Mr Albero,I am sending you this Email as I know you care about the eastern shore and its people, As a X employee at Y.M.C.A they have been begging for a Small raise for years, good people come and go EVERY year because they they are getting the run around from the YMCA and have been promised over and over again, The YMCA is building a NEW Extension at the cost of Millions of Voluntary Donations and this is the excuse for the Major delay, They feel that Voluntary donations should NOT have an effect on a Minor Raise for ALL of the staff at the YMCA. They work very hard and do not like complaining, but Enough is Enough, They would just like what was PROMISED to them so they can live some what good so they don't have to ask for Assistance from the Government. Please help.
Thank You.
X Employee.
donations were raised for the expansion
ReplyDeleteif I donate money for something I want it to go for the intended purpose
have the employees raise donations for their raise
1016 i DON'T THINK THE STORY WAS ABOUT TAKING MONEY AWAY FOR THE EXTENSION IT WAS TO POINT OUT THE THE OWNERS ARE PLAYING GAMES AND USING THE "DONATED" MONEY AS THERE EXCUSE, BUT I GUESS RICH FOLK LIKE YOU DON'T CARE FOR HARD WORKING PEOPLE BEING GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FOR A SMALL RAISE, I GUESS YOU WENT THROUGH LIFE WITH A SILVER SPOON IN YOUR MOUTH, MUST BE NICE.
ReplyDeleteGIVE THE PEOPLE THERE RAISE.
Get over it. The YMCA is a 501C non profit. If you don't like it leave.
ReplyDeleteGive the people the Raise.
ReplyDelete11:26 SURE does sound like a self righteous fool, lol
ReplyDeletethOSe people work hard at the Ymca give them a little raise damn even milk cost $4.
ReplyDelete1016 A Non profit still makes money LOOK it up under Wiki, do you THINK people just open things NOT to make money? kinda like sheltering money in the caman islands.
ReplyDelete11:03 I am not rich, do not have a silver spoon.
ReplyDeleteI work for my money. if I do not think I am making enough, I ask for more, if I do not get it, I look for a better job.
people need to learn they have options. if employees keep leaving eventually the employer will realize they need to pay more.
donations for a specific project HAVE to be used for that project, or there is a violation of the law, those donations do not go to ur salary. you KNOW where you WERE working, you know its 501c and you have to know, that it is not going to be a CAREER. go find another job, that is the FREE Market system
ReplyDeletei wonder how much the Property will be worth with the new expansion? someone is making out property wise.
ReplyDeleteHow much do they make? Everyone wants a raise, but if you're going to ask for more than I need to know what you're making now. If they are truly being paid so low that government assistance is a likelihood, then that would be different than if they're banking 50k/year and want a bump up.
ReplyDeleteDamn a lot of selfish peeps on the shore.
ReplyDeleteThe job pays what it pays.. Just Do sloppy work and get fired due to a "personality conflict", then you can draw 3 years unemployment pay. That should entitle you to "snap" so you will be getting x2 as much. Ob' will take care of you if you voted for him.
ReplyDelete114..I would rather work than be a welfare BUM.
ReplyDeleteWHY some people seem confused on this issue is beyond me. The employees were told by the employer they would be getting a increase in pay; end of story. It is a breach of promise to not follow thru: morally, ethically, and businesswise. Secondly, it never ceases to amaze me how petty, selfish, and mouthly some pious people can be and put their stupidity in print. I do agree we should be informed about the current pay scale for YMCA employees (top to bottom), and when was the last pay increase in these terrible times. Non profit is just a loophole for some people to make a pot full of money. Just sayin....
ReplyDelete236 you are 1000% correct.
ReplyDeleteyeah and the ymca has gone downhill in the last few years...BC they except Welfare.
ReplyDeleteLET ME SEE, GET TAX RIGHT OFF'S BEG FOR DONATIONS ,BUILD A HUGE EXPANSION, FOR BASICALLY FOR FREE , AND THE PROPERTY VALUE GOES UP ON HE TAX PAYERS DIME?
ReplyDeleteWHO MAKES OUT,
THE OWNER, IF HE SELL'S THE PROPERTY WILL HE GIVE BACK $$$ TO THE DONATORS SOUNDS LIKE ONE BIG SCAM.
As a member of the Y, our dues are very low, so I would be willing to pay more so employees can be adequately compensated for their work. I would not want to pay more so the Y can give out more free memberships to people who don't work and are welfare.
ReplyDelete319...yep welfare peeps ruin everything look at subsidized housing
ReplyDelete...
319 r u on Welfare? That's the only ones that barly pay anything.
ReplyDeleteSeems to me that in this economy, membership is down. I mean, unemployment numbers have been increasing for 5 years, and budget are being cut. A gym membership to me is less important than the electric bill. Maybe to you, it is not. I've never been able to afford a gym membership, but there are many things that are considered "optional" in a budget, and this is one.
ReplyDeleteExcersize at home instead.
I was without a job for a year and the Y allowed my family still use the facility. It was a very big gift at a difficult time. I praise them for their hard work, and know that they pay what they can afford. Don't know all of the facts, but for me they were a blessing. To the person unhappy, I'd say this. If you think this job was below you, you should have left earlier.
ReplyDeleteGREED, YMCA is putting on an extension to their building on the land that the Elks Organization sold them years ago for $1.00. This was for Sports fields for the YMCA. Now they want to add a pool (which they already have 2)So where are your sports fields gong to be? If you are not going to use them for the purpose of why Elks donated to you, Give the land back to the ElksLodge !!!!
