Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to cut thousands of back-office positions around the country, a sign that the retailer’s effort to make its cavernous stores more efficient is also changing the face of its workforce.
The largest private employer in the U.S. is eliminating about 7,000 store accounting and invoicing positions over the next several months. The jobs are mostly held by long-term employees, often some of the highest paid hourly workers in stores. The retailer wants those employees working with shoppers, not in backrooms, say company executives. Centralizing or automating most of their current tasks is more efficient, they say.
The jobs are coveted as a rare desk job in retail. “You are not running around the store on your feet all day” and receive decent pay, said a Wal-Mart store accounting employee who earns about $13 an hour, or $27,000 a year. “Everybody wants to get in there. The jobs never open up,” said this person, who has worked at the store for nine years.

First Broom Handle, Then Knife Threat
OCEAN CITY — An Ocean City man was arrested on assault and other charges last week after first hitting another man with a broom handle and then threatening him with a knife during an altercation that allegedly began when the victim refused to sell the suspect his beer.
Around 2:30 a.m. last Thursday, Ocean City police responded to an apartment complex near 15th Street for a reported altercation involving a knife threat. According to police reports, the victim and other individuals were sitting at a picnic table near a canal in a common area of the apartment complex when they were approached by a suspect later identified as Nemanja Rosic, 23, of Ocean City.
Rosic approached the group and demanded the victim sell him his beer, a demand the victim refused. According to witnesses, Rosic then became irate and went to a second-floor apartment and began throwing beer containers at the victim, who was still at the picnic table with friends. The victim then went into a nearby apartment to get away from Rosic, but Rosic allegedly grabbed a broom and followed the victim into the apartment and began striking him with the broom handle.
According to police reports, the victim was able to grab a mop and defend himself from Rosic’s attack with the broom before a full-scale altercation broke out between the two. After a brief fight, Rosic left the apartment and the victim locked the door. According to police reports, Rosic then entered another ground-floor apartment and emerged with a kitchen knife.

Georgetown to Give Slave Descendants Priority for Admission
WASHINGTON — Georgetown University will give preference in admissions to the descendants of slaves owned by the Maryland Jesuits as part of its effort to atone for profiting from the sale of enslaved people.
Georgetown president John DeGioia told news outlets that the university in Washington will implement the admissions preferences. He says Georgetown will need to identify and reach out to descendants of slaves and recruit them to the university.
On Thursday morning, a university committee released a report that also called on its leaders to offer a formal apology for the university’s participation in the slave trade.
In 1838, two priests who served as president of the university orchestrated the sale of 272 people to pay off debts at the school. The slaves were sent from Maryland to plantations in Louisiana.
The university says it will give descendants of those slaves “the same consideration we give members of the Georgetown community” when they apply.
Georgetown President John DeGioia penned a letter to students and facultyThursday, writing, “I believe the most appropriate ways for us to redress the participation of our predecessors in the institution of slavery is to address the manifestations of the legacy of slavery in our time.”

Hacked Pelosi Memo: Obama Helped Create ISIS
Obama's withdrawal of forces from Iraq exacerbated ISIS recruitment
Memos obtained by hacker Guccifer 2.0 from former House minority leader Nancy Pelosi’s computer appear to suggest Obama administration policies did indeed lead to the rise of ISIS, as pointed out by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“In short: Our [2003] invasion created the atmosphere for a Jordanian to start a Muslim sectarian war, which ultimately created ISIS,” the October 2014 memo from Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee policy director Mike Ryan states.
The leaked memo reveals the state of affairs “worsened after U.S. troops left Iraq, helping quickly deteriorate the situation further” and give way to the rise of ISIS.

State fines Md. liquor chain for selling below minimum price
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is fining a Maryland-based liquor store chain $37,500 for violating state law on minimum pricing of alcohol.
The chain, Total Wine & More, currently is suing the state in federal court, challenging the decades-old law that prohibits retailers from selling wine and liquor below a minimum price.
The Connecticut Package Store Association recently filed a formal complaint, accusing Total Wine & More of already selling below the minimum price. The association has successfully fended up numerous legislative attempts to scrap the law.

