Just when one thought US foreign policy couldn't sink any deeper into the hole of its embarrassment, it takes out a shovel and starts digging. Overnight, in what AP describes as a stunning assault that exposed Iraq's eroding central authority, Al Qaida-inspired militants from ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, overran much of Mosul on Tuesday, seizing government buildings, pushing out security forces and capturing military vehicles as thousands of residents fled the second-largest city.
For those who may have forgotten, Iraq was one of those countries "liberated" by the the United States, which unlike Afghanistan where the opium trade is still important, did pull out its troops two and a half years ago.
Ths shocking takeover of Mosul took place months after Al Qaeda-linked fighers took over another Iraqi town, Fallujah, earlier in the year and which they have successfully defended against government attempts to reclaim it.
That however, was just the appetizer: Mosul is a much bigger, more strategic prize. The city and surrounding Ninevah province, which is on the doorstep of Iraq's relatively prosperous Kurdish region, are a major export route for Iraqi oil and a gateway to Syria.

GOP Must Look Outside DC for Presidential Nominee
The American people do not like the Bush family, and a Jeb Bush presidential candidacy would not be good for the country or the Republican Party, said Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, a website dedicated to bringing limited government and tea party candidates to power.
"When I think of Jeb Bush, I think of 'Groundhog Day,'" said Viguerie, whose book "Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It" was recently published.
"I mean, how many Bushes do we have to go through? The American people don't like the Bushes. They gave George H.W. Bush a landslide victory in 1988 because they thought they were voting for Ronald Reagan's third term. Sitting President George H.W. Bush got 38 percent of the vote when he ran for re-election in 1992. His son, George W. Bush, got 500k votes less than Al Gore and won by 537 votes, won by one state for re-election. I'd be very concerned if Jeb Bush were the nominee. The general rule of the American voters do not like big government."
Speaking to Newsmax TV’s "America’s Forum," Viguerie said the GOP needs to look outside Washington and to the states for the 2016 presidential nominee. He offered his thoughts on which governors might be attractive to hardline conservatives.

Liberal Activist is Raped in Haiti By a Black Man, But Blames White Men
It seems that every time some liberal idiot sets out to disprove something, they inadvertently end up proving that their “myth” was accurate. That’s exactly what happened to Amanda Kijera, who went to Haiti to prove that the portrayal of black men in the media as savages is a myth — and was then violently raped on a rooftop by a black man.
Amanda Kijera was on a humanitarian trip to Haiti, when she was violently raped by a black man. The act was both coincidental and devastating, as Kijera was actually in Haiti to dispel the “myths” that violence against women on the island was overstated by women’s rights organizations. The intention of Kijera’s trip was to push back on the portrayal of black men as “savages” in the media. Her hope was that she would eliminate misconceptions and push back against common views imposed by “the man.” However, Kijera’s trip took a turn for the worse when one of the men she had worked to protect cornered her on the rooftop, and raped her numerous times.
“The experience was almost more than I could bear,” Kijera wrote about the incident, “I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didn’t care.”
According to Kijera, she eventually stopped fighting him, claiming that there was nothing she could do to stop him from raping her repeatedly. After the tragic experience, she placed the blame on a very unexpected course. Women are not the source of their oppression; oppressive policies and the as-yet unaddressed white patriarchy which still dominates the global stage are,” she explained.

Oh You Are Going To Want To Be Here At 9:00 AM Tomorrow
Every so often in our line of business you come across some information you just can't believe. Well, tomorrow morning I will have up a story you aren't going to believe either, but it's 100% true. Perhaps Mr. Pollitt and staff will want to be here as well because I'm about to show just how stupid these people are.
Nevada Democrats Select 'None Of These Candidates' In Gubernatorial Primary
Many Nevada Democrats turned up their noses Tuesday at the eight candidates battling for the right to face Gov. Brian Sandoval in November, with the "none of these candidates" option receiving the most votes.
With 80 percent of precincts reporting early Wednesday, the "none of these candidates option" had received over 20,000 votes (30 percent), putting it over 3,600 votes ahead of the man who will face Sandoval in November, former State Economic Development commissioner Robert Goodman. Goodman received 25 percent of the vote.
The only other candidate to receive a double-digit percentage of the vote was Stephen Frye (11 percent), who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012.
Nevada allows its voters to select "none of these" candidates in elections for President and statewide offices. The last time the option received the most votes was in 1976, when Republicans preferred it to both candidates running in a primary for the House of Representatives.

