Hey Joe, something you might want to look into because it seems nobody else is reporting it. Yesterday I was heading to Parkside School at 3:00, three state cops flew by me with lights flashing on Beaglin Park Dr, by the time I got to school two more had came in from the other direction. Five state police cars, a rescue truck and a boatload of kids directly across from Parkside where all the Parkside kids cross the road to get to those apartments. And why those kids are allowed to walk through traffic every morning and every afternoon baffles my mind anyway! I was there so I know something was going on but not a word on the news so I'm hoping this isn't another cover-up to make us think all our schools are filled with sweet, orderly angelic kids.
UPDATE: Evidently it was a big fight that started in the cafeteria at Parkside and continues across the street after school requiring 5 police cars and an ambulance. Not a word from local media.
There really needs to be more transparency with our schools. They never have to divulge names, but incidents descriptions would be nice. Since last week, I have to talked to many teachers and they said the Bennett incident is not new and was not surprising at all.
ReplyDeleteKind of makes you wonder what else happens in our schools? I wish someone would just be truthful about our schools for once.
The County had a big fight across from Parkside High School involving a Black on White attack x 2. It was Black Boys doing the Knock Out game on whites again. I have one of the videos by the way. Homey's got whooped by those white boys! Great work guys, more to come! #FightBackTheKnockOutgame
ReplyDeleteMaybe because pedestrians have the right of way and it is a school zone. Mind your own business and carry on.
ReplyDeletePedestrians only have right of way if they are IN a cross walk (not at or crossing where they want). Doesn't matter it's a school zone
DeleteMy husband and I were in Emergency at PRMC yesterday for a good part of the day. I headed for the rest room shortly before we left (late afternoon) and saw two sheriff's deputies standing outside the treatment room two doors down. I couldn't hear much, but they definitely were talking about a big brawl and there was a mention of people having bats. I didn't see anything on the news at 6 and 11, nor was there anything on line.
ReplyDeleteNOTHING will change until SPD police chief Duncan is fired she has been covering up crime since the Ireton days and I have Zero Respect for Jake Day the PUPPET MASTER of Jim Ireton.
ReplyDeleteNo word in the Media because it involved black vs. white at the school. My kid told me all about it.
ReplyDeleteA live online feed, 24hrs and 7 days a week in selected locations in the schools, as well as a few random "high risk" classrooms, would provide the transparency parents need. And perhaps deter some of the behaviors, since they would know they were subject to being recorded.
ReplyDeleteThey can't report what they aren't told!
ReplyDeleteBased on what the kids are saying, it was a group of white kids with bats fighting a group of black kids and one is in the hospital. Disgusting how the local news groups and the Board Of Ed tries to hide and cover up everything!
ReplyDeleteOnce it spilled into the street it was not under the control of the school. But the BOE does have some explaining to do about the events that occurred on school property. I'm sure that the sheriff's department is reviewing the video footage and questioning witnesses. Hopefully, the BOE won't talk the sheriff out of doing what he considers to be appropriate.
ReplyDeleteYou people need to get your heads out of the sand. The board of ed is going to tell you as little as possible about what's going on in thevschools. We have fights, teachers getting threatened, rapes, and thugs in our schools that have zero chance of graduating. We had better start screaming at the board of ed before someone's child gets killed. It is getting close and you better believe it. We must demand school accountability now.
ReplyDeleteThere is no law which prevents the printing or releasing of a minors name involved in any criminal activity. This is done out of respect for the family. They can release the names if they chose to, I know this for fact because as a minor I got into trouble but being the grandson of a judge they felt the need to. If they would start saying who these kids were I think you would see their behavior change.
ReplyDeleteCode orange at the school this morning after a report someone brought a gun because of the fight. And yet, still not one word being said by local news or the BOE. Disgusting!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hidden so to keep the college $$$ rolling into the Bury
ReplyDeleteThis is NOT the first time that something like this has happened at Parkside. I attend the school and I know of at least 3 incidents of this type or origin. It is always swept under the rugs. We have at least 1 fight a day . .it is never mentioned in the media. My parents and I have talked about it and feel that all of the incidents are reported in the local media due to the students that attend SU. Since this town is supposed to be a college town they don't want to draw negative attention to it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same type of thing with the deaths by OD and the police labeling them everything but. .
