We recently posted an article about Maryland’s Consolidated Capital Bond Loan of 2014, which has a link to the actual loan usage list that includes a “grant” of $50,000.00 to the Willards Lions Club. As we previously reported, that state spending was sponsored by Norman Conway in the House of Delegates and Jim Mathias in the Maryland Senate. Oink, Oink! The Lions Club got the $50,000.00.
If you’re a Maryland taxpayer, feel free to comment about this outrage.
That's what I call "Pork Without The Park".
ReplyDeletewhat do you expect from that pair. im sure the lions can use the money but thats not the point. thanks sjd
ReplyDeletegood old norm for screwing the taxpayers again.
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight. Norm voted to take our guns, increase income tax and shift the teacher pensions over to the county! Then he decides to give a group of his friends a free 50K to do what ever with. Please voters wake up. This next election should be a day of reckoning for Norm and Pollit.
ReplyDeleteThis was just after they passed 2 million bucks of teacher retirement pension over to the Counties. Give away 50,000 and take away 2 million. It's the democratic way.
ReplyDeleteis anybody else sick and tired of these ruling class elites? if you don't vote for MIKE McDERMOTT you deserve everything the ruling class elites do to you
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Anderton -- how about you?
ReplyDeleteDont care, just might go into the armored car business.
ReplyDeleteJames Mathias controls the Daily Times.
ReplyDeleteHey, wait a minute! What's wrong with the Willards Lions Club? I live in Quantico, but those guys in Willards are all good people...that sounds like something I WANT my taxes to go to, not another needle exchange program in "Charm City!"
ReplyDeleteI think you've missed the point...
DeleteOk so the way I see it Maryland was sooo gracious to GIVE the Willards Lion's Club $50,000 of MARYLAND TAXPAYER'S MONEY - so any event at the WILLARD'S LIONS CLUB is FREE for any Maryland resident right? We have already paid for it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Anderton too! The status quo will likely get Conway elected again, but it won't be with my vote. So very sad. People really need to wake up and make some changes before Maryland has, no jobs and no money, both!
ReplyDeleteThen the ultra rich will have to support the rest of us, hold up, let me think a while about that last option!
Throw those bums out . . .
ReplyDeleteVote for Anderton and McDermott -- both if you can!
I have no problem with it because the Lions Club helps people in their community-those of us who have been assisted by Lions can vouch for their philanthropy.
ReplyDeleteIf the Lions give away money they raise then its philanthropy. If they give away money provided by taxpayers then its robbery.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happens to all the money they raise when they have Bingo? How many times a year does the Willards Fire Department use this place? I know I called a few years ago to find out about renting it for a wedding and it took me over 3 weeks to get in touch with anyone to even answer a question. Messages left on the answering machine were never returned and that was after trying to figure out who was actually in charge. They are link some way with the fire department whether they will admit it or not. I guess that is why Willards Fire Department just has a fire department and not any type of hall, they just use this one for free!
ReplyDeleteI resent Norm and Jim buying votes with MY money.
ReplyDeletehere is another interesting thing....the County Council GAVE the old Willards school property to the fire company....the fire company SOLD some or all of the property. Why did our county council people allow this to happen? I would be okay in giving it to the fire company if they were going to use it, if not the monies for the sale need to go back into the taxpayer funds not to the fire company
ReplyDeleteAll I want to know is when is Conway going to have his fund-raising dinner at Willards Lions Club hall. They have some good dumplins.
