The History of 'APRONS'

The History of 'APRONS'

... I don't think our kids know what an apron is. The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few.
It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material.
But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids..

PHILLY SCHOOL DISTRICT REGISTERS 800 STUDENTS SPEAKING 40 LANGUAGES FROM 70 COUNTRIES

City immigrant populations have been on rise since mayor's signage of a pair of executive orders, starting in 2009

The School District of Philadelphia’s special registration for immigrant students who speak a language other than English closes on Aug. 28, giving families of such students roughly two weeks to register their child for the upcoming school year.

Last year, the center registered more than 800 students from more than 70 countries. Collectively, those students spoke more than 40 different native languages.

The district also noted families shouldn’t be concerned about registering their child based on their immigration status. The district referred to Plyler v. DOE, a U.S. Supreme Court decision which held that it is unconstitutional to deny free public education to children who are not legally admitted into the United States.

City immigrant populations have been on the rise since Mayor Michael Nutter’s signage of a pair of executive orders, starting in 2009.

Documents reportedly reveal details behind AT&T-NSA partnership

AT&T in 2003 reportedly led the way on a new collection capability that the National Security Agency said amounted to a “’live’ presence on the global net” and would forward 400 billion Internet metadata records in one of its first months of operation.

The New York Times reported the Fairview program was forwarding more than 1 million emails per day to the agency’s headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland. Meanwhile, the Stormbrew program, linked to Verizon and the former MCI company, was still gearing up to use the new technology, which appeared to process foreign-to-foreign traffic.

According to an internal agency newsletter cited by the newspaper, AT&T began handing over 1.1 billion domestic cellphone calling records a day to the NSA in 2011, after “a push to get this flow operational prior to the 10th anniversary of 9/11.” Intelligence officials told reporters in the past that the effort consisted mostly of landline phone records, the Times reported.

GRASSROOTS NULLIFICATION: KY. CLERK SAYS “NO” TO HOMOSEXUAL “MARRIAGE” LICENSES

Nullification is simply when states declare that since a given federal action is unconstitutional, they will not abide by it.

The media don’t have much to say about “sanctuary cities,” which defy constitutional federal immigration law. But when the matter is a moral-sanctuary locality or bureaucracy that defies the unconstitutional Obergefell faux-marriage ruling, it’s a different story.

And such is the story in Morehead, Kentucky, where a county clerk has responded to the Supreme Court’s constitutional trespass by refusing to issue marriage licenses — to anyone. As the New York Times reports:

Kim Davis, the clerk in Rowan County, who says her Christian faith bars her from authorizingsame-sex marriages, has refused to issue any licenses, either to same-sex or heterosexual couples after the historic ruling in June in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges. She has ignored a direct order from Gov. Steven L. Beshear that she do so.

On Wednesday, Judge David L. Bunning of United States District Court for Eastern Kentucky, ruling in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of four couples — two same-sex and two heterosexual — ordered Ms. Davis to resume issuing licenses. But lawyers for Ms. Davis immediately appealed and sought a stay; Thursday morning, Ms. Davis did not show up at work.

Davis isn’t alone in her opposition. In the wake of Obergefell, 60 Kentucky clerks signed a petition to Governor Beshear stating that they had religious objections to issuing faux-marriage licenses, although most complied with his directive for fear of job loss. And as the Times also tells us, “In Alabama, probate judges in 13 of 67 counties are, like Ms. Davis, declining to issue marriage licenses to anyone. One, Judge Nick Williams of Washington County, has urged the state justices to issue a ‘landmark ruling’ to defy the Supreme Court. And State Senator Greg Albritton is calling for the state to get out of the marriage license business.” In the latter it joins Mississippi, which also may remove itself from the marriage-license business.

Young Hero Honored As Fire Chief For The Day For Saving Aunt’s Life In Resort

OCEAN CITY — The Ocean City Fire Department had a new chief for the day on Monday in 7-year-old Mason Farr, a pint-sized hero who saved his aunt from drowning at a resort water park earlier this summer.

Farr was feted at the Ocean City Fire Department headquarters on 15th Street on Monday morning for his amazing rescue of his aunt, Jenny Mama, at the Jolly Roger water park back on May 25. Mama broke her neck while going down a Splash Mountain water slide and ended up face down in the pool at the bottom, unable to move her arms and legs and taking in copious amounts of water when Farr jumped in and pulled her head out of the water and held her until help arrived.

On Monday, Farr and his family, including Aunt Jenny, along with a bevy of his young friends, were given a tour of the Ocean City Fire Department headquarters on 15th Street. Farr received a Certificate of Appreciation, a fire hat and a badge and was named honorary fire chief for the day. The young hero also met the firemen and paramedics who responded to save his aunt.

Don't Fall for Back to School Tax Holidays

They’re basically worthless.

It’s back-to-school shopping season, and you know what that means: a chance to do some tax-free shopping, picking up No. 2 pencils and new fall clothes at bargain prices.