This small city has big city problems with crime.
My son told me about it this morning, that there is a race war coming. And someone had supposedly brought a gun to school.
ReplyDeleteI also saw the large group of kids at the apartment complex.
My daughter is a student at Parkside. She told me that there is possibly a code red situation thats trying to be kept quiet. The administrators seemed in a panic she said. The black kids from yesterdays fight have apparently threatened to "shoot up all the white people" in retaliation for getting a beat down from the white kids. A bat was used by a 20 year old relative of the white student to destroy a couple knee caps. This all stems from a white kid being victim to the "knockout game."
ReplyDeleteThis is what the students are saying, and is in no way proof of anything.
Kick all the thugs out of school, Black, White, Blue, Green, Purple what ever color of their skin. When there is no discipline in the schools that is what you get. This is the reason to bring back suspensions and permanently removal from the system for discipline measures. This will continue and increase, including the drug problem, until the thugs / gangs or removed from schools. The Prison system in MD is just as bad, no cuffing and no mace. They wonder why there is problems. Thank you DemocRAT / Liberals. I cannot leave out the Parents. They are also to blame. They don't care either. If they cared the Civic Center would be packed with disgruntled Parents demanding change.
ReplyDeleteThis all started with a bet of $10 for 2 black boys to walk up and hit 2 white boys standing in a group talking to each other with no warnings. The results of this was 3 days suspension for the boys who threw the hits. The friends of the boys who were hit were sent home for a day excused due to racial tension. Then it was all brushed under the rug by administration. This school lacks effective administration badly. After all said and done the administration called the kids down to claim one kid was never hit, when they all witnessed it first hand. Had this not been done, it would have probably blown over. Instead they were made to feel like they were wrong. Something needs to give on what really goes on in schools. One Resource officer can not handle 1200 kids.
ReplyDeleteThe decision to avoid suspending kids of one race makes statistics better and safety worse. We see which one matters.
ReplyDeleteIt's racist to suspend or expel black k8ds when they do something wrong or criminal! They can't help they are being raised in a culture of "have babies and get welfare"! They just need teparations for never having been a slave!
DeleteWhy is still happening in this day and age. Shouldn't the people who had these deep seeded views long gone by now? Clearly they are not. Such a shame especially where there is much more to worry about in today's society.
ReplyDelete12:48 so if that is actually what started all this then why haven't the officials arrested and charged the boys who hit the other boys?
ReplyDeleteThses are crimes and lawsuits and assault charges should be following!
Teachers need to Walk Out.
ReplyDeleteThere is just 600 more getting ready to graduate from SU who will take over the jobs! That's not going to help! They'll get walked on more than veteran teachers!
Delete557 seriously doubt most of those grads will stay in Salisbury. Even local students are opting to relocate out of the area because jobs/pay/col are horrible here.
DeleteWhen is SPD police chief getting FIRED.
ReplyDeleteThis is starting to sound like the last season of American Crime Story.
ReplyDeleteIt really disgusts me that this is all this way. But, if this is the way it's going to be then I glad to see at least some people are willing to fight back. It is probably the only way to eventually end this, as sad as that is.
ReplyDeleteMy son son said things are eerily quiet there right now.
ReplyDeleteWe need to demand the removal of troubled students to ensure a proper learning environment.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteExactly 1:01. I don't think that is what happened at all. There is more to the story.
ReplyDeleteBlack kids are traveling in groups currently at Parkside. Tensions are high. Police are making their presence known.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because if you have kids in Wicomico schools you understand the Board Of Education will do anything to hide the truth about what really goes on in the schools. More trouble means the powers that be don't get to brag about how good a job they're doing and get their big raises. If you doubt any of that is the truth, talk to the good kids there and they'll be happy to tell you because they hate it as much as the test of us.