Trump Slams 'No Stamina' Hillary For Not Visiting Mexico
"She doesn't have the drive".
As Hillary Clinton’s campaign released a video criticizing the GOP nominee over his visit to Mexico, Donald Trump hit back saying Hillary doesn’t have enough stamina to even consider such a trip.
Trump took to Twitter to praise the hospitality of the Mexican people, and couldn’t resist taking a swipe at ‘Hiding Hillary’ for not making a similar trip, or even visiting troubled Louisiana, as he did last week.

Like A Boss – Donald Trump Delivered Stunningly Impressive “America First” Remarks in Mexico…
A fearless American went to Mexico and unapologetically nailed his position on the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico
How good were the remarks? Well, lets just say… we can fully anticipate the liberal U.S. media to go into combat mode; because candidate Donald J Trump articulated a full-throated, unapologetic and yet resoundingly ‘diplomatic’ America-First message to Mexican President Peña Nieto….
….and that’s just what he did publicly.

Officer who shot Maryland woman involved in prior shooting
TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Police in Baltimore County, Maryland, say an officer who fatally shot a woman after an hours-long standoff was also involved in a shooting in 2007.
In a statement Thursday, the department identified the officer only by his last name, Ruby. The officer has been with the department for 16 years. Police Chief Jim Johnson had previously declined to identify the officer who shot 23-year-old Korryn Gaines, citing threats against the department.
Gaines, who was black, was killed on Aug. 1 after she pointed a shotgun at officers trying to serve an arrest warrant in Randallstown, a Baltimore suburb. Her 5-year-old son was with her and was injured. Her death led to protests affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Baltimore police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said that in 2007, Ruby was one of two officers who shot and killed 24-year-old Adam Benjamin Rothstein after he pointed what turned out to be a pellet gun at the officers. Armacost said officers received a call on Aug. 19 for a suicidal man who’d told the 911 dispatcher that he had guns, knives, pepper spray and a Taser.

Abedin responded positively to the donor inquiries, according to the email.
The donors in question include Doug Band and Justin Cooper. The email indicates that Band reached out to Abedin in 2009, when she served as deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Department of State, and asked for her help in obtaining diplomatic passports for him, Cooper, and a third individual identified only by their initials.
“We had them years ago but they lapsed and we didn’t bother getting them,” Band wrote.

Maryland State Police Prepare for High Traffic Volume This Labor Day Weekend
The Maryland State Police are anticipating higher traffic volume and warning drivers they can expect enforcement of speed, occupant restraint and most importantly DUI laws this Labor Day weekend.
As summer ends and Labor Day weekend approaches, many celebrants will be celebrating with friends and family. In efforts to increase safety the State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Effort team and troopers statewide will be out in force focusing efforts on impaired, distracted, and aggressive drivers. This effort is intended to reduce traffic crashes and the resulting injuries and deaths on Maryland roads. The Maryland State Police remind drivers all year, but especially during our extend holiday weekends, that drinking alcohol and driving is never a good choice.
“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a high visibility enforcement campaign, which runs from August 19 to September 5, 2016. During this period Maryland State Police and local law enforcement will be working together to save lives and will have zero tolerance for drunk driving.
Operation SHOWBOAT will be underway this Labor Day weekend, focusing on aggressive driving, crash reduction, and impaired driving. Operation SHOWBOAT will concentrate its efforts on U.S. Route 50 from Anne Arundel County to Ocean City and U.S. Route 13 in Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester counties. In addition state police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols.
As Maryland State Troopers continue to support the Maryland Department of Transportation’s campaign “Toward Zero Deaths,” motorists need to be aware of the dangers of alcohol. Alcohol takes effect quickly and wears off slowly. It tends to reduce one’s control, judgment, and coordination. In addition, perceptual abilities, speech and speed of reflexes can be impaired.
Impaired drivers can face jail time, lose their driver’s licenses, incur higher insurance rates, and dozens of other expenses ranging from attorney fees, court costs, car towing and repairs, to lost wages due to time off from work. Even worse, a drunk driver can claim someone’s life, or even their own.
Please follow these tips to keep Maryland roads safe this Labor Day Weekend:

Matt Lauer Will Moderate The First Forum Between Donald Trump And Hillary Clinton
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, NBC News and MSNBC — along with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America — will host the the Commander-in-Chief Forum in New York City.
It will be a one-hour forum where Clinton and Trump will answer questions about national security, military affairs and veterans issues in front of an audience mainly made up of members of the military. The two candidates will not be on the stage at the same time, but will instead go back to back.
It’s worth noting that Lauer is listed as a “notable past member” on the Clinton Global Initiative’s website — along with Anderson Cooper and Katie Couric.

