Poorly handled by Cannon and Council. They represent the PEOPLE - not just themselves. Do they have the right to do this without input from the public?
okay, on section J - where does the $ go now? It gives the council the right to strike budget items, but the revision is saying now it goes to basically general fund. WHERE does that budget $ go now?
I am not sure WHY Bob wants us to reject ALL of them, he does not explain HIS position either!!! come on BOTH groups, you are both sucking
These were advertised in the Daily Times according to the required schedule. But those publications did or will all take place in October, mostly less than a month before the election. That's not enough time for public discussion. And the advertising in the DT, although in accordance with county council rules, is insufficient to reach the voting population.
Reads like Cannon is trying to feather his cap so he can take over. I didn't vote for a drunk and I certainly would never consider Cannon for anything! Many of the rest of the council are of the same ilk.
This is exactly how they got the collectively bargaining in. They mixed it up with other things and never let the people know exactly what they were voting for. In order to get what they wanted they actually had to accept the collective bargaining. If they did not accept the collecting party they would have essentially voted for something that did not want. The Citizens need to be voting on one thing at a time presented in clear plain language that everyone can understand.
Vote no on everything that doesn't look familiar or that you've never heard of. Public hearings need to be conducted. If not no dice. When will Salisbury wake up?! Is ignance really all that blissful. Downtown is now a slum.

No, but good try. I am an informed citizen that takes the time to attend council meetings or watch them on PAC 14. The council meetings were changed to have one at night and one during the day and obviously you don't attend any of them. The agenda is placed on the internet well in advance. The minutes of all the meetings are placed on the internet after every meeting. Don't tell me you can't afford a computer or the internet! If you don't pay attention then don't blame the County.

Who is the drunk and why do you have to be so mean about your elected officials? Don't you have anything nice to say about anyone? I think this is the best council that we have had in a long time. You should be blessed because it could be all Democrat and we would be taxed to death.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The citizens voted overwhelmingly with 73% of the vote to allow the Sheriff's Deputies the right to collective bargaining. Try again Dumb Dumb.

You try very hard?? Well you must have been sleeping for over 2 months. It's your duty to stay current and up to date on what is going on. There is a thing called TV and the internet if you can't make the night meetings.

Um, read the agenda on the county website, go to or watch the meetings (on TV or online), read the posted minutes on the county website? There has been plenty of talk about it all. It has been motioned, seconded. It has been published. More were being proposed, but Marc Kilmer tried to get rid of some redundancy. Get involved and stay informed. OR, DON'T COMPLAIN.
No public hearings advertised for Charter amendments? Serious problem here. People better wake up and ask questions.
ReplyDeleteI'll follow your lead! What have you done?

Sounds like something Nancy Pelosi would do. "You'll have to pass it before you can know what's in it."
ReplyDelete??? Post them Bob. Let's see them

Since you don't seem to know what is going on then how can you tell us what is "properly informed?"
