MD Governor: Lives Of 'People Of Color' Valued Less Than Whites
On Wednesday, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, a Democrat who will likely run for president in 2016, said the lives of "people of color" are valued less than those of whites in America.
Speaking on the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, O'Malley said there is "too much apathy" in America "when the lives of people of color are too often valued less than the lives of white people."
He called for a variety of actions that included "abolishing the death penalty," helping immigrants, and raising the minimum wage.
They don't value themselves, why bother. Seniors aren't valued either black or white. Quit wallowing in your ditch of pity and make something of yourself. You earn respect, Omalley wants to hand it to them just like he does everything else.
And this is a problem? Let me see, people of color cause 80% of the theft crimes in the US, they are involved in over 85% of all Drug related crime, they shoot and kill each other everyday in Chicago, they make up 78% of the inmates in the criminal justice system, they are most likely not to have their father in the home, their mothers are predicted to be hooked on drugs at a rate of 3 out of 4, they make up 90% of the people on some form of public assistance, I could go on and on, but to me it looks like the people of color are a drag on society and a drain on our resources.
FBI uniform crime report for 2011, percentages adjusted for population according to race, as per-capita ratio, provide a clear picture of one of the biggest problems in this country, people of color are truly a problem here in the USA, but this is one fact no one wants to admit or talk about.
Joe, I'm not Gerald but I've seen these statistics. They are right on. I believe they are on the justice dept website or maybe it's the FBI's. When I get a few minutes I'll pull them up and forward.
BTW-the fed statistics on incarceration rates only uses state prison systems in their data. When county detention centers/municipal jails are factored in the rate more than doubles.
MLK- "Don't judge by the color of skin but by the content of character" CONTENT OF CHARACTER are the most unused (by the majority) words from his speech. That in a nutshell is the problem. Tell me I'm wrong.
The only excuse to raise the minimum wage is to pay people more than they get from welfare. Why work if everything you need and want is free?? But what happens when workers are not worth what they are being paid???
An economic principle: Employer invests money and knowledge in his business, hires other people to produce profits using his business investment, employee produces income greater than he is paid, both benefit.
10:42 You are correct, that statement, if put in practice, would eliminate most predujuce except for one major problem. There are people who will overlook the character flaws and still excuse someone because of the color of their skin. Two glaring examples I can think of for that are Travon and Barack.
We need weekly polls Joe,where we can vote on issues at hand.3 or 4 choices would suffice. For example, agree, disagree, strongly agree, strongly disagree, etc.Racial posts scream the need for a poll,as do political issues in general. In most cases a post can be condensed into a single question once the topic has been explained.Thank you.

ReplyDeleteLooks like more "race hate mongering" to me. Apparently that is the way to become president..

ReplyDeleteHis "speech" was nothing more than a money grab for him and his family. They copyrighted it for their financial gain.