State Highway sets stormwater crossing schedule
With the first of four stormwater drainpipe replacements finally in the books, the State Highway Administration has released the preliminary schedule for two of three other crossings that will require lane closures overnight on Route 113.
According to SHA liaison Bob Rager, these crossings are just the beginning of this kind of work on the road as the decades-old dualization project proceeds towards the final phase, with roadwork estimated to be completed by spring 2019.
There is another phase to the road dualization to install an overpass at the junction of Route 113 and Snow Hill Road. No date has been given for the completion of this phase.
The road was closed and detoured earlier this week to complete the second crossing. Road crews installed a 42-inch pipe as a replacement for the existing one.
“We’re allowing crews two nights to work up to the edge of roadway and get everything in place so the actual closure night runs smoothly,” Rager said. “This worked well last week with the first one.”

Tropical Storm Hermine Likely to Bring Rain and Wind to Maryland This Weekend
MEMA is Monitoring the Storm and Making Preparations
REISTERSTOWN, Md. (September 2, 2016) — Tropical Storm Hermine could bring significant rainfall and wind to portions of Maryland beginning Saturday morning, making for a potentially hazardous Labor Day weekend. The Storm, which is currently located over Florida, is moving north-northeast and is forecast to be located off the Eastern Shore of Maryland by Saturday. Rain, wind and localized flooding may continue throughout the weekend and into early next week.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued tropical storm warnings for St. Mary’s, Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties. In addition to tropical storm force rain and wind, these areas could experience tidal and coastal flooding.
“Marylanders need to monitor trusted weather sources, such as the NWS weather forecast offices and local news stations, in order to stay updated on this tropical system and associated rain,” said Russ Strickland, executive director of MEMA. “Residents and visitors to the Eastern Shore should pay extra attention—tropical storm tracks can change quickly and unexpectedly.”
Those in potentially affected areas should be familiar with evacuation routes, have a communications plan, keep a battery-powered radio handy and have a plan for pets.

Georgetown University To Give Slave Descendants Priority For Admission
WASHINGTON (WJZ) – Georgetown University is acknowledging the role slavery played in the prestigious university’s history. On Thursday, the university announced it will offer preferential admissions benefits to the descendants of slaves it sold back in 1838.
A prestigious institution facing a dark past. In 1838, Georgetown University sold 272 slaves to pay off debts — a $3 million sale by today’s standards.
On Thursday, leaders announced steps to right the wrongs, including an apology and granting descendants of those slaves preferential admissions treatment — a benefit children of current alumni already have.
“I believe the fundamental question we are wrestling with now is how can we contribute to ensuring evermore access and affordability to higher education in America for hundreds of thousands who are not able to access it,” said President John DeGioia, Georgetown University.

Refugee: Rape not crime because acceptable in my homeland
20-year-old Muslim man pleads guilty to sexual assault on boy, 10
(London Daily Mail) A refugee who raped a ten-year-old boy has claimed he did not know sexually assaulting the child was wrong as it was ‘culturally acceptable’ in his homeland.
Mufiz Rahaman told Sydney’s Downing Centre Court raping children was not seen as morally wrong in his native Myanmar when he pleaded guilty to the aggravated sexual assault of a 10-year-old refugee on Wednesday, the Daily Telegraph reported.
The 20-year-old and his young victim are both stateless Rohingya Muslims – a group of people considered illegal immigrants from Bangladesh by the Buddhist-majority in Myanmar – who came to Australia to flee religious persecution.

Starting schools after Labor Day makes business owners beam
Just one week ago Ocean City Beach was packed full of families laying out in the sun, playing in the sand and munching on Thrashers french fries.
As Melanie Pursel, executive director of the Greater Ocean City, Maryland Chamber of Commerce, drove down Coastal Highway on Thursday on her way to a meeting at Fish Tails, there was hardly anybody on the roads.
Needless to say, Pursel is happy about Gov. Larry Hogan's executive order for Maryland public schools to begin after Labor Day starting next year.
"We want people here. The weather is beautiful and the water is the warmest it is all year in August," Pursel said. "I think it will be incredible for Ocean City."
Though Hogan has been widely criticized for the move by the state teachers' union, child advocacy groups and some parents, so far the change is being hailed by businesses in Ocean City and beyond.