Wait, you don’t know what I’m talking about? That might be because you don’t live in one of the 18 states that offer shoppers a brief break on their sales tax bill, in many cases this month. The majority of these deals are pitched as a way to help parents stock up on clothes and school supplies for their kids. “If your little ones need some new clothes for school or you want to update your wardrobe, now is the time in Maryland,” proclaimed one local newscast earlier this week, where clothes and shoes under $100 are tax-free through this Saturday. In a recent online survey conducted by Alabama’s Press-Register, consumers said their favorite discount offered over the state’s tax holiday, which took place last weekend, was the temporary break on clothing, followed by electronics. In Georgia a television station had a useful reminder for parents: “If you’re looking ahead to Halloween, know that costumes are tax-free but individual masks are not.”

Trump says he’s willing to spend $1 billion on campaign

DES MOINES, Iowa — Donald Trump is willing to fork over a billion bucks if that’s what it takes to win the White House.

After the TV star and business mogul blew in via his private helicopter Saturday afternoon, he answered a battery of questions from the 100 or so reporters awaiting him at a softball field near the Iowa State Fair.

One question: Is he willing to spend a billion on his campaign, which would match the amounts President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney raised for their 2012 general election races?

Trump answered: “I would do that, yeah, if I had to.”

He added: “I make $400 million a year so what difference does it make?”

Trump also said all undocumented immigrants “have to go” in an interview with NBC News’ Meet the Press host Chuck Todd.

"We're going to keep the families together, but they have to go," he said, speaking on his private plane as it sat on a runway in Des Moines. The interview will air in full Sunday.

JUST IN: Former Fairfax Police officer indicted for murder in shooting death of John Geer

John Geer
FAIRFAX, Va. (WJLA) — Former Fairfax police officer Adam Torres has been indicted for second-degree murder in the shooting death of John Geer, an unarmed Springfield man who was standing in his own doorway talking with police when he was shot two years ago.

"We feel that justice is finally prevailing," Don Geer, John Geer's father, told ABC7 News by phone. "We figured that with patience it would come around. It’s a shame it took this long to get here. It’s another step in the right direction. Part of the healing process. It's been a long, long time to get to this point."

Don Geer says Fairfax County police called him several hours ago to tell him about the indictment.

With Clemency From Obama, Drug Offender Embraces Second Chance

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Rudolph Norris walked out of Morgantown federal prison two weeks ago carrying a duffel bag like no other. First, he had spent six months hand-stitching it himself from dozens of mottled leather scraps, symbolizing the shards of his life he longed to piece back together. Then he unzipped it and pulled out his invitation to try.

“Dear Rudolph,” the letter began, “I wanted to personally inform you that I have granted your application for commutation.”

It was signed “Barack Obama.”

Mr. Norris’s 22 years behind bars over with the stroke of the president’s pen, he showed off the letter to his receiving crowd of siblings, in-laws and, mostly, his all-grown-up daughter, Rajean, who had wondered if she would ever again see her father out of an orange jumpsuit. (“That’s my daddy!” she said as he came into view, sounding like the 8-year-old she had been back when he was sentenced.) Mr. Norris hugged and cried and fist-bumped.

Then the ex-inmate, a newly minted symbol of second chances, rode the family’s rental van from West Virginia back to Maryland.

Delmar Man Arrested for Attempted Robbery

OCEAN CITY, MD – (August 17, 2015): Several Ocean City police officers were dispatched to the area of 4th Street and Washington Avenue on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at approximately 3:30 a.m. after a report of a man with a shotgun. When officers approached the area, a male matching the description of the suspect was located and detained without incident. He was later identified as Lemarvis Trotter, 28, of Delmar, DE.

While on scene, a male victim made contact with officers advising that he had been assaulted by a male matching the description of Trotter. The victim, who was delivering pizza, reported that he observed a male place a shotgun in the trash before approaching him, then attempting to pick-pocket and assault him. Through investigation, it was confirmed that Trotter was the suspect in the incident and he was placed under arrest. Officers conducted a search of the area and located the shotgun, a Remington 870 20-guage, in a dumpster nearby.

Ocean City police have charged Trotter with attempted robbery, second degree assault, possession of a concealed weapon, disorderly and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trotter was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to the Worcester County Jail on $100,000 bond.

O'Malley: "Legitimate" questions surround Clinton's email

When it comes to questions surrounding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email practices Martin O'Malley, one of the people challenging her for the Democratic presidential nomination, says he'll leave that to the press.

"You have a legitimate question to ask and Secretary Clinton and her lawyers can answer it," O'Malley, the former Maryland governor, told "Face the Nation" moderator John Dickerson on Sunday. "From my part as a candidate I intend to put out the ideas and the policies that make college more affordable for more people, that expand Social Security, that get wages to go up again for a majority of us who are working harder instead of down so that's what I'm going to talk about...and I'll leave you to ask Secretary Clinton those other questions."

But O'Malley does have a list of things he'd like to ask Clinton during the six Democratic debates that will take place between October 2015 and March 2016.

