Inspections ordered after concrete falls from bridge
ANNAPOLIS, Md. —Maryland's acting transportation secretary orders inspections of all state-owned bridges that are similar to one on which a piece of concrete fell off this week onto a car below.
Pete Rahn said Thursday the directive for 27 bridges will help the state immediately identify any bridges in need of repair.
The inspections will start immediately and take several days.
Each inspection will involve teams of specially-trained bridge inspectors to identify and repair any loose concrete. The bridges that are being inspected were all built before 1969 and have traffic underneath.
I thought all bridges were inspected on a regular basis. Stupid me for thinking our government would spend my tax money on appropriate things like the funding of transportation. Maybe it is time for new inspectors that do the job properly.
