On the Wednesday of that week several crash tests were done to simulate a motorcycle striking a turning vehicle, and rear ending a vehicle. These tests were done between 30 and 47 miles per hour, which are the speeds commonly traveled in and around the Ocean City area during bike week. Officers see the damage that can occur from a crash, at what some consider a low speed.
Maryland is striving to reduce the fatality rate of motor vehicle crashes toward zero deaths. Motorcycle fatalities have been on the rise over the past few years. All lives lost in our State are valuable, and proper investigations are required to help serve the families of those left behind.
Thorough crash investigations are as important as a homicide investigation and it is the goal of the Maryland Crash Reconstruction Committee in partnership with the Maryland Highway Safety Office and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, to provide top of the line training to Maryland Law Enforcement in motorcycle crash investigation.

Some accidents are caused by reckless drivers, but lately I have noticed a lot of reckless motorcyle drivers. I dread being next to one, behind one, or in front of one. They need to drive with some sense!
ReplyDeleteThen quit being a left lane road hog
ReplyDeleteIn the first accident image it appears that the guy who was riding in his wheelchair while riding his motorcycle lost his lego in flight? He's pretty brave for a dummy?
ReplyDeleteI witnessed one instance this report leaves out and that is a vehicle rear ending a cycle. It happened on 33rd St and Coastal highway last Sunday. Truck strikes cycle. Cycle "bounces" forward. No apparent damage as they both left the scene.
