Jacksonville, Florida Teacher Suspended After Shocking Sex Ed Demonstration

A substitute teacher in Jacksonville, Florida has been suspended from her job this week after a student captured photographs of the educator wearing a phallic apparatus and pantomiming graphic, adult-oriented scenarios during class. Sharon Mercer is the 39-year-old substitute teacher who was hired to present a course in sexual education for a group of 6th grade students at Clinton Middle School. The School, which is located in Duval County, five minutes outside of Jacksonville, FL, is occupied by over 200 students, and teaches grades 5 to 9.

The disciplinary action occurred after severalphotographs of Ms. Mercer’s questionable demonstration was posted onto the popular image site, imgur. The pictures, taken with a student’s cell phone, clearly depict Mercer mimicking lewd gestures of questionable legal, ethical and educational value.

Mercer, who identifies as a bisexual, gender-queer woman, is a proud member of the LGBTQcommunity, claims she did nothing wrong by portraying these acts for her class, and that the students left school far more enlightened than they had been prior to the days lesson.

In an email exchange with Modern Woman Digest, Sandra Mercer insisted that her suspension was an act of bigotry, and a step back for gay rights in the workplace.

VA Supervisor Made Her Employees Renovate Her House, Used Gov’t Money To Do It

A former Veterans Affairs supervisor has been sentenced for stealing up to $20,000 of government property, a recent Justice Department release announced.

From 2010 to 2013, 48-year-old Venita Godfrey-Scott directed her employees to use materials and supplies intended for VA medical center upkeep on her own house. These taxpayer-funded home improvement projects included “a deck in her backyard, carpet installation, and various kitchen, bathroom and basement improvements.” She also instructed employees to buy other necessary materials with her government-issued credit card, and had them work on these projects during normal work hours, when they were being paid by the VA.

Godfrey-Scott was a facilities supervisor, responsible for “carpentry, paint, locks, doors, and other minor construction projects,” for the VA Medical Center in West Haven, Conn.

'I won't be here forever... please don't break this family apart'

Emotional Cameron issues final plea to Scots to save the United Kingdom from a permanent 'painful divorce'

David Cameron last night begged Scots not to rip the United Kingdom apart in a 'painful divorce', as he bluntly told his enemies he would not be Prime Minister forever.

He appeared teary-eyed as he issued his most emotional plea yet to voters ahead of Thursday's historic referendum: 'Please don't break this family apart.'

Making his tenth and final visit to Scotland ahead of polling day, the Prime Minister's voice cracked as he told an audience in Aberdeen how preserving the Union is 'the best hope for your family in this world'.

Mr Cameron's desperate plea came after an opinion suggested a majority of voters in Scotland, and across the UK, think that since agreeing to Alex Salmond's demand for a yes/no vote, Mr Cameron has handled the campaign 'badly'.

Detroit Police Investigate Bloody Scene Where 8 People Shot, 2 Killed In Apparent Family Feud After Prayer Vigil

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a prayer vigil on the city’s west side turned into a deadly family feud with several people shot, a car wreck and multiple suspects under arrest.

“It appears we have eight people shot; two in custody, fleeing the scene; five in custody at the hospital that, instead of going to show support, decided to act stupid — we had to lock them up; and we have three weapons we’ve recovered,” Detroit Assistance Police Chief Steve Dolunt told WWJ’s Mike Campbell.

The situation unfolded just before 2 a.m. Friday after a prayer vigil near Patton and Kendall streets, in a neighborhood near Outer Drive and I-96.

As the vigil was wrapping up, a vehicle drove by and a gunman opened fire on the group of people standing outside. At least eight people were struck by gunfire; one man was killed.

Maurice Westley lives behind the house where the shooting took place.

“There was a short intermission and then I heard a different type of gun going off. People were screaming and yelling and banging on doors. The shots went off, back and forth for like five minutes, or even longer,” he said. “It’s a mess but I’m not surprised at all, not in this neighborhood.”