Baltimore student GPAs to get boost under new policy

Thousands of Baltimore high school students will see a boost in grade point averages this fall as the district rolls out a policy change that gives students more credit for taking rigorous courses.

The change comes in response to a 2014 revelation — brought to light by students from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute — that city students were earning fewer points toward weighted grade-point averages for honors and Advanced Placement classes than their peers in other school districts across Maryland. That put them at a competitive disadvantage for college acceptance and scholarships.

School board members said last year that they were stunned to learn of the disparity and vowed reform. The new system will now weight honors and AP classes at one of the highest rates in the state. It will be applied to students entering high school this year and retroactively to current students.

Troopers Investigating Dump Truck Crash

Newark, DE- The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a two vehicle crash in which a dump truck overturned that occurred on I-95 in Newark this morning.

The investigation has determined that the crash occurred this morning, Monday, August 17, 2015 at approximately 6:35 a.m., as Luis C. Aucay-Lluisupa, 35, of Salisbury, Maryland, was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Express and was traveling in a southbound direction in the left center lane of I-95 approximately .6 miles south of DE Rt. 141, Newark. Aucay-Lluisupa began to make a right hand lane change into the right center lane of I-95 at which time the right hand side of his vehicle struck the left side of a 2003 Mack dump truck, which was being operated by David R. Welter, 44, of Delaware City, DE, and which was carrying a load of asphalt. The force of the impact caused the dump truck to swerve and travel off of the west edge of the roadway where it then struck a Jersey barrier and overturned before coming to a rest on the right hand shoulder of the highway. Aucay-Lluisupa’s vehicle spun in a counterclockwise direction also leaving the west edge of the highway. It then struck the Jersey barrier and came to rest on the right hand shoulder.

David Welter, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. He was then transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Luis C. Aucay-Lluisupa, who was also properly restrained at the time of the crash, was not injured. He was cited by troopers with Failure to Remain within a Single Lane of Travel and No Valid Operator’s License.

I-95 southbound was partially closed for approximately 3.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Fiorina: Feds bigger threat than global warming

So are education obstacles, web of dependencies

GOP presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina, formerly the chief of Hewlett-Packard, says the federal government itself is a bigger threat to America than so-called global warming.

In a recent interview with Katie Couric, Fiorina was responding to Couric’s question about whether she thinks climate change is a “serious issue.”

“I think it’s an issue,” she said. “I think we ought to be focusing our time, energy and resources on innovations. We need to keep it in perspective.”

Couric interrupted her to repeat the question, asking specifically about how serious Fiorina believes the issue to be.

She said far more dangerous to America is the “web of dependencies” into which people fall, the issue of whether “people are getting a good education” and the “dangers we face around the world.”

Even, she said, “The fact our government is a vast, bloated, unaccountable, corrupt bureaucracy.”

The Political Insider commented: “Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. She is tough and articulate. And after her extraordinary performance during the ‘earlier’ Fox News debate last week, she showed she’s ready for battle. Her polling numbers are skyrocketing.”

Why Liberals are Dangerous and Must Never be in Charge

The Left (liberal mainstream media) practically had a ticker tape parade for Ohio Gov John Kasich for answers he gave on two issues during the GOP debate. Liberals’ praise of Kasich shows they have chosen emotion over logical reasoned thinking. This makes liberals irresponsible and dangerous. These people must never be in charge.

The Left praised Kasich for his entitlement program that is $1.4 billion in the red, thus far – in only 18 months. Kasich defended his program saying it was the Christian thing to do.

First of all, the Bible does not support stupid business practices and irresponsible spending of other people’s money. Proverbs 22:29 “Have you seen a man who is expert in his business? he will take his place before kings; his place will not be among low persons.”

In 1972 Hurricane Agnes flooded our small black Baltimore suburban community. Dad and my brother rescued residents from the roofs of their homes in a rowboat. As a community leader my dad, Rev. Marcus, assisted residents in acquiring relief checks from the Red Cross. My parents were among those who lost everything in the flood. What if Dad took his family’s relief check and distributed it among needy neighbors? Liberals would praise Dad for his compassion for the poor. The reality is Dad’s behavior, though well-intended, would be irresponsible to my mom and younger siblings living at home. Such common sense adult thinking seems to escape liberals.

Gov Kasich furthering an entitlement program that is void of economic sense is irresponsible to taxpayers, no matter how well-intended. Feelings trump common sense these days in America. Liberals will call me a mean Republican who does not care about people for suggesting that politicians spend responsibly. Most liberals are brain-dead emotion-driven fools.

Kasich’s answer regarding gay marriage was the second issue that won him great praise from liberals. Kasich said while he is a traditional guy, the courts made gay marriage law and he will comply. Kasich added that he attended a friend’s gay wedding because we must love people. I am sorry Gov Kasich and Leftists, but it is absurd to suggest that loving someone means embracing everything they do. Once again, more brain-dead emotion-driven liberal reasoning. Sometimes, love means rejecting a friend or family member’s behavior.