8th Grade Middle School Students Required To Tell Class Publicly How Far They Were Prepared To Go Sexually
School may be out for summer but some of the lessons children learned will last a lifetime. A Middle School in Southern California has found a way to humiliate and confuse kids publicly by making them declare their sexual prowess in front of their peers.
At least one pair of parents is fuming after their eighth-grade daughter came home from school saying that every student in her class had to indicate – publicly – how far they are prepared to go sexually. The incident happened this week at Woodland Park Middle School in the San Diego, Calif. suburb of San Marcos, reports local ABC affiliate KGTV.
The parents, who don’t want to be named, say their 14-year-old daughter was embarrassed because the teacher in her family life and health class instructed her and all of her classmates to stand under one of several signs. Each sign was labeled with a different phrase. Some of the labeled signs were innocuous, according to KGTV. These included “smiled at,” “hugged” and “kissed.”

Maryland Obamacare Insurer Hiking Premiums 30 Percent
Maryland’s beleaguered Obamacare exchange released initial premium rates for 2015 late Friday, with one insurance plan proposing a 30 percent hike.
CareFirst of Maryland Inc. and Group Hospitalization and Medical Services Inc., both CareFirst companies, submitted filings to the Maryland insurance department requesting a 30.2 percent premium increase for individual plans in 2015. CareFirst Blue Choice Inc. requested a 22.8 percent increase for next year, citing an older average membership age and a sicker patient pool.
Maryland’s exchange has only five insurers which participated in 2014 and will add another insurer in 2015. All Savers Insurance, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare, requested a 4.8 percent. A nonprofit Kaiser Foundation plan offered a 12.1 percent rate reduction and Evergreen Health Cooperative, 10.3 percent reduction.

5 Obama Officials Who Lied, Then Lied About Lying
Last week, National Security Advisor Susan Rice appeared on the Sunday shows to do what she does best: lie. She told the American public that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, for whom President Obama had exchanged five top Taliban commanders, had served with “honor and distinction.”
That, apparently, wasn’t true. As Bergdahl’s compatriots in arms have now told the media, Bergdahl allegedly deserted his post; some evidence has even cropped up suggesting that Bergdahl converted to Islam and embraced jihad.
So, did Rice apologize?
Of course not. On Friday, she doubled down, explaining that when she said that Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction,” she was actually “referring to the fact that this was a young man who volunteered to serve his country in uniform at a time of war. That is itself a very honorable thing.”
Which is why the Obama administration would surely character Major Nidal Hassan as serving with “honor and distinction.” After all, he signed up for the military in a time of war.

In Maryland, Democrats Gansler and Mizeur find inspiration in Cantor’s loss in Virginia
Two Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls in Maryland are among those taking heart from the stunning upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R) in Virginia on Tuesday night.
Both Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler and Del. Heather R. Mizeur made appeals to supporters, citing the victory of an obscure professor with tea party backing in the Republican primary in Cantor’s Richmond-area district.
In a fundraising pitch Wednesday morning, Gansler’s campaign manager, Antigone Davis, referred to two polls showing Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown far ahead in the June 24 Democratic primary, including one published by The Washington Post on Tuesday.

People Heading To The ER In Droves Under Obamacare
Who woulda thunk it?
(Courier Journal) It wasn’t supposed to work this way, but since the Affordable Care Act took effect in January, Norton Hospital has seen its packed emergency room become even more crowded, with about 100 more patients a month.
That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren’t actually facing true emergencies — is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms.
That’s just the opposite of what many people expected under Obamacare, particularly because one of the goals of health reform was to reduce pressure on emergency rooms by expanding Medicaid and giving poor people better access to primary care.
Instead, many hospitals in Kentucky and across the nation are seeing a surge of those newly insured Medicaid patients walking into emergency rooms.

