What is your fondest memory/memories of Christmas?

  1. I remember waking up on Christmas morning 1948-1953 to see all the presents around the tree. We had no running water , had no bathroom, had heat in only one room. I thought we were rich and we were. Can't remember what we got but it was a precious time for us 7 children My mom and dad would put up three after we were asleep , it was a good time.
I didn't know how others lived , all we knew was we were rich in family values and God.

  2. God Bless you, 10:07 AM. That was a beautiful, heartfelt comment, and what Christmas is all about.

  4. I remember when I didn't have my own bedroom and slept in the living room on a rollaway bed. I don't know how they did it, but my parents managed to get the things under the tree without waking me up. My stocking would have tangerines, nuts and candy -- we only got tangerines at Christmas time. But, we were so happy; not as much stress and good times together. I miss those days.

  6. Ironically one year I had just moved out on my own and spent the day alone in a townhouse I rented part of. I sat and drank coffee and looked out the wind at the wind and snow and gave thanks for a peace of mind and I was in a warm house. No complaining about heating oil or other things just peace and gratitude of what I was given.

  10. When I was little we lived in an old victorian house with no insulation and during the holidays Coke in returnable bottles and later Sprite was kept in a lower kitchen cabinet. The bottles got so cold that no ice was needed to cool it. I thought this was so great. I don't think anyone would think growing up in a house that cold was fun, nor would they understand that Coke was a once a year treat. Great memories.