Obama Has A Sad Over Heavy Crime Rates In Mostly Democratic Party Run Cities

He does, he really does, especially as he takes a super expensive vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, and the MSM squees over his Spotify list

(The Hill) President Obama on Saturday acknowledged work remains on improving relations between law enforcement and the minority communities they serve.

Obama said Americans must continue tackling class, race and poverty following multiple fatal encounters between police and minorities during 2015 so far.

“Over the past year, we’ve come to see, more clearly than ever, the frustration in many communities of color and the feeling that our laws can be applied unevenly,” he said during his weekly address.

Interestingly, race relations have nose dived during Obama’s time in office.

“But let’s be clear: the issues raised over the past year aren’t new, and they won’t be solved by policing alone,” the president added. “We simply can’t ask our police to contain and control issues that the rest of us aren’t willing to address – as a society.”

What’s even more interesting is how most of these problems seem to occur in cities run mostly/solely by elected officials who ran as Democrats. Baltimore, which has seen much strife? Democrats. There were three killed, and two injured in overnight Thursday shootings. Two were shot Friday, including a city firefighter. There have been over two hundred murders in Democrat Baltimore so far, on pace to be a record year. Obama’s little speech started thusly

Hi everybody. It’s now been a year since the tragic death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. His death—along with the events in Cleveland, Staten Island, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and other communities—sparked protests and soul searching all across our country. Over the past year, we’ve come to see, more clearly than ever, the frustration in many communities of color and the feeling that our laws can be applied unevenly.

Hogan’s critics see ‘War on Baltimore’ as reflection of city’s diminished clout

It’s too early to say for sure that Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is waging a “war on Baltimore,” as critics charge, but analysts say the city has lost so much political and economic clout over the years that the governor is free to spurn the city if he chooses.

In addition, Hogan has strong political and budgetary motives to continue to shift planned spending from heavily Democratic Baltimore to other parts of the state. The approach pleases his conservative supporters in rural and outer suburban areas, who have long grumbled that the city enjoyed favorable treatment and was a wasteful drain of resources.

Hogan’s tense relations with Charm City already have become one of the early themes of his nearly seven-month tenure. He’s off to a more contentious start with Baltimore than the last Republican governor, Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., who took office in 2003.

Hey Christians, Say Goodbye To Religious Freedom

Just in case you need a refresher: Back in 2012, a baker in the Denver suburb of Lakewood was asked by a gay couple to make them a wedding cake—two years before gay marriage was even legalized in Colorado. The owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, Jack Phillips, declined to participate in Charlie Craig and David Mullins’ celebration, because such an event conflicted with his Christian faith.

Here are a few things Phillips didn’t do: He didn’t query consumers about their sexual preferences. He didn’t bar same-sex couples from purchasing a cake at a place of public accommodation. He didn’t ask consumers traveling in same-sex pairs to leave his shop. He didn’t hang a ‘No Gays Allowed’ sign in his window.

What he could never have known when he first opened his shop was that celebrating gay marriages would be a precondition for making a living. And when you consider that there are at least a few dozen other bakerieswithin a short drive from Masterpiece Cakeshop that could have accommodated the couple’s celebratory pastry needs, why would he?

Yet instead of exhibiting a basic level of tolerance (or dignity), two priggish bullies decided to call the authorities when Phillips refused to bake them a cake. And the cultural commissars at Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission soon ruled that he had discriminated against the couple.

The shop was not only ordered to alter store policy and start baking cakes for gay weddings–or else face debilitating fines, a consequence often reported on by the media–but it was also forced to provide comprehensive staff training, ensure compliance, and then file quarterly obedience reports with the government for two full years. In these reports, Phillips had to describe exactly which remedial measures the shop had taken to conform, and document the reasons why any other patrons were denied service.

So, you know, I’m sure this is exactly how Jefferson imagined America would turn out when he was writing the Declaration of Independence.

The Biggest Idiots in Politics: The #Blacklivesmatter Protesters

Nobody is working harder to ensure that black Americans die violently than the #Blacklivesmatter protesters.

Not the KKK. Not the Aryan Nation. Not the American Nazi Party.

In fact, if those groups were smart (and being a part of one of those groups is de facto proof that they’re not), then they’d be doing everything they can to fund the #blacklivesmatter crowd.

Why?

Well, first of all, despite the name, the group doesn’t care about most #blacklives.

On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted PER DAY in the United States. Many of those innocents are slaughtered via Planned Parenthood, an organization founded by a woman who wanted to use abortion to help control the population of black Americans because she believed they were inferior.

The #blacklivesmatter protesters don’t care about those black lives.

They also don’t care about the staggering number of black Americans murdered by other black Americans.

Roughly 8,000 to 9,000 black Americans are murdered per year and per the FBI, from 1980-2008, 93% of black men who were murdered, were murdered by other black men.

Those numbers dwarf the total number of Americans killed by police in more than a decade according to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Per the CDC from 1999 to 2011, “2,151 whites died by being shot by police compared to 1,130 blacks.”

Once again, you can read it all here.

There’ll be pieces when you are done!” Bike racks are monitored at all times when Salisbury’s finest aren’t towing, ticketing, or collecting shoplifters rounded up by local merchants and writing nice, big police reports about them!