‘Wow’: Journalist Attempts to ‘Debunk’ Anti-Gun Group’s List of ‘School Shootings in America Since Sandy Hook’ — Here’s What He Found
Everytown for Gun safety, an anti-gun group formed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and prominent gun control advocate Shannon Watts, released new data on Tuesday suggesting that there have been an average of 1.37 school shootings every single week in the U.S. since the deadly 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.
The anti-gun organization cites a total of 74 school shootings since Dec. 14, 2012. However, several of the shootings have come under scrutiny as some of them appear to have occurred off-campus and at least one may have been an instance of self-defense.
Journalist Charles C. Johnson dug deeper into Everytown’s data on Tuesday and published his findings on Twitter. He also criticized the fact that the group classified violent disputes and gang-related violence as “school shootings.”
“It’s not a school shooting when someone goes and shoots a specific person on campus. It’s a shooting that happens to take place at school,” he wrote.
Take a look at Johnson’s findings:

How To Normalize Your High Blood Pressure
About one in three American adults have hypertension (high blood pressure), and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),1, 2hypertension is “the second greatest public health threat” in the US.
About half of all with hypertension have uncontrolled high blood pressure, which increases your risk for a number of more serious health problems, including heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure, and end-stage kidney disease.3
Interestingly, 16 million Americans who take blood pressure medication still do not have their blood pressure under control4 — a fact that emphasizes the need for basic lifestyle changes to truly resolve this problem.
According to medical physiology textbooks, 95 percent of the causes of hypertension is idiopathic, meaning the underlying cause is unknown.
This is simply not true. Hypertension is typically a symptom of insulin and leptin resistance. And the vast majority of those who have hypertension can normalize their blood pressure without resorting to drugs.

Homeland Security Chief Admits To Need For Border Reform
Both in public and in private meetings, new Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson readily acknowledges there is a border “problem” that needs fixing — a major departure from his predecessor, Janet Napolitano, whose consistent refrain was that the border was more secure than it had ever been.
Mr. Johnson, by contrast, has shied away from using Ms. Napolitano’s catchphrase, stressing to Congress that more resources are still needed to get the border in shape. And in a private meeting last month with those who want to see stricter enforcement, Mr. Johnson explicitly acknowledged the issues and asked for solutions.
“There was a clear difference. When we met with him, he acknowledged right off the bat that he was well aware there was a problem on the southern border. There was not even a debate about that,” said Rosemary Jenks, government relations manager for NumbersUSA.

Shore Fresh Growers
Shore Fresh Growers Association is opening a farmers market, on Moss Hill Lane today at 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. FMNP, SNAP and WIC authorized.
The decision to accept SNAP/EBT did not come easy. Everyone knows times are tough for many, especially our elderly population. People struggling or running into hard times does not mean these same people should not have access to good, fresh, healthy as well as affordable food. Based on the current economy we decided we would get the required licensing so people that have enjoyed shopping the market for fresh, wholesome food could continue to do so. We have a central cashier for EBT use.
People age 60 and up can go to the MAC center to apply for the Senior Nutrition Program. The Mac Center is located behind the Holly Center off Snow Hill Road.
Women, Infants and Children program is administered by the Health Dept in the Adkins Building on North Salisbury Blvd.

Drug cartels are amateurs: here’s the real thing
Mexican cartels? Colombian cartels? Afghan poppy lords? Middlemen? Street dealers? Are you kidding? They’re small fry. Check out the pros.
Medical News Today, June 22, 2013,“Most Americans on Prescriptions.” “7 out of every 10 Americans are on prescription drugs, and more than half of the country are on at least two, according to an analysis conducted by Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center researchers.”
That’s 210 million men, women, and children—hooked. Something the Sinaloa Cartel can only dream of.
Most commonly ingested medical drugs? In order: antibiotics, antidepressants, and opioids. Those last two indicate Americans are trying to change their state of mind and kill pain via the Man in the White Coat; the street dealer is way, way behind.
Here’s an interesting quote from the Medical News piece: “…nearly one quarter of women between 50 and 64 take antidepressants…”
The street drug cartels, of course, are working at a disadvantage. The White Coat dealers are backed up by government, insurance companies, medical boards, medical journals, Wall Street, banks, pharmaceutical companies, media, medical schools, hospitals, and big foundations. That’s the competition. What are the street drug cartels going to do? Put out a hit on all these people? Hell, I’m sure some of the Mexican and Colombian drug chiefs have their own doctors and are taking Zoloft and Paxil themselves.