MSP: Three Arrested In Somerset County on Gun, Drug and Assault Charges
September 2, 2016
(Crisfield, MD) – Troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack investigate an assault, which led to two search warrants, the recovery of guns/drugs and the arrests of three Somerset County men.
Those charged are identified as Savon Douglas, 21, Hans Wegt II, 23, and Aaron Sterling, 27, all of the Somers Cove apartment complex in Crisfield, Maryland. All were charged with firearms charges, CDS possession marijuana, CDS possession with intent to distribute, robbery, armed robbery and two counts of first degree assault. All were transported to the Somerset County Court Commissioner’s Office and held on $250,000 bond at the Somerset County Detention Center.
The victim is a 31-year-old man of Marion, Maryland. The victim transported himself to McCready Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be blunt force trauma injuries to his head.
At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack received a 9-1-1 call from McCready Hospital reporting an assault that recently occurred. The caller reported the victim had been struck in the head with a gun and entered the emergency room seeking medical attention. Upon arrival, troopers made contact with the victim and it was determined he had been assaulted, injured and robbed.
The preliminary Maryland State Police investigation by troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack and the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Lower Shore Division determined the 31-year-old victim had been with his friend Douglas earlier that day. Douglas was under the impression that the victim had a large sum of money and plotted with Wegt II and Sterling to rob the victim.
Search warrants were obtained by Maryland State Police and served at the suspects’ residence by Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Lower Shore Division, state troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack, Somerset County Narcotics Task Force, deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Crisfield Police Department.
Service of the search warrants resulted in the recovery of four guns and individually packaged marijuana. In addition concealed knives, digital scales and drug paraphernalia were recovered.

The mainstream media and the Democrats have become complacent on the issue of illegal immigration. President Obama and Hillary Clinton clearly see it as the norm simply to shrug and accept the idea that people can illegally enter the United States and stay indefinitely without penalty. For them, even raising the idea of curbing illegal immigration makes one a bigot or a xenophobe.
We are a country of immigrants who have built this great nation, but it is legal immigration that we should be recognizing and encouraging. Legal immigrants deserve respect for following the laws of our nation and completing the process. This is not an extreme concept. It is a matter of simply protecting our nation’s sovereignty and knowing who is coming into our nation.
At one point, Mrs. Clinton agreed with these concepts. She once adamantly opposed illegal immigration and supported the Secure Fence Act to protect our borders. Now, she says, she hates the wall that Donald Trumppromises to build and supports expanding Mr. Obama’s executive orders on amnesty and open-borders policies.
The Democratic nominee is putting out a welcome mat for foreign nationals who believe that they can overstay their visas or cross the border illegally. Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have sent an unmistakable signal to rest of the world that the U.S. won’t protect its borders or enforce its basic laws. That only encourages more immigrants to jump the line and find an alternate route to enter the United States. Of course, the media by and large can’t be bothered to call Mrs. Clinton on her immigration flip-flops.

Maryland banks increase profits by 21% in second quarter
Maryland banks posted a 21 percent profit increase in the second quarter as lending and deposits both were on the rise.
Banks headquartered in Maryland posted combined profits of $172 million, up from $142 million in the same quarter last year, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Lending and leases grew 10 percent to $28.5 billion, up from $25.8 billion last year. Deposits increased by more than 5 percent to $30 billion.
While profits rose, the number of banks in Maryland continued to decline. The number of FDIC-insured banks decreased from 67 a year ago to 57 as smaller banks continue to get acquired by larger institutions. The number of full-time bank employees in the state dropped from 6,574 to 6,465.
Total assets in the second quarter were $37.1 billion, an increase of 6 percent from $35 billion a year ago.

