BARRY SIMMS HAS DETAILS. THE ANSWER ACCORDING TO THE MAN'S PARENTS ARE FEW. NEARLY A MONTH AFTER HE WAS KILLED, THEY HAVE NOTIFIED THE STATE OF THEIR INTENTION TO SUE. THEY WILL LOOK UP THEIR OWN EXCUSES. MILDRED FISHER WANT TO KNOW WHAT LED TO A POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING THAT ENDED THE LIFE OF HER SON, WINFIELD FISHER III. I WANT ANSWERS TO WHAT HAPPENED. WE ARE JUST HEARING RUMORS. HER SON WAS SHOT RIGHT OUTSIDE A POLICE BARRACKS INSTALLED VERY. -- IN SALISBURY.
HE HAD FIXED A LICENSE TAG LIGHT AND NEEDED AN OFFICER TO CHECK AND SIGN IN INSPECTION TICKET.
THE SITUATION ESCALATED. STATE POLICE SAY BOTH OFFICERS FIRED AT HIM AFTER HE HIT AND DRAGGED ONE OF THE OFFICERS. HE CRASHED AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT AN AREA HOSPITAL. THIS IS SHROUDED IN MYSTERY. THERE WAS NOT ONE BULLET HOLE IN THE VEHICLE. DURING THEIR INITIAL INVESTIGATION, POLICE SAY FISHER WAS TRYING TO AVOID SEARCH OF HIS CAR AND A SEARCH WARRANT AFTER THE INCIDENT TURNED UP MARIJUANA. HE HAD BEEN CONVICTED BEFORE. YOU SHOULD NOT GET SHOT FOR A TAG LIGHT. HE WAS TAKING CARE OF HIS DAUGHTER AND FIANCÉE. HE WAS DOING EVERYTHING HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO SO WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SITUATION INVOLVED. WE UNDERSTAND THE OFFICERS THAT DID IT WAS THE SAME OFFICER THAT PREVIOUSLY ARRESTED HIM FOR THAT SITUATION. IT REMAINS A FACT-FINDING SITUATION. CALL ON THE FAMILIES, I DON'T MEAN TO GET EMOTIONAL BUT I MISS MY CHILD.
POLICE TELL US THEY WOULD NOT COMMENT ON LEGAL MATTERS AND THEY TELL US THAT THE REPORT ON WHAT HAPPENED IS NOT YET

Pretty sure if you attempt to run over a Trooper, begin to drag the Trooper who has probable cause to initiate a search of the vehicle when the Trooper observed contraband, then deadly force is authorized. Yes he was initially there to get his tag light repair order signed off on, but failed to get rid of his contraband first and it led to the confrontation.
ReplyDeletekops investigate themselves which should not be allowed. citizen review boards for anytime there is a situation like this. that's the only way to get to the truth. Kops lie and kops protect kops! if they weren't kops they would be krooks!
ReplyDeleteHard to take your response seriously with your spelling and grammar. My 3rd grader has better spelling and punctuation than your comment. Great example of the mentality the COPS are dealing with on a daily basis. Second, I LOVE how people bash the cops but they are the first to call them in a crisis. If you feel that the law enforcement needs a major overhaul, then I suggest you become a LEO. Therefore, you can lead by perfect example.
DeleteThere are "tools" everywhere, just like the individual commenting in the above post.
They'll say they saw weed and wanted to search due to that and the man ran away. The fact is an over zealous cop already hemmed him up once and the guy wasn't having it again. He was there for a repair order. Proved it was fixed and was excersisng his right to leave freely when a cop got in his way. This now became an attempt to hit an officer instead of molestation by the officer and false and imprisonment. This is another murder by police in wicomico with the good old boy cover up.
ReplyDeleteHe was doing everything he was suppose to do but had marijuana in the vehicle
ReplyDeleteIf I had been working that night I would have signed the SRO and sent him on his way
ReplyDeleteIf the police do not have probable cause, they'll make up any excuse to get it they are the most corrupt criminal organization in the United States today and maybe even the world. Look at how many people they get away with killing.
ReplyDeleteNot really looking for answers or the truth. Looking for reason to blame the cop and relieve their son of any part he played in the incident and a payout. Don't see any mystery here. When people's children get killed or are forced to take responsibility for their own actions it's always they were a little angel and did no wrong, I'm not buying it.
ReplyDeleteHe went to the police station stoned and they tried to search his car and he freaked and tried to injure or kill the officer.
ReplyDeleteLegalize it
ReplyDeleteAnd easy card to play, he was a good boy who obviously did something unlawful and his life was the penalty. Let stop blaming cops for stupid actions taking by criminals. 7:07 look up plain view doctrine.
ReplyDeleteAll the cops have to do is show the tapes. But they wont obviously.
ReplyDeleteThis situation should have never happened. The police should have signed the repair order and walked away. The young man should not have had pot in the car and tried to flee. No one should be killed over some pot - police officer or citizen.