Dad Watched in Horror as Two Armed Men Held a Gun to His Teen Daughter’s Head — Then He Did Something About It
Two armed criminals reportedly put a gun to a 17-year-old girl’s head on Monday night as she was outside retrieving something from a car. The man, whose intentions still aren’t entirely clear, then ordered the teenager to take them into her house — a decision that would prove to have deadly consequences.
Peering out the window of the St. Louis home were the girl’s mother and father, each prepared to protect their daughter with deadly force. There was also a 5-year-old boy in the house, though his relationship to the family wasn’t known on Tuesday.
The girl’s father, a 34-year-old man, reportedly observed the men walking towards his home while holding a gun to his daughter’s head, a sight that no father ever wants to see. He quickly retrieved his firearm and his wife did the same.

How Is This Not A Massive Conflict Of Interest?
Henry Ford once said, “It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.”
He was right about at least one thing– it’s true that hardly anyone on the planet really understands the monetary system… or the way that central bankers manipulate the entire global economy.
I’ve met some seriously smart people who are very high up in finance. Senior bankers, traders, fund managers, etc. And even -they- don’t really understand it.
Everyone just presumes that there are some really smart guys and gals who make policy decisions from their ivory towers. We’re told that they know what they’re doing, and we’re just all supposed to trust them.
People erroneously believe that it’s somehow controlled by the government… in the US, for example, the President of the United States appoints members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
Right now there are 4 presidentially-appointed Fed governors.

Rawlings-Blake Voices Concern Over Immigrant Shelter
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake — who has gained a national reputation for welcoming Hispanic families to Baltimore — joined a growing chorus of Maryland officials Tuesday raising concerns over a proposal to turn a vacant office building in the city into a shelter for immigrant children largely from Central America.
Rawlings-Blake said she has "serious concerns" about an idea being explored by the Obama administration to retrofit the massive office complex on North Greene Street known as Metro West to help contain a recent surge in unaccompanied children who are crossing the border illegally.
The federal government is scrambling to find space to shelter the young immigrants, most of whom are fleeing violence in Central America. About 9,500 children were caught at the Southwest border in May — a 300 percent increase over the same period last year.

Growing Rejection of Common Core
The most controversial issue in education today is clearly Common Core. It’s being more hotly debated than bullying, zero tolerance, sex ed, abortion or even school lunches.
Common Core is the title of a new set of standards the Obama administration has been trying to force the states to use. Even before the standards were written, 45 states and the District of Columbia signed on, encouraged by inducements of federal funds. The principal outliers are Texas, Alaska, Nebraska and Virginia.
Now that parents and teachers are finding out what is commanded by Common Core State Standards and what is being taught by “Common Core-aligned” materials, moms and teachers are raising a ruckus, trying to get their respective states to repeal their involvement. Many are demanding that their state withdraw altogether from Common Core, principally because they believe it is a takeover by the Obama administration of all that kids are taught and not taught.
The backlash against Common Core has developed into a potent political force. About 100 bills have been introduced into various state legislatures to cancel, stop or slow down Common Core requirements.

Boko Haram militants 'kidnap up to 40 young mothers'
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped at least 20 young mothers near a town in northeast of Nigeria where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted nearly two months ago.
News of the abduction came after gunmen from the militant group slaughtered hundreds of villagers in the north-east of the country.
There were conflicting reports of how many women were abducted from the nomadic settlement near Chibok in Borno state, with one local leader putting the number as high as 40, according to AFP.

5 Truths You’re Not Allowed To Say About Gays In America
It’s hard to have an honest conversation about gay issues because liberals treat anything other than outright celebration of all things gay as “hate.” That doesn’t leave people much room to discuss a complicated issue that involves real human beings who often have to deal with a lot of challenges because of their sexual orientation. If you’re a compassionate person, you have to feel some sympathy when you talk to people who are closeted because they’re afraid that their relatives won’t accept them or someone who feels isolated and alone because his sexual orientation makes it impossible for him to have a romantic relationship with 98% of the population. Life is hard for most of us — and if you know people who are gay, chances are you recognize that it’s even harder for them.
Yet and still, you can’t deny reality because there may be a few people who don’t want to hear it. Sure, you don’t want to unnecessarily create pain in people’s lives, but ultimately, nothing creates more misery than abandoning common sense because the obvious truth might hurt someone’s feelings.
1) You can’t change your gender: Have you ever heard of Body Integrity Identity Disorder? Long story short, there are people out there who believe they’re “supposed to” have less limbs. Maybe they want to get rid of an arm or a leg. The “problem” these people run into is that surgeons consider it unethical to remove a healthy, functioning body part and refuse to saw off their limbs. Instead, they just refer these people to a psychologist. That seems to make sense, doesn’t it?