Tropical Storm Hermine Expected to Impact OC, All Zones Susceptible to Flooding
OCEAN CITY, MD – (September 2, 2016): Ocean City’s Emergency Management officials are closely monitoring the track of Tropical Storm Hermine, which will begin to effect the area in the morning hours tomorrow, September 3. Currently, forecast predictions include moderate rainfall (approximately four to seven inches) and moderate flooding during tidal cycles. All of Ocean City will be susceptible to flooding, with significant flooding expected in Zone A. Heavy winds are expected with sustained wind speeds of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. With a current storm system impacting the area, town officials are urging residents and property owners to stay informed and be prepared for flooding prior to Tropical Storm Hermine.
Rainfall should end on Sunday, however; significant storm surge and moderate flood threats will continue. In preparation for the storm, several pre-storm action items will be completed, including removing items from the beach and closing the sea wall gates. In addition, residents and visitors should expect road closures in the downtown area and Inlet Lot during the storm if tidal cycles or rainfall becomes significant.
Residents and property owners, particularly in ALL of Zone A, should prepare for moderate to severe flooding beginning in the early morning hours tomorrow, September 3. To find out what zone you are in, visit oceancitymd.gov/KnowYourZone. Preparedness efforts include tying up water vessels, removing outdoor furniture, and securing objects susceptible to wind and flooding.
As always, the town remains committed to keeping residents and visitors informed with accurate information before, during and after the storm. Citizens should subscribe to the e-news and/or follow the town’s social media channels to stay informed!

Did Hillary engineer Weiner's downfall?
Who, other than the man himself, worked to expose Anthony Weiner?
Before Tuesday’s announcement that Huma Abedin had finally come to her senses and was disposing of her sicko husband, the New York Post ran yet another piece about Weiner, showing him up to his old tricks.
In 2015, according to the story, the former Congressman and supposedly reformed sexter began exchanging suggestive and lewd texts with a buxom babe, sending crotch shots displaying his horniness as well as X-rated emojis. That is, in 2015, two years after he had to drop out of his mayoral run because had been caught out…again. Four years after resigning from Congress in the wake of the first revelations about his seamy sexting. The man simply cannot control himself.
But I digress. Now, back to the question of who “outed” Weiner -- my bet is on Hillary Clinton or a surrogate. Not Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife and one of Clinton’s top aides who was clearly suffering Stockholm Syndrome and was unable to break loose of her idiot husband. But Hillary and others on her team surely recognized how dangerous Weiner could be if Mrs. Clinton were to become president. After all, the Clintons know about Bimbo eruptions.

‘White Lives Matter’ added to list of hate groups
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Southern Poverty Law Center, the watchdog group known for tracking hate groups, is adding “White Lives Matter” to the list.
The group says the phrase is frequently used by white supremacist as a counter-slogan to “Black Live Matter”.
SPLC reps contend the movement has now been organized into a separate white nationalist group, headquartered in Tennessee.
Black Lives Matter is not on the list, because the SPLC says the leaders and founders of that movement have done “nothing at all to suggest that the bulk of the demonstrators hold supremacist or black separatist views.”

Exclusive: Trump Camp Mulls Using Seized Cartel Assets to Pay for Wall
Joint effort eyed to combat flow of drugs, guns and people would be a 'win-win' for both Mexico and U.S.
To fund construction of a new U.S. border wall, Donald Trump and senior advisers are considering various ideas, including the use of assets seized from drug cartels and others in the illicit drug trade.
As the debate over who will pay for the wall dominates the discussion on cable news, sources involved in the pre-planning of the GOP nominee’s Mexico trip told LifeZette the Trump camp is looking for innovative ways to pay for the construction of the border wall — ways that both countries can support. Sensitivities in Mexico regarding Trump’s visit, and specifically paying for the border wall, are running high.

Low-Fat Myths: Why What We've Been Told Is Wrong
We’re finally coming to our dietary senses, say experts, who herald the return of full-fat products as dietary staples. Study after study has demonstrated that low-fat, high-carbohydrate diets just don’t work to drive weight loss or prevent disease.
In fact, they are the culprits causing our obesity epidemic, which is a contributing factor to cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
“Finally Americans are getting rid of the not-fat craze,” notes cardiologist Dr. Stephen Sinatra, co-author of “Health Revelations from Heaven and Earth.”
He tells Newsmax Health the latest nutrition research over the last decade or so has clearly demonstrated that consuming more healthy fats is far superior to eating simple carbs and sugars – for health and weight loss.
“For example, eating organic butters, healthy fish, meats, and especially yogurts containing saturated fats results in a more favorable insulin response than the fat-free foods, which can cause an alarming insulin response in the body,” he says.
“The trick to getting healthy, stabilizing our weight and reducing the risk of diabetes and heart disease is to add more healthy fats to the diet along with lean protein, while reducing sugary carbs at the same time. When you do this, insulin levels are less likely to soar and the body responds physiologically with less glycation for better health and aliveness.”
Dr. Drew Ramsay, author of “Eat Complete,” points out that “the scientific evidence that tells us saturated fats are harmful has been significantly questioned by the medical community.