ReplyDelete1:01 & 1:30 pm - What I wrote at 12:48 p.m. is true being I am one of the parents who was requested to pick their child up when he was not involved. There are videos on SnapChat and Instagram of the incidents. There is no major discipline in that school. It was a complete madhouse that day.
ReplyDeletePick up at regular dismissal was smooth. I did notice though not as many kids out waiting to be picked up.
ReplyDeleteI am a teacher at the school. There were no red or orange codes today. Normal day from my perspective. 12:48 is correct though. It all started from a bet. A black student sucker punched a white student for $10. The white racist redneck kid came up with all his racist friends and older brother to fight the black kids. I believe the black kid that started the whole thing got the worst of it but i cant say for sure. The worst part about this is most of the students involved should not even have been there. These kids, both black and white, have been allowed to do whatever they want with little to no repercussions. They walk around the hallways all day and refuse to listen to anyone. No support from the administration or the board of education. This has been a long time coming and our board has done nothing to stop it. In fact everything they do has made it worse. Look what has happened at bennett as well. Parents, please call and get on them about discipline. They dont care about our (teachers) opinions but may listen to you. Its going to take a lot of public pressure to get things to change.
ReplyDeleteYoure a teacher there? If that is true, I do not know how you go to work every day. With the behavior that goes on in schools today I do not envy your position, but thank you for your service.
DeleteMaybe you and your teacher buddies should stand up to pee now. Band together and refuse to teach until the discipline problem is SERIOUSLY addressed.
So, the white is the racist? How about the black who sucker punched the white. Seems to me that is also racist. All actions and reactions were wrong, let's not be one sided.
Delete" A black student sucker punched a white student". "The white racist redneck kid...and his racists friends". Seems like the black student was racist and committed a hate crime and the white student brought his friends/family to retaliate. And you as a teacher fueling the flames by wording it as if the black student was wronged when they retaliated when he was the instigator. Both students were wrong and so are you for fueling this hatred and division, shame on you.
DeleteSend your kids to private school! Otherwise they will become victims of thugs and liberals and taught all kinds of horrible stuff. Yes you will have to give up the fancy car and vacations, but what is more important?
ReplyDeleteMy daughter said that a black kid brought a gun to school and showed it off, said he was going to "Cap some white ass", and when he was confronted by a teacher started screaming "Racist, and discrimination", others went to his aid and started a scream fest. It went out of control from there, she got out of there before the bullets were going to fly.
ReplyDeleteEvery time the teachers try to discipline a black student, they get charged with being a "Racist", so they now just let the animals do as they please.
That's why I'm glad my kids go to Mardela. All the kids wear camouflage clothing. That way, no one can see them to hit them with anything!!!
ReplyDeleteBlack Bats Matter!
ReplyDelete@4:39 Your a teacher at school? I doubt it. But I am wondering why you admitted the black kid started it but it is the white kid that is the racist?? Would this be Miss VP doing the defending ?
ReplyDeleteWhoever it is just added to the tension by referring to him as a white racist redneck, he/she needs to be fired.
DeleteA black kid "sucker punches" a white kid over a $10 bet, but then white kid gets called "white, redneck racist kid." Why, because he didn't like getting sucker punched. I'm missing something. Must be a "black thing."
ReplyDeleteI wrote that the white kid is a redneck racist because he is. He and his buddies run around the school calling the black kids names and starting trouble. The black kid is as much to blame because he is no saint either from what i have heard. I just don't know him so i didn't want to say anything that is not true. Many of you are absoutly clueless about how the kids are nowdays. No tension has been added because it is already there and none of those kids could probably read this post or would ever even try. (Im not exaggerating on that) The good kids far out number the bad ones but the bad ones are really bad and get away with everything. Parents need to be vocal to get things to change. There was no gun today (as far as i know) but the screaming part of the story happens on a daily basis. There is very little respect from the current generation. So sad about all the hateful comments from the ignorant people. This explains some of the behavior i witness on a daily basis. Thanks for all the supporting comments. We do our best to give the good kids a positive experience. It gets kind of hard to do sometimes because of all the drama. Ive got good kid papers to grade so gotta go.
