Freddie Gray’s Pastor: ‘Justice Has To Be Won Some Kind Of Way’

BALTIMORE (WJZ ) — The death of Freddie Gray, the unrest and upcoming trials have impacted Baltimore like few other stories this year.

WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren has a conversation with the reverend who worked to help Gray in his final months alive; his candid views on justice, and what’s ahead.

Reverend Keith Bailey considered himself a father figure to Freddie Gray, and he reflected on the tumultuous eight months since Gray’s death.

Pastor Bailey says every day he thinks about Freddie Gray, what happened inside the police van and why the case sparked such outrage in Baltimore and across the country.

  1. And why was he there? For court ordered community service.

  2. maybe he or his father, whoever that is, should have consulted with little Freddie before the long rap sheet began

  5. Freddie Gray was a scumbag BUT he went into that police van alive and came out dead and the cops know exactly what happened to him and now they must pay for their crime which is probably 2nd degree murder. If those cops walk I think Baltimore and a whole lot of other cities will burn and it ain't gonna be pretty.

    1. He had a history of trying 2 injure himself in police custody. Its a common Baltimore thug scam. He jest did too good of a tob of it. But his family sure appreciates his efforts as they spend their ill gotten loot.

    3. Once the rubble and ashes and dead cockroaches are cleared away, it'll be a lot prettier than it is now, in certain areas.

Clear out the debris, weeds and detritus, raze it, and let new, healthy growth take it over again.

  6. Freddie was a poster boy for a thug. End of story. Libs want to play up his death to play down the black on black murders. BLM is still trying to bury the story of the 9 year black youth shot 3 times in the head by his father's competing gang.

And you are a clueless idiot. Not one of those cops committed a crime! They were doing their jobs and I pray that if you need them during an emergency that they will be to busy to respond. You don't deserve the protection.

"the cops know exactly what happened to him" Really? What nonsense. You have no clue whether or not "the cops know exactly what happened to him."
In law school, you learn to make arguments which support a position, "probably 2nd degree murder". Your argument, even at its best, relates to civil liability, i.e., a duty to maintain Gray's welfare. It has no relevance to the criminal charges, which, must carry with them a sufficient mens rea (intent) as well as evidence which meets each element of the criminal offense.

  11. If you were his pastor for 2 years mentoring him, and it was after all court requested counseling then you failed him you must have believed his lies. Why did you not work with the police department to stop these thugs like "scared straight". You can talk all you want my husband retired as a correctional officer he said they went to church services in Prison but walked out of the Church services laughing and making fun of those "church" people it was just a free hour out of their cells. Same thing for you do good works not just talk, it didn't work get it?

  12. Every taxpayer in Maryland needs to enter into a class action lawsuit against the Grays to recover the Funds we provided in the Marxist scam in Baltimore ... we all should go after our part of the 6 Million Dollars that should have come from Civil Law process ..not an award from a racist incompetent grubbing Governor wanna be with no purview to pass judgement

    1. That $6.4 million gift to the Gray family, is only a fraction of what they, and dead Freddie, have cost the taxpayers throughout their lifetimes.

  13. 3:09 people walk into hospitals every day. Many don't come out alive. I guess that is 2nd degree murder. You must have grown up close to some power lines. They are implying that not seat belting him in constitutes murder. No they lost the Ferguson lie so they went to the next best case. Libtards will do anything to justify lazy scum that steal from the working class. Sorry the world is a better place without ole Freddy. Yep six cops of various race set out to kill Freddy in broad daylight. Really mouth breather
