way to denigrate Trump's visit, or, worse, disparage the deceased.
ReplyDeleteReal President's do this others play golf and go on vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteClass act that we haven't seen in 8 years. Way to honor the troops
ReplyDeleteJust watched the swearing in of Rex Tillerson. Trump looked very sober and solemn. I think the visit to Dover took a real toll on him. Welcome to being the Commander in Chief and all that it means. Very tough I'm sure, but so proud he went. No media, private as family wished. Class act Mr. President.
ReplyDeleteA true leader.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mr. President for sharing our sympathy directly with the family members.
Yes, a true leader. I am loving my new President! Thank you, Mr. Trump for your Patriotism!
ReplyDelete7:01. Obama made dozens of similar trips to Dover over the past 8 years to honor fallen soldiers. Very glad to see Trump doing this as well. This is one of the great burdens of the presidency and I can't think of any modern president who hasn't handled this with decorum, respect and tact. Not sure what makes this visit more of a "class act" tham all prior Presidential trips to Dover.
ReplyDeleteScore one for the the Donald !
ReplyDeleteA true Patriot and Leader. Job done, respects paid, no pompous filagree involved, back to work that evening.
ReplyDeleteI am so loving every day of my life with this man at the helm!
Now this is what a real president does for families of our fallen men and women. God Bless the family and God Bless our new president.
ReplyDeleteGod bless our new President.
ReplyDelete8:26 Obama's visits were always televised and made news headlines. Obvious bias in the way the press covers a Republican President vs. a Democrat.
ReplyDeleteObama did a lot of these secret trips and the Media kept quiet about them....he was always sneaking off to go to the Masque and pray with his fellow Muslims!
ReplyDeleteObama is putting our military at risk right now as people all over the world are watching the protests and riots - all encouraged by Obama. If this leads to another war, we will certainly have someone to blame along with the other democrats who hate our new President and wish him to fail.
ReplyDelete8:26 I'll tell you. hildabeast and obummer used these occasions as photo ops nothing more. Remember when the remains were brought back from the attack on our embassy in Benghazi? Your welcome.