Good thing you weren't working.
I don't think you are a cop anyway.

BINGO!!
I'm not buying it either.
Not really looking for answers or the truth.
DeleteI agree - more like Looking for $$$ Larry the Lawyer, from across the bay, has promised the family can be raked in from a lawsuit. Hope the family don't think they'll get it all. Larry S Greenberg ain't working pro bono. Be interesting to learn if family was contacted by Larry or vice versa. If family accompanied Winfield on all charges through the years, they sure know what the inside of a court room looks like.

ReplyDeleteLegalize it

Why? It's a drug and it causes problems just like this one! Don't legalize it.
Pot + illegal = suspicious cop
DeletePot + legal = mellow cop
Logic is your friend.
Surgeon + legal = dead patient
DeleteLawyer (or judge) + legal = jail time
Logic must be applied across the board, not to suit your stance.
Something some you apparently do know: Pretty much all police stations, jails, etc have signs posted telling visitors that they are subject to search on that property. It'll be thrown out of court. You have no reasonable expectation of privacy on THEIR turf.
ReplyDeleteyea and cops never do anything wrong, over react, break the law, or cover up.

ReplyDeleteTo the law enforcement community, there are still a few sane citizens out here. Thank you for you're service and "be careful out there"
Rt 50 has a sign by Vienna honoring vets police ff should get a pic.
DeleteAll you law enforcement bashers out there, I certainly hope you never need them for anything. To law enforcement: Good job all of you and thank you for your service, it certainly is not easy out there with a bunch of nut cases running around, be careful.
ReplyDeletedon't take drugs with you to the police station and maybe you won't be in a position to be detained or shot
ReplyDeleteReverend! Says it all
ReplyDeleteI knew plenty of surgeons that smoked pot and saved hundreds of lives in Vietnam. Not usually at the same time but I would not want a drunk surgeon operating on me either.
ReplyDeleteAn unfortunate byproduct of illegal acts. The vehicle involved shootings are a tough read for a cop making a split second judgment on shoot/don't shoot. I don't like them...but I understand them nontheless. I also understand that we only shoot the angelic amount us...
ReplyDeleteYeh this upstanding young man was doing everything right.....I guess the illegal pot in his car was perfectly fine......he already had a history of being stupid.....you endanger an officers life and you will lose.....I think justice was served....and I'm pretty sure that's how it will end. Just remember pot heads....even if the state legalized it the federal government hasn't and wont....so if you get busted you actually don't have a leg to stand on as the feds can then take the case....don't do the crime if you can't do the time or worse....DON'T DO THE CRIME IN THE FIRST PLACE.
ReplyDeleteSo, the family wants answers huh? Well, I want things too. Like, the winning lottery numbers, a cold beer, a new truck and three months off work with pay. You can't always get what you want buttercup. That's th problem is th society today, everybody wants something and have come to expect to get everything they want.
ReplyDeleteThey must be crazy to wanna know how he died! WHAT FAMILY WOULD WANT THAT? Transparency for Blacks is NOT the American way! Is it????