ReplyDeleteThe black kid is racist and committed a hate crime. Why can't you tell all the truth, doesn't it fit the agenda
DeleteWell if the kids can't readt this at a high school... Then you have failed as a teacher. You called the white boys rednecks... That's a derogatory term for whites. I think we just figured out your ethnicity.
DeleteWell, This is what happens when you take God out of the schools. Prayer needs to be back in the schools and God as our focal point. Now, anything goes and it's ok...there is no punishment in the school system anymore...instead it promotes undisciplined students tof dof whatever. There is no accountability.
ReplyDeleteWe need change ASAP!
Exactly 10;06pm
ReplyDeleteJust the poor written english of the person proclaiming to be an teacher at that school
ReplyDeleteIs another reason I spend my
Money on private school!
With all do respect 1006, I don't think bringing back God to public schools will fix this on going issue. I think removing the constraints set forth by the naacp and the feds and perhaps the boe will grow a set and start throwing these "kids" out. That will help.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that more parents that have children in the local high schools have not come forward. What will it take, a child, your child being murdered at school? Because as things are going, it will happen sooner than later.
Parents you need to step the heck up, these are your kids and your tax dollars..
Exactly. Parents get off your butts, get off your computers, and get to the boe memberS. Not the central office. Show up in masses at the meetings. DEMAND they do something about the non dicipline in ALL county schools. Before you start saying why don't you.....well I have and was told no parents had contacted them with concerns. TAKE YOUR SCOOLS BACK BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
Delete5:49 My sentiments exactly. Why in hell would you continue to send your child to a school that you KNOW is not safe? You truly do get what you pay for! If private school is out of reach,home-school,but don't make your kids go back into their dangerous public schools! It's tantamount to child abuse!
ReplyDeleteAll the speculation going around it was not a knock out game. .The Caucasian student called the African American student a derogatory name. .This same group of boys have spray painted racial slurs in the bathroom after another PHS death and been involved in 2 other racial incidents since 2015. Please get your facts straight before speculating.
ReplyDelete- A concerned BOA member
I am assuming you meant BOE MEMBER. My question now is have these students been referred to the office? Oh that's right can't refer any students to the office. See if consequences had been set forth from the get go this wouldn't continue to happen.
DeleteSo maybe the African American should learn that they are better than a derogatory slur, and be the better person and walk away.
Delete439 you should be ashamed for outright being dishonest. . . If you are a so called teacher at the school the students are a product do your incompetence
ReplyDeleteDoes a child's upbringing have something to do with it? So quick to blame the teacher. Parents need to be parents. If you don't want to be a parent then don't have children! Children are more than a welfare check.
Delete4:39 I think you could have explained the story without adding the words "racist" and "redneck" to describe the white kid. That just creates more hate.
ReplyDelete@5:27 Go ahead and hit a pedestrian in the street but not in a crosswalk. See how that works out for you.
ReplyDeleteKent County Delaware or Brussels gets the attention. Not Da Bury.
ReplyDelete@12:55 If you are really "a concerned BOE member" you should be ashamed of yourself. Our schools are rife with violence. There have been 2 rapes in the last two years. There are fights EVERYDAY even at the elementary school level. Get your head out of your a$$ and do your job! I have two kids at Parkside. And you can try to wrap your story up in a neat little bow but according to the majority of the kids and staff at Parkside IT WAS THE KNOCKOUT GAME!! I'm sure the incident report was "prettied" up. Instead of reading a report about what happened why don't you try going into the schools and talk to the kids. There was a sophomore on this very site who is begging for doors on the downstairs classrooms because he does not feel safe. DOES NOT FEEL SAFE...did you get that?? Now I ask you, would you feel safe during a code red in a classroom without a door? You and every member of the BOE disgust me! You spend all your time trying to cover up the fact that our schools are NOT safe. Maybe if you had been doing your jobs all along some of these things would not have happened. Implement a new rule. Three strikes your out. Every kid that has been in trouble more than 3 times should be expelled or sent to choices. Stop protecting these thugs because that is all they are!Keep our kids safe!
