Hundreds of houses of worship are offering sanctuary to people who fear deportation under the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
To some churches, sanctuary means spiritual support or legal assistance to fight deportation. Others promise or are already extending physical sanctuary by housing immigrants.
One advocate says about 450 houses of worship nationwide have now offered to provide some form of sanctuary for immigrants.

How quickly we forget! Sanctuary was for the truly desperate. As soon as you take one step outside those doors you are fair game. This means that, for all intents and purposes, they were under house arrest.
ReplyDeleteActually they are fair game inside the doors as well...also take away the tax freedom and watch them crumble
ReplyDeleteIf they do, just take away their tax exempt status!
ReplyDeleteSo many "churches" today aren't real churches. The Bible teaches before allowing a criminal in the midst of the flock the criminal has to make good on their bad deed which means turning themselves in.
ReplyDeleteWhat would Jesus do?
ReplyDeleteMost of the "illegals" are here because their situation is horrible where they are from, and even the living they barely eek out here is dramatically superior to where they are from.
They aren't criminals. They are people who are desperate enough to do whatever it takes to feed their families. Yes, there are bad apples, but the majority come from strong family backgrounds, and have a strong foundation in faith and God.
I don't presume to be so arrogant as to claim to know the mind or will of God, but I can't imagine Jesus kicking these people out of the country, let alone closing the doors of his church to these people.
You say they are not criminals, How do you know without going thew proper channels. I wish them no harm but that is the reason we have a imagination system!
Delete3:07 You can look to scripture to see what Jesus says about following the laws of the land. Render unto Caesar....
ReplyDeleteJesus was an illegal alien.
ReplyDelete4:17 No he was not. Caesar Augustus mandated that everyone had to be counted in a census. Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem to register because that is where Jospeh's lineage is from. She had baby Jesus at that time and then they traveled back to their home in Nazareth. They were following the law.
ReplyDeleteAny church that involves itself with this, is getting into politics, and therefore should be stripped of its Tax Free Status.
ReplyDeleteAnd if churches do this and lose tax exempt status, it would be good practice for living like actual Christians. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's. Question is, what isn't God's?
ReplyDeleteFollow Jesus' commandment, love God, love your neighbor. When we turn away refugees and migrants and "criminals", we turn away Christ.
- James Y.
4:40 Did you get that info from the book or the movie?
ReplyDelete5:28. It is from scripture.
ReplyDelete3:07 PM:
ReplyDeleteIF THEY DID NOT ENTER THE COUNTRY BY LEGAL MEANS THEY ARE CRIMINALS. LAW ABIDING CITIZENS DO NOT, NOR WILL THEY EVER RESPECT OR ACCEPT CRIMINALS.
11:37 That's rich given all the local names I see in the police blotter.
ReplyDelete5:27 and 3:07, there is also the law of man, which must be followed. They are illegal, which makes them criminals, and they know it. And lots of them quit their jobs in their home country to come here to make MORE money. Plus if things there are so bad, why is it we see none of them emaciated? They all look very well fed to me. It is not all about being poor, it's about greed. To get MORE money. To have what their friends have that sneaked into OUR country before them. They WILL go back. Children and all. Which by the way ARE NOT citizens.1st Amendment says so.
ReplyDeleteSo we have totally lost the concept of division of church and state..