Fukushima is still a disaster
Despite silence from the corporate media, Fukushima is still a disaster. The situation at that crippled nuclear power plant in Japan is still extremely volatile, and officials at the plant appear to be guessing about how to get radiation under control. According to an article by Harvey Wasserman over at TruthDig, Tepco has finally won approval to build a giant underground ice wall to contain radiation. However, no one has ever constructed a similar project, it may take as long as two years to complete, and there is widespread skepticism on whether this idea will even make a difference. In the meantime, young people living around Fukushima are being diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 40 times the normal rate, and health experts say that is "just the beginning." The 2011 disaster woke up the people of Japan, and so far they've demanded that every commercial nuclear reactor remain shut down. However, here in the United States, we're not only ignoring the ongoing disaster in Japan, we're going to build new nuclear plants. It's time to wake up, demand the truth about Fukushima, and time to say "No Nukes!" once and for all.
Carl's Jr CEO Explains Why Nobody Is Hiring Young People
In President Obama's speeches this year, a steady theme has been creating jobs and economic opportunity for Americans. In his State of the Union address in January he said that "what I believe unites the people of this nation . . . is the simple, profound belief in opportunity for all—the notion that if you work hard and take responsibility, you can get ahead." And in his weekly address on Saturday, he repeated his strong appeal to young people: "As long as I hold this office, I'll keep fighting to give more young people the chance to earn their own piece of the American Dream."
Yet during the more than five years Mr. Obama has been in office, young people have been especially hard-hit by the slow and virtually jobless recovery. Given the destructive effect this has on individual initiative and the prospects of a productive and rewarding working life, the continuing struggle of young Americans to find jobs, start building families and contribute to society is no longer simply a matter of politics or policy. On a deeply human level, it's profoundly sad.

Hillary Clinton’s Entitlement Problem
She seems to think a certain standard of living was her due as a member of the political aristocracy.
It seems clear now that there are two Hillary Clintons. The first, who exists wholly in the abstract, is the one we have been waiting for. She is a Maker of History and a savior of women; an equal partner in the power couple that presided over the prosperity, cool, and competence of the 1990s; a world-beating secretary of state; a feminist who smashes glass ceilings and fights for all that is right and good. Millions of us are “Ready!” for her.
The other exists in the real world. This Hillary is a person who lacks concrete achievements; whose inevitability never quite translates into evitability; whose rhetoric always seems to turn up empty; who has an impressive capacity for saying things that hurt her and her interests; and, most distressingly of all, who becomes instantly less likeable the moment she opens her mouth.

IRS Sent Database Containing Confidential Taxpayer Information to FBI
The Internal Revenue Service may have been caught violating federal tax law: In October 2010, the agency sent a database on 501(c)(4) social-welfare groups containing confidential taxpayer information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to documents obtained by a House panel.
The information was transmitted in advance of former IRS official Lois Lerner’s meeting the same month with Justice Department officials about the possibility of using campaign-finance laws to prosecute certain nonprofit groups. E-mails between Lerner and Richard Pilger, the director of the Justice Department’s election-crimes branch, obtained through a subpoena to Attorney General Eric Holder, show Lerner asking about the format in which the FBI preferred the data to be sent.
“This revelation that the IRS sent 1.1 million pages of nonprofit tax-return data — including confidential taxpayer information — to the FBI confirms suspicions that the IRS worked with the Justice Department to facilitate the potential investigation of nonprofit groups engaged in lawful political speech,” Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa, a California Republican, and subcommittee chairman Jim Jordan wrote in a letter to IRS commissioner John Koskinen. The two lawmakers also raise questions about the timing of the meeting, just weeks before the 2010 midterm elections, when Republicans recaptured a majority in the House of Representatives.