Liberals, start screaming: Chick-fil-A restaurant owner does the unimaginable to his employees

You know how AWFUL Chick-fil-A is as a company, right? How the late founder, S. Truett Cathy, raised the ire of many because he was unabashed in his opinion of traditional marriage (practically a crime nowadays in the U.S. of A.) and the company proudly closes on Sundays to observe the Sabbath (a quaint, obsolete idea to many).

Besides Chick-fil-A is a corporation, and corporations are evil, greedy, money-hungry monsters, right?

Okay liberals, how do you explain THIS one?

A Chick-fil-A owner recently had to shut down his Austin, Texas restaurant for five months for renovations, according to the Business Insider.
Instead of temporarily laying off his 50 workers, Jeff Glover shocked his staff by continuing to pay them during the entire five months the restaurant would be closed, ABC affiliate KVUE reports.

Why We Need to Take the ‘Fire’ Out of ‘Fire Department’

Firefighters don't actually fight that many fires these days. It's time to re-think how we deliver costly emergency services.

It's arguably the best known, least acknowledged and most inconvenient truth in local government: "Fire departments" -- in the precise meaning of that label -- no longer exist anywhere in America.

Thousands of official entities bear this or a similar moniker. But given what they and their employees actually do, "Emergency Medical, Incident Response and Every-Once-in-a-While-an-Actual-Fire Department" would be far more accurate.

In 1980, according to the National Fire Protection Association, the nation's 30,000 fire departments responded to 10.8 million emergency calls. About 3 million were classified as fires. By 2013, total calls had nearly tripled to 31.6 million, while fire calls had plummeted to 1.24 million, of which just 500,000 of were actual structure fires. For America's 1.14 million career and volunteer firefighters, that works out to an average of just one structure fire every other year.

Route 29 Batman is killed after his Batmobile breaks down along a Maryland highway

The Route 29 Batman, whose roadside encounter with Montgomery County police three years ago made him a viral sensation around the world, has died.

Lenny B. Robinson, the 51-year-old Maryland man who drove a black Lamborghini and dressed as Batman to visit sick children in hospitals, was struck by a car on I-70 Sunday night near Hagerstown after his Batmobile broke down. He was coming home from a car show in West Virginia.

Robinson had just stopped at a gas station, where he met a family whose children were interested in his custom-made car, state police in Hagerstown said. Robinson gave the kids some Batman paraphernalia before leaving about the same time as his new acquaintances. When they saw him pull over, they did the same.

Rails to Trails @ Tuesday County Council Meeting

There will be a public hearing for a study for a Rails to Trails from Salisbury to Mardela at the Wicomico County Council meeting this Tuesday, August 18 at 10:30 am. It is included in a public hearing for a Maryland Department of Transportation letter on a consolidated transportation program. Some opposition is expected from some adjacent landowners.

If we want this to proceed to the first step it will be important to have folks there to speak in favor. Even just your presence would be important if you can make it and bring others.

This is a great first step for Wicomico County to make for family friendly off-road biking. It would provide a safe trail for families with children who need this to introduce cycling to small children and for seniors who do not feel safe on narrow county roads. It would begin to bring Wicomico County into another phase of safe cycling that is proving popular across the country.

Please feel free to share this with cycling friends and supporters. We need to demonstrate a strong demand for this if it is to become reality. Sorry for the late alert. We just learned of this.

Emails to the Council President, John Cannon, and Vice President Matt Holloway will also help if you cannot be present:

U.S. Super Cold, Slew of Snow in Old Farmer's Almanac Forecast

Just when you thought you had gotten over last winter, be warned: The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts it will be super cold with a slew of snow for much of the country, even in places that don't usually see too much of it, like the Pacific Northwest.

If you don't want to read about those four-letter words, there's plenty more to peruse in the folksy, annual book of household tips, trends, recipes and articles, such as animal jealousy, the history of shoes and anticipation for the biggest Supermoon in decades in November 2016.

Otherwise, look for above-normal snow and below-normal temperatures for much of New England; icy conditions in parts of the South; and frigid weather in the Midwest. The snowiest periods in the Pacific Northwest will be in mid-December, early to mid-January and mid- to late February, the almanac predicts.

A Letter To The Editor 8-18-15

Today, as I do most days, I checked the NYSE pre-market activity. I found that futures were up..... And then dropped after the manufacturing numbers from New York were much much lower than anticipated. I decided to back away from today's data and look at recent past activity. I found that recently most numbers were predicted by the "experts" to be higher which pushed the market higher and when earnings came in lower than expected the market plunged. Common sense....right? Then I backed up a little more.

I looked at the Dot Com "bubble" before it popped. The so called experts were proclaiming that not even Alan Greenspan could slow the tech market.......and people invested. Millions were lost.

