Big Democratic Guns Tell Seniors Anti-Casino Ads Are Misleading
In the battle for expanded casino gambling, they brought out the big political guns Thursday to persuade hundreds of residents of the large Leisure World retirement community in Montgomery County that ads against Question 7 ads are misleading and dishonest.
Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and Sen. Roger Manno — all Democrats — told the seniors that building a world-class casino at National Harbor in Prince George’s County will have positive impacts on the state’s economy and education funding.
“We may not change your minds,” Brown said. “But nobody should leave this room today without having the facts and that’s what we are here to do, to dispel a lot of the myths that have been promoted to try to oppose Question 7.”

It's a sad case of affairs when we start depending on gambling to salvage the economic situation in this country.
ReplyDeleteThat's really teaching us to be productive.
Vote yes for jobs, pretty simple.
ReplyDeleteIf they were required to use instate companies to build it then maybe there would be jobs from it but that will likely go to out of state companies. The money for education simply replaces money that is already in the budget, nothing more. That then frees O'Malley to piss it away somewhere else. Now if said it would replace the money that he took from the county roads, he may have an idea. For the shore, we will see no jobs, no education money so why vote for it?
ReplyDeleteThis will create no more money for the schools. The money they use for schools now will be used elsewhere. Where no one seems to know. The money from this will then go to the schools. Seems everything always starts off going to the schools then gets shifted to another place. This will be the same way. Didn't the lottery start off saying it was for the schools? Now doesn't it go to the stadiums?
ReplyDeleteThis is campaign payoff for the big dem donors plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteMichael Steele is supporting this, just an FYI.
ReplyDeleteDon't really see why where the money goes (schools or not) is an issue. It will provide jobs and income.
ReplyDeleteRepublicans are all for job creation except........