Troopers Investigate a Crash in Whispering Pines

Lewes, DE – Troopers are currently investigating a crash in which five people were transported to a local hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. today as Rosa Maria Cruz Molina, 39 of Rehoboth, was operating a 1994 Buick Regal eastbound on Renee Drive before entering into a sharp corner onto Mary Ann Road in the development of Whispering Pines. The Buick slowed to a stop at the corner of Mary Ann Road before it suddenly accelerated and drove off the west side of the road and in the direction of Victoria Graver, 22 of Reading, PA, and three young children who were in the front yard between 31869 Renee Drive and 17689 Mary Ann Road. Graver attempted to shield her 3-year-old daughter by jumping on top of her, as they were both run over by the car. A 4-week-old son of Graver, who was strapped into a car carrier, was just outside of her 2009 Ford Focus on the ground as the car continued forward striking the infant and a one and a half year old boy who was also standing near the Ford prior to the Buick striking the car.

After the collision, Molina exited her vehicle and momentarily stayed at the scene before walking away. She was picked up by responding troopers at the corner of Arlene Road and Holly Drive shortly thereafter.

Victoria Graver, along with her two children and her nephew were all transported to Beebe Medical Center where they were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rosa Maria Cruz Molina was also transported to Beebe Medical Center where she is currently under observation with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this crash in continuing and no charges have been filed at this time.

RNC CHAIR PRIEBUS TO LANDRIEU: OPEN YOUR BOOKS OR PAY TAXPAYERS BACK FOR PRIVATE FLIGHTS

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is demanding embattled Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) either come clean on dozens of allegedly improperly billed private charter flights or reimburse taxpayers for hundreds of thousands of dollars she spent on private jets at taxpayer expense.

Priebus said Landrieu should "either reimburse taxpayers for every penny of the $300,000 she's charged them for air travel from 2002 to March of 2014... [or] open all of her records up to the public" in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.

Priebus noted such action was required since "Senator Landrieu's report [released on Friday] doesn't provide any documentation to support its findings."

Poll: Republicans More Weary of War Than Democrats

There's more dove than hawk in Republicans these days than anyone has suspected.

A Chicago Council on Global Affairs (CCGA) poll found that Republicans are now more likely than Democrats to oppose American involvement in foreign affairs, by a margin of 40 percent to 35 percent.

Former NATO ambassador and CCGA president Ivo Daalder told MSNBC, "Republicans and Democrats today have about the same view when it comes to the real big question that we've been asking for 40 years, which is whether or not the US should have an active role in world affairs. Republican views have really changed over the last eight years.

"Twenty percent of Republicans in 2006 thought the US should stay out of world affairs. That has now doubled to 40 percent."

Obama Admin 'Living in a Delusion'

NBC Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel accused the Obama administration of talking to itself and “living in a delusion” in its strategy to combat ISIS on Monday’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on MSNBC.

“The hard part is when you have to actually do the fighting and figure out who is going to take the ground, what is the role of Iran, what is the role of Syria. And if you also look at those thirty countries you mentioned who are in Paris, they are discussing the future of Iraq and Syria, really because ISIS spans both sides of the border. But Syria isn’t there. Iran isn’t there. And both of these countries have an enormous amount of influence, Syria having the most influence in its own country. So, to be planning the future of this action without talking to key players seems like it's, you’re really talking to yourself” he stated.

President Barack Obama is on pace this year to deport the fewest number of immigrants since at least 2007, even as he has postponed until after Election Day his promised unilateral action that could shield millions more from deportation.

According to an analysis of Homeland Security Department figures by The Associated Press, the federal agency responsible for deportations sent home 258,608 immigrants between the start of the budget year last October and July 28 this summer.

During the same period a year earlier, it removed 320,167 people — meaning this year saw a decrease in deportations by nearly 20 percent.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release 9-16-14

During the week of September 8th through the 12th, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Maryland Crash Reconstruction Committee, sponsored by the Maryland Highway Safety Office, held a week long class on motorcycle crash reconstruction. Sheriff Deputies and Police officers from around the State of Maryland were in attendance. Students learned the dynamics of motorcycles and the causation factors associated with crashes.

On the Wednesday of that week several crash tests were done to simulate a motorcycle striking a turning vehicle, and rear ending a vehicle. These tests were done between 30 and 47 miles per hour, which are the speeds commonly traveled in and around the Ocean City area during bike week. Officers see the damage that can occur from a crash, at what some consider a low speed.