I looked even further back to the benchmark event that changed the lives of Americans forever - the Great Depression. Just prior to the collapse of the stock market the experts of that time were selling the stock market to investors claiming that the economy would never slow down causing people to invest heavily. And we all know what happened next. Even Herbert Hoover in 1930 immediately following the collapse was stating publicly that the depression was over. History shows that it clearly was just beginning.

We are continuously being sold lies by people who benefit financially on our losses. We can look back 100 years and find undeniable examples of this. I'm not some liberal hater of "rich white guys". I'm very conservative - but I'm also a realist. While investing in the stock market can be lucrative it can also be a vehicle by which you can be lured into a situation where your life's savings can be stripped from you. Many of the Wall Street experts exist solely to boost your confidence in a market they know has failed fairly regularly since the Great Depression by convincing you to ignore facts that are right in front of your face. These facts do not paint a pretty picture for the global economy.

Some of these facts?

Oil prices are down. But isn't that good? NO not this low. Oil prices this low indicates our global oil market is glutted. Why? Because globally manufacturing is down....because demand is down. This is indicative of a slowing economy - worldwide. Want to add insult to injury? When the sanctions on Iran are lifted the global oil stockpiles will even be higher. Iran has millions of barrels of oil ready for market sitting in tankers in the gulf. This will happen overnight when the sanctions are formally lifted. The oil companies will be laying off thousands when this occurs. Those who are laid off will not be purchasing as many manufactured goods......you can see where this goes.

The reduction of the size of our military will reduce the number of military, contracts will be reduced, and military contractors will be laying off people.

The IMF meets in October to decide if the greenback will remain the worlds reserve currency. Many people believe that our dollar will lose that status. If so, trillions of dollars will migrate out of this country and our ability to borrow money from other countries at a low interest rate will go away. BIG PROBLEM since are tax revenues can't service the interest on our current debt.

Folks history repeats itself because human beings are creatures of habit.

Look at the world around you. It's spiraling out of control. Big government we can't afford. Wars we can't afford. Financially supporting countries we can't afford. Entitlements we can't afford. Borrowing money we can't ever pay back. What does this mean to you all? We are bankrupt!! Where does the money come from to pay for these things? Us! That means when they call the note WE are bankrupt.

It's been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Hmmmmmm....

Our stock market is artificially high now. When it "corrects" who will lose? You and me. Don't let these experts convince you all is fine the way people were convinced in the hours and days before the collapse of 1929.

Clinton Defies the Law and Common Sense

Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct public business while serving as secretary of state, followed by the deletion of information on that server and the transfer to her lawyer of a thumb drive containing heretofore unexplored data, engages several issues of criminal law—but the overriding issue is one of plain common sense.

Let’s consider the potentially applicable criminal laws in order of severity.

It is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than a year to keep “documents or materials containing classified information . . . at an unauthorized location.” Note that it is the information that is protected; the issue doesn’t turn on whether the document or materials bear a classified marking. This is the statute under which David Petraeus—former Army general and Central Intelligence Agency director—was prosecuted for keeping classified information at home. Mrs. Clinton’s holding of classified information on a personal server was a violation of that law. So is transferring that information on a thumb drive to David Kendall, her lawyer.

Washington Post: Say, Could Black People Qualify As Refugees?

This is something that Raha Jorjani wonders in the opinion pages of the Washington Post. It should be noted that Jorjani is an “immigration lawyer”, who quite often represents those who came to this country illegally.

Suppose a client walked into my office and told me that police officers in his country had choked a man to death over a petty crime. Suppose he said police fatally shot another man in the back as he ran away. That they arrested a woman during a traffic stop and placed her in jail, where she died three days later. That a 12-year-old boy in his country was shot and killed by the police as he played in the park.

Suppose he told me that all of those victims were from the same ethnic community — a community whose members fear being harmed, tortured or killed by police or prison guards. And that this is true in cities and towns across his nation. At that point, as an immigration lawyer, I’d tell him he had a strong claim for asylum protection under U.S. law.

What if, next, he told me he was from America? Black people in the United States face such racial violence that they could qualify as refugees.

That’s an interesting thought: Black people needing asylum from the deplorable conditions that mostly occur in Democratic Party run cities around the country. Why are Democrats treating Black people with such disregard and violence?

According to U.S. asylum law, that persecution must be on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion. In many cases, courts have said that violence by police officers, unjust imprisonment, rape, assault, beatings and confinement constitute persecution. Even nonphysical forms of harm, such as the deliberate imposition of severe economic disadvantage, psychological harm, or the deprivation of food, housing, employment or other essentials, help make the case. In one instance, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that an individual who had been arrested, held for three days and then falsely accused of a crime had been persecuted. In another case, it ruled that persecution included ethnic discrimination so severe that the petitioner was unable to find a job in his chosen field.

State Police Helicopter Rescues Victim From Appalachian Trail

A Maryland State Police Helicopter crew performed a hoist rescue over the Appalachian Trail on the afternoon of August 15, 2015. Shortly after 11:30 AM, the Maryland State Police Helicopter Dispatch Center (SYSCOM) received a call from Washington County 911 Center regarding a sick hiker on the Appalachian Trail near High Rock/Fort Ritchie. Preliminary information indicated that there was an individual suffering from a medical illness in a remote area at the bottom of a steep cliff. The remote location and steep terrain precluded a timely extrication by ground.

