Sounds like he is in damage control. I still believe he is a sell out to the BOE and special interests involved. Still believed he should be recalled. He can spin this any way he wants. The people won't forget. I'm just glad I didn't vote for him!!!! Liberals are all the same!
People have been asking for this for years to help stop the out of control spending of the BOE. It's our tax money. We should have a voice in how it is spent!!!!
So, do we ask again why he was for it before he was opposed to it? Was it a Democrat as County Executive at the time that made up his mind and now that a Republican is at the helm he is back peddling?
It is quite evident that he is asleep at the wheel.
Yo, Liberal Jim, ask your buddy Norm Goneway why he didn't get reelected....!
Yo, Liberal Jim, listen to your constituents - they spoke a number of times on this specific issue - in a number of different ways! If you add the number of discussions and participants on this forum alone, you should be able to come up with a number representing a good chunk of the county you just ignored!
Yo, Liberal Jim, prepare to join your buddy Norm Goneway in retirement...ignoring your constituents like he did...after hiding the PMT report will turn enough of the folks that supported you last time to vote for someone that will listen to them!
LMAO, This letter is such an amateur attempt. I'm not even going to bother. Hey Jim, we've got more hungry newcomers lined up in the wings, thanks for making next time even easier, Miller's millions won't save you again. Just like Conway.
So over 70% are for a fully elected and Jim didn't modify the bill? I can see the education mailers already. Screen shots made, notes being taken, winning!
8:38 says, Jim,just look to the other Md counties that do it,you make it sound like you need a blue ribbon panel to figure out.
Forty-six states have a sales tax. I would rather live in one of the four that does not follow the crowd. The same here. Our elected school board does just fine. Most of the proponents of the elected board don't care about public education they just want to spend less money on public education. This cheapness has been a historic problem in this county and was part of the problem before I became aware of it in the early 1970's.
He sounds like the FDA trying to approve a new drug! Well we need to do more studies to see if this what the people want! Hello Jim, is anybody home? For how many YEARS have we been asking for an elected school board?

Ya Think! He was also endorsed by the state and local teachers unions before the deadlines to file for election. Guess how much money came from the lawless teachers unions. Jim Mathias had more money in his coffers than any person in the general election and all donated by special interest groups such as the lawless teachers union. Jim Mathias is controlled by special interests groups. Jim Mathias has sold his soul to the Devil just so he can have the important title of "Senator." Jim Mathias can not be trusted by the average citizen.
Senator Mathias begins this letter with a blatant lie. When a grass roots group of citizens opposed the industrial wind project in Somerset, he ignored them and lobbied against their position in Annapolis. Supporting the Great Bay Wind project took away their voice and choice.
Based on the comment from 10:47, I guess it will be a cold day in hell before he would sign off on an elected school board. We need a recall on this jerk asap!!!!!
Stop backpedaling and making excuses Jim, it makes you look cheap. Stand up, be a man and tell the truth. The people spoke, you listened and did what you damned well pleased. Your mistake will cost you thousands of votes and we won't let it rest, we are tired of not being represented by our elected officials.
Put the question to referendum and have public meetings about it at that time. Write articles, send letters to the editor, hold debates, whatever to support one side or the other. It is highly arrogant to believe voters who elected this man don't have sense enough to vote on how their school board should be determined. Does he see himself as evidence that Wicomico County's electorate is not too bright?
"Does he see himself as evidence that Wicomico County's electorate is not too bright?"
Probably. You know it was a democrat-the democrat who wrote obamacare who right out of his own mouth said obamacare will pass and become law because "of the STUPiD American voters." Right out of a democrats mouth. Democrat politicians and democrat insiders think those that vote democrat are stupid and I have to agree. Probably the only thing I agree with that a democrat has said.
If Mathias is so bent on voice and choice why does he and the finance committe keep holding the smart meter vote out of the hands of the Senate floor two years in a row. Its because he's a liar that should have NEVER been re-elected. I took the liberty to research the campaign contributions he's took from the power companies in the state; some of which are in the northwestern Md. area and thats why the vote is being with-held. Him and his dumbocratic croneys' are bought and paid for. When his staff comes up with this bul&^%^$t about giving the people a choice I get nausiated. To start with he's not smart enough to draft such a letter. It is prose aimed at being a smoke screen to hide ALL of the dirty things he and his confederates do EVERY session of the legislature. Don't worry, this hot potato may be just what the doctor ordered to make McDermott the Senator from this district. He's TOO damn comfortable in the job he's got JUST LIKE NORMAN CONWAY WAS. Dear Mr. Mathias - in your letter your contention;
'I truly believe the opportunity for public dialogue with an honest exchange of ideas has been inadequate.'
My response: Where in the hell have you been . . .I have attended countless meetings before the Wicomico County Council whereby this subject was brought up time and time again. The elected school board was brought up before Council President Gail Bartkovich, then, it was brought up again under, both, Council President Joe Holloway and Council President Matt Holloway.
This letter shows none other than your ignorance as to the local actions that are going on with your own community.
You really ought to resign . . . and more seriously be recalled by the voters themselves. Your arrogance is abound in your letter that there was not adequate public input. Truly - you are a disgrace to our citizenry.
Sounds like he is in damage control. I still believe he is a sell out to the BOE and special interests involved.
ReplyDeleteStill believed he should be recalled. He can spin this any way he wants. The people won't forget. I'm just glad I didn't vote for him!!!! Liberals are all the same!

A vote for Jim Mathias = a vote against eastern shore values.