‘Hillary’s America’ Getting Theatrical Re-Release Due to Popular Demand
Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary film Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party will be re-released in hundreds of theaters this weekend due to popular demand.
Hillary’s America — which charts the “secret” history of the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton’s position atop it, including her early meetings with the radical Saul Alinsky and up through recent controversies involving her email server and the Clinton Foundation — will be re-released in about 400 theaters across the country this weekend after fans lobbied theaters for additional screenings, D’Souza told Breitbart News in a phone conversation on Wednesday.
The film is already the top-grossing documentary of this year with $12.5 million in receipts, beating out the IMAX documentary A Beautiful Planet and Michael Moore’s Where to Invade Next, which earned $3.8 million during its theatrical run in February.
“It couldn’t be more timely,” D’Souza told Breitbart of the timing of the re-release, which comes as Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump spar over accusations of racism.
“I think there’s momentum on Trump’s side, and part of it is that Trump has begun to go where no previous Republican has gone. He’s challenging the Democrats where they’ve seemed strong, and that’s to be the party of minorities,” D’Souza said. “It’s not about winning the black vote, necessarily. It’s about taking away the Democrats’ secret weapon; that it’s on the right side of history, that it’s moved things forward. And Trump is saying that’s not so.”

Legal Questions Remain On Hogan Executive Order
Legal experts are weighing in as pushback continues over Gov. Larry Hogan's executive order requiring public school to start after Labor Day.
The governor issued an executive order Wednesday that requires public schools to start classes after Labor Day and end by June 15.
"This isn't just a family issue. It is an economic and public safety issue," Hogan said Wednesday.
The executive order is carefully worded: "Each local Board of Education shall retain full responsibility for establishing its annual academic calendar and therefore shall have the necessary latitude to determine how best to comply with the provisions of this executive order along with state and local laws."
Some are wondering if the governor's order is legal.
Executive orders are basically instructions to agencies. In this case, the governor's office, based on case law, considers local school boards as units of state government.

Biden Dodges, Won’t Say Clinton Foundation Has Been '100% Ethical'
Thursday in Warren, OH, MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt confronted Vice President Joe Biden over whether Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has been “100 percent ethical,” in light of the various pay-to-play accusations between then-Secretary Hillary Clinton’s State Department and her family’s organization, the Clinton Foundation.
Partial transcript as follows:
HUNT: Hillary Clinton obviously is not on the trail. You’re here in Ohio. Do you think she needs to be out front with the American people a little bit more?
BIDEN: She is out front with the American people.
HUNT: She’s been fund-raising for a couple weeks.
BIDEN: She has to, but she’s also been doing a lot of events and I told her I’d campaign with her in Scranton. We got a whole bunch of places we’re campaigning together and some places where maybe I can help and not have her have to be with me.

Hillary Clinton’s unpopularity hits new high: poll
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s unpopularity has hit a new high, as she’s erased some of the good will built up in the wake of last month’s Democratic National Convention, according to an ABC News-Washington Post poll released Wednesday.
Thirty-eight percent of registered voters now have a favorable view of Mrs. Clinton, compared to 59 percent who reported an unfavorable view. That’s down from her 46 percent/52 percent favorable/unfavorable split in early August, shortly after the Democrats’ convention in Philadelphia.
Among registered voters, she’s now on par with Republican nominee Donald Trump, who had a 37 percent/60 percent favorable/unfavorable split in the new poll — essentially unchanged from a 36 percent/61 percent split in early August.
Among all adults, 56 percent said they have an unfavorable view of Mrs. Clinton, compared to 63 percent for Mr. Trump.