The crew of Trooper 3, based at Frederick Municipal Airport, was dispatched and immediately began preparing for a hoist rescue. Once overhead, an aerial reconnaissance was conducted and the crew determined that the best method of extraction was to employ a rescue basket.

After positioning the aircraft over the victim at an altitude of approximately 130 feet, a rescue basket was lowered down to the Fire/EMS crew tending to the victim. The crew assisted the victim into the basket and Trooper 3 hoisted the individual into the aircraft. Once inside the aircraft, the crew of Trooper 3 continued to administer advanced life support medical care and transported the patient a short distance to Meritus Medical Center for further evaluation.

Trooper 3 was assisted at the scene by ground units from Washington County Fire & Rescue, the Washington County Special Operations / Advanced Technical Rescue Team, and Franklin County (Pennsylvania) Fire and Rescue.

The Maryland State Police Aviation Command operates a fleet of 10, Augusta-Westland AW139, helicopters based out of 7 sections throughout the state. This mission is a clear demonstration of the multi-mission capability these aircraft provide to our allied public safety partners and the citizens of Maryland.

High School Girl Sues For Right To Organize Pro-Life Club

Being pro-life just is not politically correct, which makes it a problem for those in power who attempt to please every identity group.

Angelique Clark says she wanted to start a pro-life group on her school’s campus but was denied by the administration because abortion was controversial, would make people feel left out, and that others were “more qualified” to talk about the issue.

Clark teamed up with the religious legal group the Thomas More Society to file a lawsuit against her school, the West Career and Technical Academy, and the Clark County School District.

“When I first applied to form a pro-life club, I never imagined I would have to sue my school to be able to exercise my free speech rights,” Clark, a junior at the academy, said in a statement. “My fellow pro-life students and I simply want to make our voices heard and to educate other students on a topic that’s important to us – choosing life. We hope for a quick resolution that allows us to get the West Career and Technical Academy Pro-Life Club up and running as soon as possible.”

A spokeswoman from the school district told The Daily Caller News Foundation they have not yet been served and do not comment on pending litigation.

“We are proud of Angelique for not allowing her school administrators to trample her free speech rights,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America. “She is determined to be a voice for the preborn and their mothers, even though she’s been faced with so much resistance,” stated Hawkins, adding, “We are thankful for our attorneys at the Thomas More Society who are standing up for Angelique’s right to form a Students for Life club.”

Apology From Housing Secretary Over Lead Remarks

Through a spokeswoman, Maryland Housing Secretary Ken Holt has apologized for remarks he made Friday suggesting that parents would deliberately poison their children with lead, in order to force landlords into settlements in lead paint suits and to give them free housing.

Holt's original comments came on Friday during a speech to the Maryland Association of Counties Summer Conference in Ocean City, in which he promised he would ask the legislature to pass a bill limiting a landlord's liability in lead poisoning cases.

By Saturday afternoon, Holt's press secretary Audra Harrison issued the following statement:
"The secretary deeply regrets his comments and apologizes to anyone he offended. His statements do not reflect administration or departmental policy. Both the administration and department take the issue of lead poisoning very seriously and will always work protect the health and safety of Marylanders."

Barack Obama: Civilian Task Force To Improve Policing With ‘Communities Of Color’

Yeah, this should work really well. It has disaster written all over it from top to bottom. Obama has formed a task force for community policing. It’s sure to be racist, biased and Marxist as all get-out. That’s all we need is a bunch more of his so-called ‘community organizers.’ Obama now wants all police to wear body cams, which I don’t have an issue with. But he also wants to massively reduce those who are incarcerated by letting stone-cold criminals go free. Especially if they are of color or are illegal immigrants. This is also part of his move to federalize local police departments. This task force is nothing better than a bunch of government sanctioned snitches who will report on those who don’t follow Obama’s diktats. Of course he wants to share data and information nationally… it makes it easier to track Americans and punish those that run afoul of his agenda, while simultaneously letting those who are the actual criminals run free.

Clinton Email Scandal Update

Judicial Watch Takes Lead on Hillary Clinton Email Scandal

Judicial Watch has had remarkable success in using the court process to obtain answers on the burgeoning email scandal, including from Hillary Clinton herself.

Since my report to you last week, events have moved quickly.

First, a JW Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit forced Mrs. Clinton to do what no other congressional committee, FBI, or Justice Department investigation has been able to do – submit information, under penalty of perjury, about her email system. The week began with the U.S. State Department submitting to a federal court an August 8 sworn declaration from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton regarding federal records on her controversial email system. The declaration states:

I, Hillary Rodham Clinton, declare under penalty of perjury that the following is true and correct:

While I do not know what information may be “responsive” for purposes of this law suit, I have directed that all my e-mails on clintonemail.com in my custody that were or potentially were federal records to be provided to the Department of State, and on information and belief, this has been done.