Maryland is striving to reduce the fatality rate of motor vehicle crashes toward zero deaths. Motorcycle fatalities have been on the rise over the past few years. All lives lost in our State are valuable, and proper investigations are required to help serve the families of those left behind.

Thorough crash investigations are as important as a homicide investigation and it is the goal of the Maryland Crash Reconstruction Committee in partnership with the Maryland Highway Safety Office and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, to provide top of the line training to Maryland Law Enforcement in motorcycle crash investigation.

Wicomico Executive's Fitness Council September Award Winner

On Tuesday, September 9, 2014 the Wicomico Executive’s Fitness Council announced that an 86-year old retiree, Mr. Bob Carter of Salisbury, received this month’s Award of Excellence in recognition of his long-time commitment to nutrition and exercise.

“Exercise has increased my self-confidence and allowed me to face other challenges in life,” said Carter on the benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle. Just last month, he completed a 4-day, 106-mile bike tour to Cape Charles.

Besides being an avid cyclist, Bob enjoys weight training at the Richard A. Henson Family YMCA. He manages two intense weight training work-outs per week and enjoys bicycling the rest of the week. His trainer, Dan Davis, says of Carter “he just keeps getting better every day.”

After a serious biking accident in April 2013, Bob was cautioned not to return to the sport. But self-determination won out and Carter eased back in by taking Spin classes at the YMCA. He credits his daughter Susan, “the cheerleader,” for the motivation to keep going.

Carter said, “I wouldn’t be here if not for my daughter Susan. She gives me all the support I need.” Now Bob is poised to qualify for the National Senior Games in cycling to be held in Minneapolis July 2015.

3 High Level Intelligence Operatives Who Exposed 9/11 Foreknowledge

Government ignored repeated warnings from inside the system

Despite claims that the United States could have “never imagined” such an attack as those seen on Sept 11, countless government insiders have come forward over the years to reveal that the events of 9/11 could have been stopped.

Among them, multiple personnel operating within the national security state have helped expose key pieces of information buried after the tragic events in 2001. Here are just 3 high level intelligence operatives who exposed 9/11 government foreknowledge.

Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer – Operation Able Danger

Former senior intelligence officer Lt. Col Anthony Shaffer attempted to inform the government about several Al Qaeda operatives, including alleged lead hijacker Mohammed Atta, during Operation Able Danger.

“I had no intention of joining the ranks of ‘whistle blowers,’” Shaffer said. “When I made my disclosure to the 9/11 commission regarding the existence of a pre 9/11 offensive counter-terrorism operation that had discovered several of the 9/11 terrorists a full year before the 9/11 attacks my intention was to simply tell the truth, and fulfill my oath of office.”

Shaffer joined the Alex Jones Show in 2010 to discuss the backlash he received from the Defense Intelligence Agency after informing Congress of the government’s refusal to act.

Iowa Dems: Hillary Too Tied to Cronyism, 'Malleable' like Romney

Young Iowa Democrats still associate Hillary Clinton with crony capitalism nearly seven years after progressive Iowans rejected her for Barack Obama.

Before Clinton returned to the state on Sunday for the first time since 2008, MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell interviewed young Iowa Democrats for "Meet the Press."

A law student told Mitchell that he was looking for someone more liberal than Clinton who talks about "income inequality." He said Clinton is "malleable" like Romney, which often is shorthand for standing for nothing except for getting elected.

Mitchell then asked another young liberal Iowan what came to mind when Hillary Clinton is mentioned.

"A politician, a woman, a president?" Mitchell asked.

Carla, the young woman who works at a non-profit organization, basically said none of the above and rejected Mitchell's leading question. To her, Clinton represented cronyism.

The War on Women 2.0

More silly, but less effective?

Democrats hoping that women voters will rescue them from increasingly difficult campaigns have entered the silly season of the “war on women” — and maybe the hypocritical one, too.

“The Republican War on Women is back, and it’s even more appalling than ever,” the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee trumpets in a list-building exercise. How appalling? Supporters of Senator Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) can’t believe that Republican state-house speaker Thom Tillis referred to her by her first name during their first debate.