Tributes pour in for hero killed after confronting white supremacists
The civilian shot dead by a white supremacist couple on Sunday after he confronted them in a Las Vegas mall has been hailed a hero for his fearless bravery in attempting to protect others.
Joseph Wilcox, 31, was shopping in Wal-Mart when Jerad Miller and his wife Amanda Miller entered.
The couple had just killed two police officers and in the store, Jerad Miller fired one round and told everyone to get out.
Wilcox, who was legally carrying a concealed weapon, told his friends he was going to confront the gunman - not realizing that he had an accomplice.

California Teachers Unions Lose Big In Court
A court ruling on Tuesday striking down job protections for teachers in California deals a sharp blow to unions — and will likely fuel political movements across the nation to eliminate teacher tenure.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu found five California laws governing the hiring and firing of teachers unconstitutional. But it was his language, more than the ruling itself, that will shake the political debate.
Treu found that the statutes permit too many grossly incompetent teachers to remain in classrooms across the state — and found that those teachers shortchange their students by putting them months or years behind their peers in math and reading.

An additional 64,000 appear to have never gotten appointments at all. Leaders of both the House and Senate pledge to move quickly on legislation to help the VA. At a House hearing late last night, a top VA official apologized for the delays, calling them indefensible.

ObamaCare penalty to hit one million low-income Americans
Roughly one million low-income Americans will pay a fine under ObamaCare, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
The CBO estimated that four million people would pay the individual mandate penalty for not having health insurance by 2016 as a result of the president’s health care law, according to a report released last week,
“All told, CBO and [the Joint Committee on Taxation] JCT estimate that about four million people will pay a penalty because they are uninsured in 2016 (a figure that includes uninsured dependents who have the penalty paid on their behalf),” the report said. “An estimated $4 billion will be collected from those who are uninsured in 2016, and, on average, an estimated $5 billion will be collected per year over the 2017–2024 period.”

Across America, Police Departments Are Quietly Preparing For War
At first blush, the title of this post could be perceived as somewhat hyperbolic by those who still have an impression of America's police departments as bastions of safety, designed "to protect and to serve" the population of the "land of the free." However, said impression would be promptly washed away upon reading an article in today's NYT which citing Pentagon data, reveals that under the Obama administration, "police departments have received tens of thousands of machine guns; nearly 200,000 ammunition magazines; thousands of pieces of camouflage and night-vision equipment; and hundreds of silencers, armored cars and aircraft."
Which begs the question: just who is America's police force, and by extension the Obama administration, which is behind this quiet militarization of local police forces with weapons that would normally be seen in a warzone, preparing for war against?
And while we already documented America's conversation to a turnkey totalitarian banana republic (confirmed over a year later by Edward Snowden), behold America's conversion to a police state:

Marijuana playing larger role in fatal crashes
As more states are poised to legalize medicinal marijuana, it's looking like dope is playing a larger role as a cause of fatal traffic accidents.
Columbia University researchers performing a toxicology examination of nearly 24,000 driving fatalities concluded that marijuana contributed to 12% of traffic deaths in 2010, tripled from a decade earlier.
NHTSA studies have found drugged driving to be particularly prevalent among younger motorists. One in eight high school seniors responding to a 2010 survey admitted to driving after smoking marijuana. Nearly a quarter of drivers killed in drug-related car crashes were younger than 25. Likewise, nearly half of fatally injured drivers who tested positive for marijuana were younger than 25.
A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study found that 4% of drivers were high during the day and more than 6% at night, and that nighttime figure more than doubled on weekends.

Hillary Clinton: Benghazi Is the Reason I Should Run
Her role in the Benghazi controversy is no reason she shouldn't run for president, Hillary Clinton told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an interview aired Monday. On the contrary, she said, it's the very reason she should run.
The former secretary of state under President Barack Obama told Sawyer she views the continuing controversy as a diversion from the work Congress should be doing.
"Actually, it's more of a reason to run, because I do not believe our great country should be playing minor-league ball. We ought to be in the majors," Clinton said in a portion of the interview, aired on ABC's "World News Tonight."
"I view this as really apart from – even a diversion from – the hard work that the Congress should be doing about the problems facing our country and the world," she said.

