A Letter To The Editor 9-9-15

Joe, check this out.

Super Giant awards customers with gas points to redeem at 2 Shell stations in Salis. one on College Ave. and the other North 13 near the mall. For the past month I was using the one on college Ave and Snow hill rd. Every time I went to use this station I had up to 70 cents off a gallon of gas. I would get 10 cents off I used my card. Their excuse was the computer was down. I had enough of their BS. This afternoon I used 13 N. and got credit for my 70 cents off a gallon. I have Super Giant Corp. 800 number and will report them Tuesday. All stay away Shell Station on SNOW HILL RD AND COLLEGE AVE.

  1. This happened to me too. I should have gotten 40 cents off and it only gave me 20. Crooked gas station, Giant needs to cut their ties with this one.

  2. This has happened to us a lot at the Snow Hill Road / College ave location. They keep telling us that its the computer. We have complained about them to Giant and Giant has given us gift certificates for the amount of money lost.

For those that don't know how this works it goes like this....

You go inside and give you Giant Card and your credit card. You pump your gas and then go inside and pay the discounted price. Back when gas was higher in price we would pay about $30 - $50 for 35 gallons of gas if we had the discount.

The issue though was we knew we had the max amount of points which is $2.20 off per gallon. Back when gas was around $3.70 per gallon we would bring both cars and fill them up and even top off a gas can. We expected to only pay at the time $52.50 instead of $129.00.

We went into the store and gave our Giant card and credit credit card and then pumped our gas. When we went in to pay we get a bill of $126.00. The guy says its the computer. Nothing can be done at that point. You have the gas pumped and even though you didn't plan to pay that much money you have too.

The excuse that the computer was down doesn't wash because if the system wasn't communicating with the computer you wouldn't get any discount at all.

This has happened to us 4 times and only at that location. We went to it because it was very close to wear we live. We have since learned that by swiping the Giant card at the pump they can't rip you off. So we never go inside any more.

This is almost 100% a scam on the part of the person cash register. I suggest calling Giant and report them. In time hopefully something will be done but watch out for these scam artist at this Shell location.

On a side note we spent only $ 0.10 cents per gallon the other day. We used just under 30 gallons. A car pulled up to the other side of the pump and we gave him a little over 5 gallons. The guy offered to pay us we we said it only cost us an extra .50 cent so don't worry about it. This guy said he moved to Salisbury for a job (I know that an oddity right there) and has yet to come across a person who has been helpful or kind and we were the first.

If you have huge savings from the gas points be sure to share if you can. You never know how much this may help another person.

  6. I don't want any favors or discounts.I pay the price on the pump and go on my way without ill will toward anyone.I'm just happy that the price of gas is falling.Maybe my #2 fuel oil price will be a little less painful.

  7. Don't go inside. It has worked fine for us by swiping your card at the pump.

  8. Funny, that happened to me a couple of times. But I entered my Giant card number at the pump instead of going in and it either gives me $0.10 or $0.20 never any more than that. I attributed it to the points not being credited right away. I went to the Giant store and verified that the amount shown at the bottom on the receipt was in fact the amount that is credited to the gas points and they agreed. The CSR told me it only takes a few minutes before it is credited. The last time I got gas there I took my receipt in BEFORE I pumped my gas and the man said that it will credit. So I entered teh info on the screen at the pump and it still said $0.10 I went inside and I asked the man about the discrepancy and told me that it was only $0.10 off as that is what was showing on the pump outside and he had no way to credit it. I will go North from no on. There is a Shell station near Johnnies but I dare not go there and a lady at Giant told me that they only allow up to 20 gallons for the discount anyway.

  9. If you swipe at the pump instead of going inside you see the actual price change on the pump before you start to fill your tank. This way you know your getting your discount. Going inside allows these scam artist to screw you.

Remember to contact Giant when this happens. They will add more points or give you a gift certificate.

Giant needs to know that these guys are scamming their customer's.

  10. I had problems there as well, didn't go back ever.

  11. Yea, the one on Snow Hill Road ALWAYS screws you out of your 'true' gas points discount. HORRIBLE location and they blame it on the computer, but don't ever do anything to rectify the situation. The Shell station in Eden participates as well & I've never had issues there.

  13. Same thing happened to me. We the people of the USA need to stop supporting these businesses and I will go away. Gas points or not...I will not purchase anything from them. I feel Giant needs to get a new deal with a new company or just change their rewards program.

  14. I have had a similar issue at the shell station in Delmar. But the station in Laurel Junction works just fine.

  15. I have no sympathy for anyone who deals there. My one and only visit told me don't go back. One look at the owner told the story.
