A Letter To The Editor: Delmarva Power
I'm not sure if you know this or not but when the Home Energy Programs sent money to them to help someone pay their bill. Instead of applying the whole amount sent to them all at once they are now spreading it out over the year (without letting any one know till they call and ask about it). Someone I know was granted $156.00 but DP only applied $13.00. That still leaves a balance that they then add $58.00 to each month. I feel acting this way is only to get more money. Please let your viewers know that now DP is blaming a State Law for this. When checking your balance it states that the whole amount was made but when getting your bill it shows only the $13.00 was applied. I feel this is not right. Who can I call to help my friend? Thank you for your time on this.
I would just be VERY thankful that I got the help, even though it is spread over months! Am I missing anything?

ReplyDelete3 months of $700 bills. After the second bill we turned off our heat. $200 in actual usage the rest delivery charges. Unbelievable no help for us smh

ReplyDeleteIt's not that she isn't thankful but when their automatic system states one thing but the bill says something else it's upsetting. When you live off of less then $1,300.00 a month and try to budget your money and rent is $600.00 you have to watch every penny. The least DP should have done was to inform the customer of this action. She has not asked for help in the past and is embarrassed that she had to ask for help this time. She does not get food stamps or any other help. So try to be kind if it is in you. A letter or phone call would have been nice or have their system state the real amount that was applied. That is her point.

ReplyDeletewe can't afford to pay for necessities of life after paying the Electric/Heating Bills. We
qualify for no help due to income they say is to high---yet we can't
afford to pay for things needed in
our lives.
We are on the yrly budget plan !
Sooo---don't "shoot people down", thinking they're looking for handouts----most aren't ---they're
just trying to survive!!
Budget plan evens out the high months of heat and AC with the low months using none. Mine is $244 a month year round in a house with everything electric.
ReplyDeleteDelmarva Power seems to want to sock it to us in any way they can. I opted out of the smart meter. In February I got my bill that was 'estimated' since when they were suppose to read the meter there was snow. That was fine with me. However I did notice they STILL charged me that monthly $17 fee that month anyway even though they never came out to read the meter. How is that even legal.
ReplyDelete12:38, It's 'legal' because our State politicians and the Energy Commission allow them to rob and steal from us.
ReplyDeleteI sympathize with anyone who is struggling to pay their own bills with only a small income, through no fault of their own. But nowadays, "seniors" aren't the only ones on "fixed incomes" by a long shot. Anyone who works a full time job, if they are lucky enough to have one, is on a "fixed income" except without the guarantee of that income.