Hershey Sues Lawmaker Over Sign
The Hershey company says a Maryland candidate is milking its classic chocolate bar for political gain.
Hershey's is suing state Sen. Stephen S. Hershey Jr., accusing him of improperly using signs and other campaign materials that mimic the look of a Hershey's candy bar.
The company says in the federal lawsuit filed Friday that the candidate's brown, rectangular campaign logo with white writing imitates the Hershey's bar packaging with its brown background and silver and white writing. Both use similar lettering for the word "Hershey," which appears in all capital letters in the center of both designs, but where the chocolate bar says "milk chocolate," the politician's logo says "state senate."

Hershey Sues Edible Marijuana Maker Over Punny Product Names
We can’t imagine anyone with even the most basic grasp of the English language would confuse Hershey’s Almond Joy with “Ganja Joy,” an edible marijuana product. Nor do we think anyone will mistakenly buy a “Dabby Patty” thinking it’s a York peppermint patty. But we don’t work for the Hershey legal department, which has sued a Colorado company over punny pot product names that the chocolate goliath believes are too close to its trademarked brands.
The Denver Channel reports that Hershey recently filed the lawsuit in a federal court in Denver, alleging trademark infringement and dilution.
“Defendants, who are well aware of the fame and popularity of these Hershey products and marks, are manufacturing and selling cannabis- and/or tetrahydrocannabinol-laced chocolate and candy products,” reads the complaint, “using names, marks and designs that are knock-offs of Hershey’s famous REESE’S, HEATH, ALMOND JOY and YORK trademarks and trade dresses, in order to increase sales of defendants’ cannabis and tetrahydrocannabinol candy products, draw additional attention to their products, confuse consumers as to the source of their products, call to consumers’ minds Hershey’s famous and beloved brands, and otherwise to trade on the goodwill of Hershey and its brands.”

Car With Smashed Windows Yet Another Example Of Why You Don’t Park In Front Of Fire Hydrants
So you think your car is special, huh? Like maybe it has some magical power that reorganizes its atoms as such that a fire hose can pass through it without breaking, or emergency jet packs that can lift it up and away when the fire hydrant it’s parked in front of needs to be used. Well, it’s not, and yet again, another hapless driver gives us the perfect reason why you shouldn’t leave your ride where it isn’t supposed to be.
A Wilmington, Del. driver learned that there is no such thing as a special car that’s allowed to sit in front of hydrants after firefighters bashed out the windows of the Ford Fusion vehicle while battling a three-story house fire that was spreading, reports NBC News Philadelphia.
With the fire on the move, firefighters broke the car’s two front windows and fed the fire house through them to access the hydrant and get the water to the scene.

Here’s Why Honey Nut Cheerios Don’t Contain Nuts
The incoming Web queries for a website are like an oracle: sometimes we can see trends or growing problems by reading them, like when people had trouble with the Gree dehumidifier recall. Sometimes searchers find us when they search for the answers to questions that we had never thought to ask. Last week, someone asked Google whether Honey Nut Cheerios contain any nuts. The short answer: No.

Man Finds Out You Can Be Arrested For Driving A Beer Cooler While Drunk
Despite the fact that most people will think of cars when hearing the phrase “drunk driving,” the term is really filled with infinite possibilities. For example, you can’t drive a motorized beer scooter while under the influence, at least not in Australia.
Police spotted a 22-year-old riding around on his motorized cooler in the middle of a suburban street, reports The Telegraph. And in Australia such a cooler is known as an “esky,” providing a prime pun opportunity. See, because “eskypade” can then be a thing.
When officials caught up with the man, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol — alcohol which he could’ve gotten from the cooler he was riding, which contained a supply of booze.

Waffle House Policy Keeps Waitress From Keeping $1,000 Tip
If you’re looking to leave a very special tip for your Waffle House server, do it with cash. That’s the lesson learned from the story of one WH waitress in North Carolina who couldn’t keep the 4-digit tip left by a generous customer.
The server, a seven-year veteran of a Raleigh Waffle House, was working the overnight shift on Mother’s Day weekend when a local businessman wrote in a $1,500 tip on his credit receipt with the instruction that $500 of that be given to a needy-looking fellow diner in the adjoining booth.
But that tip just went back into the customer’s account instead of into the pockets of the server and the other diner.
“I feel like they stole from me,” the waitress tells the News and Observer. “They did exactly what they teach us not to do.”