“We saw women on social media in particular who were bothered by his tone and more than anything they were bothered by his record,” Hagan spokeswoman Sadie Weiner told Politico after her boss turned in a forgettable debate performance.

Tillis has known Hagan for years. “This race isn’t about titles,” he toldPolitico. “It’s about results.”

Ex-official claims Clinton allies scrubbed Benghazi documents in secret session

A former State Department official has told lawmakers that Hillary Clinton allies privately removed politically damaging documents before turning over files to the supposedly independent board investigating the Benghazi terror attack.

The account from Raymond Maxwell, former head of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), was first published in The Daily Signal. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, confirmed to FoxNews.com on Monday that Maxwell told him and other lawmakers the same story when they privately interviewed him last year about the attacks and their aftermath.

Chaffetz said that Maxwell claimed Clinton's chief of staff and deputy chief of staff were overseeing the document operation, which allegedly took place on a weekend in a basement office of the State Department.

"What they were looking for is anything that made them look bad. That's the way it was described to us," Chaffetz said.

CDC issues Ebola checklist: 'Now is the time to prepare'

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, warning hospitals and doctors that “now is the time to prepare,” has issued a six-page Ebola “checklist” to help healthcare workers quickly determine if patients are infected.

While the CDC does not believe that there are new cases of Ebola in the United States, the assumption in the checklist is that it is only a matter of time before the virus hits home.

For example, one part reads: “Encourage healthcare personnel to use a ‘buddy system’ when caring for patients.” Another recommends a process to report cases to top officials:

Plan for regular situational briefs for decision-makers, including:
-- Suspected and confirmed EVD patients who have been identified and reported to public health authorities.

-- Isolation, quarantine and exposure reports.

-- Supplies and logistical challenges.

-- Personnel status, and policy decisions on contingency plans and staffing.

The checklist has been distributed to major hospitals and even little ones, including an urgent center in Leesburg, Va.

MOORE: Obamanomics victimizes president's biggest supporters most

Minorities, single women, youths hardest hit

Politics is often filled with paradoxes, and here is one that nearly defies explanation. The demographic groups that voted most heavily for Barack Obama in 2012 have suffered the most from this president’s economic policies. Maybe the people in these demographic groups — blacks, Hispanics, single women and young people — are economically uninformed, or maybe for these groups, when it comes to voting, it’s not the economy, stupid.

Whatever the explanation, the facts speak for themselves: Obama voters have not benefited from his policies.

SEARCH CONTINUING FOR MISSING EASTERN SHORE TEEN

(CHESTERTOWN, MD) – Maryland State Police are continuing their search for a critically missing teenager who walked off from an Eastern Shore youth counseling facility almost three weeks ago and troopers believe citizen tips will be the key to locating him.

The youth is identified as Hunter C. Lemp, 17, who is described as a white male, 5’8” tall, 175 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue sweatshirt and black pants. Lemp has family in Parsonsburg and Mardela Springs, Md. He may attempt to contact family members in either location.

On the morning of August 28, 2014, Maryland State Police from the Centreville Barrack were dispatched to Kent Youth Inc., in the 7500-block of Quaker Neck Road, Chestertown, Md., for a report of a missing person. Troopers were told Lemp had apparently walked off from the facility and was last seen about 5:30 a.m. that day.

State troopers, area police officers, and deputies have been searching for Lemp since he disappeared. Investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division are coordinating the ongoing search and investigation, with continuing assistance from the Maryland State Police Child Recovery Unit.

Several tips have been provided regarding Lemp, but have failed to assist police in locating him. Investigators believe he is still on the Eastern Shore, possibly in the Salisbury area. He could be hitchhiking or seeking food, money, or other assistance in the area.

Lemp is not wanted for or charged with any crime. His family and State Police are concerned about his welfare. Anyone with information about Lemp or who may have seen someone matching his description, is urged to contact State Police immediately at the Centreville Barrack at 410-758-1101x7.

Construction On New Ocean City Beach Patrol Home Begins

OCEAN CITY – City officials gathered this morning with city staff and members of the Ocean City Development Corporation (OCDC) to break ground to begin construction for the new Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) headquarters.