National Vietnam Veterans Foundation named worst charity; CEO flees in Rolls Royce
The nation’s lowest-rated veterans charity is run by a lawyer at the Department of Veterans Affairs with a six-figure income.
The National Vietnam Veterans Foundation gave just $122,000 in cash donations to veterans in 2014 despite pulling in $8.5 million, tax records obtained by CNN show.
J. Thomas Burch, the CEO and founder of the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation, sped off in a Rolls Royce whenconfronted by the network on Monday.
“Mr. Burch! Mr Burch! Mr Burch!” a reporter implored as the vehicle took off down a suburban street in Washington, D.C. The network wanted to know how just 2 percent of all donations to NVVF were funneled to actual Vietnam veterans.
Charity Navigator, one of the most influential charity watchdog organizations in the U.S., gave Mr. Burch’s organization a zero-star rating on a four-star scale.

Stoking Russia Panic for Partisan Gain Will Have a Long-Term Price for Peace
On Saturday’s episode of AM Joy with Joy Ann Reid, guest Malcolm Nance, a former Naval intelligence officer, summed up MSNBC’s Russia panic with this quote:
Joy Ann Reid: Because from what I’ve seen, the only people not with Hillary Clinton at this point…are people in the Jill Stein camp. Jill Stein was sitting at Putin’s table right with General Flynn.
Malcolm Nance: Jill Stein has a show on Russia Today.
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein doesn’t have a show at all, let alone on RT. She once attended a function hosted by RT, which, by our current standards of liberal discourse, makes her a Kremlin agent, but the fact that such a demonstrably false statement could be made on cable news to thousands of people without anyone bothering to correct it shows how easy Russia panic is to stoke.
Earlier in the segment, Nance made the claim that “someone” in Trump’s campaign “may” be an “agent of Russia,” citing a recent report in theFinancial Times (8/19/16) alleging that Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort’s former translator “may” have “links” to Russian intelligence.
The irony, of course, is that Nance himself has far more recent and better documented ties to US intelligence, but MSNBC feels no need to convince viewers he is not a CIA plant spreading disinformation.

Hillary's Incoherent Attempt to Pre-empt Trump Mexico Visit
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton attempted Wednesday to pre-empt Donald Trump’s visit to Mexico later in the day, telling an American Legion convention in Cincinnati Trump could not undo a year of insults in a few hours.
“It certainly takes more than trying to make up for a year of insults and insinuations by dropping in on our neighbors for a few hours and then flying home again. That is not how it works,” said Clinton, whose main achievement as Secretary of State was the sheer number of her foreign visits.
The bulk of Clinton’s speech was a confused, incoherent muddle of talking points, at times contradictory. For example, she mocked Trump for calling the military a “disaster” — by which he meant the poor condition of the armed forces — and then called for the U.S. to “modernize” the military, effectively conceding Trump’s point.

BBB Warns Consumers About Auto Warranty Company Based In Salisbury
BALTIMORE —The Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland is warning consumers about a Maryland-based auto warranty company that they said is doing bad business with customers' money.
The BBB has given the Auto Warranty Agency an F rating and officials said they're dealing with a lot of frustrated customers.
Connie Mitchell knew she would eventually need work done on the used Mercedes that had 60,000 miles on it when she bought it last year. That is what led her to the Auto Warranty Agency, which was advertising extended car service contracts.
Mitchell said that she paid nearly $4,000 for the contract and got a receipt confirming the company received her money.
But when it came time to need car service, Mitchell said she ran into problems

HILLARY TO DONOR: 'Let me know what penance I owe you'
Is Hillary Clinton a slave to her donors?
Clinton’s State Department emails from her private server released by Wikileaks reveal a servant relationship with America’s wealthy elites.
She had regular conversations with frequent fundraiser Lynn Forester de Rothschild, including one exchange in 2010 in which Clinton played messenger and informed de Rothschild that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair would no longer be able to attend a speaking gig for the donor.

PR Firm Says It Ghost-Wrote Thousands of Op-Eds in Major US Papers
Laura Bentz of Keybridge Communications describes her company as a boutique PR firm—founded by a former writer for the Wall Street Journal—that specializes in writing and placing op-eds. With some of the country’s most influential trade groups and global corporations as clients, we run many of the major op-ed campaigns in the US. We place roughly 3,000 op-eds per year.
On its website, Keybridge openly claims to be able to “brand a CEO” by putting op-eds into newspapers in “virtually every major city.”
Less openly, Keybridge carefully markets its services with a PDF that names people for whom it claims to have written and placed op-eds.
