AG Opinion: Says Marylanders Can Not Obtain Their Pre-Ordered Handguns After Oct 1 Without HQL!

For everyone in Maryland planning on purchasing a handgun prior to October 1, 2013 you will need to read this opinion by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. This interpretation will create some serious problems and surprises for tens of thousands of persons so the sooner everyone is aware they can begin planning to act accordingly. I anticipate this will be “stayed” as part of the preliminary motions filed in the law suit to stop the implementation of SB-281 after Oct. 1, 2013.

Please share the link to this site and ask other 2nd Amendment supporters Statewide to do the same. Leave your comments and ideas here so we can all have the benefit of our insights into this problem.

I intend to file legislation to try to fix this as well as assist any law suits that are filed.

  4. WOW!!!. I am not aware of any of the regulations that have been published to establish HQL instructors or any certified places to get this done. Apparently the gun transfers and purchases will STOP effective 10/1/13 until all of these matters get set up.

  5. Gansler has apparently decided he doesn't want to be governor after all.

Look for a recant after he gets push-back.

Smigel moves ahead in race to take Pipkin job just on basis of pushing this issue.

  6. The whole idea is not to have any regulations, facilities or instructors in place, thereby preventing delivery of handguns. Do not underestimate the underhandedness of the O'Malley regime.

  9. Fact. 85% of crimes are committed by black and Hispanic persons. 85% of incarcerated persons are black and Hispanic. Therefore, anti-carry laws protect those races of people the most. Our Country must rid ourselves of liberal Democrats before it's too late.

  11. §5-117.1(c) is moot. As it doesn't exist until Oct. 1, 2013. Quite simply, the AG is wrong.
But, WTF else is new? These democratic know-it-alls are all educated beyond their intelligence.

That is correct. I have an "illegal" gun, and I am an "illegal" owner of said gun. A person prohibited.

Not because I killed, robbed or raped anyone, but because I have a felony conviction for "joyriding when I was younger, and a dishonorable discharge; because I was lied to. Horrors.

Regardless of ANY law "they" may make, everyone, including I, have inalienable rights that cannot be taken away. "They" didn't give me these rights, neither can they take them away.

I am not a criminal, nor an I a threat to society. The only threat I may be is the threat to the powers that be, because I don't listen to or obey them.

I can live, and die, with that.
