Action sports event won't be back for summer 2015
The Dew Tour Beach Championships, an action sports competition that brought Ocean City's beach and Boardwalk to millions of global television viewers, has decided not to return to the resort for a fifth consecutive summer tour stop.
Ocean City spokeswoman Jessica Waters said Dew Tour officials reached out to the town with the news, saying a format change for 2015 means they would not be taking Dew Tour to an East Coast beach destination for summer 2015.
"It's nothing against Ocean City," she said. "We had record breaking attendance every year, and we're certainly one of their favorite tour stops. Historically, they never did stay in any one place too long. I hate to speculate, but I think it was time for them to switch it up. They have programming they need to keep fresh. This is an example of going out on the very top."
This is because of the thug entertainment that shows up trashing the neighborhood i live here in Oc screw them.
ReplyDelete513-Oh, you mean you hate revenue generating events? Too bad, you live in a resort town; that for the most part is circling the drain. I'm sure you're looking forward to when it goes back to the "ol' days". You know, when property values were next to nothing lol
ReplyDeleteYes thAt would be fine,go back to slumsbury md to the hood.
DeleteCrisfield no different spend your tourist dollars, but don't stay. Your an outsider and we really don't want you just your money.
ReplyDeleteOcean City is on the verge of switching over to 20 yo foreign public service employees which will make the town "terror" friendly for those who want to deal harm to non Muslims. When you consider that their Transportation manager is a former employee from a local chicken plant and that their Mayor hasn't don't much more than serve as a real estate sales rep, do you expect any actual wisdom from them?
ReplyDeleteHistory will prove what I say because the last Mayor from OC is now your Senator trying to profit from a drug growing operation in Snow Hill.
Good ole Royal Flush!
You all will be crying a giant river come summer when all that traffic breathes life into those rural towns. I live in OC but I'm from one of those little towns and trust me, we LOVE OC traffic!
ReplyDeleteOh and you are welcome for justifying your transportation infrastructure.
All those strict rules. No weeklys and ciggs killed that
ReplyDeleteLike most businesses probably not making enough money to make it worthwhile, just a sign of the times.
ReplyDeleteHahaha Slumbury#!! So true. They hate SO much they even bash our mayor. PRICELESS
ReplyDeleteOC needs private clubs to keep out undesirables.
ReplyDeleteNope to most of the comments. As the article states, it's a tour & they don't stay in the same place for long. Very sad, but we who built it all these years were nicely surprised when they returned after the first year, which is all they initially planned to do.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is soooo NEGATIVE.
ReplyDeleteThe responders here, for the most part, obviously stay inside and fear any growth or change, ANYWHERE.
Change is inevitable, figure it out!
Stop naysaying every type change that encourages growth in this area.
IF, any of the naysayers ACTUALLY had a vested interest, they'd be singing a different tune.
From the comments I've read on this blog,
I can only determine that these bloggers have zero going on and desparately wish they did.
Sorry you 'missed the boat' naysayers.
Better luck next time.
I'm disgusted by the attitude.
I guess it would just be better that the Eastern Shore
remained impoverished so you naysayers could be right about something.
Pretty sad.
Get off the negative crap 11:27!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing disgusting is your lack of standards. I got news for you so listen up and listen up good.
Attitudes like yours is what has caused all the problems.
Not all "change" is good and as a matter of fact most change historically haven't been that good-Einstein. Educate yourself.
I didn't miss the boat and FYI if another dime never dropped in my wallet I still wouldn't want for anything, this because I don't just settle for anything like yourself.
You need a dose of reality rammed down your throat. You need to start by getting out and see how things work in the real world and not just in your intellectually challenged head.
Now lastly if you find this blog so offensive then don't ever come back here again.
As usual OC officials were asleep at the wheel. Blame is to placed with them.
ReplyDeleteIt was mentioned last summer on THIS blog SBY NEWS that the Dew Tour has cut back on tours.
Prudent proactive officials would have acted back then and would have had something else lined up as a revenue generator for the month instead of sitting around and doing nothing.
12:59 sadly, your threatening demeanor speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteIts ugly, weak, rude, and you're obviously a bully hiding behind your computer screen.
Anyone with half a brain, and any kind of real 'vested' interest would want to see OC, the beaches,
as well, Salisbury and the surrounding areas, 'cashing in' on the events, colleges, etc that draw the crowds.
Heres your Reality Check,.., Its called CAPITALISM.
Get over your nasty self.
Joe, I don't understand. You are publishing a Daily Times story??? I thought they are your nemesis.