As a result of my directive, approximately 55,000 pages of these emails were produced to the Department on December 5, 2014.

Cheryl Mills did not have an account on clintonemail.com. Huma Abedin did have such an account which was used at times for government business.

The document is signed by “Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

Illegal Accused In Horrible Triple Homicide In Florida

A 19-year-old illegal immigrant was being held without bail Saturday after the discovery of three bodies at a crime scene in a Florida home that veteran cops called “almost unimaginable.”

Brian Omar Hyde appeared before a judge Friday on charges he killed his pregnant cousin Starlett Pitts, 17, and her 19-year-old boyfriend in a Lehigh Acres home Tuesday, and then killed his aunt and Pitts’ mother, Dorla Pitts, 37, when she walked in on the scene while on the phone with her husband. Lee County deputies said he heard her scream, “Brian! What happened here? What happened?” before the phone went silent.

“All homicide scenes are normally violent but even for us this scene was what we considered almost unimaginable,” Lt. Matt Sands said Thursday, according to WBBH-TV.

Hyde was in the country illegally from Belize in Central America and awaiting a court hearing as an illegal immigrant, having crossed the Texas border earlier this year, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

He fled to the U.S. to live with his aunt to avoid a trial in a Belize courtroom on charges of assaulting a police officer last November, the station said. He was then tried in absentia, found guilty, and given a 6-month jail sentence that remains to be served.

Hyde was also wanted in Belize on charges of robbing a cell phone store, the station said, while also reporting, according to reports, that the teen and two other men were suspects in a double homicide in 2013. Eventually, he was charged with a lesser crime of handling stolen goods.

Brilliant Response to Liberal Claim “My Body, My Choice”

How often do you hear a liberal woman selfish child trapped in a grown liberal woman’s body make the claim, “My body, my choice”. I see it literally every time we write about the importance of being pro-life. It’s right up there with the, “How is a MAN trying to tell me what to do with my body?”

The fact that it’s even a debate whether or not a woman is able to kill an unborn child because she was irresponsible and doesn’t want to be punished with a baby (as Obama likes to say) is mind-boggling. I guess they are consistent thought that don’t believe in personal responsibility under any circumstances.

Our Country of Muslims

Never have there been in our government, so many individuals who belong to a religion that you either join or you will be killed?

When you read this you will understand why Obama refuses to say the words "radical Islam."

Did you know that we now have a Muslim government?

John Brennan, current head of the CIA converted to Islam while stationed in Saudi Arabia.

Obama's top advisor, Valerie Jarrett, is a Muslim who was born in Iran where her parents still live.

Hillary Clinton's top advisor, Huma Abedin is a Muslim, whose mother and brother are involved in the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for Homeland Security, Arif Aikhan, is a Muslim.

Homeland Security Advisor, Mohammed Elibiary, is a Muslim.

Obama advisor and founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Salam al-Marayati, is a Muslim.

Obama's Sharia Czar, Imam Mohamed Magid, of the Islamic Society of North America is a Muslim.

Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships, Eboo Patel, is a Muslim.

It's questionable if Obama ever officially took the oath of office when he was sworn in. He didn't repeat the oath properly to defend our nation and our Constitution. Later the Democrats claimed he was given the oath again in private?

CIA director John Brennan took his oath on a copy of the Constitution, not a Bible.

Congressman, Keith Ellison took his oath on a copy of the Qur'an.

Congresswoman Michele Bachman was vilified and almost tarred and feathered by Democrats when she voiced her concern about Muslims taking over our government.

Considering all these appointments, it would explain why Obama and his minions are systematically destroying our nation, supporting radical Muslim groups worldwide, opening our southern border, and turning a blind eye to the genocide being perpetrated on Christians all over Africa and the Middle East.

The more damage Obama does, the more arrogant he becomes!

Our nation and our government has been infiltrated by people who want to destroy us. It can only get worse!

Bikers Heard This Marine’s Remains Were Coming Home in a USPS Box. They Stepped Up in a Big Way!

Staff Sergeant Jonathan Turner served seven tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and died last week in California from combat-related injuries.

His mother was unable to make the trip from Georgia to California for the funeral and the Marine Corps handled all of the funeral arrangements – including shipping Staff Sergeant ashes back home.

And that didn’t sit well with Patriot Guard riders, so they stepped up by creating a caravan and personally escorting SSgt Turner’s remains all the way across the country.

“I got on the road at 6 o’clock [Friday] night out of Huntsville, Alabama and I rode over to Oklahoma,” Asha Lamy said. “I need the family to know that you’re not alone and we care.”

Cops' TV show filming in Anne Arundel with county police

Bad boys take note — Anne Arundel’s finest are coming for you.

County police confirmed Thursday officials are working with the television show “Cops.” Although Justin Mulcahy, a department spokesman, said crews were following officers in the county, he declined to discuss details about the times and locations of filming, citing safety concerns.

Crews are following officers in several places in the county, said Lt. Ryan Frashure, an agency spokesman.

“This is a great way to showcase the great job our officers are doing,” Frashure said.