The new three-story building will be located at the corner of Talbot St. and South Philadelphia Ave., which is directly across the street from its existing location. OCBP HQ will represent a traditional Ocean City aesthetic as laid out by the OCDC’s design standards. The new building boasts 10,000 square feet of space and provides facilities for beach patrol vehicle and equipment storage, training, roll call and administrative areas. In addition, the $2 million project holds a multi-purpose training room and an area for the Ocean City Police Department’s (OCPD) Bicycle Unit.

“This building is long overdue,” Director of Emergency Services Joe Theobald said this morning.

The OCBP currently occupies three buildings on Dorchester Street that used to serve as the old home to the OCPD and District Court facilities. In 1993, the buildings were deemed unsuitable for usage, but they continued to be utilized by the seasonal OCBP.
OCBP Captain Butch Arbin came before the crowd announcing a new chapter in OCBP’s 80-year history.

Marilyn Monroe’s billowing skirt repeatedly blew upwards as she stood over a subway grate on Lexington Avenue in the early morning hours on Sept. 15, 1954 — the most iconic location shoot in NYC history.

Though the shoot didn’t begin until 1 a.m., a huge crowd (mostly men) watched because it was announced in the newspapers to promote the sex comedy that was being filmed, “The Seven Year Itch.”

In the famous scene, Monroe and actor Tom Ewell exit a showing of “The Creature From the Black Lagoon’’ at the long-gone Trans Lux East at the corner on East 52nd Street — and she stops to enjoy the breeze on her legs from a passing subway train (which actually came from a wind machine operating beneath the grate).

“There were a good 5,000 people there waiting to see Marilyn’ s legs,’’ director Billy Wilder recalled years later — with the crowd chanting “Higher! Higher!” as the scene was shot 15 or more times.

Hillary Clinton's staff told to hide any documents that could make her inner circle look bad in aftermath of Benghazi, whistle-blower claims

U.S. State Department officials conspired to prevent an internal Accountability Review Board from seeing damning documents after the 2012 Benghazi terror attack which made then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton look bad, according to a former senior diplomat.

A picture has emerged of a weekend boiler-room operation in which employees were instructed to sift through boxes of documents and 'pull out' anything that might make Clinton or her close associates look bad in the wake of the terrorist murders of four Americans including the ambassador to Libya.

Raymond Maxwell, a former deputy assistant secretary for Near Eastern affairs, claims he was scapegoated after the raid by militants acting with Ansar al-Shariah, an Islamist terror faction linked with al-Qaeda.

Wicomico County Imposes Multiple Unlawful Requirements

A representative of Wicomico County Public Schools sent a letter to familiesin early August unlawfully requiring that families:

Give the school system a copy of their driver’s license;
Give the school system proof of where they live;
Give the school system proof of the child’s Social Security number;
Give the school system a copy of the child’s birth certificate;
Make an appointment to meet with school staff before beginning homeschooling;
“Register” the child before beginning homeschool; and
“Enroll” the child before beginning homeschooling.

I spoke to a representative by phone on August 21 and explained that these requirements are unlawful. But I subsequently received a report that the school system is continuing to try to impose some or all of these unlawful requirements on families.

Therefore, last week I sent a letter explaining that the school system’s action violates Maryland Regulation 13A.10.01.01.F. This regulation says “A local school system may not impose additional requirements for home instruction programs other than those in these regulations.” My letter warned that if the school system fails to operate within the boundaries of the law, significant legal consequences could follow.

It is now important to monitor the school system’s conduct to see if it violates the law even after receiving my cautionary letter. If you live in (or move into) Wicomico County, and the school system tries to impose any of the above unlawful requirements on you via a letter, please send us a copy of the letter immediately. If the school system instead tries to impose any unlawful requirements on you via a phone call or face-to-face conversation, insist that the representative put what he or she intends to say in writing and send it to you. When you receive it, forward it to us immediately for review. Emails and scanned documents may be sent to info@hslda.org.

Salisbury/Wicomico County Has A Serious Homeless Problem

It's not a topic most want to discuss but it's a reality Salisbury must start addressing.

