The deceased victim is identified as Timothy Darnell Smith, Jr., 25, of the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Federalsburg. Smith was located by officers from the Federalsburg Police Department at an intersection in downtown Federalsburg, with an apparent gunshot wound in his upper torso. At 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, the Federalsburg Police Department received a 9-1-1 call, reporting the incident. The caller told police she heard the sound of a gunshot when she exited a nearby residence. At the time of the shooting, Smith was walking along the sidewalk with another adult male and two children.