Between the Mayor of Salisbury and the County Executive, NOTHING is getting better and I do NOT want to hear it's Obama's fault.

IF we cannot get proper LEADERSHIP in OUR part of the country then we are ALL failing.

Ireton and Pollitt have had plenty of time to make things better but as I have been preaching for YEARS, you have life long POLITICIANS in Office who are either a part of out of control spending OR they have the ability to stop the waste. Pollitt refuses to produce their spending expenses, (because of the upcoming election) and Ireton is one of the BOE Staff possibly spending money that is supposed to be spent on the children, all of which we have exposed for the past 23 weeks.

We need manufacturing. We need to ELIMINATE ALL of the drugs on the streets, which is completely OUT OF CONTROL. I truly have to wonder, will the voters finally wake up in November?

Would the last person leaving blue Maryland please turn out the lights?

At least 160 Marylanders are about to lose their jobs because of the constitutional myopia of the state's corrupt liberal Democratic establishment. It's a sad illustration of the dire results of one-party rule.

Maryland is one of the deepest-blue states in the country. Democrats hold every statewide office, control the unbelievably venal state legislature and have a stranglehold on most local governments.

Maryland Democrats love taxes and government spending programs. When a Marylander flushes the toilet, cha-ching. When a Marylander is rained on, cha-ching. And soon, when a Marylander drives, it will be cha-ching for every mile. Taxes keep going up because state spending keeps going up.

AZA Grants Accreditation to the Salisbury Zoo

Silver Spring, Maryland (9/15/2014) – The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) today announced that the Salisbury Zoo was granted accreditation by AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission.

“The Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredits only those zoos and aquariums that meet the highest standards,” said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. “As a proven leader in the care and conservation of wildlife and education outreach, The Salisbury Zoo is ranked among the best zoos and aquariums in the world.”

To be accredited, the Salisbury Zoo underwent a thorough review to ensure it has and will continue to meet rising standards, which include animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education, and safety. AZA requires zoos and aquariums to successfully complete this rigorous accreditation process every five years in order to be members of the Association. "The entire Salisbury Zoo community should be recognized for their continued efforts in keeping this prestigious accreditation. I thank them for all their hard work on behalf of our citizens and the over 300,000 visitors that come to the Salisbury Zoo each year," said Mayor James Ireton, Jr.

The accreditation process includes a detailed application and a meticulous on-site inspection by a team of trained zoo and aquarium professionals. The inspecting team observes all aspects of the institution’s operation, including animal care; keeper training; safety for visitors, staff and animals; educational programs; conservation efforts; veterinary programs; financial stability; risk management; visitor services; and other areas. Finally, top officials are interviewed at a formal hearing of AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission, after which accreditation is granted, tabled, or denied. Any institution that is denied may reapply one year after the Commission’s decision is made.

Founded in 1924, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, animal welfare, education, science, and recreation. AZA is the accrediting body for the top zoos and aquariums in the United States and six other countries. Look for the AZA accreditation logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you, and a better future for all living things. The AZA is a leader in saving species and your link to helping animals all over the world. To learn more, visit www.aza.org.

Larry Hogan addresses race, inequality and the importance of voting at Bowie State University

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Larry Hogan received a standing ovation after speaking at an event hosted by the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Bowie State University.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are black or white, rich or poor, young or old, Democrat or Republican, from inner-city Baltimore or a small farm on the Eastern Shore, people everywhere feel a huge disconnect between the politicians in Annapolis and the rest of Maryland,” Hogan told a mostly black audience, which included students, civic leaders, and local and state politicians.

In the 15-minute speech, Mr. Hogan, a businessman who grew up in Prince George’s County, highlighted Maryland’s faltering economy and urged the audience to rise above party politics and vote for the candidate who can bring about change. “Now the pollsters and the political experts would tell me that no matter what my platform is and no matter what the track record of my opponent is that many of you aren’t going to vote for me because of the ‘R’ next to my name. But I’m here to challenge that assumption,” he said.

Mr. Hogan also rallied members of the audience to tell their friends and acquaintances to get out and vote this November because a “voteless people is a hopeless people.”
